Grace Hinson

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Grace Irene Collins Hinson, 79, of 17 Pine Spring Drive, formerly of Lancaster, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Asheville Healthcare Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating.

Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Hinson was a daughter of the late Kelland Bessant and Brennie Bryan Crenshaw Collins.

She was the widow of Earl Joseph Hinson, Sr.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, J. Wayne Hinson of Asheville, Earl J. Hinson of Tampa Fla., and Kenneth "Butch" Hinson of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Marion Collins Porter and Erskine Blackmon, both of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel.

Bellzora Saunders

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Bellzora Saunders, formerly of Chester, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Noble Nursing Home in Baltimore.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. George Sims officiating and the Revs. J.D. McClurkin and John Willie White assisting.

Eulogy will be conducted by the Rev. Yvonne Harris of St. Paul Alpha & Omega Pentecostal Church of Baltimore.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Saunders was a daughter of the late Hillard Woods and Mary Woods.

She was the widower of Clinzo Saunders.

Surviving are one son, Theo Carter of Baltimore and two sisters, Annie Mae Sanders and Canzada White, both of Chester.

The body will be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel of Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

James Neelands

CLOVER - Mr. James Daniel "Dinah" Neelands, 78, of 300 B Willow Oaks Circle died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York County, Mr. Neelands was a World War II Navy veteran.

He served in the South Pacific on the USS Lexington.

He retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.

Surviving are his daughter, Delores N. Horton of Concord, N.C.; hisbrother, Charlie B. Neelands of Clover; his sister, Jenny N. Smith of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Edna Bellis

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Edna Holcombe Bellis, 83, of 122 Neely Court died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Drs. Shelton Sanford and William Fox officiating.

Burial will be Sept. 7 at Amwell Ridge Cemetery in Ringoes, N.J.

A native of Ringoes, Mrs. Bellis was a daughter of the late Calvin C. Holcombe and Clara Schellenger Holcombe.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

She attended Trenton Conservatory of Music from 1935 to 1937.

She studied piano under William O'Toole, an instructor at Julliard and pipe organ under Norman Landis, a church organist and composer in Flemington, N.J.

She was a church pianist and organist for more than 40 years, playing for weddings and funerals.

She retired from Rohr Industries, with 27 years service.

Surviving are her husband, Hiram Imlah Bellis ; and her daughter, Joan Marie Bellis of Sand Lake, Mich.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Kathryn Culp

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Kathryn Revels Lowther Culp, 80, of 1147 Ebenezer Road died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. today at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William C. Pender officiating.

Entombment will be 9:30 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Culp was a daughter of the late Virgil Raymond Revels and Sue Wray Revels.

She was the widow of John Wesley Lowther Jr.

She was owner and operator of Lowther Trucking Co.

She attended Winthrop Training School and graduated from Fassifern School in Hendersonville, N.C.

She was a charter member of Oakland Baptist Church and a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church.

She was a member and past president of Rock Hill Women's Club and Beta Sigma Phi, a service-civic educational sorority.

Surviving are her husband, William L. "Bill" Culp Sr. of Rock Hill; three stepsons, John W. Lowther III of North Top Sail Beach, N.C., and Ray V. Revels Jr. and Dr. William L. Culp Jr., both of Rock Hill; two stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Lowther Boulware of Sapphire, N.C., and Dorothy Culp Farmer of Greenville; and several grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, is in charge.

Mary Sligh

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Joanne Bush Sligh, 66, of 1063 Eastwood Drive died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Revs. James A. Lowery and Mike Lowery officiating.

Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Sligh was a daughter of the late Alex Bush and Ruth Huffstetler Bush.

She was a member of West End Baptist Church and the ladies S.S. class.

She retired from Aragon Mills, with 25 years service.

Surviving are her husband, Bo Sligh; her daughter, Cindy Hathcock of Rock Hill; her sister, Anita Branham of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter, Brook Bailey of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, and other times at home.

Edward Walker

COLUMBIA - Mr. Edward Raymond Walker, 77, of 251 Springtree Drive, Apt. 801, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Alterra Sterling House.

The church service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating.

Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Marion, N.C., Mr. Walker was a son of the late Nelson K. Walker and Ellen Epps Walker.

He was a member of Park Baptist Church and was an Army veteran.

He retired from J.P. Stevens, with 37 years service as a loom technician.

He retired from city of Rock Hill Waste Management Department.

Surviving are his two daughters, Catherine W. Cranford of Columbia and Teresa W. Cook of Charleston, W. Va.; his sister, Leila Avant of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel and other times at the family home, 668 Stonewall Court, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Patricia Lightner

CHESTER - Mrs. Patricia "Sis" Jennings Lightner, 47, of 603 Parkway Drive died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Otha Smith officiating.

Burial will be at Black Rock Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Lightner was a homemaker and member of Browns Chapel AME Zion Church.

She attended schools in Chester County.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest Lightner Sr.; five sons, Ernest J. Lightner Jr., Dennis L. Lightner, Allen Lightner, Sandy A. Lightner and Derek L. Lightner, all of Chester; four daughters, Julia J. Glenn of Chester, Angela M. Jennings, Rhonda A. Lightner and Tiffany E. Lightner, all of the home; six brothers, Robert Jennings, James Jennings, A.J. Jennings, Melvin Jennings, all of Chester, Sammie Jennings and Johnny Jennings, both of Gastonia, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.

The family prayer will be 8 tonight at home.

The body may be viewed at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Brenda Ervin

CHESTER - Mrs. Brenda Joyce Lillard Ervin, 50, of of 658 Pineridge Road died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandy River Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Taylor officiating and the Rev. Z. Bailey and Evangelist Tony Young assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Franklin, Ky., Mrs. Ervin was a daughter of Nettie F. Griffin Simpson and Alfred Simpson of Arizona, and the late Emmett Lillard.

She was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church in Sierra, Ariz.

She attended public schools in Kentucky and graduated form high school in Germany.

She worked for Chester County Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Donald R. Ervin; three sons, Robert Jerome Lillard of McCormick, Antonia Eugene Lillard of Arizona, and Aaron Dwayne Ervin of Chester; her step-daughter, Kadijah Debziauna Mayfield of Chester; two brothers, Mark Simpson of Fort Bragg, N.C. and William Simpson of Phoenix; two sisters, Annette Mayes and Gloria Jean-Simpson Jones, both of Sierra Vista , Ariz.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester

The body will lie in state at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Clarence Allen

KERSHAW - The Rev. Clarence Ralph Allen, 50, of 2162 McBee Highway, Jefferson, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, with the Revs. Donald Coppedge, Dr. Bill Drees and Charles Rabon of the Kershaw County Baptist Association officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

A native of Greenville, the Rev. Allen was a son of Jacob Edward Allen of Greenville and the late Bessie Eleanor Reynolds.

He was the Pastor of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He graduated from Parker High School in Greenville, Southeastern Seminary and Baptist College of Charleston.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Heaton Allen; his son, Christopher Lane Allen of Jefferson; two daughters, Eleanor Lee Russ of Greenwood and Sandra Lynne Allen of Jefferson; and his sister, Pat Howard of Greenville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Building Fund, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, SC 29718.

Ida Bostic

CHESTER - Mrs. Ida Wray Bostic, 90, of 159 Harris St. died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.

Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of York County, Mrs. Bostic was a daughter of the late William Meek Wray and Ethel Watson Wray.

She retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are her son, Claude W. Bostic of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home.
