LANCASTER - Mrs. Letha Cogar Poling, 74, of 1210 Crestfield Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ernest Thompson III officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.

A native of Webster, W.Va., Mrs. Poling was a daughter of the late Brant Cogar and Jewell Coffindaffer Cogar. She was the widow of Fredrick Poling. She retired from J.C. Penny and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her son, Roland "Ron" Poling of Monroe, N.C.; her daughter, Debra Chapman of Fayetteville, N.C.; her brother, Harold Cogar of Fairmont, W.Va.; three sisters, Anna Wolfe of Statesville, N.C., Claudia Morgan of Bidwell, Ohio, and Ruth Clark of Fairmont; and her grandchild.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Main St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Eloise Hinton

CHESTER - Ms. Eloise Hinton, 48, of 130 Hemphill Ave. died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Armenia Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Darby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Ms. Hinton worked for Rauch Industries. She was a member of Armenia Baptist Church and was a member of the usher board. She graduated from Finley High School. She attended college for two years.

Surviving are one son, Antonia Hinton of Rock Hill; four brothers, Arthur Hinton and Charlie Hall of Rock Hill, John Crockett of Charlotte and Willie Albert Hall of Baltimore; 11 sisters, Patricia Foster, Elaine Strong, Donna Meadows, Nicole Hinton, Evelyn Dickerson, Quthie Hall, Dorothy Hall and Bricie Baular, all of Chester, Deloris Holley of Rock Hill, and Maggie Floyd and Carnell Holley, both of Charlotte; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will lie in state at the church at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

David Martin

BLACKSBURG - Mr. David Lee Martin, 32, of 279 Lancaster Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Unity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Lail officiating and the Rev. Norman Philbeck assisting. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Hickory Grove.

A native of Cherokee County, Mr. Martin was a son of Richard Martin and JoAnn Tucker Martin Sullivan. He attended Unity Baptist Church in Hickory Grove.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Terri Hoyle Martin of Kings Mountain, N.C., his son, Marshall Gage Martin of Kings Mountain; his daughter, April M. Mullinax of Gaffney; his brother, Ricky Martin of McConnells; two sisters, Teresa Martin Scism and Tammy Martin McCraw, both of York; his half sister, Barbara Adkins of York; his stepmother, Vicky Martin of Rock Hill; his stepfather, Jim Sullivan of York; his paternal grandmother, Annie Mae Martin of Hickory Grove.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Harold Lowder Sr.

FORT MILL - Mr. Harold Lowder Sr., 56, of 206 Short Link St. died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Lowder was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Bear Branch Hunt Club and Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy H. Lowder; his son, Harold Lowder Jr. of Lancaster; his daughter, Judy L. Robbins of Rock Hill; his sister, Jean L. Faile of Fort Mill; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene.

Carrie Kelly

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Carrie Ford Kelly, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Weeping Mary Baptist Church, in White Oak.

A native of Blackstock, Mrs. Kelly was a daughter of the late Thomas Ford and Janie McCullough. She was the widow of Thomas Kelly Sr. She attended Weeping Mary Baptist Church. She attended schools in Fairfield County.

Surviving are four daughters, Beatrice Irby of Winnsboro, Mary K. Smith of Blackstock, Georgia Hagwood of Great Falls and Carrie K. Talford of Charlotte; five sons, Charlie Kelly of Charlotte, Willie Kelly of Great Falls and Phillip Kelly, Samuel Kelly and Ben Kelly, all of Blackstock; her sister, Pleasants Ford of Columbia; her brother, Samuel Ford of Great Falls; 40 grandchildren; and 90 great-grandchildren.

Glover Funeral Home in Winnsboro is in charge.

Hazel Tingl

FORT MILL - Ms. Hazel Fern Bennett Tingle, 53, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jeff Bedwell and Benny Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Tingle was a daughter of the late Hazel Floyd Bennet and Letha Edwards Bennet. She graduated from Fort Mill High School and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Darrell Allen Tingle of Greenwood and Michael Shane Tingle of Texas; two sisters, Patricia Crane of Greenville and Elizabeth Ford of Fort Mill; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the First Baptist Church sanctuary and other times at the home of her sister, Elizabeth Ford, 301 Academy St., Fort Mill.

Eddie Barrineau

LANCASTER - Mr. Eddie McEue Barrineau, 78, of 1507 Carmel Road died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Williamsburg County, Mr. Barrineau was a son of the late Tom Barrineau and Janie Baylor Barrineau. He retired from Daniel Construction Co. and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Steve Barrineau of Lancaster; his brother, Algie D. "Tuby" Barrineau of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

J.C. Garrison

ORANGEBURG - Mr. James Curtis "J.C." Garrison, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at Regional Medical Center.

A memorial will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Appel officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Garrison was a son of the late Hoze Garrison and Mollie Moore Garrison. He was the widower of Veda Green Garrison. He retired from Sunbeam Bakery as manager of plant sanitation. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and E.S. Jones Sunday school class. He was a World War II veteran who served in the European theater.

Surviving are his daughter, Frankie Appel of Sandersville, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1356 Amelia St., Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Eloise Hinton

Laurence Beckham

YORK - Mr. Laurence LaRoy Beckham, 84, of 101 Hall St. died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating.

A native of Cherokee County, Mr. Beckham was a son of the late Samuel Elmore Beckham and Laura Byerley Beckham. He was the widower of Margaret Walker Beckham. He was a master machinist for Celanese Corp. He was owner and operator of Western Auto Store in Clover. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a Master Mason and was a life member of Clover Alpine Lodge No. 208, having been a member for 60 years. He was a life member of York Rite Bodies in York, Crescent Shrine Club and Hejaz Shrine Temple in Greenville.

Surviving are his daughter, Judy B. Johnson of Charlotte; his brother, S.E. "Buck" Beckham of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at Central Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in York and at other times at the home of Scott and Julie Hollis, 211 Moss St., York.

Gene Hallman Sr.

COLUMBIA - Mr. Gene Marshall Hallman Sr., 63, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Providence Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Bush River Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hallman was a son of the late H.E. Hallman of Rock Hill. He graduated from Camden Military School in Camden. He attended Erskine College in Due West and graduated from Northwestern School of Mort-gage Banking in Chicago. He was a mortgage banker and real estate broker and was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club. He was a member of Irmo Navy in Irmo. He retired in 1998.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Herring Hallman of Columbia; his son, Gene M. Hallman Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; and his daughter, Pamela L. Hallman of Atlanta.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Irmo Street, Andrews Chapel.

Sarah Sanderson

Frederick, Md. - Mrs. Sarah Lee Faile Sanderson, 74, formerly of Kershaw, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Kershaw, with the Revs. Bryant D. Fersner Jr. and Todd Robinson officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Sanderson was a daughter of the late George Frank and Mitchell Catoe Faile. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kershaw.

Surviving are her son, Jeff Sanderson of Fort Lawn; three daughters, Dixie Alprin of Virginia, Marilyn Griffin of Kernersville, N.C., and Cindy James of Clarksburg, Md.; her brother, W. J. Faile of Kershaw; three sisters, Ina Schwartz of Asheville, N.C., Margaret McCloud of Camden and Verna Miller of Gaston, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jeff Sanderson, 1438 Riverview Circle, Fort Lawn.
