Betty LoCascio

GOOSE CREEK - Mrs. Betty Jean Deese LoCascio of 219 Farm Road died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens in North Charleston.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. LoCascio was the daughter of the late William L. Deese and Florence Olney Deese.

Surviving are her husband, Santo LoCascio; and two sisters, Mary E. Porter of Amherstdale, W. Va., and Lucille Dickert of Rock Hill.

Harry McClurkin

CHESTER - Mr. Harry Charles McClurkin, 46, of 1720 Henry Road died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Long Sr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McClurkin was a son of Annie Gladden McClurkin of Chester and the late Johnnie J. McClurkin Sr. Mr. McClurkin was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, a former member of the men's choir, the Sunday school secretary and the church van driver, and was a member of AB&P Lodge No. 25. He was a 1972 graduate of Chester High School. He attended York Technical College and was a former employee of Rauch Industries in Chester.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary J. Brown McClurkin; his son, Jason C. McClurkin of the home; three brothers, Johnnie J. McClurkin Jr. and Floyd McClurkin, both of Chester, and Allen McClurkin of Winston, Ga.; and his sister, Sara Davis of Chester.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 this afternoon and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St.

Louise McLellan

ORANGEBURG - Mrs. Louise Thelma McLellan, 77, of 785 Five Chop Road died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Regional Medical Center.

The funeral was Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Clark officiating. Burial was at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

A native of Marlboro County, Mrs. McLellan was a daughter of the late Johnnie R. Jackson and Gussie Pop Jackson. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Mrs. McLellan was formerly employed with Azalea Meats and was retired from Utica Tool Co. She was a member of Woodman of the World and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving are her husband, Malcolm Clifford McLellan of Orange-burg; her daughter, Shirley M. Stevenson of Orangeburg; three sons, Robert McLellan and Johnnie R. McLellan, both of Orangeburg, and Malcolm R. "Mac" McLellan of Tega Cay; her nephew who was raised in the home, Lynn Fowler of Columbia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Edna Slaughter

BURKEVILLE, Va. - Mrs. Edna Mae Slaughter, 91, of Burkeville, formerly of York, died Monday, May 1, 2000.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Amelia, Va.

Mrs. Slaughter was the widow of Floyd Jackson Slaughter. She was a member of York Wesleyan Methodist Church in York.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Lee Slaughter of Burkeville and Joe Neal Slaughter of York; her sister, Myrtle Garrett of Belmont, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and several half sisters and half brothers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Jennings McMillian Funeral Home in Crewe, Va.

Mae Thomas

YORK - Mrs. Mae White Thomas, 82, of 302 Hall St. died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. J. Todd Speed officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A native of York, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late Miles White and Frances Mullis White. She was the widow of K.C. Thomas.

She was a retired clerk administrator for Cannon Mills Plant No. 3 and was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the church choir for more than 45 years.

Surviving are her son, Ken Thomas of York; her brother, Howard White of York; her sister, Lucille White of York; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bratton Funeral Home is in charge.

Memorials may be made to Thornwell Children's Home in Clinton.

Mannie Thomas

CHESTER - Mrs. Mannie Sweatt Thomas, 82, of 1064 Double T Drive died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Revs. Reggie Parker and James Wood officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late Will Sweatt and Zella Blackwell Sweatt. A homemaker, she attended school in York County and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances T. Thompson of Chester; her sister, Myrtle Broome of Rock Hill; her brother, Asa Sweatt of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Paul Wright

FORT MILL - Mr. Paul Esburt Wright, 68, of 1436 Banks Road died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenrock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Flack officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Wright was a son of the late Robert W. Wright and Sally Mae Stewart Wright. He served in the Korean War and was an Army and Air Force veteran. Mr. Wright was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9138 and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. A former Lancaster resident, he was a self-employed painter.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Simmons Wright; four sons, Kenny Patrick of McConnells, Paul Wright Jr. of Pelzer and Rob Rollins and Ralph Dickson, both of Lancaster; three daughters, Patricia Miller and Phyllis Kilgo, both of Rock Hill, and Marie Knight of Lancaster; his brother, Robert Wright of Fort Mill; and his sister, Thelma Hord.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Funeral Home.

William Cramer Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. William John Cramer Jr., 89, of 984 Meadow Lakes Road died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, with Bishop Carl Smith and Art Whitesell officiating.

A native of Ridley Park, Pa., he was a son of the late William John Cramer Sr. and Marie Louise Maier Cramer. He was retired from Hoechst-Celanese and also was a retired appraiser with Home Realty. He and his wife served in the Atlanta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also was active and served in leadership of various organizations.

Surviving are his wife, Leah Hosey Cramer; two sons, Douglas Scott Cramer of Aiken and Christopher Lee Cramer of Rock Hill; his daughter, Kerrina Cramer Fewell of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Webster Diggs

ROCK HILL -"Mr. Webster Howard "W.H." Diggs, 75, of 251 Sherwood Circle died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakdale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Peachland, N.C., Mr. Diggs was a son of the late Andrew Diggs and Anna Hildreth Diggs. He retired from the Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co. after 35 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A charter member of Oakdale Baptist Church, he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Jenice Stevens Diggs; his daughter, Delene Diggs Wilson of Lancaster; two sisters, Ruby Diggs Sutherland of Brevard, N.C., and Myrtle Diggs Robbins of Lillington, N.C.; and his grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Ruth McCall

FORT MILL - Mrs. Ruth Hoover McCall, 85, of Fort Mill, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Bob Jack and Jimmy Howard officiating.

A native of the Steele Creek community of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. McCall was a daughter of the late Thomas Edgar Hoover and Minnie Leticia Kimbrell Hoover. She was the widow of Fred Wright McCall. A homemaker, she was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Roberta "Bert" Hoover Bailes of Pineville, N.C., and Billie Hoover Williamson of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home.

Daniel Moskal

ROCK HILL - Mr. Daniel Patrick "Danny" Moskal, 35, of 2123 Dutch-man Drive, Apartment 102, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A private prayer service was held in Rock Hill, where he was cremated.

A native of Utica, N.Y., Moskal was the son of Richard Jon Moskal and Iris Joyce Jones Moskal. He was a carpenter and worked at the Hoechst-Celanese Corp. Formerly of New Hartford, N.Y., he graduated from New Hartford High School in 1983, where he was an outstanding hockey player. Moskal also played hockey in Canada.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Richard D. "Rick" Moskal of Utica, N.Y.; and his uncle and aunt, William and Judy Boris of Rock Hill, with whom he lived.

Memorials may be made to Stevens Swann Humane Society, NS Arterial, Utica, NY 13502.

Daniel Carpenter

CHESTER - Daniel Hawfield Carpenter, infant son of Billy Carpenter and Wendy Boyd Carpenter, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Cody Carpenter and Billy Carpenter, both of the home; his paternal grandmother, Mary Sue K. Carpenter of Chester; his maternal grandparents, Dean Boyd and Annette Boyd of York; and his maternal great-grandmother, Zoe Scism of York.

Olivia Dixon

YORK - Mrs. Olivia Tate Dixon, 88, of 24 Center St. died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dr. C.J. Jenkins officiating and the Rev. Darial Jackson assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Doris Doretha Hynes of York; and three grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York.

Doris Furcron

BREMERTON, Wash. - Mrs. Doris Evelyn Tibbs Furcron, 91, formerly of Great Falls, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

A native of Great Falls, Mrs. Furcron was a daughter of the late Harry Tibbs and Mattie Florence Holt Tibbs. She was a retired nurse and earned her nursing degree from St. Peters Hospital in Charlotte. She was a graduate of Longstreet Baptist Academy near Wallhalla.

Surviving are her husband, Jack Furcron; her daughter, Harriet Thul of Bremerton, Wash.; two sisters, Bessie Bradley and Helen Howe, both of Mount Airy, N.C.; and her brother, Herbert Tibbs of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls.
