John Brunson Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Broadus "Bulldog" Brunson Sr., 69, of 1016 S. Anderson Road died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Westminster Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Park Baptist Church, with the Revs. Eddie Ramsey and John Davis officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Brunson was the son of the late William Frances and Pearl Eugenia Brasington Brunson. He attended the University of South Carolina on a football scholarship. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Louise Gibson Brunson of Rock Hill; her son, John Broadus Brunson Jr. of Clover; her daughter, Suzanne B. Bayne of Easley; her sister, Ruby B. Tiller of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC, 29730.

Geneva Gore

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Geneva Smith Gore, 76, of 1330 India Hook Road died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum and the Rev. Harold "Bo" Coleman officiating.

A native of Onslow, N.C., Mrs. Gore was the daughter of the late Isaac Smith and Virginia Keen Smith. She was a homemaker and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Fred Gore of Raleigh, N.C.; her daughter, Brenda Gore Perrill of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hope Inc., 725 Crest St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Threatt

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Robert Lynn Threatt, 70, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, Dilworth Chapel, with the Rev. J.T. Pitts officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Threatt was the son of the late William J. and Daisy Mahaffey Threatt. He retired from Scott Buick, where he was a sales manager, then worked at Hendrick BMW. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Threatt held the title of club champion at several golf courses, and won several C.G.A. events. He graduated from Lancaster High School, achieving all-state honors in basketball and baseball in the mid-1940s.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie Chamberlain Threatt; two daughters, Janet Gaglione of Fort Mill and Rhonda Cantrell of Charlotte; two sons, Kevin Threatt of Lancaster and Robert Threatt Jr. of Charlotte; his stepdaughter, Sharon Weston of Clemmons, N.C.; his sister, Nancy Walkup of Charlotte; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, Dilworth Chapel.

Margaret Alfred

LANCASTER - Mrs. Margaret Helen Withrow Alfred, 78, of 1114 Marion St. died Friday, May 19, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with Bill Summer officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Ky.

A native of Kanawha, W.Va., Mrs. Alfred was a daughter of the late Parrish Withrow and Icey Bitty Hartney Withrow. She was the widow of Willard "Bill" Alfred. She was the former co-owner of Rail Line Restaurant from 1977 to 1987 and attended Open Door Fellowship Church.

Surviving are four sons, Al Warner Jr. of Carlisle, Ky., Alvin "Al" Warner of Columbia, Adrian Warner of Chester and William "Bill" Warner of Rock Hill; two daughters, Frances Atkins of Lancaster and Belle Willson of Rock Hill; two brothers, Dayton Withrow and Jewel Withrow, both of Charleston, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be sent to a charity of one's choice.

Maggile Boular

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maggile L. Boular of 324 Bynum Ave. died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Toumey Healthcare Center in Sumter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mildred Patton officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Boular was a daughter of Abiory Crockett and Bessie Johnson Crockett. She was the widow of Robert Boular. A homemaker, Mrs. Boular was a member of Red Oak AME Zion Church. She attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Crockett of Charlotte, Bobby Lee Crockett of Sumter and Terry Lee Boular of Rock Hill; three daughters, Bessie Ruth Boular, Ardry Lee Boular and Sonia Boular Work, all of Charlotte; her brother, James Crockett of Rock Hill; four sisters, Thelma Barber, Mary Massey and Minnie Davis, all of Charlotte, and Ardrey Crockett of Rock Hill; and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service at the funeral home.

Gothard Bridges

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. Gothard Cecil Bridges, 83, of 114 Campbell Road died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

A private graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Enon Baptist Church in Smyrna, with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Bridges was a son of the late Sidney E. Bridges and Myrtle Falls Bridges. He was a self-employed painter.

Surviving are three sisters, Ruth B. Jonas of York, Violet B. Imes of Zephyhills, Fla., and Mary B. Bolin of Temple Terrace, Fla.

Frank Carothers

LANCASTER - Mr. Frank Carothers, 86, of 973 Sherwood Circle died Friday, May 19, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Ernie Thompson and Sam Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Carothers was a son of the late Randolph Carothers and Lillie Erwin Carothers. He was a retired personnel manager for Springs Industries and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. A World War II veteran, Mr. Carothers also was a member of the Shrine, Mason and Rotary Club. He was a 10-year member of the Housing Authority.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Cantrell Carothers of Lancaster; his son, Thomas Frank Carothers Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; his brother, Randolph Erwin Carothers of Shelby, N.C.; two sisters, Clarolene Conroy of Cincinnati and Evelyn Niten of Arlington, Va.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, SC.

Carrie Davis

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie McCright Davis of 1014 Flint Hill St. died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Magnolia Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roderick Pendleton officiating and the Rev. Charles A. Wood eulogizing. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Rev. John Woodard and Jane McCright. She was the widow of Isiah Davis.

A homemaker, Mrs. Davis was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was president of the Missionaries, organized the "Sunshine Band" for the youth, a member of the Willing Workers organization and was the mother of the church. She also served as "Den Mother" for Troop #306.

Surviving are two sons, George Davis and Jesse Davis, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Lellar Bowman of Winston-Salem, N.C; 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church and other times at 1071 Albert St. and 1058 Flint Hill St.

Pete Davis

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles Gordon "Pete" Davis, 63, of 3220 Cumberland Court died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III and Richard K. Spatola officiating.

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Mr. Davis was a son of the late Charles William Davis and Betty P. Davis. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was owner and president of Foxhill Sports Management and was a member of Rotary International and the American Management Association. Mr. Davis also was a member of the Houston Golf Association.

Surviving are his wife, Kristen Vaughan Davis; three sons, Christopher Gordon Davis and Joseph William Davis, both of Rock Hill, and Peter Gordon Skidmore of Fort Mill; two daughters, Melissa Joy Davis of Rock Hill and Kara Ann Tipp of Charlotte; his sister, Thelma Shown of Louisville, Ky; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill chapel, after the services at Westminster Church and other times at the home, 3220 Cumberland Court.

John DeLavello

CLOVER - Mr. John James DeLavello, 62, of 504 Flat Rock St. died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Clover Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Wayne Spears officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. DeLavello was a son of the late Joseph DeLavello. A U.S. Marines veteran, he was a retired molder at North Safety Products and was a member of Clover Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Gray DeLavello; three daughters, Theresa DeLavello of the home, Angela D. Taylor of Clover and Lisa D. Vanover of York; two stepsons, Tommy Ramsey of Lake Wylie and Joe Ramsey of Hickory Grove; three sisters, Joan D. Pietro and Helen DeLavello of New Jersey and Thersea D. Perrotta of New York; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Jayne Dunlap

LANCASTER - Mrs. Jayne Ghent Dunlap, 89, of 2444 New Cut Church Road died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Dickson officiating. Burial will be at the New Cut Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Dunlap was a daughter of the late John Ervin Ghent and Mary Taylor Ghent. A homemaker, she was a charter member of the Camp Creek Eastern Star and was a charter member of New Cut Presbyterian Church, where she served as elder, past president of the New Cut Women of the Church and taught the adult women's Sunday school class. She was the widow of James Frank Dunlap.

Surviving are her daughter, Jean Hollis of Lancaster; her sister, Ruth Kirkland of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 2240 New Cut Church Road, Lancaster.

Rowena Harper

LANCASTER - Miss Rowena Harper, 85, of 435 Chester St. died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Westside Cemetery, with the Rev. Gilbert Rowell officiating.

A native of Lancaster, Miss Harper was a daughter of the late Samuel O. Harper and Ella S. Bennett Harper. She was a member of First ARP Church.

Surviving are her brother, Samuel O. Harper of Lancaster; and two sisters, Grace Hagins and Doris Roberts, both of Albany, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster chapel, and other times at the home of Samuel Harper, 435 Chester St.
