Leon M. Shealy, 83, formerly of 206 Elm Street, Prosperity, widower of Frances Counts Shealy, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Lowman Home.
Mr. Shealy was born on May 5, 1921 in Little Mountain, a son of the late L. Magnus and Mary Stoudemire Shealy. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired employee of South Carolina Electric & Gas. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was a former member of the Congregational Council, a member and former teacher of the Happy Hearts Sunday School Class, a member and former treasurer of the Leisure Group, and a member of Lutheran Men. He was a former member of the Prosperity Town Council and a former member of the Prosperity Civitan Club.
Mr. Shealy is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Phyllis S. and Bill Barnette of Aiken, Marysue S. and Eddie Rivers of Prosperity, Marella S. and Fred Reid of Anderson; a sister, Marjorie Wicker of Little Mountain; and eight grandchildren; Laura B. Jackson, Keri B. Bukovitz, Chris Barnette, Suzanne R. Medlock, Katie Reid, Claire Reid, Hunter Reid, and Todd Reid; and one great grandson, Bryce Medlock. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert D. Shealy and a sister, Evelyn Wicker.
Funeral services for Leon M. Shealy will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P. M. at Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Eric Fink. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, PO Box 188, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Wicker, Robert Wicker, Frederick Wicker, Daniel Shealy, Raymond Weible, Mike Bedenbaugh, Boyd Bedenbaugh, and Bob Whitlatch.
Honorary pallbeareres will be the members of the Grace Lutheran Church Congregational Council.

Azilee Satterwhite McLeod
November 8, 2004

Azilee Satterwhite McLeod, 95 of White Oak Manor, formerly of 1754 Bush River Road, Newberry, widow of John Robert “Bob” McLeod, died Monday, November 8, 2004.
Mrs. McLeod was born in Newberry County on August 6, 1909, the daughter of the late Frank M. and Estelle Teague Satterwhite. She was a very active member of the Bush River Baptist Church, the Martha Franks Sunday School Class, W. M.U, and the Newberry County Home Demonstration Club.
Mrs. McLeod is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John Robert and Phoebe McLeod of West Columbia and James C. and Kitty McLeod, and Edward and Sadie McLeod, all of Newberry; a brother, Earl Satterwhite of Newberry; seven grandchildren, Bobby McLeod, Sandra Schrank, Deborah Massingale, Nancy Key, Bryan McLeod, and Beverly McLeod, and Eddie McLeod; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers Claude Satterwhite and Haynard Satterwhite.
Funeral services for Mrs. Azilee S. McLeod will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Thursday at the Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Glenn Mosteller, the Rev. Thomas Morrow and the Rev. Todd Kirkland. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McLeod, 5184 Bush River Road, Newberry.
Active pallbearers will be Wayne Satterwhite, William Satterwhite, Bryan McLeod, Bobby McLeod, Steve Massingale, and Jerry Satterwhite, Daren Millstead, and Larry Millstead, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers should be members of the Martha Franks Sunday School Class.

Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore

Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore, 70, of 5238 Crowder Road, Kinards, wife of J. R. Longshore, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at Summit Place in Simpsonville.
Mrs. Longshore was born on Oct. 18, 1934 in Laurens County, a daughter of the late J. Harold and Betty Lou Davenport Cunningham. She worked with her husband and sons at J. R. Longshore and Sons Land Clearing. She was a member of Bush River Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir.
Mrs. Longshore is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Joan Longshore Waldrop of Kinards; two sons James Robert Longshore, Jr. and Harold Michael “Mike” Longshore both of Kinards; two sisters, Ann Cunningham Holsonback of Cayce and Ruth Cunningham Clewis of Rockhill; four brothers, Freddie Cunningham of Clinton, Harold Cunningham of Simpsonville, Terry Cunningham of Kinards, and Frank Cunningham of Newberry; and four grandchildren, Brenda McCracken, Brandy Cutshall, Danielle Waldrop, and Courtney Longshore. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cunningham.
Funeral services for Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Glen Mosteller and the Rev. Wayne Wicker. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and will be at the residence.5238 Crowder Road.

Clifton E. “Red” Dorn
December 3, 2004

Clifton E. “Red” Dorn, 90, of Springfield Place, Newberry, widower of Hattie “Sug” Kesler Dorn, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dorn was born on February 27, 1914 in Anderson County, a son of the late, Thomas O. and Florence Banes Dorn. He was a retired employee of Newberry Mills, a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, a former member of the Congregational Council and a former member of Lutheran Men.
Mr. Dorn is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and great great nieces and great great nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Edna Crawford, Margaret Dagenhart, Merle Jones, and Madge Butler and three brothers, Clinton Dorn, Herbert Dorn, and Kenneth Dorn.
Funeral services for Clifton E. “Red” Dorn will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.

Cathryn Livingston Ruff

Cathryn Livingston Ruff, 94, of 13989 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, widow of Raymond H. Ruff, Sr., died Saturday, December 04, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Ruff was born on September 26, 1910 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late Berry Mosby and Alma Kibler Livingston . She was a 1931 graduate of Newberry College and she taught school in Newberry and Kershaw Counties. She was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church and the Pearl Counts Circle and she was a former Sunday School teacher of the Primary Department for many years and a former member of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club.
Mrs. Ruff is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Ruff Sease and David E. Sease of Newberry: a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond H. Ruff, Jr. and Vicki Shealy Ruff of Newberry: four grandchildren, Rebecca Harmon Steen, David O. Harmon, Cathryn “Beth” Ruff Jaeger, and Raymond H. Ruff, III; a great granddaughter, Mallorie A. Jaeger; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Owens Livingston of Columbia and Willie Ruff of Prosperity.
Funeral services for Cathryn Livingston Ruff will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Wightman United Methodist Church by the Rev. Eddie Taylor. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Heyward L. Frick

Heyward L. Frick, 80, of 214 Lovelace Circle, Prosperity, husband of Rosalyn Hawkins Frick, died Thursday, January 27, 2005 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Frick was born on February 8, 1924 in Chapin, a son of the late John G. and Annie Wessinger Frick.
Mr. Frick was an Army veteran of War World II. He was a member of Mr. Pilgrim Lutheran Church and served on the congregational council in his earlier years. Mr. Frick retired from Cannon Construction Company.
Mr. Frick is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Susan Bishop of Newberry and Julie Creel of Chapin; two sisters, Evelyn Elbert of Ohio and Mary Frances Aull of Pomaria; a brother, Claude L. Frick; five garndchildren, Sarah Bishop, Joseph S. Bishop, Benjamn Bishop, Santana Creel, and Taylor Creel; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, L. G. Frick and Oscar Frick.
Funeral services for Heyward L. Frick will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Elford Roof. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence, 214 Lovelace Circle, Prosperity.

Otis W. Puckett, 80, of 2018 Highway 66, Whitmire, husband of Dot Gilliam Puckett died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg.
Mr. Puckett was born on May 12, 1924 in Laurens County, a son of the late G.R. “Russ” and Florence Brown Puckett. He retired from Carlisle Finishing Co He was a member of Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church and the American Legion Post #70.
Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda P. and J. Marsh Temple of Charleston; a grandson, Jason Temple of Whitmire; and a stepson, Joe Temple of Greenville.
Funeral services for Otis W. Puckett will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Whitmire Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Ray Massey, Rev. John Leopard, and Rev. Bill Yon. Interment will be in Whitmire Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire.
