Hal Pundt

EDISTO ISLAND - Mr. Hal Pundt, 66, of 8551 Pope Landing, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident April 7 in Charleston. He died at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston.

The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour on Caldwell Street in Rock Hill, with the Revs. Tom Carter and Weyd Camp officiating.

The son of Betty Nasworthy of Wadley, Ga., Mr. Pundt retired after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Rock Hill. He and his wife, Dr. Joan Pundt, lived on Edisto Island, where they built their retirement home. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Joe Pundt of Wadley and Ernest "Pete" Pundt of Moncks Corner; three sons, Harold Pundt Jr. and Steve Pundt, both of Rock Hill, and Ray Pundt of Lexington, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Schrader,

733 Colonial Drive, Rock Hill.

Joan Pundt

EDISTO ISLAND - Dr. Joan Schrader Pundt, 63, of 8551 Pope Landing, formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, April 7, 2000, in an automobile accident in Charleston.

The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour on Caldwell Street in Rock Hill, with the Revs. Tom Carter and Weyd Camp officiating.

Dr. Pundt received her undergraduate and master's degree from Winthrop University, and she completed her doctorate at the University of South Carolina. She taught in Rock Hill-area schools for 35 years, retiring in 1993 while at Sullivan Middle School. She went on to teach at Dalton State College in Dalton, Ga., for five years. Dr. Pundt retired to move to the couple's new home on Edisto Island, where she began teaching elementary school children in Cottageville. She was active at Trinity Episcopal Church on Edisto Island, enjoyed singing with the community chorus, gardening and also was active with the local artist's guild.

Surviving are three sons, Harold Pundt Jr. and Steve Pundt, both of Rock Hill, and Ray Pundt of Lexington, N.C.; her father, Walter Schrader of Rock Hill; her sister, Elizabeth Johns of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Schrader, 733 Colonial Drive, Rock Hill.

William Davis

LANCASTER - Mr. William Frank "Pete" Davis, 50, of 204 W. Shiloh-Unity Road died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at West Side Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Lemmon officiating.

A native of Sumter, Mr. Davis was a son of Edna Hodge Davis and the late Carlyle Davis. He was a driver for J Concrete Co.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Barbara Humphries Davis; his son, James Carlyle Davis of Lancaster; his daughter, Lori Melton of Jefferson; two brothers, Sam Davis of Columbia and Norman Davis of Sumter; his sister, Carol Belt of Paxville; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Humphries, 171 W. Shiloh-Unity Road, Lancaster.

Cauthen Funeral Home in charge.

Annie Lockman

LANCASTER - Mrs. Annie Belk Lockman, 90, of Lancaster, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be Tuesday morning at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville, with the Rev. Dewey Knight officiating.

A native of Great Falls, Mrs. Lockman was a daughter of the late D.W. Belk and Lizzie Belk. She was a retired employee of Springs Industries and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Faith.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Donnie Lockman and Debbie Sims, both of Lancaster, and James Trutt and Tammy Compton, both of Sumter; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Edna Reeves

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Edna Barrett Reeves, 84, of 390 East St. died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Lexington Medical Center, Extended Care.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Oakhurst Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Heath Springs, Mrs. Reeves was a daughter of the late Albert Newton Barrett and Mary Jane Vincent Barrett. She was a member of the Oakhurst Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday school class and the choir. She had taught the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday school class for several years and had been the church clerk for 40 years.

Surviving are two sons, John Reeves of Columbia and Gerald Reeves of Dillon; two daughters, Sylvia Cartin of Lexington and Linda Brinson of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 394 Barrett Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.

Virginia Neal

GREER - Mrs. Virginia Bentley Neal, 71, of 14 24th St. died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Camp Care Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Wood Mortuary, with the Revs. Ray Sweat and Jeff Hunt officiating. Burial will be at Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

A Borden, Va., native, Mrs. Neal was a daughter of the late Jones Perry Burnette and Bessie Burnette. She was a member of Genobles Church of God of Prophecy and was a retired hairdresser.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Simpson of Wake Forest, N.C., and the Rev. Carl Neal of Charleston; two daughters, Linda B. Adams of Lake Norman, N.C., and Deborah Jean Faile of Fort Mill; two sisters, Ethel Rodgers of Spartanburg and Ruth Bright of Woodruff; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at The Wood Mortuary, 300 W. Poinsett St., Greer.

Paul Terry

LANCASTER - Mr. Paul Terry, 81, of 1648 Hillside Ave. died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Charles Hendricks, Durant Driggers and Reece Miles officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Georgetown, Mr. Terry was a son of the late Lemuel Terry and Rillia Williams Terry. He retired from Springs Industries and was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Terry was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Watts Terry; two sons, Paul Richard Terry of Lancaster and James Dennis Terry of Fort Lawn; and three daughters, Helen Reynolds, Dianne Cole and Mary Alice Lucas, all of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Shannon Ashton

LANCASTER - Miss Shannon Leigh Faile Ashton, 24, of 881 Farmbrook Road, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Wren officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Miss Ashton was a daughter of Willis G. Faile and Mary J. Arant. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and worked for Springs Industries, Grace Bleachery. She attended Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother, Keith Faile of Lancaster; her grandmothers, Nannie Hammond and Lucy Faile, both of Lancaster; and two nieces.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Lila Merritt

INDIAN LAND - Mrs. Lila Jennings Merritt, 59, of 8637 Possum Hollow Road died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Indian Land Baptist Church, with the Rev. Benny Green officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Merritt worked at the old Panhandle Convenience Store and the BP Convenience store in Indian Land as a cook. She was a member of Indian Land Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU.

Surviving are her daughter, Debbie Dial of Indian Land; two sisters, Nancy St. Clair and Mary Neal Perkins, both of Indian Land; and her grandson, T.C. Dial of Indian Land.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill and other times at the home of the daughter, 8647 Possum Hollow Road, Indian Land.

Shannon Ashton

LANCASTER - Miss Shannon Leigh Faile Ashton, 24, of 881 Farmbrook Road, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Wren officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Miss Ashton was the daughter of Willis G. Faile and Mary J. Arant. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and worked for Springs Industries, Grace Bleachery. She attended Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother, Keith Faile of Lancaster; her paternal grandmother, Lucy Faile of Lancaster; and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Nannie Hammond of Lancaster.

Joey Edwards

ROCK HILL - Mr. Joey Oneal Edwards, 43, of 1025 Princeton Drive died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Edwards was the son of Ethel Williams Edwards Hope of Rock Hill and the late Hermon Oneal Edwards. He was co-owner of Edwards Body Shop and a member of Park Baptist Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Rock Hill High School, where he was an outstanding wrestler on the varsity team and played on the varsity football team. He attended the Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Tiffany E. Cramer of Rock Hill; his stepfather, Fred Hope Jr. of Rock Hill; his stepbrother, Fred Hope III of Fort Mill; his stepsister, Martha Lee Hope of Columbia; his paternal grandmother, Viola Edwards of Florence; his maternal grandmother, Pauline S. Williams of Rock Hill; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Fred Hope and Ethel Hope, 2007 Hilltop Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Park Baptist Church building fund, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Annie Lytle

YORK - Mrs. Annie Lee Lytle, 89, of White Oak Manor, formerly of 29 Pecan Circle, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke No. 2 Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Lytle was a daughter of the late Robert Hardin and Isabelle Roseboro Hardin. Mrs. Lytle joined the St. Luke No. 2 Baptist Church at an early age.

Surviving are her husband, Joshua Lytle; two sons, Willie James Lytle of Sharon and Joshua Lytle Jr. of York; her sister, Ruth McClure of Sharon; her special friend, Hattie McCleave of York; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joshua Lytle, 29 Pecan Circle, York.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday.
