YORK - Mrs. Vivian G. Gadd, 86, formerly of Kingsbury Road, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Monroe Manor in Monroe, N.C.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Mrs. Gadd was a daughter of the late Lawrence M. Waring and Lucy Bissett Waring. She was the widow of Charles W. Gadd.

A former secretary for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district, Mrs. Gadd was a member of Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Women of the Church. She attended Raleigh schools and was a graduate of Peace College.

Surviving are her son, Charles W. Gadd of Wake Forest, N.C.; her daughter, Lucy Choate of Waxhaw, N.C.; her sister, Mary W. McLean of Lumberton, N.C., seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to the Union County Hospice, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.

Willie Mae Beckham

LANCASTER - Mrs. Willie Mae Murphy Beckham, 91, formerly of Great Falls, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Marion Dry officiating.

A native of Converse, Mrs. Beckham was a daughter of the late J.C. Murphy and Lottie Black Murphy. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She attended Converse College and Spartanburg Methodist College.

Surviving are four daughters, Freida Lucas, Betty Tyson and Peggy Black all of Great Falls, and Bobbie Jean Lancaster of Spartanburg; her sister, Theo Murphy of Gaffney; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, 6924 Wateree Road, Great Falls, SC 29055.

Cynthia Bonfoey

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Cynthia Ann Eddy Bonfoey, 61, of 4059 Bentwood Lane died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, with the Rev. Dr. Charles S. Foss officiating. Burial will be at the columbarium of the St. Paul Episcopal Church in Pekin, at a later date.

A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Mrs. Bonfoey was a daughter of Edith Shackleford Eddy and the late Karl L. Eddy. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour where was the secretary and was a former member and secretary of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Pekin, Ill.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Williamson of Hobart, Ind., and Victoria Jeanne Krakowski of Roscoe, Ill.; two brothers, George S. Eddy of Pfafftown, N.C., and David K. Eddy of Edgemoor; and two grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

John Robinson Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John P. "Ike" Robinson Jr., 84, of 2073 Ebinport Road died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with Steve Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Robinson was a son of the late John P. Robinson Sr. and Beulah Hardin Robinson. He retired from Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co. with 35 years service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and attended Rock Hill High School. He was a member of Rogers Memorial ARP Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Nonie B. Robinson; three daughters, Peggy Robinson Joy of York, Pam Robinson Bradford of McConnells and Kay Robinson Creel of Rock Hill; two sisters, Dorothy R. Jones of Fresno, Calif. and Rebekah R. Bolin of York; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at the home, 2073 Ebinport Road.

Gothard Bridges

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. Gothard Cecil Bridges, 83, of 114 Campbell Road died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

A private graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Enon Baptist Church in Smyrna, with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Bridges was a son of the late Sidney E. Bridges and Myrtle Falls Bridges. He was a self-employed painter.

Surviving are three sisters, Ruth B. Jonas of York, Violet B. Imes of Zephyhills, Fla., and Mary B. Bolin of Temple Terrace, Fla.

Edna Darby

CHESTER - Mrs. Edna Chalk Darby, 81, of 569 Great Falls Highway died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dwight Pearson officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Darby was a daughter of the late W. Edgar Chalk and Lula Estes Chalk. She was a member of Chester ARP Church where she worked in the nursery for many years. She was retired from Springs Industries and helped operate Darby's Greenhouse. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving is her husband, Walter H. Darby.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Carrie Davis

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie McCright Davis of 1014 Flint Hill St. died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Magnolia Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roderick Pendleton officiating and the Rev. Charles A. Wood eulogizing. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Rev. John Woodard and Jane McCright. She was the widow of Isiah Davis.

A homemaker, Mrs. Davis was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was president of the Missionaries, organized the "Sunshine Band" for the youth, was a member of the Willing Workers organization and was the mother of the church. She was "Den Mother" for Troop No. 306.

Surviving are two sons, George Davis and Jesse Davis, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Lellar Bowman of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church and other times at 1071 Albert St. and 1058 Flint Hill St.

Polly McManus

LANCASTER - Mrs. Polly Stacks McManus, 85, of 1718 Baker Street died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Revs. Paul Smith and Elton Lane officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late Reece Stacks and Nettie Hunter Stacks. She was the widow of Henry Toy McManus. She was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are three sons, H.T. "Shine" McManus Jr., Joe McManus and James McManus, all of Lancaster; her daughter, Doris Hudson of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home of H.T. "Shine" McManus, 2664 Great Falls Highway in Lancaster.

Pete Davis

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles Gordon "Pete" Davis, 63, of 3220 Cumberland Court died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III and Richard K. Spatola officiating.

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Mr. Davis was a son of the late Charles William Davis and Betty P. Davis. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was owner and president of Foxhill Sports Management and was a member of Rotary International and the American Management Association. Mr. Davis also was a member of the Houston Golf Association.

Surviving are his wife, Kristen Vaughan Davis; three sons, Christopher Gordon Davis and Joseph William Davis, both of Rock Hill, and Peter Gordon Skidmore of Fort Mill; two daughters, Melissa Joy Davis of Rock Hill and Kara Ann Tipp of Charlotte; his sister, Thelma Shown of Louisville, Ky; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the services at Westminster Church and other times at the home, 3220 Cumberland Court.

KERSHAW - Mrs. Mabel Payne Coates, 63, of 227 W. Fourth St. died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church, with the Revs. Hugh McKinney and Coit Auten officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Coates was a daughter of the late Hubert Elmore Payne and Ellen Lucas Payne. She was a member of White Bluff Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are her son, Wayne Coates of Kershaw; her daughter, Pattie Estridge of Kershaw; three brothers, Thomas Payne, Nelson Payne and Truman Payne, all of Kershaw; two sisters, Clara Stroud of Liberty Hill and Betty Deese of Kershaw; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Danny and Pattie Estridge, 210 N. Ingram St., Kershaw.

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Beatrice Beckham Evans, 81, of 5560 Golf Course Road died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

A native of Williamsburg County, Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late Marshall Hilliard Beckham and Mary Gertrude Wilson Beckham. She was the widow of Bascom C. Evans. She attended the schools of Chester County, was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Clyde Evans of Ware Shoals, and Heyward Evans and Tommy Evans, both of Great Falls; three sisters, Geneval Craig and Lois Brown, both of Goose Creek, and Wyonne Johnson of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

BRONX, N.Y. - Miss Raymonde Douglas, 40, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be Thursday at Unity Funeral Chapels.

A native of Rock Hill, Miss Douglas was the daughter of Naomi Douglas and Raymond Stroud of Bronx, N.Y.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Sharon Douglas and Lillie Mamie Douglas, both of the Bronx; two brothers, Timothy Douglas and Nebro Douglas, both of the Bronx; and her grandmother, Mamie L. Douglas of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the home of Rose Backstrom, 551 Roundtree Circle, Chester.
