Maggie Sanders

CHESTER - Mrs. Maggie Graham Sanders, 87, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of Chester Homes, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of the late Will Graham and Maggie Williams Graham. She was widow of Willie Sanders Sr. She was a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church and attended public schools of Chester County.

Mrs. Graham was a former domestic worker.

Surviving are her son, Felix Sanders of Olanta; her sister, Louella Moore of Chester; five grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and three great - great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Louella Moore, Town House Apartment 209, Chester. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Body will be taken to the church at Sunday at 2 p.m.

Erin Gay

NORTH AUGUSTA - Mrs. Erin Smith Gay, 87, of 518 Cumberland Ave. died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000.

A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus, Ga.

A native of Phoenix City, Ala., Mrs. Gay was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.

Surviving are her son, David N. Gay of Tega Cay; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home.

Alexa Good

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alexa Ragin Good, 86, of 809 Sumter Ave. died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at home.

The church service will be 11 a.m. today at Ebenezer ARP Church, with the Rev. Boyce Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Good was a daughter of the late Benjamin Carlisle Ragin and Annie Louise Fewell Ragin. She was a homemaker and the secretary of Guardian Fidelity Corporation. She was a 1933 graduate of Winthrop University. She was a lifetime member of Ebenezer ARP Church, where she served as president of Women of the Church. She was a member of Junior Welfare League, Trillium Garden Club and Over - The - Teacups.

Surviving are her husband, Banks Good; her son, John D. Good of Rock Hill; two daughters, Marie G. Wright of Miami and Betty G. Thornal of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and nine great - grandchildren.

Virginia Crosby

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. - Mrs. Virginia Christopher Crosby, 89, formerly of Great Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Bradley officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Crosby was a daughter of the late David Christopher and Janie Christopher. She was a member of Great Falls Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Crosby of Costa Rica and Wayne Crosby of Grass Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Florence Mahaffey of Baltimore, Lenora Swink of Reidsville, N.C., and Daisy Khouri of Columbia.

The family will receive friends following the service at Family Life Center of the Great Falls Second Baptist Church.

Dantzler - Baker Funeral home is in charge of local arrangements.

Ora Varnadore

CHESTER - Mrs. Ora Elizabeth "Lib" Varnadore, 71, of 2131 Hardin Strait Road died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Armenia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fant Steele officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Varnadore was a daughter of the late Wash W. Dover and Ora Franklin Dover. She was owner and operator of Mr. Quick Convenience Store. She attended schools in Chester County. She was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Walker Varnadore; two daughters, Judy Queen of Gastonia, N.C., and Vickie Varnadore of Chester; her sister, Ethel D. Robinson of Chester; and her grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral home.

Margaret Gibson

RICHBURG - Mrs. Margaret Sims Abrams Gibson, 86, formerly of 3778 Mountain Gap Road in Richburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Provi - dence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Rumford officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Whitmire, Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late Sen. Marvin Eugene Abrams Sr. and Fannie Mae Henderson Abrams. She was the widow of ex - legislator James Carl Gibson. She was a retired teacher. She graduated from Newberry College and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Dantzler - Baker Funeral Home.

Beulah Howze

LANCASTER - Mrs. Beulah Threatt Howze, 81, of 236 Rocky River Road died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Hopper officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Howze was a daughter of the late John Threatt and Frances Crenshaw Threatt. She was the widow of James Matthew Howze. She was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Ann Howze of Lancaster; and two sisters, Ola Threatt and Lela Threatt, both of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel.

Russell Jacobs

ROCK HILL - Mr. Russell Clyde Jacobs, 93, of 2642 Celanese Road died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at Eden Gardens.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Lewistown, Pa., Mr. Jacobs was a son of the late Walter C. Jacobs and Florence Pearson Jacobs. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was the last mayor of Ebenezer Township from 1958 to 1960. He was a retired electrical supervisor for Celanese.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Thomas Jacobs; two sons, Ronald L. Jacobs of Columbia and Gary R. Jacobs of Louisville, Ky.; his daughter, Delores J. Noerr of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; and 17 great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and other times at home.

Jada Roach

ROCK HILL - Jada Mon'e Roach, infant daughter of LaToria Burris and Travis Roach, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. at Langrum Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Osbey Roddey officiating and the Rev. Janice Wilson assisting.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her paternal grandmother, Shirley Belton of Rock Hill; her paternal grandfather Jerry Roach of Rock Hill; her paternal grandmother, Sarah Brice of Rock Hill; her maternal grandmother, Shelia Burris of Rock Hill, her maternal grandfather, Bobby Burris of Rock Hill; her great - grandmother, Elizabeth Featherstone of Rock Hill; and her great grandfather, William Featherstone of Rock Hill.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Glenn McClain Sr.

GREELEY, Colo. - Mr. Glenn McClain Sr., 72, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Fort Collins Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. George Schultz officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. McClain was a son of the late William Edward and Anna Elizabeth Taylor McClain. He worked in the textile industry for 30 years, and owned a business for three years in Central America. Mr. McClain retired from the pharmaceutical business and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Greeley and Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill. He was a member of Kersey Lions Club and Kersey Senior Center.

Surviving are his wife, Alba Sosa of Greeley, formerly of Guatemala City, Guatemala; two sons, Glenn McClain Jr. and Matthew McClain, both of Kersey; four brothers, Billy McClain, Cecil McClain, Edward McClain and Reed McClain, all of Rock Hill; four sisters, Shirley Dunlap, Grace Pruette, Margaret Sanders, all of Rock Hill, and Bernice Beatty of Wilmington, N.C.; and two grandsons.

Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, was in charge.

Geneva McDaniel

CHESTER - Mrs. Geneva McDaniel, 97, of 620 Angel Road died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sandy River Baptist Church, with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating and the Revs. Sandy Drayton, Marvin Hughes, Paul McDaniel and Prophet J.D. Hughes Jr. assisting. Eulogy will be conducted by Evangelist Cynthia Hughes. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. McDaniel was a daughter of the late Wade McDaniel and Rosie Kennedy McDaniel. She was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church, and was a former member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and Cedar Rock Baptist Church. She attended The Eternal Rock Church. She was a member of the hymn choir and A.P.&B. Society No. 14, and C.B.&A. society of the Sandy River Baptist Church. She attended public schools in Chester County. She worked for the Chester County school district.

Surviving are her daughter, Lelia Hughes of Chester; her son, Isiah McDaniel of Philadelphia; 17 grandchildren; 47 great - grandchildren; and 21 great - great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Eddie and Helen Hemphill, 116 Henry Wood Drive, Chester, SC.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester.

Helen Franklin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Helen Graham Franklin of 513 Friedheim Road died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Thomas Barber officiating and the Revs. W.B. White, Paul Long and Richard Graham assisting.

A native of York County, Mrs. Franklin was a daughter of the late Lonnie E. Graham and Helen E. Graham. She was a widow of George Franklin Jr. She graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1955. She was a member of Daughters of Light, Order of the Eastern Stars, Hillard McMoore Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle and Menzel Court Daughters of Isis.

Surviving are her husband, George Franklin Jr.; her daughter, Brenda Ladene of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Margurite Fisher of Rock Hill and Bettye Davis of Mesa, Ariz.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will be to the church at 12 noon Saturday.
