CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Wilma Gordon Lemonds, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Union Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service and at other times at the home of Mary Horne.

Arrangements will be announced by McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel.

Lucile Shivers

CHESTER - Mrs. Lucile Isom Shivers, 79, of 928 Rhinehart Road died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Ptatt officiating, and Revs. McKinley Woods and E.E. Vance assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Shivers was a daughter of the late John Isom and Sallie Walker Isom. She was the widow of Nathan Shivers. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a choir member, missionary and mother of the usher board. She was a member of AP&B Society No. 1 and CB&A Society No. 7. She attended public schools in Chester County. She attended Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Nathaniel Shivers, Roger Shivers and James "J.C." Shivers, all of Chester, and Sammie Shivers of New York; four daughters, Dorothy Tolden of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Delois Shivers and Patricia Kennedy, both of Chester, and Shirley Sanders of Rock Hill; her stepson, William Chisholm of New York; 26 grandchildren; and 10 great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery Street., Chester, SC.

The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Emmanual Sowell

KERSHAW - Emmanual Sowell of 226 West 2nd St. died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Highland Heights Cemetery in Kershaw.

Emmanual was a son of Andrian Martice Sowell and Sharon Annie Wade Sowell.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grandparents, Larry E. Sowell and Terry Sowell of Kershaw; his maternal grandparents, Eduvina Wade of Lancaster and Robert Wade of Lando; his paternal great - grandmother, Mary Ruth Sowell of Kershaw; and his maternal great - grandmother, Ann Wade of Lando.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, is in charge.

Sammual Sowell

KERSHAW - Sammual Sowell of 226 West 2nd St. died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

Cleola Strait

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cleola Griffin Strait of 850 - A S. York Ave. died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Woods officiating and the Revs. E. Garrison and Charles Dunlap assisting.

A native of York County, Mrs. Strait was a daughter of the late Sam Griffin and Carrie Woodard Griffin. She was the widow of Lindsey Strait. She graduated from high school and attended Friendship Junior College. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the gospel choir. She was a member of the Deacons Wives and was an usher. She was a member of the Rose of Sharon Eastern Star Chapter No. 30. She was a laundry presser until retirement.

Surviving are six sons, Lindsey Strait Jr. of Annapolis, Md., Frank Strait, Billy Strait, Larry Strait and Henry Strait, all of R ock Hill, and Sam Strait of Oxon Hill, Md.; two daughters, Louise Sanders of Gaithersburg, Md. and Betty McCrorey of Rock Hill; her brother, Henry Griffin of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Ella Long of Rock Hill; 21 grandchildren; 34 great - grandchildren; and five great - great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be on view at 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Michael Watts

LANCASTER - Mr. Michael Lee Watts, 52, of 1627 Hillcrest Ave. died Friday, September 15, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Bert Welch officiating.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Watts was a son of the late Willie Henry Watts and Mary Ellen Outen Watts. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church and was a superintendent in the water and sewer department for the City of Lancaster.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Stacks Watts; two sons, Rodney M. Watts and Chris Watts, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Clyde Watts and Jack Watts, both of Lancaster; and his sister, Nina Jo Wright of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home of Dorothy Stacks, 212 South Potter Road in Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 400 Purcival Road, P.O. Box 6604 Columbia, SC 29260.

Charles Addison Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles Aimar Addison Jr., 65, of 2865 Faile Road died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The church service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Kenneth Walters and Tommy Williams officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. Addison was a son of the late Charles A. Addison Sr. and Annie Barbara Fisher Addison. He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co., where he worked for 46 years. He worked part - time in maintenance at Hampton Inn.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Faile Addison; two daughters, Janice A. Good and Karen A. Adams, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jack Addison and George Addison, both of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1229 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, 312 , Columbia, SC 29204.

Maggie Bailey

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maggie Stevenson Bailey, 91, formerly of Lige Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Washington Funeral Home Chapel, Great Falls. Burial will follow at Fairview AME Zion Church, Great Falls.

A native of Heath Springs, Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late Professor Samuel Henry and Mary McCullough Stevenson. She attended Chester County schools. She graduated from Clinton Junior College and Johnson C. Smith University. She received her master's degree from Columbia University. Mrs. Bailey taught in Rock Hill schools. She was a member of Fairview AME Zion Church and attended Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her sister, Keturah "Katie" Gaston of Fort Lawn; two care givers, Queen Williams of Fort Lawn and Christopher Stevenson of Altadena, Calif.; and one nephew, David Jasper Gaston of Great Falls, whom she helped raised.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at Washington Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of Queen Williams, 5677 Ponderosa St., Fort Lawn.

Evelyn Bushue

RANKIN, Ill. - Mrs. Evelyn L. Bushue, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Provena United Samaritan's Medical Center in Danville, Ill.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rankin, with the Rev. Tony Lee officiating. Burial will be at Rankin Union Cemetery.

A native of Mason, Ill., Mrs. Bushue was a daughter of Chester Hinkle and Mabel Scruggs. She was the widow of Ernest Bushue of Edgewood, Ill. A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rankin, she was a member and president of the Altar & Rosary Society. She sang in the church choir and was Rankin's first PTA president.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Bushue of Rock Hill and Harold Bushue and Mike Bushue, both of Rankin; four daughters, Belva Trudeau of New Hall, Calif., Judy Johnson of Columbus, Ind., Janet Bushue of Danville and Patty Fancher of Columbus, Ind.; four brothers, Robert Hinkle of St. Louis, Milton Hinkle of Effingham, Ill., Ted Hinkle of Teutopolis, Ill., and Jim Hinkle of St. Louis; four sisters, Eileen O'Donnel, Virginia Poynte and Avenele Peters, all of Effingham, Ill., and Betty Martin of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren; and 38 great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin and one hour before the church service.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or to the charity of one's choice.

Frances Callaham

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances O'Shields Callaham, 88, of Morning - side Assisted Living in Rock Hill, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Lowery officiating.

A native of Jonesville, Mrs. Callaham was a daughter of the late John Carson O'Shields and Martha Jane Sanders O'Shields. She was the widow of John William Callaham. A homemaker, she was a charter member of Myers Park Baptist Church and was a charter member of Myers Park Country Club, both in Charlotte.

Surviving are her daughter, Jayne Burton of Lake Wylie; four step - grandchildren; and five step - great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the home of Jayne and Tom Burton Sr., 2204 Duck Cove Lane, Lake Wylie. Marion Campbell Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Marion Sanders Campbell, Sr., 93, of 127 Murrah Drive died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

The church service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Lucas officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Fort Lawn, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Major and Lizzie Varnadore Campbell. He was the widower of Pansy Giles Campbell of 465 Arch Drive. He was a farmer and worked for the Highway Department building roads. He also worked for Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company as a framer for 45 years.

Surviving are three sons, Marion S. Campbell Jr. of Plano, Texas, Thomas G. Campbell of Williamsburg, Va., and Paul L. Campbell of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, the Rev. M. J. Campbell Jr. and James Campbell, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Marie Arthur and Vernelle Wasylewski, both of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great - grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.

Ernest Carroll

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernest Hill Carroll, 94, of India Hook Road died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Westminster Towers.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. William Pender officiating.

A native of York, Mr. Carroll was a son of the late William Rainey Carroll and Susan Hill Carroll. He was a retired businessman and was founder and president of Carroll Beverage Co., a soft drink company. He was president of civic and business organizations including Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Bottlers Association and South Carolina Rehabilitation Board. He was president of Rock Hill National Bank. He was a member and elder of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 77 years, Virginia Bratton Carroll.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.
