Mary Dove

CHESTER - Mrs. Mary Louise Clack Dove, 87, of 3450 Armenia Road died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at the home of her daughter.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Armenia United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jimmy Dillard, Fant Steele, Reggie Parker and Greg Keller officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Dove was a daughter of the late Johnson R. Clack and Minnie Coleman Clack. She was the widow of James Neely "Jim" Dove. Mrs. Dove was retired from Springs Industries and attended Chester County schools. She was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Neely W. Dove of Chester; two daughters, Louise D. McManus and Essie D. Paul, both of Chester; her sister, Ruth C. Ferrell of Chester; two brothers, Robert Clack and J.T. Clack, both of Chester; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Armenia United Methodist Church parking lot fund, 2840 Armenia Road, Chester, SC 29706 or Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

William Edwards Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Benjamin Edwards Sr., 81, of 428 Cummings St. died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Sonshine Village.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Lawn.

A native of Fort Lawn, Mr. Edwards was a son of the late Robert Lee Edwards and Alma Jordan Edward. He was the widower of Nell Griffin Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a member of Park Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and song leader. He was a retired supervisor at Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co. and formerly worked at Winn-Dixie and Commun-ity Cash food stores. He was a former board member and trustee of Family Trust Credit Union. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his son, William B. Edwards Jr. of Catawba; two daughters, Janice E. Harpster and Susan E. Lowery, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Pittsburgh and Margaret Summerlin of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Susan Lowery, 4462 Homestead Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Park Baptist Church, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

James Geter Sr.

SENECA - Mr. James Edward Geter Sr., 57, of Mariner Health died Wednesday, April 19, 2000.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at the United House of Prayer for All People in Rock Hill. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Geter was a deacon and member of United House of Prayer for All People in Greenville.

Surviving are his wife, Maryruth Drake Geter of Cheraw; and his son, James E. Geter Jr. of Aiea, Hawaii.

The family is at the home of his niece, Frances Geter, 2735 Anderson Road, Apt. 704, Greenville.

Clark's Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge.

Nick Hopkins

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Nick Hopkins, 54, of 6559 Richburg Road died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Great Falls Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Charles Horn, Joe Jones, Henry Adams and William Carter officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Hopkins is the son of Reece Hopkins and Georgia Adams Hopkins. He was a former supervisor with Defenders Industries and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Dorothy Dixon Hopkins; four sons, Kenneth Hopkins and Edward Moseley, both of Great Falls, and Thomas Hopkins and Richard Hopkins, both of Lancaster; three stepsons, James W. Taylor Jr., Clyde Matthew Taylor and Daniel Taylor, all of Great Falls; his stepdaughter, Gail Hopkins of Great Falls; two brothers, Johnny Hopkins and William Hopkins, both of Great Falls; and three sisters, Joyce Fleetwood, Linda Carol Goings and Barbara Payseur, all of Great Falls.

The body may be viewed from 7 to 9 tonight at the home.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.

Louis Hughes

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Mr. Louis "Nig" Hughes of 248 Peach St., formerly of Chester, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Aleida Health Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in the Wilksburg community, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mr. Hughes was a son of the late Columbus Hughes Sr. and Hattie Sims Hughes. He was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age. He was a member of Burning Bush Masonic Lodge No. 186. He was a member of Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 32 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Helen R. Gibson Hughes; two sons, Reginald L. Williams and Jonathan R. Hughes; five daughters, Cheryl Williams, Benita Williams, Lisa L. Hughes, Janet Hughes Womack and Helen H. Hughes; three brothers, William Hughes, H.B. Hughes and John Hughes; three sisters, Katherine Pendergrass, Hattie Lee Glover and Agnes Witcher; and six grandchildren.

The body can be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Donald Jamison

SHARON -"Mr. Donald Strong "D.J." Jamison, 51, of 3512 Hoodtown Road died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Piedmont Med-ical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dennis McCleave officiating and the Revs. George H. Lowry and Bruce Smith assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Jamison was the son of Eloise McCoy Jamison and the late Willie B. Jamison. A member of Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, he was employed with Curb Line Inc. and Aquarius Machine Shop, both in Fort Mill. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in York and York Technical College, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Hood-town Masonic Lodge No. 433.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his sister, Janice E. Wade of Sharon; and three brothers, Wayne L. Jamison of Rock Hill, Willie G. Jamison of Sharon and Phillip L. Jamison of Walkertown, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 7 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York, at which time Masonic rites will be performed.

James Martin Jr.

BRYSON CITY, N.C. - Mr. James W. "Junior" Martin Jr., 42, formerly of York, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Memorial Mission Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Haven Ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy in Clover, with Bishop Claude Ayers officiating and Bishop Richard Pitts assisting. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A native of York, Mr. Martin was a son of James Winfred Martin Sr. and the Rev. Olivene Dover Martin of Clover. He was a textile foreman and attended Haven Ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his companion, Janie Wilson and her son, Dwayne Wilson; his daughter, Wendy Leanne Martin of York; his paternal grandmother, Margie Martin of Clover; two brothers, Timothy Martin of Monroe, N.C., and E. Daniel Martin of Clover; and two sisters, Beverly M. Brown and Sierra N. Martin, both of Clover.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home and at other times at Haven Ministries of the Church of God of Prophecy, 106 Hilltop Lane, Clover.

Lillian McNab

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Mrs. Lillian Tucker McNab, 81, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Dr. William Pender officiating.

A native of Macon, Ga., Mrs. McNab was a member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church and moved to St. Simons Island four years ago. Mrs. McNab was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. C. Thomas Tucker of St. Simons Island and John P. Tucker of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her stepson, James McNab of Sea Island, Ga.; her brother, Clark Bush Jr. of Spartanburg; her sister, Billie Reese of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be be made to the South East Georgia Regional Medical Center Foundation, Brunswick, GA 31520 or St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island, GA 31522 or Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Jimmy Mullis

LANCASTER - Mrs. Jimmy Wilson Mullis, 86, of 410 Pine St. died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, in Lowman Home, White Rock.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Ernest T. Thompson III and Samuel N. Thomas Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Mullis was a daughter and the last of 10 children of the late James Stephen and Elizabeth Williams Wilson. She was the widow of J. Marvin Mullis Sr.

Mrs. Mullis was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. She attended Queens College. She was an administrative assistant at Lancaster High School for more than 20 years, a founding member of the POETS Society of Lake Wateree and the Ph.D. organization.

Surviving are three sons, J. Marvin "Bo" Mullis Jr. of Columbia, Vann S. Mullis Sr. of Chapin and Charles W. "Chuck" Mullis of Irmo; her daughter Sarah Ruth "Sis" Mullis of Atlanta; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Millard Stafford Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Millard D. Stafford Sr., 83, of 194 Briarwood Drive died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Drs. Boyce Wilson and Jack Basie and the Rev. Charles Mitchell officiating.

Mr. Stafford came to Rock Hill from Sumter with the Tom Johnson CCC Camp in 1936 and served as chief clerk in the office of Soil Conservation Superintendent until 1942. From 1942 to 1948, he was supply and warehouse manager for the Army Engineers at the Columbia Army Air Base during World War II. He returned to Rock Hill in 1948 with Celanese Corp. of America and was manager of stores department from 1948 to 1972.

Mr. Stafford was a member of Ebenezer ARP Church, where he served as deacon and elder emeritus. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 385, the York County Crescent Shrine Club and the Rock Hill Elks Club.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryne Earle Steele Stafford; his son, M.D. Stafford Jr. Lt. Col. USA Ret.; his sister, Eula Baker of Sumter; his brother, Lawrence M. Stafford of Mount Plymouth, Fla.; and two stepsisters, Aline R. McIntosh and Addie Robertson, both of Oswego.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Ruby Wright

GAFFNEY - Mrs. Ruby Lanier Wright, 74, of 3616 Cherokee Ave. died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Frederick Memorial Gardens, with the Revs. Gene Phillips and Al McKinney officiating.

A native of York county, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late Bud and Florence Mosley Lanier. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gaffney.

Surviving are are husband, Hoyle Wright; three sons, Danny G. Wright and David E. Wright, both of Gaffney, Douglas K. Wright of Blacksburg; her brother, Joe L. Lanier of Great Falls; two sisters, Nellie Batchler of Bethlehem, Pa., and Edna Mae Mitchell of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home in Gaffney and at other times at the home.

George Cauthen

LANCASTER - Mr. George William Cauthen, 74, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Cauthen was a son of the late Dewey Cauthen and Mamie Rollins Cauthen. He was a retired mechanic and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, William Floyd Cauthen of Heath Springs, Daniel Cauthen of Lancaster, Ronald Cauthen of Killien, Texas, and Tommy Cauthen of Zap, N.D.; three daughters, Carol Fraiper of Lawton, Okla., Paula Leach and Pam Enzbrenner, both of Atchinson, Kan.; five brothers, Ray Cauthen, Alva Cauthen and Dave Cauthen, all of Lancaster, Joe "Buddy" Cauthen of Jackson and Prince "Buster" Cauthen of Piedmont; three sisters, Minnie Lee Snipes and Tillie Craig, both Heath Springs, and Mildred Hudson of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

William Clark

CHESTER - Mr. William Edward Clark, 69, of 1196 Ross Road, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Eugene Bach officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Cheraw, Mr. Clark was the son of the late Edgar Clark and Rebecca Jordan Clark. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Billie Jo Keener of Fort Lawn; three sons, Jim Clark of Kannapolis, N.C., Bobby Clark of Rock Hill and Tony Clark of Chester; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Funeral Home and other times at the home of Billie Jo Keener, 5659 Hillsdale Drive, Fort Lawn.
