Pamela Tomlinson

WEST COLUMBIA - Mrs. Pamela "Pam" Eileen Tomlinson, 39, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.

The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Baptist Church. Entombment will be at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

A native of Hialeah, Fla., Mrs. Tomlinson was a daughter of Gratten and A. Patricia "Pat" Kavangh Tomlinson.

Mrs. Tomlinson graduated from Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina. She attended Columbia International University. She was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church, where she served as G.A. Leader and Sunday school teacher and as a member of the sanctuary choir, handbell choir and prayer group. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two sons, Travis Daniel Roof and Dylan Ladd Roof; her daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Roof; two brothers, R. Perry Tomlinson of Virginia and the Rev. Timothy C. Tomlinson of Hartsville; and her sister, Melissa Jacobs of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the youth or music ministries at St. Andrews Baptist Church.

Sammy Spratt

ROCK HILL - Mr. Sammy Lee Spratt, 46, of 333 Orr Drive died Monday, July 31, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Mr. Spratt attended the York County public schools.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma Spratt; his daughter, Tiwoika Spratt of Rock Hill; and his brother, Sam Youngblood of York.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

Flossie Whiting

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Flossie Mae Gregory Whiting, 75, of 210 Garrison Road died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Memorial Garden, with the Revs. Dr. Tom Huddleston and Jerry DeVinney officiating. Burial will be at Union Memorial Garden.

A native of Union, Mrs. Whiting was a daughter of the late George Gregory Sr. and Lois Bevis Gregory. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, William "David" Rickards Jr. of Columbia, Ewin M. "Ricky" Rickards of Catawba, James H. Whiting Jr. of Catawba and Terry Wayne Whiting of Rock Hill; her daughter, Gail Elizabeth Bigham of Rock Hill; her brother, George G. Gregory Jr. of Murphy, N.C.; four sisters, Lois Sanders of Union, Sarah Kvalheim of Anderson, Betty Jean Boulware of Anderson and Mary Outz of Las Vegas.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Nancy Barnette

RICHBURG - Mrs. Nancy Jean Hargreaves Barnette, 38, of Richburg died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Cross Church, 13925 Ervin Road in Charlotte, with the Revs. Curtis Cameron and Richard Hamm officiating.

A native of West Islip, N.Y., Mrs. Barnette was a daughter of Peggy Knause Bassett and the late Chester Hargreaves. She graduated from Olympic High School in Charlotte. She worked for Allegiance Brokerage Co. of Charlotte. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richburg.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Clyde Barnette; two sons, Aaron Barnette and Alec Barnette, both of the home; her brother, Tim Hargreaves of Concord, N.H.; and two sisters, Betsy Allbee of Blacksburg, Va., and Pamela Sherer of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Richburg and other times at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to Youth Building Fund, First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 46, Chester, SC 29706.

Inez Campbell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Inez Carter Campbell, 83, of Morningside died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Campbell was a daughter of the late Ed Carter. She cared for other children in her home and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Martha Franks Sunday school class, WMU missions group and the J.O.Y. choir.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. M.J. Campbell; two sons, Jay Campbell of Greenville and Tim Campbell of Columbia; three daughters, Margaret Cothran of Greenville, Barbara Locke of Belton and Helen Kasinski of Redlands, Calif.; her brother, Ed Carter of Rock Hill; two sisters, Isabel Smith of Rock Hill and Amy Buday of Apple Valley, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church's Journey By Faith Fund, 215 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Kenny Fields

WAXHAW, N.C. - Mr. Kenny Ray "Tree" Fields, 46, of 4906 Tom Starnes Road died Friday, July 7, 2000, at Cane Creek Park Shelter No. 3.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Cane Creek Park in Waxhaw, with the Rev. Harold Morelock officiating.

A native of Sullivan County, Tenn., Mr. Fields was a son of the late Gifford Fields and Eva Ray Fields. He was a contractor.

Surviving are his daughter, Raygan Renner of Waxhaw; and his fiancee, Lisa Renner of Greenville, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to Raygan Renner of the home.

Frances Rich

BELVEDERE - Mrs. Frances Bingham Rich, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta, Ga., with the Rev. David Baker officiating.

A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Rich was a retired department manager at Montgomery Wards. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Women's Business Association of North Augusta.

Surviving are her son, Scott Rich of Rock Hill; two daughters, Mary Frances Mitchell of North Augusta and Judy McCoy of Belvedere; her sister, Margaret Rice of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Mildred Francis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Mrs. Mildred Richards Francis, 94, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee.

A native of Liberty, Mrs. Francis was a daughter of the late Gov. and Mrs. John Richards. Her father was governor of South Carolina from 1927 to 1931. She was the widow of Robert Chester Francis.

She was elder emeritus at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee and was a piano teacher for more than 60 years. She taught in Roanoke, Va., Laurent, Rock Hill, Charlotte and Tallahassee. She was a member of the Tallahassee Music Teachers Association, Tallahassee Camelia Club and Lafayette Neighborhood Association. She was a member of various choirs for more than 60 years and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter CL.

Surviving are her son, William "Bill" Francis of Cleveland, Ga.; her daughter, Margarette Francis Kennerly of Panama City, Fla.; three sisters, Margarette Richards of Camden, Jean Richards Roddey of of Rock Hill and Johng'y McCaskill of Clinton; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church Two Cents A Meal Fund of the Music Fund, 2200 North Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.

Elizabeth Griffin

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Mrs. Elizabeth "Lib" Moore Griffin, 57, of 411 E. Homestead Ave. died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cleveland Memorial Park.

A native of Cherokee County, Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of Euzelia Whistnant Moore of Shelby, N.C., and the late Graham B. Moore. She worked at the Shelby Women's Center as an operating room coordinator. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Douglas W. Griffin; her son, Scott Griffin Sr. of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Joe Moore and Herman Moore, both of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Jo Thrift of York and Ruby Thrift of Rock Hill; and her grandson.

The family will receive friends at home.

Frances Harrison

GREENWOOD, N.C. - Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Mahaffey Harrison, 75, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, N.C.

A graveside service will be noon Friday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating.

A native of Pineville, N.C., Mrs. Harrison was a daughter of the late William F. Mahaffey and Ollie Hood Mahaffey. She was the widow of C.M. Harrison. She retired from J.P. Stevens in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her son, Wayne Harrison of Charlotte; two daughters, Sue Faile of Rock Hill and Judy Jerome of Greenwood; three brothers, W.F. Mahaffey of Fort Mill, D.J. Mahaffey of Clover and Don Mahaffey of Rock Hill; two sisters, Mary Ellen Harrison and Betty Jo Collins, both of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Crawford Howell

ROCK HILL - Mr. Crawford Ashley Howell, 73, of 1886 Holland Road died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael S. Leonhardt and Dr. Jerry K. Sosebee officiating. Burial will be at Adnah United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Howell was a son of the late Fred C. Howell and Rose Ashley Howell. He retired as fire chief from the city of Rock Hill and was instrumental in starting the South Carolina Fire Academy. He was a charter member of the Rock Hill Rescue Squad and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Katie West Howell; two sons, Rick A. Howell of Chapin and Chuck L. Howell of Rock Hill; two daughters, Karen H. Morton and Candee H. Brakefield, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Fred L. "Dick" Howell of Rock Hill and Len Howell of Bullocks Creek; his sister, Joyce Pendleton of Rock Hill; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Keith and Karen Morton, 1874 Holland Road.

Memorials may be made to Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1 Adnah Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Nancy Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nancy Sue Frye Johnson, 53, of 222 Green St., Apt. 105, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating.

A native of Charlotte, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late William Alfred and Bessie Davis Frye. She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and Charlotte Business College. She was a clerical worker and a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Jimmy O. Johnson; four sons, Jimmy Johnson of Indian Land, Mark Johnson and Harold "Steve" Johnson, both of Rock Hill, and Tommy Johnson of Vermont; two daughters, Sonja Roland of Rock Hill and Kathy Sutton of Monroe, N.C.; two brothers, William A. Frye of Rock Hill and Douglas E. Frye of Indian Land; her sister, Louise Woodward of Clover; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at the home of her daughter, Sonja Roland, 848 Hollis Lakes Road.

Erma Moore

FORT MILL - Mrs. Erma Pauline Merritt Moore, 75, of 103 Thomas Ave. died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. William P. Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of Lucasville, Ohio, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Samuel Wesley Merritt and Gertrude Rose Merritt. She was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are her son, Leonard Reichelderfer of Upper Sandusky, Ohio; her daughter, Vicki Cannon of Fort Mill; her brother, John Merritt of Beaver Falls, Pa.; her sister, Lucille Meadors of New Boston, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Vicki Cannon, 103 Thomas Ave.
