FORT MILL - Mrs. Helen Ruth Bennett McGuirt, 72, of 107 Walker St. Extension died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The church service will be 1 p.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, with Dr. Robert C. Monson officiating and the Rev. Joe Tysinger assisting. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
A native of Matthews, N.C., Mrs. McGuirt was a daughter of the late J.R. Bennett and Louise Elmore Bennett. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Fort Mill. She was a charter member of the Lionee Club in Fort Mill and was a member of the Lions Club.
Surviving are her husband, Vance McGuirt; her son, Larry McGuirt of Lexington; her brother, Bobby Bennett of Rock Hill; her sister, Joan Patterson of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1298, Fort Mill, SC 29716-1298.

Florence McClinton
CHESTER - Mrs. Florence L. "Aunt Boot" Graham McClinton, 64, of 628 Lancaster Road died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Center St., Chester, with the Rev. David Walker officiating and the Rev. William A Chisholm assisting. Burial will be at Mount Prospect Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. McClinton was a daughter of the late Lawrence Graham and Sally Elizabeth Wise Graham. She was the widow of Jerome McClinton. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was a member of the hymn choir, missionary, church aide, CB&A Society No. 21. She was a former member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church. She attended Chester County public schools. She was retired from Schlegel Manufacturing Co. in Chester.
Surviving are four sons, Tee Ward Graham of the home; Lawrence Graham of Warrenton, N.C., Jerome Graham and Will Roger Graham, both of Chester; five daughters, Linda G. Cornwell and Gladys Johnson, both of Charlotte, Stella G. Brown and Hattie G. McClain, both of Chester, and Vanaglee Walker of Catawba; two sisters, Fannie Mae Johnson and Mary G. Gladden, both of Chester; three stepdaughters; her stepson; 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from
1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

James Neal
ROCK HILL - Mr. James Edward Neal, 69, of 2793 Dogwood Circle died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The chapel service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. James Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Neal was a son of the late John Henry Neal and Annie Simmons Neal. He was of the Methodist faith and served in the Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1983 with 27 years of service. He was a past member of the Rock Hill Elks Club and American Legion. He was a hunter and raised champion bird dogs.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Wolfe Neal; his daughter, Terry McKenzie Tolson of Kingsport, Tenn.; three brothers, John H. Neal of Myrtle Beach, Albert L. Neal of Fort Lawn and Bob L. Neal of Rock Hill; his sister, Ruth Neal Wolfe of Catawba; two granddaughters; and a special nephew, Robert L. Ewing of Westminster, Colo.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and other times at home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Louella Gunn
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Louella Canty Gunn, 59, of 1186 Springdale Road died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
The funeral was Tuesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, with Bishop Pieter Reynders officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Gunn was a daughter of the late Henry Canty and Artie George Canty.
She was a member of the Catawba Indian Nation. She was a pottery maker and Indian artifacts collector. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Catawba Ward.
Surviving are her husband, Davis H. "Bill" Gunn; her son, David Gunn Sr.; her daughter, Nancy J. Gunn of Rock Hill; five brothers, Bobby Canty of Lyman, James Canty of Chester and Leonard Canty, Marion Canty and Alva Canty, all of Rock Hill; four sisters, Nellie Gunn, Emily Rabon, Teresa Canty and Stella Stokes, all of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, David Gunn, 109 Arbalest Court, Rock Hill.

Willette Sturdivant
SALISBURY, N.C. - Mrs. Willette McCall Sturdivant, 73, of 807 N. Green St. died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Northeast Congre-gation of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Brother Steven Foster officiating. Burial will be at U.S. National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C.
A native of Rowan County, N.C., Mrs. Sturdivant was a daughter of the late Mitchell McCall and Catherine Pitts McCall. She was the widow of Rupert Sturdivant. She graduated from J.C. Price High School in Salisbury. She retired from the VA Medical Center and Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was a member of Northest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Sturdivant of Salisbury; three daughters, Brenda Robinson of Rock Hill, Rita Sturdivant of Salisbury and Christine Rhyne of China Grove, N.C.; two brothers, Clayton Sturdivant of Salisbury and Larry Sturdivant of East Spencer, N.C.; four sisters, Juanita Ramsey, Madgeline Sturdivant and Helen Norris, all of Salisbury, and Gloria Sturdivant of East Spencer; two grandchildren reared in the home, Ronald Sturdivant Jr. of Salisbury and Akeem Abdullah Malik "Derrick Graham" of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Northeast Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Salisbury.

Ada Beard
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Ada Mae Beard, 79, of 2929 Ridge Ave., formerly of Chester County, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, 747 W. Trade St. in Charlotte. Burial will be at Loving Charity Baptist Church cemetery in Richburg.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Beard was a daughter of the late John Dixon and Nancy Blake Dixon. She attended the public schools of Chester County. She was a member of Loving Charity Baptist Church. She was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church in Charlotte. She later moved her membership to Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member of the senior missionary circle and the nurses guild, was a Sunday school member and a pastor's aide.
Surviving are two brothers, Johnny Dixon of Boston and Frank Dixon of Baltimore; and nine sisters, Ossie Deese of Charlotte, Maggie James, Lillie Rooks, Flora Bell Hall, Henrietta Blackwell, Daisy Blackwell, and Sarah Ortis, all of Baltimore, Marie Jackson of Chicago and Estelle Merrick of Boston.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home in Charlotte.

James Benjamin
ROCK HILL - Mr. James Benjamin, 58, of 309 Branch St. died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Pied-mont Medical Center.
The family will receive friends at 359 Frank St. in Rock Hill.
Arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

Baynard Olson
TEGA CAY - Mrs. Baynard M. "Snooty" Olson, 65, of 1077 Gauguin Lane died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel.

Alejandra Contreras
ROCK HILL - Miss Alejandra Lorena Contreras, infant daughter of Epifanio Contreras and Maria Segura Contreras, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park, with Father William Pentis officiating.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother, Alexandro Velasco of the home; her sister, Joselyn Cambo of the home; her paternal grandparents, Bonifacio Contreras and Jacoba Contreras, both of Mexico; her maternal grandparents, Fabian Segura and Isabel Segura, both of Rock Hill.
Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, is in charge.

Jacob Eury Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Jacob Joseph Eury Jr., 83, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Tirzah ARP Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Shannon Duncan officiating.
A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mr. Eury was a son of the late Jacob Joseph Eury Sr. and Ada Poston Eury. He retired from Hoechst-Celanese Corp. He worked at Highland Park Manufacturing in Rock Hill. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Smith Eury; two sons, Steven Eury of York and David Eury of Rock Hill; three daughters, Rebecca Brown of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Crystle Mosier of Fort Mill and Verlyne H. Henson of Rock Hill; two brothers, Clinton Eury of Rock Hill and Odell Eury of Belmont, N.C.; his sister, Beatrice Fisher of Belmont, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Verlyne H. Henson, 1826 Allison Circle, Rock Hill.

Connie Hinson
LANCASTER - Ms. Connie Hodge Hinson, 59, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Belair United Methodist Church, with Pastor Steve McCormick officiating.
A native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., Ms. Hinson was a daughter of the late C. B. Hinson and Wilma Biggers Hinson. She was the widow of James Hodge Sr. She was a member of Belair United Methodist Church. She served two years in the Air Force and later attended Queens College in Charlotte. She worked for Radio Shack, where she was an auditor in Charlotte. She was a member of Leroy Springs Recreation Complex.
Surviving are her daughter, Andrea Sturdevant of Fort Mill; her brother, Robert Hinson of Mooresville, N.C.; and two sisters, Deloris Rushing of Locust, N.C., and Ruby Dillard of Gastonia, N.C.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

Clayton Holliman
RICH CREEK, Va. - Mr. Clayton Franklin Holliman, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home chapel in Peterstown, W.Va., with the Rev. Bobby Holliman officiating. Burial will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek.
A native of Draper, N.C., Mr. Holliman was a son of the late Joe E. Holliman and Lillie Landreth Holliman. He was a retired carpenter and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church in Rock Hill. He was a member of the VFW in Lancaster.
Surviving are nine sons, Franklin B. Holliman and Carlos E. Holliman, both of Rock Hill, John R. Holliman of Charleston, Jesse W. Holliman of Rich Creek, Paul R. Holliman of Richburg, and Duane L. Dawley, Alan M. Dawley, David Dawley and Fred D. Dawley, all of Lancaster; his brother, Bobby L. Holliman of Eden, N.C; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Alonzo Robinson Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Alonzo Robinson Jr. of 546 Washington Court died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Lesslie, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating and the Revs. Ronnie Baxter, Thomas Barber, George McCoy and Lavenia Pride assisting. Burial will be at Mount Hebron Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Robinson was a son of the late Alonzo Robinson Sr. and Julia M. Robinson. He was a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church. He was a member of the Mount Hebron Brotherhood and was a member of the men's choir and musical choir No. 1. He was a member of the Washington Street Neighborhood Club. He attended public schools of York County. He worked at First Union.
Surviving are three sons, Marvin Robinson and John Robinson, both of Rock Hill and Darryl Robinson of Fort Mill; three daughters, Shelia McMoore, Jacqulyn Gore and Cassandra Adams, all of Rock Hill; two brothers, John Edward Robinson of Charlotte and Charles Z. Robinson of Rock Hill; three sisters, Mary Lee Moore of Baltimore, Lizzie Beano of Hempstead, N.Y., and Ruby Thurmond of Rock Hill; 24 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at 2211 Lookout Point.
The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Mary Stradford
CHESTER - Mrs. Mary Dixon Stradford, 94, of 105 White Oak St. died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Chester County Nursing Center.
The funeral will be noon Saturday at Black Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Wilson officiating and the Rev. Oliver Royal and Evangelist Christine J. Blake assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Stradford was a daughter of the late Jim Dixon and Lizzie Shannon Dixon McAililey. She was the widow of Eddie Stradford Sr. She was a member of Black Rock Baptist Church, where she was a member of the hymn choir, was a member of A.P.& B Society No. 19, and was the mother of the church in 1988. She attended the public schools of Chester County.
Surviving are two daughters, Larphene S. Robinson and Rosie S. Jackson, both of Chester; 36 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

JACKSON, N.J. - Mrs. Dolores Ann Havens VanNote, 61, of 380 Clear Stream Road died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The service will be private.
A native of Long Branch, N.J., Mrs. VanNote was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward Havens and Mary Elizabeth Lane Havens.
Surviving are her husband, Walter E. VanNote of Jackson, N.J.; her son, William Howell of California; two brothers, Eddie Havens of Texas and Alfie Havens of Neptune, N.J.; her sister, Diane VanNote of Jackson, N.J.; and one granddaughter.

Nellie Ayers
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nellie Joe Hargett Ayers, 61, of 325 Yesebehena Circle died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Ministries, with the Revs. Gary Adkins and Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will be at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Ayers was a daughter of the late David M. Hargett and Rose Mae Walker Hargett. She helped pastor churches in York, Chester, Pelzer, Dacusville and Belton for 35 years.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Claude "J.C." Ayers; two daughters, Debra Gray of Hiram, Ohio, and Sandra Mundy of Gray Court; her brother, David Hargett of Chester; one sister, Rebecca Nalley of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and her great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, and at other times at home.
