Lorene Mashburn
FRANKLIN, N.C. - Mrs. Lorene Crisp Mashburn, 72, of Walnut Creek Road died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Macon Funeral Home, with the Revs. Carson Gibson and Edwin Crisp officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Macon County, N.C., Mrs. Mashburn was a daughter of the late George Gregory and Stella Woods Gregory. She was the widow of C.J. Crisp.
Surviving are her husband, Emory Mashburn, five daughters, Mary Sue Williams of Plano, Texas, and Wilma Mae Crisp, Wanda K. Jones, Nina Martin and Betty Jean "Jodie" Raby, all of Franklin; three brothers, Hayes Gregory of Kentucky, Lona Gregory of Tennessee and Ronald Gregory of South Carolina; three sisters, Gertrude Bagwell of South Carolina and Christine Snipes and Evelyn Bryant, both of Waynesville, N.C.; two stepsons, Bill Mashburn of Raleigh, N.C., and Charles Mashburn of New Mexico; her stepdaughter, Jenella Hackett of Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Angel Home Health and Hospice, 170 Church St., Franklin, NC 28734.

David McCarty
CHESTER - Mr. David Carol McCarty, 40, of 107 Berry St. died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Orrs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating.
A native of Chester, Mr. McCarty was a son of David Leroy McCarty and Carolyn J. Price Austin, both of Chester. He worked in the construction business.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Sylvia M. McCarty; his son, David A McCarty of Chester; two brothers, Shane McCarty and Kenneth Robertson, both of Chester; and two sisters, Belinda Greene of Chester and Lynne Levillie of Charlotte.
Wright's Home for Funerals is in charge.

Virginia Sloan
FORT LAWN - Mrs. Virginia R. Sloan, 60, of 442 Brookhill Road died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Surviving are her son, Elgin Howze of Charlotte; and two daughters, Brenda Davis and Sophia Webster, both of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Grier Funeral Service in Charlotte and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Dorothy Parrish
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Lawings Parrish, 77, of 261 S. Herlong Ave. died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating and Mike Dunlap assisting. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Parrish was a daughter of the late Hoyt Otto Brazzell and Eula Alderman Brazzell. She retired from Everlock Inc. in Pineville, N.C. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are her son, Ted Eugene Lawings of Massanutten, Va.; two sisters, Mary Miner of Rock Hill and Patricia Funderburk Fowler of Charlotte; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

Murray Pegram
CLOVER - Mr. Murray Pegram, 42, of 1196 Tom Joye Road died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Clover Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Amari Hooker officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. Earl Metzler. Burial will be in Uniondale Cemetery in York.
A native of York, Mr. Pegram was a son of Elizabeth Cobb Pegram of Clover and the late John Marshall Pegram. He attended Zoe Life Church in Clover.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Jo'Von Mackins of Clover; four brothers, William Pegram and Glenn Pegram, both of Clover, and Mark Pegram and Michael Pegram, both of Gastonia, N.C.; five sisters, Dorothy Pegram, Doris Pegram and Michelle Wooton, all of Gastonia, Katrina Stroud of Charlotte and Barbara Pegram of Clover.

Isaac Strong
RIDGEWAY - Mr. Isaac Strong, 82, of Tanglewood Healthcare Nursing Home died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at home.
Arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Osborne
SHARON - Mrs. Elizabeth Hames Osborne, 99, of 1880 Thompson Quarter Road died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Davis officiating and the Revs. A. A. Bankhead and George Lowery assisting. The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. J. E. Darby. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Union County, Mrs. Osborne was a daughter of the late Charlie Hames and Viola Eunice Woodard Hames. She was the widow of Arthur Noon Osborne. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She was a member of the hymn choir, missionary and the AP&B Society and was the Mother of Church, the oldest member. She also attended Mount Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a retired domestic worker.
Surviving are her daughter, Eloise Rawlinson of York; her sister, Viola Hames of Union; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a niece whom she raised, Maggie Ruth Burris of Sharon.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Quay Blackmon
LANCASTER - Mr. Meredith Quay Blackmon, 70, of 4567 Flat Creek Road died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Fork Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Benjy Simmons and James F. Adams officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Blackmon was a son of the late Ira Marion Blackmon and Zelma Baker Blackmon.
He was owner and operator of Carolina Auto Sales. He was a Mason with Fork Hill Masonic Lodge No. 316.
He was a member of the Lancaster Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 291.
He was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church and was a Korean War Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Lorene Adams Blackmon; his son, Myron Dean Blackmon of Heath Springs; his daughter, Krista Adams of Lan-caster; three brothers, Parine Blackmon and Ladson Blackmon, both of Heath Springs, and Grady Blackmon of Lancaster; his sister, Lilly Thurston of Asheboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Weldon Burris
GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Weldon Alexander Burris, 85, of Gaston Place, formerly of 1155 Eden Terrace in Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at West End Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Burris was a son of the late Franklin Filmore Burris and Mary Hagens Burris. He was the widower of Elizabeth "Lib" Burris. He was a superintendent for Independent Life Insurance Co. and served as a bailiff at the York County Courthouse. He served in World War II in the Army Company-I 18th infantry 30th Division in Europe and Iceland. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, former Sunday school teacher and member of the VFW.
Surviving are two daughters, Selena "Peaches" Black of Gastonia, N.C. and Martha Oxley of Easley; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Bass Funeral Home and other times at home.

Jean Caldwell
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Jean Caldwell, 78, of 805 S. Herlong Ave. died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Charles Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Mem-orial Park.
A native of Oconee, Mrs. Caldwell was a daughter of the late Mose Brown and Nancy Brown. She was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She was a member of Lodge Beauty Temple No. 709 IBPOE of W.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Edward Brown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Clifford Sr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Allen "Bob" Clifford Sr., 57, of 845 Pine Grove Court died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 7:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla.
A native of Pensacola, Mr. Clifford was a son of William David Clifford and Norma Evelyn Miller Clifford. He was a former sales manager at Burns Chevrolet and Burns Nissan in Rock Hill, City Chevrolet in Charlotte and Kirby Chevrolet in Chester. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Virginia Biller "Ginny" Clifford; three sons, Tim and John, both of Charlotte and Robert Allen Jr. of Pensacola; his daughter, Vicki of Miami; his brother, Billy Clifford Jr. of Jay Fla.; and two sisters, Judy McCormick of River Falls, Wis., and Linda Clifford of Dallas.
The family will receive friends after the service tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel and after the graveside service in Pensacola.

Frances Page
CHESTER - Mrs. Frances Taylor Page, 88, of Chester County Nursing Center died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Page was a daughter of the late William K. Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Dye Taylor. She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of First Baptist Church. She attended schools in Chester County.
Surviving is her stepdaughter, Jane Page of Columbia.

Hattie Craine
GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Hattie M. Craine died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Craine was a daughter of the late Will Crawford and Roxanna Williams Crawford. She was the widow of Simon P. Craine Sr. She attended the public schools of York County. She attained high honors while attending Friendship Junior College.
Surviving are her stepson, Dupree Craine of Newport News, Va.; her stepdaughter, Maude Craine of Gastonia, N.C.; her sister, Willie Marion Douglas of Rock Hill; and three stepgrandchildren.

David Gardner
CASSATT - Mr. David Junior Gardner, 57, of 1921 Cassatt Road died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cassatt Baptist Church, with the Revs. Robert Brown and Donald F. Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Cassatt Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Gardner was a son of the late Waynemond Gardner and Almetta Ellis. He worked at Springs Industries.
Surviving are his son, David Dewayne Gardner of Cassatt; his daughter, Tina Truesdale of Kershaw; two brothers, J.B. Gardner of Rock Hill and Jimmy Gardner of York; his sister, Fannie Mae Sexton of Richburg; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Nelson and Tina Truesdale, 1921 Cassatt Road, Cassatt.

Gettys Stevenson
ROCK HILL - Mr. Gettys Stevenson of 324 Baker St. died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Ralph V. Washington officiating. Burial will be at Rock Grove AME Zion Church cemtery.
A native of York County, Mr. Stevenson was a son of the late Sampson Stevenson and Bessie Brown Stevenson. He was a member of Rock Grove AME Zion Church and had attended Emmett Scott High School.
Surviving is his brother, Sammie Gettys of Rock Hill.
The body may be viewed from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
