James Williamson

FORT MILL - Mr. James L. Williamson, 82, of S.C. 160 West died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Harmon officiating.

A native of Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Williamson was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Williamson. Mr. Williamson was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was former owner and operator of Williamson's Grocery in Fort Mill. Mr. Williamson had been a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church since 1952.

Surviving are his wife, Billie Hoover Williamson; his son, Jimmy Williamson of Lexington; his daughter, Jan Williamson of Randleman, N.C.; his brother, John Williamson of Stallings, N.C.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at the church after the service.

Henry Belton

ROCK HILL - Mr. Henry Gaston Belton, 54, of 323 Maple St. died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Red Oak AME Church in Edgemoor, with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Belton attended York County public schools. He was a member of Red Oak AME Church in Edgemoor.

Surviving are one son, Darris Caldwell of Rock Hill; five brothers, Frank Belton, Charles Belton, Mack Belton, Cleveland Belton and Albert Belton, all of Rock Hill; four sisters, Louise Ingram, Emma Wade, Margaret Wherry and Annie Stewart, all of Rock Hill; and his special caregiver, Helen McCollough of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Home and other times at the home of Emma Wade, 1102 Pearson Drive, Rock Hill, SC.

J.L. Blanks Jr.

LAURENS - Mr. John Lewis Blanks Jr., 88, of 1 Martha Franks Drive died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Bass Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

A native of Edgemoor, Mr. Blanks was the son of the late John Lewis Blanks Sr. and Lillie Pittman Blanks. He was the widower of Marie Overcash Blanks. He retired from Celanese in the Extrusion Department after 29 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurens, and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill. He was a member of the Lions Club in Laurens.

Surviving are his son, John Lewis Blanks III of Charlotte; and one grandchild.

The family will receive friends an hour before the service at Bass funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Martha Franks Retirement Community in Laurens, SC.

Harriet Cahill

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Harriet Stokes Cahill, 91, of White Oak Manor died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, with the Rev. Al Boland officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Cahill was the daughter of the late Dr. James R. Stokes and Addie Rawlinson Stokes. She was the widow of Charles J. Cahill of Oswego, N.Y. She was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and later of Winthrop College, from which she received her bachelor of arts degree and later her master of arts degree magna cum laude.

She taught at Montreat and schools in South Carolina. She worked for New York Port Authority and later with Remington-Rand. She taught French and history classes at Great Falls High School. She took an active part in the Altar Guild of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior and served as Regent of the Catawba Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are her nephew, J. Stokes Mayfield of Rock Hill; her niece, Addie Rutledge of Rock Hill; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

The family will receive friends 5:30 to 7:30 Friday at the home, 353 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Memorials may be made to American Society for the Blind or to the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Rock Hill, SC.

Rev. Jordan Gladden

CHARLOTTE - The Rev. Jordan D. Gladden Sr., 90, of 4236 Dinglewood Ave. died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Little Rock AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dr. James Samuel officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

A native of Charlotte, the Rev. Gladden was a retired minister of the AME Zion Church. He worked for Western North Carolina Conference of the AME Zion Church. He was a graduate of Clinton Junior College, Johnson C. Smith University, and attended Hood Theological Seminary.

Surviving are his wife, Mary J. Gladden of the home; one son, Jordan D. Gladden Jr. of Akron, Ohio; one daughter, Rosemary Gladden of Charlotte; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at Little Rock AME Zion Church.

Long Son Mortuary Service is in charge.

James Good Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. James Lee "Jim" Good Sr., 78, of 1216 Gladstone Drive died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Roy Barnes and Archie Neal officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Cherokee, Mr. Good was a son of the late James Edward Good and Sarah Wylie Good.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired automobile dealer, having worked for Lancaster Motor Co., Ellison Motors, Bradley Motors, and Burns Ford in Lancaster and his own dealership, Jim Good Motors in Great Falls. He was a member of Jackson Masonic lodge No. 53, a Shriner and member of the Hejaz Temple, a member of the American Legion VFW and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Bagwell Good; two sons, James L. "Jim" Good Jr. of Rock Hill and William Steven Good of Arden, N.C.; one daughter, Susan Freeman of Lancaster; one brother, William "Billy" Good of Great Falls; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

William Huffstetler

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Cledis Huffstetler, 68, of 19 Cauthen St. died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The chapel service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. Lafon Hardy officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of York, Mr. Huffstetler was the son of the late Charlie Huffstetler and Julie Roberts Huffstetler. He was the widower of Frances Jordan Huffstetler. He was a retiree of Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co. with 18 years of service. He was a member of Frank Roach American Legion Post 34. He attended the Lesslie Church of God.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Huffstetler and Ricky Huffstetler, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Elaine Winn and Terri H. Beasley, both of Rock Hill; three brothers, Earl Huffstetler, Cleveland Huffstetler and Charles Huffstetler, all of Rock Hill; one sister, Sally Mae Eurban of Columbus, Ga.; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home, 19 Cauthen St., Rock Hill.

Fay Lyon

FORT MILL - Mrs. Fay Marie Vines Lyon, 73, of North Sutton Road died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverview Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Barry Lambert and Dr. Jim McGill officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Lyon was the daughter of the late Solomon Vines and Rose Vines. She was the widow of Charles Lyon.

Mrs. Lyons was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member, served as secretary for 15 years, was a member of the Winnie Baker Circle and sang in the choir.

Surviving are three sons, Butch Lyon of Fort Mill, Keith Lyon of York and Jeffrey Lyon of Rock Hill; one daughter, Brenda L. Heath of Fort Mill; one sister, Dorothy Rector of Mt. Dora, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Brenda Heath, 1615 Harris Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Glenn McDaniel

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernest Glenn McDaniel, 85, of 2155 Holland Road died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael S. Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be at the cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. McDaniel was the son of the late Alec Brady McDaniel and Ada Van Tassel McDaniel. He was the widower of of Mildred Cauthen McDaniel.

He was a York County Sherriff's deputy and a retired security guard with Rock Hill Printing Finishing. He was the former owner-operator of McDaniel's Service Station. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Frank Roach American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his great-niece, Donna A. Jones, whom he raised and was his caregiver; and many nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

Mary Kathryn McLean

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Kathryn Easterling McLean, 78, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rowland Presbyterian Church in Rowland, N.C., with the Rev. Samuel N. Thomas officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Rowland, N.C., Mrs. McLean was the daughter of the late Edward Bogan Easterling and Ethel Shadrick Easterling. She was the widow of Martin Luther McLean. She was a homemaker and a member of Rowland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one son, Luther Shadrick McLean of Rowland; one daughter, Judith M. Rowell of Fort Mill; two sisters, Hebb E. Robinson of Lancaster and Custis E. Baden of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the fellowship hall of Rowland Presbyterian Church.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Hebb E. Robinson, at 401 North Main St., Lancaster.

Clarence McWatters Sr.

FORT MILL - Mr. Clarence Alexander McWatters Sr., 71, of 403 Sidney Johnson St. died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Roland Dry and Karl Story officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McWatters was the son of the late James Alexander McWatters and Jeanette Quinton McWatters. He was a Navy veteran and a retired truck driver who worked for Smith Transfer and Yellow Freight in Charlotte. He was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church of Fort Mill, where he taught Sunday school, served as usher and was the only Deacon Emeritus for life from 1959.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Geneva Tucker McWatters of the home; one son, Clarence "J.R." McWatters Jr. of the home; two daughters, Judy Blackwelder and Debi McWatters, both of Fort Mill; seven brothers, James Thomas McWatters, Dewey McWatters, Bob McWatters, Carl McWatters and Harold McWatters, all of Chester, Gene McWatters of Charlotte and Grady McWatters of Gilbert; three sisters, Elizabeth King, Minnie McWatters and Eva Simmers, all of Chester; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church's family life center and other times at home.

Wolfe Funeral Home of Fort Mill is in charge.

Anna Schnall

CLOVER - Mrs. Anna Schnall, 89, 6082 Frieden St. died Friday, June 2, 2000, in Germany.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with Father Ed McDevitt officiating.

A native of Germany, Mrs. Schnall was the daughter of the late Joseph Oeferle and Elisabeth Oeferle. She was the widow of Friedrich Schnall.

Surviving are one daughter, Helga A. Long of Clover; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2445 Hwy. 557, Clover, SC 29710.
