Algie Dickerson

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Algie Morgan Dickerson, 87, of 1018 Chester Ave. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Roberts officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Dickerson was a daughter of the late Rochelle Franklin Morgan and the late Lizzie Blackwell Morgan. She was a retired secretary for J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of the First Baptist Church. A graduate of Lancaster County schools, Mrs. Dickerson was a member of Great Falls Eastern Star Chapter No. 211.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn St., Great Falls, SC 29055 or Shriners Hospital Burn Center, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Joyce Dickerson

LANCASTER -"Mrs. Joyce Ann Yearout Dickerson, 57, of 1643 Old Lynwood Drive died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Wren officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Floyd, Va., Mrs. Dickerson was a daughter of Peasie Martin Yearout of Floyd and the late Foster Yearout. She was a retired sales clerk for Kmart and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, James P. Dickerson; her son, David Dickerson of Lancaster; three daughters, Debbie Crenshaw, Catherine Dickerson and Wanda Richardson, all of Lancaster; two brothers, Bobby Yearout of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ted Yearout of Floyd; two sisters, Mattie Harris of Floyd and Ruth Gathercole of Newport, Va.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3052 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Margaret Knight

KERSHAW - Mrs. Margaret Ruth Horne Knight, 64, of 6601 White St. died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steve Anglin, Tim Williams, George McDowell, Howard Suttles and Mike Hammond officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

A native of Pageland, Mrs. Knight was a daughter of the late William Franklin Horne and Mary Etta Knight Horne. A member of Providence Baptist Church, she was a receptionist at Skyline Ltd.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Ralph Knight; her son, the Rev. Marvin Randall Knight of Kershaw; two daughters, Jerri Bowers of Heath Springs and Sebrina Denise Phillips of Jackson, Mich.; two sisters, Doris Henry and Margie Lowery, both of Pageland; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home-Kershaw Chapel and other times at the home.

Mary Knight

PAGELAND -"Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gibson Knight, 65, of Route 3 died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Scott Gibson and James Rickey Knight Jr. officiating.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mrs. Knight was a daughter of the late James Coyte Gibson and Eula Price Gibson. She was the former owner and operator of Pageland Pallett Co. and was a member of Rose Memorial Nazarene Church. She was the widow of James Henry Knight.

Surviving are her son, James Rickey Knight of Pageland; four daughters, Jadon Plyler, Debra Leaird and Margaret Scoggins, all of Pageland and Linda Sims of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Martha Garrison and Helen Shaw, both of Pageland.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1142, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Mahaffey Funeral Home of Lancaster is in charge.

Jack Nichols

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack Thomas Nichols, 79, of 1520 Springsteen Road died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be private.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Nichols was a son of the late Adam Esco Nichols and Ollie Myrtle Jones Nichols. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and was a retired Rock Hill police officer.

Surviving are six daughters, Jill Morrison, Jan Lewis, Florence Peake and Marie Paul, all of Rock Hill, Judy Staley of St. Paul, N.C., and Jerrie Toyes of Whiteville, N.C.; two sisters, Vasti Strickland of Florida and Gladys Avery of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, Inc., 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC, 29730 or to the York County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 4975 CRS, Rock Hill, SC, 29731.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Leonard Sienkiewicz

ROCK HILL -"Mr. Leonard Andrew "Lenny" Sienkiewicz, 76, of 611 1/2 North Ave. died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home, downtown chapel, with Father William Pentis officiating.

A native of Scranton, Pa., Mr. Sienkiewicz was a son of the late Julius Sienkiewicz and Mary Pawlowski Sienkiewicz. He was a research technician for the Manhattan Project, for which he received a presidential citation. He took special courses at Columbia University. Mr. Sienkiewicz enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps near the end of World War II and became a flying cadet. When he left the service, he worked for White Printing Co. in Rock Hill. He attended Saint Anne's Catholic Church. He was the widower of Martha O'Veda Horne Sienkiewicz.

Surviving are his son, Martin Leonard Sienkiewicz of Rock Hill; two daughters, Veda Len "Spunky" Dagenhart of Charlotte and Deborah Ann Hager of Cocoa Beach, Fla., his brother, Carl Sienkiewicz of Endicott, N.Y.; and his sister, Sally Kakareka of Scranton.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to one's favorite children's charity or the Humane Society.

Mae Thomas

YORK - Mrs. Mae White Thomas, 82, of 302 Hall St. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in York, with the Rev. J. Todd Speed officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

A native of York, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late Miles White and Frances Mullis White. She was the widow of K.C. Thomas.

She was a retired clerk administrator for Cannon Mills Plant No. 3 and was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the church choir for more than 45 years.

Surviving are her son, Ken Thomas of York; her brother, Howard White of York; her sister, Lucille White of York; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Thornwell Children's Home in Clinton.

Wylie Thompson

CHESTER -"Mr. Wylie Thompson of 2812 James F. Wherry Road died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. Thompson officiating and the Rev. Jesse Boulware assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Calvin Thompson and Millie Feaster Thompson. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and was hymn choir leader. Mr. Thompson was a member of AP&B Society No. 3.

Surviving are his wife, Exie Dickerson Thompson; four sons, John Willie Dickerson, Edward Thompson and James Dickerson Jr. all of Chester, and Les Davis of Charlotte; four daughters, Nella Gray of East Orange, N.J., Mary Ann Harrington of Indian Trail, N.C., JoAnn Craig of Jersey City, N.J., and Loria C. Harper of Houston; two brothers, Tess Thompson and J.B. Thompson, both of Chester; two sisters, Maggie Dickerson of Rock Hill and Alberta Stevenson of Charlotte; 21 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road in Chester. The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Ernie Adkins

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernie Patton "Pat" Adkins, 53, of 2156 Holland Road died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael Leonhart officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Adkins was the son of the late John J. Adkins Sr. and Sara McDaniel Adkins. He was a 1966 graduate of York High School and served in the S.C. National Guard. He was a former partsman with Rick Ford in Clover and Good Motor Co. in Rock Hill. He was a member of Adnah United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his son, Jeffrey Patton Adkins of York; his daughter, Prentiss Adkins of Troutman, N.C.; his brother, Steve Adkins of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his niece, Donna Jones, 2173 Holland Road, Rock Hill.

Mary Louise Banks

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Mrs. Mary Louise Feaster Banks, 53, of Knoxville, formerly of Chester, died Friday, April 28, 2000, in Knoxville.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. W. E. Page officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Banks was a daughter of the late Abraham Feaster and Florie Smith Feaster. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church. She attended school in Chester County.

Surviving are her husband, Joe W. Banks; two sons, John W. Banks of Chester and Jimmy L. Banks of Georgia; four daughters, Teresa R. Feaster of Knoxville and Janice L. Dunifer, Vickie V. Banks and Wanda D. Hayes, all of Chester; three brothers, Rufus Feaster, Charles Feaster and Melvin Feaster, all of Chester; and three sisters, Angie L. Murphy, Rebecca F. Wilmore and Loretta Davis, all of Chester.

The body may be viewed at noon Wednesday at Denton Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Vickie Banks, 1245 Old York Road, Chester.

The body will lie in state at the church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Berta Dunbar

GREER - Mrs. Berta Montgomery Dunbar, 90, of 313 Memorial Drive, formerly of Chester, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Allen-Bennett Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Old Purity Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.

A native of Blackstock, Mrs. Dunbar was a daughter of the late Samuel Leroy Montgomery and Bertha Weir Montgomery. She was the widow of Robert Marion Dunbar. Mrs. Dunbar worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, Pryor Hospital in Chester and Chester County Hospital in Chester as a registered nurse. She also worked at Springs Industries as an industrial nurse. She was a graduate of Blackstock High School and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Chester.

Surviving are two daughters, Monte Dunbar Remaley of Spartanburg and Marian Dunbar Gillespie of Lyman; her sister, Nell Montgomery of Chester; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home.

Arnold Jessee

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Arnold Ray Jessee, 45, of 383 Forest Lake Circle died Monday, May 1, 2000, at home.

A graveside service was Monday at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Sollers officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. Jessee was the son of Leonard Dal Jessee and Helen Brown Jessee of Great Falls. He attended school in Great Falls and worked in residential construction.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two daughters, Misty Ray Jessee and Heather Joe Jessee, both of Great Falls; and his sister, Gail J. Yarborough of Great Falls.

Memorials may be made to his daughters' college fund, c/o Helen Jessee, 383 Forest Lakes Circle, Great Falls, 29055 or Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Daisie Griffin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ora Mae "Daisie" Johnson Griffin, 79, formerly of Fort Mill, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Rev. David Kemp and Pastor Michael White officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Boone, N.C., Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of the late Bill Johnson and Elizabeth Miller Johnson. She was the widow of John Parks Griffin. A homemaker, Mrs. Griffin was a member of Fort Mill Church of God.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry St. Clair of Fort Mill and David St. Clair of Rock Hill; five daughters, Reba Kieck of Gastonia, N.C., Patricia Gillespie of Kings Mountain and Johnnie Mae Pittman, Mary Griffin and Kathy Griffin, all of Fort Mill; three sisters, Ethel Ragan of Newton, N.C., Thelma Edmister of Boone and Eula Griffin of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and her great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Johnnie Mae Pittman, 127 Web Mills Drive, Fort Mill.
