Marie Moore
CHESTER - Mrs. Marie Wood Moore, 97, formerly of Chester, of Presbyterian Home in Clinton died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at home.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Revs. Chip Sneed, Robert Hare and Keith Grogg officiating.
A native of Union County, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Frank Benjamin Wood and Elizabeth Carter Wood. She was the widow of Lloyd G. Moore Sr. She was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Chester.
Surviving are four sons, Wallace R. "Mike" Moore of Chester, Lloyd G. Moore Jr. of Lancaster, Martin Moore of Fort Worth, Texas, and Glenn E. Moore of Shelby, N.C.; her daughter, Clara Hare of Mint Hill, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service at Trinity Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Great Falls, Hwy., Chester, SC 29706 or the Presbyterian Home, 801 Musgrove St., Clinton, SC 29325.

Elizabeth Osborne
SHARON - Mrs. Elizabeth Hames Osborne, 99, of 1880 Thompson Quarter Road died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Davis officiating and the Revs. A.A. Bankhead and George Lowery assisting. The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. J.E. Darby. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Union County, Mrs. Osborne was a daughter of the late Charlie Hames and Viola Eunice Woodard Hames. She was the widow of Arthur Noon Osborne. She was the oldest member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She was a member of the hymn choir, missionary and the AP&B Society. She also attended Mount Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a retired domestic worker.
Surviving are her daughter, Eloise Rawlinson of York; her sister, Viola Hames of Union; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren;
17 great-great-grandchildren; and a niece whom she raised, Maggie Ruth Burris of Sharon.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from
9 a.m. to noon today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.

Joseph Williams
GREAT FALLS - Mr. Joseph Thomas "Bootsie" Williams, 73, of 65 Poplar St. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, with the Rev. Mike Sollars officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Williams was a son of the late George C. Williams and Lois Rollins Williams. He retired from J.P. Stevens. He attended schools in Great Falls. He attended Evangel Temple Assembly of God and was a U.S. World War II Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Beckham Williams; two sons, Joseph Martin "Joey" Williams of Great Falls and T. Randy Williams of Atlanta; two daughters, Diane Porter and Linda Trent, both of Great Falls; his brother, George C. Williams of Great Falls; two sisters, Lucille Baker and Margie Blackmon, both of Great Falls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Charles Medlin
HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Charles W. Medlin of 1942 Beach Lane died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
Arrangements will be announced by Hartley Funeral Home.

Paul S. McChesney Jr.
SPARTANBURG - Paul S. McChesney Jr., one of the first Family Court judges in South Carolina, has died after a long illness. He was 81.
McChesney was the first judge at the Family Court in Spartanburg County established in May 1968. He remained the only one in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties until two others were added in 1977.
McChesney joined the judiciary in 1963 as a magistrate after serving five terms in the state House of Representatives. He was still a student at the University of South Carolina School of Law during his first terms in the House.

Stan Margulies
LOS ANGELES - Stan Margulies, who produced two of the most watched miniseries in television history, "Roots" and "The Thorn Birds," died Tuesday of cancer. He was 80.
The producer earned three Emmy awards during his career. The first was in 1977 for "Roots," and the second for "Roots: The Next Generations" in 1979. The series chronicled the family of the late author Alex B. Haley from slavery to present times.

Josephine Parker
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Josephine C. Parker, 112, of 941 Ogden Road died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Charles Montgomery officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of the late John Castle and Fannie B. Young Castle. She was a widow of the Rev. B. M. Parker Sr. She was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church and was a retired educator of York County public schools. She was a faithful church and community worker.
Surviving are three sons, Spergeon Parker of New Bedford, Mass., Bernard Parker of Charlotte and Isaac R. Parker of the home; and two daughters, Amanda Castle of Rock Hill and Wilma Green of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Mount Prospect Baptist Church.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Johnnie Gilfillan Sr.
SHARON- Mr. Johnnie B. Gilfillan Sr. , 71, of 490 Hwy. 97 died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Chester.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bratton Funeral Home.

Susan Parker
CHESTER - Mrs. Susan "Susie" McCarley Parker, 88, of 1257 Firetower Road died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Chester County Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of Henry Mitchell McCarley and Ida Black McCarley. She was a widow of Thomas Glenn Parker. She retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and attended Chester County schools.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Parker of Chester and Glenn Parker Jr. of Lincolnton, N.C.; two daughters, Barbara Young and Carolyn McDowell, both of Chester; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Mary Sharp
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Small Sharp, 96, of 706 Barr St. died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Ebenezer Senior Service and Rehabilitation in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Needham Williamson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Spencer, N.C., Mrs. Sharp was a daughter of the late James Marvin Small and Lelia Jones Small. She was a widow of James Marshall "Jim" Sharp. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Methodist Church. She was a 1926 graduate of Womens College in Greensboro, N.C., with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She was a former member of the Lancaster Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ballard Gibson and Sally Sharp, both of Lancaster; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Tashawn Kennedy
ROCK HILL - Tashawn Kennedy, 7 weeks old, of 1233 Russell St. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

John Hurst
LANCASTER - Mr. John Wayne Hurst, 31, of 2207 Powell Lane died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Trident Regional Medical Center in Charleston.
The funeral will be private.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Hurst was a son of Kenneth Rivers and Sharon Rivers, both of Lancaster.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Pamela Wilson; four sons, John Hurst Jr., Christopher Lee and Dustin Lee, all of Kershaw and Jonathan Bradley of Camden; two daughters, Allisa Renee Ingram of Lancaster and Kelly Wilson of Kershaw; three brothers, Coleman W. "Andy" Hurst of Lancaster, Shannon A. Rivers of Charleston and Kenneth A. Rivers Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; his sister, Carrie Rivers Hurst of Lancaster; his grandmother, Annie S. Rivers of Lancaster; and his grandchild.
Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles Medlin
HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Charles William Medlin, 69, of 1942 Beach Lane died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Medlin was a son of the late Barney Webster Medlin and Dessie Bell Baker Medlin. He was the widower of Brindell Cauthen Medlin. He retired from Springs Industries and was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are his wife, Brindell Cauthen Medlin; four sons, James Dale Medlin, Donald Medlin and Larry Medlin, all of Lancaster, and Gary Medlin of Savannah, Ga.; his brother, Ernest Roy Medlin of Orangeburg; two sisters, Betty Jean Pressley and Shirley Ann Gibson, both of Lancaster; his stepson, James Moak of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Joseph Cauthen Sr., 1991 Beach Lane, Heath Springs.

Isaac Strong
ROCK HILL - Mr. Isaac "Ike" Strong, 82, of 359 Orr Drive died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Tanglewood Nursing Home in Ridgeway.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Hattie Foster officiating and the Revs. Charlie Young and Willie Page and Charles Crockett assisting. Eulogy will be conducted by the Rev. Archie Stover.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Strong was a son of the late Litton Strong and Amanda Brice-Strong. He was the widower of Pauline Jackson-Strong. He attended public schools in Chester County. He served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He joined Weeping Mary Baptist Church at an early age, where he later became a trustee.
Surviving are his son, Albert Strong-Carter of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his daughter, Wilma Nett Spratt of Rock Hill; his caretaker, Vergie J. Roseboro of Rock Hill; his granddaughter; and his great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Parker Funeral Home.

Michael Fedele Sr.
GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Michael A. Fedele Sr., 84, of White Lane died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at home.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Rev. Jody Seymour officiating.
A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Fedele was a son of the late Nicolo A. Fedele and Pasquilina Fedele. He was the widower of Mary Buchanan Fedele. He was a retired truck driver at Schmidt's Brewery. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Pearl Harbor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Michael A. Fedele of Rock Hill and William J. Fedele of Bedford, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Salvation Army, 107 South Broad St., Gastonia 28054.

Donnie Edwards
ROCK HILL - Mr. Donnie L. Edwards, 46, of 979 Rivercrest Road died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Foundation AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Leroy McCrea officiating. Eulogy will be conducted by the Rev. Leonard Edwards. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Edwards was a son of Emmett L. Edwards and Annie M. Edwards. He attended the public schools of York County. He was a mechanic at Honda Cars of Rock Hill, with 18 years of service. He was a member of Mount Zion Church but often attended Foundation AME Zion Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his son, Matthew Edwards of Rock Hill; his daughter, Donna Ann Gilmore of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five brothers, Emmett Edwards Jr., Michael Edwards, Bobby Edwards and Leonard Edwards, all of Rock Hill, and Larry Edwards of Aiken; five sisters, Henrietta Crockett, Julia Edwards, Carolyn Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, all of Rock Hill, and Essie Edwards of Bronx, N.Y.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

Emily McDuffie
GREENWOOD - Ms. Emily Christina Calhoun McDuffie, 101, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001.
A graveside service will be noon today at Live Oak Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Neal officiating.
A native of Greenwood, Ms. McDuffie was a daughter of the late Motte McGee Calhoun and Irene McGee Calhoun.
Surviving are her son, Robert E. McDuffie of Rock Hill; two daughters, Mildred M. Lyons of Edisto Beach and Emily M. Ferrara of Daufuskie Island; her sister, Chicora C. Westmoreland of Hendersonville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the College of Charleston Library Fund or a charity of one's choice.

Sherman Mobley

R. Stanley Windham
LANCASTER - Mr. R. Stanley Windham, 59, died Thursday March 1, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Banks Presbyterian Church, 1012 New Town Road in Waxhaw, N.C., with the Rev. Scott Hilburn officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Charlotte, Mr. Wind-ham was a son of the late E.T. Windham Sr. and Lillie Tucker Windham. He worked as a plumber for Union County public schools.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Stafford Windham; three sons, Reid Stanley Windham Jr., Wayne Thomas Windham and Anthony Ray Windham; four brothers, E.T. Windham Jr., Noland Windham, Nathan Windham and Lemont Windham; and three sisters, Ruby Ballard, Goldie Taylor and Tony Owens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville, N.C.
