Willie Mae Burris
CHESTER - Miss Willie Mae Burris, 83, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of 206 Center St., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Chester County Nursing Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Benson Cemetery in Chester, with the Rev. J.D. McClurkin officiating.
A native of Chester County, Miss Burris was a daughter of the late Robert Burris and Gertrude Vance Burris. She attended Chester city schools and graduated from Finley High School. She attended Brainerd Junior College in Chester. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Benedict College in Columbia. She received a master's degree from Columbia University in New York.
Miss Burris taught in the public schools of Chester County, with more 30 years service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Senior Choir and Pulpit Aid Club. She was a member of the Palmetto Education Association, the SCEA Chester County Local Chapter, the NEA and was a member of Classroom Teach-ers of Chester County. She was active in Queen Bath Sheba No. 7, Order of Eastern Star, Zeta Phi Beta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., the AP&B Society and the Christian Burial Aid Society.
Surviving is her brother, James Burris of Cambridge, Mass.
The family will receive friends at the home of Timothy Owens, 1790 Baton Rouge Road, Chester.
The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. today.

Alberta Currence
KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Ms. Alberta "Bert" Currence, 68, of 319 Water St. died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James United Methodist Church in York, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York, she was a daughter of the late John Andy Currence and Clara Blair Currence.
She was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church in York.
Surviving are three sons, Tony C. Currence of the home, Jerry A. Currence of Gastonia, N.C., and John W. Gordon of Kings Mountain; seven daughters, Martha G. Reid of Greensboro, N.C., Charlotte C. Watkins, Jacqueline Currence and Gloria G. White, all of Kings Mountain, Sherry C. Jenkins and Debra C. Allison, both of Gastonia, and Gail C. Dawkins of Charlotte; two brothers, Dequincy Currence of Winston-Salem, N.C, and John W. Currence of Queens, N.Y.; her sister, Dorothy Currence of Greens-boro; and her grandson whom she raised, Stacy L. Adkins of Richmond, Va.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James United Methodist Church.

Cora Hoey
CLOVER - Mrs. Cora Ann Bailey Hoey, 76, of 5730 Oakridge Road died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church in Lake Wylie, with the Rev. Terrence Jones officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in York County, Mrs. Hoey was a daughter of the late Violet Lytle and Bishop Bailey. She joined Liberty Hill AME Zion Church and was a member of the hymn choir. Mrs. Hoey was a former member of Boyd Friendship Baptist Church Gospel Chorus in Lake Wylie.
Mrs. Hoey attended Clover schools and was retired from Pharr Yarns Inc. in McAdenville, N.C.
Surviving are her sister, Mary Barnett of Lake Wylie and her stepbrother, Percival Tate of Laurinburg, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home in York and at other times at the home.

Lawrence McFadden
ROCK HILL - Mr. Lawrence J. "Pender" McFadden, 55, of 950 Pearson Drive died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Margaret Gilley
OKLAHOMA CITY - Mrs. Margaret G. Gilley, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Lake Care Center Assisted Living in Oklahoma City.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bill Merritt Funeral Chapel in Bethany, Okla., with Chaplin Adrian V. Martin officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Gilley was a daughter of John Adams and Nettie Clements. She was of the Presbyterian faith. She attended Rock Hill schools, Winthrop University and Kings Business College. She worked with Air Transport Command during World War II. She retired from Oklahoma State University as house mother of a fraternity and was active for many years in the Oklahoma State Miss America Pageant.
Surviving are her son, Richard E. Gilley of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Patricia A. Underhill of Broken Arrow, Okla.; her sister, Louise A. Sibley of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Bill Merritt Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, is in charge.

Gregory Lackey
GREENVILLE - Mr. Gregory Curtis Lackey, 24, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, in Casablanca, Morocco.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Buncombe St. United Methodist Church Chapel, with the Revs. Bob Hall and Harry Crosby officiating. A wake will be after the service. Eulogies will be offered by family and friends. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sutton Funeral Home in Pageland. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pageland.
A native of Atlanta, Mr. Lackey was a son of Curtis S. Lackey and Judy Arant Lackey, both of Greenville. He was a graduate of Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, the University of South Carolina Honors College and the Darla Moore School of Business Masters in International Business Program.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Brett R. Lackey of Clemson; his sister, Rebecca J. Lackey of Charleston; his paternal grandmother, Sallie Newton of Clemson; and his maternal grandmother, Pearl S. Arant of Pageland.
The body may be viewed at Mackey Mortuary from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mackey Mortuary. The family will not be present.
The family will receive friends at the Wake after the funeral service.

Rolanna Pearson
CHESTER - Mrs. Rolanna Brice Pearson, 80, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of 568 W. Elliott St., died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fairfield County, with the Rev. Moses Lightner officiating and the Rev. T.G. Green assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Woodward, Mrs. Pearson was a daughter of the late John A. Brice Sr. and Mary Chisholm Brice. She was the widow of Ernest Pearson. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She attended Fairfield County schools.
Surviving are two sons, David Pearson of Chester and Robert Pearson of Enoree; three daughters, Sydella Boyd of Baltimore and Mary Ann Lowry and Lillie Mae Johnson, both of Chester; two brothers, John Brice of Baltimore and Robert Lee Brice of Chester; three sisters, Eunice B. White of Baltimore and Mary B. Davis and Ruth B. Hinton, both of Chester; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Ann and Robert S. Lowry, 568 W. Elliott St.
Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Andrew Raulerson Jr.
YORK - Mr. Andrew Joseph Raulerson Jr., 82, of 111 S. Congress St. died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in York.
The funeral will be in Beverly Beach, Fla.
A native of Hoboken, Ga., Mr. Raulerson was a son of the late Andrew Joseph Raulerson Sr. He was a body shop repair person and was a member of the Coast Guard during World War II.
Surviving is his son, George Raulerson of Beverly Beach, Fla.

Willie Mae Bigham
FORT MILL - Mrs. Willie Mae Ashley Bigham, 84, of 213 Maple St. died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with Dr. Ronald Daves and the Rev. Roland Dry officiating.
Born in Lancaster County, Mrs. Bigham was a daughter of the late Ada Ashley and Houston Mc-Manus. She was the widow of Robert Roy Ashley and Baxter Bigham. She was retired from Lance Inc. and was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU and senior citizens group.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Floyd "Tub" Ashley of Fort Mill and Lawrence Ashley of Monroe, N.C.; her daughter, Elsie Helms of North Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Harry McManus and Wylie McManus, both of Waxhaw, N.C.; two sisters, Shirley Helms of Fort Mill and Kathleen McQuirter of Waxhaw; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of "Tub" Ashley, 213 Maple St., Fort Mill.

Patricia Duffen
RICHBURG - Mrs. Patricia Evon Rhinehart Duffen, 49, of 601 Bernice Lane died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, with Father John Giuliani officiating.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Duffen was a daughter of Dorothy Warr Rhinehart and the late Floyd Alonzo Rhinehart. She worked for Chicago Pneumatic.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Charles R. Duffen; her son, Sean Duffen of Lawrence, Mass.; her daughter, Kimberly Faulkner of Bradford, Mass.; three sisters, Irmia "Judy" Bartlett and Loretta Bailey, both of Rock Hill, and Gretchen Smith of Charleston; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Richard Brafford, 55, of 636 Stonewall Court died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at home.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James L. Tucker of 616 Simpson St. died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Margaret Falls
CLOVER - Mrs. Margaret "Ruby" Parrish Falls, 90, of 102 Memorial Drive died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Clover, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating and the Rev. Warren Fowler assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
A native of Clover, Mrs. Falls was a daughter of the late Dennis B. Parrish and Jennie Hedgepath Parrish. She was the widow of Howard B. Falls. She was a homemaker and a retired spinner.
Surviving are her son, Thomas H. Falls of Clover; her brother, Paul Parrish of Damascus, Va.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

Lawrence McFadden
ROCK HILL - Mr. Lawrence J. "Pender" McFadden, 55, of 950 Pearson Drive died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rehoboth AME Zion Church, with the Rev. W.H. Woods Jr. officiating and the Revs. Leroy Ellison, W.M Browning and Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. McFadden was a son of Maggie L. Barber McFadden of Rock Hill and the late Dan McFadden. He was a member of Rehoboth AME Zion Church, the hymn choir, the all male choir and the mass choir. He was a former usher and trustee. He was a member of St. Peters Masonic Lodge No. 142 and the Progressive Chapter No. 33 Order of Eastern Star. He was chaplain of Masonic Lodge and attended the public schools of Chester County. He was a former cement finisher.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Yvonne C. McFadden of Rock Hill; his son, Lewis L. Hutchison Jr. of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Lawanda S. Hutchison, Crystal McFadden and Yvonne C. Hutchison, all of Rock Hill; four brothers, Nathaniel McFadden of Charlotte, Jimmy Caldwell and James Caldwell, both of Chester, and Gene Degraffenreid of Edgemoor; six sisters, Louise White of Charlotte, Maggie Caldwell of Chester, and Constance Perry, Janet Cook, Mary McCrorey and Betty Williams, all of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight with Masonic rites at Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester and from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Rehoboth AME Zion Church, with Eastern Star Rites.

1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Kings Mountain Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Ossie McManus
GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Ossie Martin McManus, 78, of 55 Miles Road died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Nix officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Blacksburg, Va., Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late James Wilton Martin and Mary Maude Bryant Martin. She was the widow of William Hazel Robinson and Lyde E. McManus. She retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She graduated from Thornwell Children's Home in Clinton. She was a church school teacher and teacher's assistant in special education at Thornwell.
Surviving are two sons, James W. McManus of Great Falls and David McManus of McComb, Miss.; two daughters, Teresa M. Warr of Great Falls and Hazel Robinson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

JoAnn Wallace Munn
YORK - Jo Ann Wallace Munn, the first woman elected to the York City Council, died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, N.C.
She was 55.
"She was just a very nice person who had the city in her heart," said Heyward Reid, a York City Council member who served with Munn. "She was an exceptional council member - a team player. She wasn't a person to let the things she was interested in overshadow the things what council was working toward."
A native of York, Munn was a daughter of the late William Lewis Wallace, former mayor of York, and Elyn Colgin Wallace. She was a second-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in 1986 when she took office. She stepped down from the council in 1994.
Munn, who graduated from York High School in 1963, worked at the Head Start Program, then worked for Carolina Community Action from 1968 to 1973. She worked at Clover Child Development from 1974 to 1977. She had worked for the York school district since 1978. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1978 and received her master's degree from Winthrop.
She was a member of Circle
No. 1 at First Presbyterian Church. She was president of Town and Country Book Club.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. J. Todd Speed officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Freddie Munn Sr. of York; her son, Freddie Munn Jr. of Columbia; her daughter, Elyn Munn Lubiato of York; and two sisters, Peatsa Wallace of Atlanta and Mary Elyn W. Carroll of York.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at home.

Richard Brafford
ROCK HILL - Mr. Richard Lee Brafford, 55, of 636 Stonewall Court died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum and the Rev. Tim Boan officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Brafford was a son of Rosalie Bollinger Brafford and the late Fredrick Aaron Brafford. He was a disabled veteran who retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of staff sergeant after two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and the Wal-Mart Coffee Club.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Troutman Brafford; and his brother, Fredrick Aaron Brafford Jr. of Shalimar, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, and at other times at the home of Charles and Patty Carroll, 1011 Comer Road, Rock Hill.
