ROCK HILL - Mr. William Joseph Going, 29, died Monday, May 22, 2000, in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Greenridge Road Chapel. Burial will be private.

A native of Charleston, Mr. Going was the son of Meredith E. Going and Rosann McSwain Going Rose of Hanahan. He was a chemical operator with Archemica in Rock Hill. He was a graduate of Hanahan High School.

Surviving in addition to his mother and father are his stepmother, Sue Going of North Charleston; his brother, Meredith E. Going Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; his sister, Laura T. McCarty of Hanahan; and his grandparents, William McSwain and Edna B. McSwain, both of Charleston.

Joseph Shealy

MYRTLE BEACH - Mr. Joseph Marion Shealy, 79, of Myrtle Beach died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, in Myrtle Beach.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, Garden City Beach.

A native of Pomaria, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Alice Epting Shealy. Mr. Shealy retired from Nabisco after 27 years of service. He attended Clemson University and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Whitener Shealy; two sons, Richard L. Shealy of Lexington and Terry Shealy of Rock Hill; his daughter, Janis Emplit of Spartanburg; two brothers, Grady Shealy of Chapin and Charles Ray of Irmo; five sisters, Louise Corbett and Dorothy Boyd, both of Columbia, Mabel Cromer and Rubye Glymph, both of Pomaria, and Evelyn Doolittle of Spartanburg.

Memorial may be made to Shepherd of the Sea Building Fund, P.O. Box 1750, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 or American Diabetes Association, 1332 Gibson Ave., Myrtle Beach, SC 29575.

Eddie Coleman

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. Eddie Eugene Coleman, 50, of Greensboro, formerly of Blackstock, died Friday, May 12, 2000, in Greensboro.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greensboro.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Coleman was a son of Willie James Coleman Sr. and Viola Brown Coleman, both of Greensboro. He was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fairfield County. He attended public schools in Greensboro and was an Army veteran.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his daughter, LaTonya Coleman of Baltimore; three brothers, Willie James Coleman Jr., David Earl Coleman and Robert Lee Coleman, all of Greensboro; and his sister, Bertha Mae Cole of Greensboro.

Memorials may be made to Woodard Funeral Home, 3200 N. O'Henry Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27405. King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, is in charge of local arrangements.

William Dabney

LANCASTER - Mr. William T. "Ted" Dabney, 81, of 606 Gillsbrook Road died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Barnes officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Camden, Mr. Dabney was the son of the late Doby Lawrence Dabney and Anna Odessa Torrence Dabney. He was the widower of Sibyl Robinson Dabney.

He was a retired supervisor of the S.C. Department of Highways and Transportation. He was a charter member and on the board of directors of the S.C. State Employee's Association. Mr. Dabney was a Mason with the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Shelby Wright of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Cheryl Seiler

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cheryl Grace Hauenstein Seiler, 41, of 1152 Quiet Acres died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at home.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill chapel, with Pastor Dennis Seiler officiating.

A native of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Seiler was the daughter of Walter Hauenstein and Carolyn Hilding Hauenstein of Garden Grove, Calif.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Steven Seiler; her son, Gregory Seiler of the home; her daughter, Angelia Seiler of the home; her brother, Steve Hauenstein of Denver; and two sisters, Terri Rennard of Seal Beach, Calif., and Lynn Driscoll of Fresno, Calif.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Patrick Long Jr.

MACON, Ga. - Mr. Patrick D. Long Jr., 25, of 1702 Scholsfield St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Macon.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Ralph V. Washington officiating and the Revs. John Brown, Paul F. Long Sr., Walter B. White and J. Thomas Barber assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native Rock Hill, Mr. Long was a son of Patrick D. Long Sr. of Rock Hill and Bennie Y. Long of Green-wood. He attended the public schools of York County. He was employed by Wendy's restaurants of Macon.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his stepmother, Debra J. Long of Rock Hill; his son, Tremane Good of Macon; two stepbrothers, Naron Johnson and Rashawn Hall, both of Rock Hill; his sister, Anica P. Long of Rock Hill; his stepsister, Shawnnequa Brice of Rock Hill; his paternal grandparents, Harry and Hester Collins of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Ruth Young of Rock Hill.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 6 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Thursday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church.

Geneva Street

BOSTIC, N.C. - Mrs. Geneva Quinton Street, 79, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Oak Grove Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Crowe's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Cool Springs Cemetery.

A native of Union, Mrs. Street is the daughter of the late George and Amanda Worley Quinton.

Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Mitchem of Forest City, N.C., Martha Hamrick of Duncan and Nancy White of Rock Hill; her brother, James Quinton of Forest City, N.C.; three sisters, Maggie Ensley of Ruth, N.C., Georgia Young of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Mirth Street of Bostic; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice, P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.

Crowe's Mortuary and Chapel is in charge.

Edward Stroud

LITTLE RIVER ­ Mr. Edward "Eddie" Eugene Stroud, 52, of 4445 Kingsport Road, Unit 202, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at home.

The graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Stroud was the son of the late J. T. Stroud Jr. and Lillian Morgan Stroud. He was a construction supervisor for 12 years with R Griffin Co. of Charlotte. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his son, Anthony Stroud of Rock Hill; three brothers, Barney Stroud, Timmy Stroud and Buddy Stroud, all of Rock Hill; and his sister, Janet Stroud of Edgemoor.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at the home of his sister, Janet Stroud of Edgemoor.

Garland Parker

LANCASTER - Mr. Garland Parker, 72, of 135 Monroe Highway died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Johnson and Lester Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Parker was the son of the late Fraymond Parker and Barbara Bolton Parker. He owned and operated Parker's Speed Shop, and was a race car driver at the Lancaster Speedway from 1954 to 1999. He served in the Navy Sea Bee's and was stationed in Guam and Saipan during World War II. He was a member of Camp Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Levon Thomas Parker; his son, Everett Neal Parker of Heath Springs; two daughters, Janice Baker of Lancaster and Shirley Caskey of Heath Springs; two brothers, Hunter Parker of Rock Hill and James Parker of Chester; and four sisters, Helen Peek of Edgemoor and Inez Gaskins, Joanne Auten and Geraldine Parrish, all of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Oscar Peach

KERSHAW - Mr. Oscar Nelson Peach, 61, of 4019 Old Georgetown Road died Monday, May 15, 2000, at the Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Young officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Peach was the son of the late Oscar Peach and Minnie Baker Peach. He was employed by Springs Industries. He was in the National Guard for 12 years and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Young Peach; his son, Mitchell G. Baker; three daughters, Lisa Loy and Debra Baker Doster, both of Kershaw, and Teresa Polson of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Willene Walls of Aiken and Barbara Watson of Camden; his granddaughter, Amy Branham of the home; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and other times at the home.

Freddie Barnes Sr.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Freddie Kyles "Fox" Barnes Sr., 63, of 417 W. Kingston Ave. died Tuesday, May 23, 2000.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Arthur Randolph Jr. officiating and the Rev. Benjamin Murdock and Dr. C.J. Jenkins assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Rev. James S. Barnes. He owned and operated Palace of Styles in Charlotte. He joined St. Matthew AME Zion Church at an early age. Mr. Barnes attended Philadelphia Training School for Cosmetologists in Philadelphia. He was a trailblazer for many cosmetologist in the Carolinas. He was a member of the Elks Club and an advocate and monetary supporter for the Feed the Children programs in Charlotte.

Surviving are three sons, Freddie Kyles Barnes Jr., Antonio Barnes and Rodney Lenwood Barnes, all of Rock Hill; five daughters, Patricia Barnes Smith of Rock Hill, Michelle Denise Barnes of Broken Arrow, Okla.; IIena Reane Jones of New Jersey and Shamone L. Barnes and Frederica R. Barnes, both of Charlotte; three brothers, James H. Barnes and Brownie E. Barnes, both of Rock Hill, and Beauregard Barnes of Washington D.C.; his sister, Bernice McMullen of Rock Hill; and 14 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home or at 4078 Highway 5 and 1162 Doris Court. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Edward Beam

ROCK HILL - Mr. Edward Beam, 71, of 1476 Twin Lakes Road died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at home.

The service will be private.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Beam was the son of the late Melvin O. Beam and Ina Eury Beam. He was the widower of Gladys Taylor Beam.

He was retired from AME with 38 years of service as a welder. He served in the Army and Air Force during World War II. He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are his son, William "Bill" Beam of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Mary Martin of Rock Hill; two brothers, Melvin Beam and Bobby Beam, both of Rock Hill; and his companion, Freda L. McMullen of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the home of his son, Bill Beam, 2283 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Frances Poston

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Frances Mitchell Poston, 77, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Mercy South Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Page officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Poston was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Mitchell and Fannie Smarr Mitchell. She was a homemaker. She graduated from Rock Hill High School. Mrs. Poston was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte and the Garris Sunday school class.

Surviving are her son, Fred Poston Jr. of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Elaine Brooks and Debbie Farrow, both of Charlotte; two sisters, Ruth Rawls and Jo Truesdale, both of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel, 1111 East Blvd.

Taneesha Jackson

CHARLOTTE - Miss Taneesha D. "Candy" Jackson, 19, of 1019 Franklin Ave., formerly of Chester, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at King's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronald McClurkin officiating and the Revs. J. Boulware, Eugene Canty, Paul Long, Moses Lightner and Alonzo Gregory assisting. The burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Miss Jackson was a daughter of Elaine Jackson Osei of Charlotte and a stepdaughter of Atta Osei of Shelby, N.C. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Ridgeway where she was a former usher. She was employed by Lee's Living Center in Charlotte, and she attended public schools in Chester and Mecklenburg counties.

Surviving in addition to her mother and stepfather are her aunt and uncle, who raised her, the Rev. Ronald and Florence McClurkin of Chester; and two brothers, Jacques Jackson and Keomki Jackson, both of Charlotte.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of the Rev. Ronald and Florence McClurkin, 127 Carr St., Chester.
