Linda Welch

FORT MILL - Mrs. Linda Jean Lee Welch, 55, of 1819 Harris Road died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenrock Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gene Flack and Clifford Jones officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill's Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Findlay, Ohio, Mrs. Welch was a daughter of Ruth Lee of Van Buren, Ohio, and the late Dewey Lee Sr.

Mrs. Welch worked for Fort Mill School District No. 4 and was a member of Glenrock Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and youth director. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Mill Chapter No. 4.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Gary Welch Sr. of the home; three sons, Gary Welch Jr. and Nick Welch, both of Fort Mill, and Elden Welch of Rock Hill; her daughter, Shannon W. Mabry of Fort Mill; four brothers, Dewey Lee Jr. and Joe Lee, both of Van Buren, Ohio, and Phillip Lee and John Lee, both of Findlay; three sisters, Pat Yohnke of Jeny City, Ohio, Sharon Quirk of Findlay and Debbie Meekins of North Baltimore, Ohio; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Glenrock Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Glenrock Baptist Church Building Fund, 1815 Doby's Bridge Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715, or to Catawba Area Agency on Aging, 157 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Mary McMeekin

WINNSBORO - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rawlinson McMeekin, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Monticello United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Bolin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. McMeekin was a daughter of the late Thomas Caldwell Rawlinson and Camellia Rhodes Rawlinson. She was the widow of Charley Lee McMeekin.

Mrs. McMeekin was a retired music teacher with South Carolina public schools. She graduated from Winthrop College with an B.A. in music. She was a member of Colonial Dames and Monticello United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as pianist. She was also a member of Monticello Womens Missionary Union.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary M. Grobusky of Columbia; her sister, Cam Rhodes Seagle of Hickory, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Pope Funeral Home.

Juanita Stewart

LANCASTER - Mrs. Juanita Pettus Stewart, 76, of 123 Charles Pettus Road died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve McCormick officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late Newt Pettus and Sally Fisher Pettus. She was the widow of Henry "Byrd" Stewart.

Mrs. Stewart was retired from Celanese Corp. and was a member of Belair United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Steve R. Stewart of Rock Hill; her daughter, Vickie Stewart Marshall of Fort Mill; her sister, Blanche Carter of Anderson; four grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and other times at home.

Memorials may be made to Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelly Mullis Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Agnes Sims

SPARTANBURG - Mrs. Agnes Batson Sims, 89, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Skylyn Place Health Center.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. William Pender officiating.

A native of Southside, Tenn., Mrs. Sims was a daughter of William Hatton and Effie Jane Shannon Batson. She was the widow of William Randolph Sims Jr.

Mrs. Sims was a former school teacher in Tennessee, Kentucky and at Sullins College in Bristol, Va. She graduated from Bowling Green Business College in Bowling Green, Ky., and Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. A member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Castillion Book Club, Mrs. Sims worked for Charlie Frew and Carlyle Moore CPA while living in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her daughter, Jane Hall Sims Hammond of Spartanburg; her sister, Madelyn Batson Muther of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Vernal Alexander

GAFFNEY - Mrs. Vernal LaVoid Mobley Alexander, 76, of 518 W. Robinson St. died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Center in Spartanburg.

The funeral was Monday at Dunton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeanette Cooper Dicks and Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Alexander was a daughter of the late Ben Mobley and Louie Emma Laton Mobley.

Mrs. Alexander attended New Mount Olive AME Zion Church and graduated from Emmett Scott High School. She received a B.S. degree from South Carolina State College and earned graduate credits at Cornell University in New York, South Carolina State College and Winthrop College.

Retired from the Cherokee County school system after 40 years of teaching, Mrs. Alexander was a member of Dunton United Methodist Church, Spartanburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, United Methodist Women, Cherokee County Retired Teachers Association, Cherokee County Community Development committee, the Administrative Board, Pastor Parish Relations committee, the Arts Council and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are her son, James Levi Alexander III; her daughter, Charlotte Richardson Dryden of Columbia, Md.; five sisters, Bennie Mobley Seawright and Carrie Jerome Mobley Hampton, both of Greenville, Fredine Mobley Sloan and Willie George Mobley White, both of Detroit, and Gloria Mobley Brown of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

Foster Funeral Home is in charge.

Michael Bade

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Michael Allen Bade, 41, of 66 Holly St. died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

A native of Patuxent River, Md., Mr. Bade was a son of the late John E. Bade Sr. and Ruth Goldrup Bade. He was a carpenter millwright and was of the Catholic faith. He attended schools of Monmouth, Maine.

Surviving are his son, Michael Bade II of Great Falls; two daughters, Lisa Bade and Michelle Bade, both of Lewiston, Maine; his brother, John E. Bade Jr. of Sabattus, Maine; and his sister, Juanita Summerfeld of Coon Rapids, Minn.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.

Elizabeth Brown

LANCASTER - Mrs. Elizabeth Robinson Brown, 71, of 411 A-8 Chesterfield Ave. died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Walker officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Albert Robinson and Bertha Threatt Robinson Snipes. She was the widow of Morris Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mildred R. Carson and Iona Watson, both of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Donald Culp

ROCK HILL - Mr. Donald Dwight Culp, 53, of 1871 Dunlap Roddey Road died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at West End Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating and the Rev. Vivian Pressley assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Culp was a son of Pansy Culp Ratterree and the late Johnny W. Culp. He did carpentry work. He was a former member of Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of the Elks in Waynesburg, Pa. He was a member of West End Baptist Church and was a member and road captain of the Rock Hill Harley Motorcycle Owners Group.

Mr. Culp was a Vietnam veteran, serving 13 years in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Donald D. Culp Jr. of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Deborah A. Schudes of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Karen M. Eder of Philadelphia; his brother, Joseph W. Culp of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to National Cancer Institute for Pancreatic/Liver Research, NCI Financial Management Branch, Building 31, Room 11A-16, 9000, Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892.

The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Joseph W. Culp, 1020 Shady Oak Lane, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Ricky Huffstetler

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ricky Charles Huffstetler, 37, of 19 Cauthen St. died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. Lafon Hardy officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Huffstetler was a son of the late William Cledis Huffstetler and Frances Jordon Huffstetler. He was a self-employed carpenter and home remodeler. He attended Lesslie Church of God.

Surviving are his son, Ricky Charles Huffstetler Jr. of Richburg; two daughters, Brooke Huffstetler and Hayley Huffstetler, both of Richburg; his brother, Michael Huffstetler of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Elaine Winn and Terri Beasley, both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at the home of his sister, Elaine Winn, 11 Cauthen St.

Mary McMeekin

MONTICELLO - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rawlinson McMeekin, 87, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000.

Margaret Ray

SPARTANBURG - Mrs. Margaret Feaster Ray, 68, formerly of Chester, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will be in Spartanburg.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Ray was a daughter of the late Rufus Feaster and Gertrude Crosby Feaster. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a former member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ray attended public schools of Chester County. She retired from Spartanburg County school district.

Surviving are her husband, William Ray; two sons, Billy Ray and Roy Ray, both of Spartanburg; two daughters, Litra Renee Ray and Joel Ray, both of Spartanburg; and many grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Jack Robinson

LANCASTER - Mr. Jack W. Robinson, 61, of 1688 Sharon Lane in Arrowood died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Price officiating. The burial will be Saturday at Powers Cemetery in Clintwood, Va.

A native of Clintwood, Va., Mr. Robinson was a son of the late John M. Robinson and Clercie Hibbits Robinson. He was an administrative manager at Springs-Grace complex. He was director of customer service at the old apparel division.

Mr. Robinson received a master's degree at East Tennessee State University and was a coach for Lancaster Dixie Youth Baseball. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Bukovich Robinson; his son, John Robinson of Charlotte; his daughter, Paula English of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Tollie Robinson of Clintwood and Harry Bukovich of Hampton, Va.; and his sister, Fontilla Robinson of Clintwood.

The family will receive friends following the service at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway.
