A.Z. Shillinglaw
BLACKSBURG - Mr. A.Z. Shillinglaw, 85, of 408 Shelby St. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
The funeral was Thursday at Blacksburg ARP Church, with the Rev. David L. Rowe officiating. Entombment was at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
A native of Blacksburg, Mr. Shillinglaw was a son of the late Henry Shillinglaw and Elizabeth Ormand Shillinglaw. He was a member of Blacksburg ARP Church and was a power generator operator.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia Fulton Shillinglaw; two sons, David Shillinglaw of Cary, N.C., and Ron Shillinglaw of Charlotte; two daughters, Gail Shillinglaw Byars and Cindy Shillinglaw Harry, both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Martha S. Ward of Gaffney and Lenora S. McSwain of York; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to Blacksburg ARP Church, 108 South Chester St., Blacksburg, SC 29702 or the charity of one's choice.

Robert Hall
MCCONNELLS - Mr. Robert "Pop" Carlisle Hall, 75, of 501 Chester Hwy. died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at his son's home in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove, with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating and the Rev. Larry Queen assisting.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Hall was a son of the late Herbert Hall and Bessie Brakefield Hall. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a World War II Army veteran and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Hall of Smyrna, Bobby Hall of Lowrys and Timmy Hall of Rock Hill; two daughters, June Hall Armstrong of Seneca and Libby Hall Manley of Carnesville, Ga.; two brothers, William Hall of Sharon and Thomas Hall of Hickory Grove; his sister, Mamie Hall Robinson of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave. Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Willie Johnson
CHARLOTTE-Mr. Willie James Johnson, 55, of Charlotte, formerly of Chester, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Black Rock Baptist Church in Chester, with Rev. James M. Wilson, Sr. officiating and the Rev. Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Johnson was the son of Willie Johnson and Willie Mae Davis Johnson of Chester. He was a member of Black Rock Baptist Church. He was educated in Chester County schools and attended Finley High School. He was employed at Wayne Moving and Storage Co.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Shirley Johnson of Charlotte; three daughters, Cheryl Johnson and Carla Hill both of Charlotte, and Penny Woods of Che-ster; three sons, Eric Purnell, Demetrius Johnson and Scott Davis, all of Charlotte; four sisters, Mable Emerson and Carolyn Cloud both of Chester, and Eloise Ferrell and Louise Johnson, both of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Napoleon Johnson of Charlotte, and Harry Johnson of Ridgeland; and seven grandchildren.
The body may be viewed today from noon to 8 p.m. at King's Funeral Home, 4000 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Patricia Wilson
CHARLOTTE - Ms. Patricia Ann Wilson, 46, of 2200 Shamrock Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in Charlotte.
The family will receive friends at the home of Ruby Chambers, 701 Porter Road, Rock Hill.
Arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

Gaither Bankhead
BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Gaither McDonald Bankhead, 85, of 3758 Mount Gap Road died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hebron Presbyterian Church, with Dr. David Riddle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Bankhead was a daughter of the late Martin Yongue McDonald and Mary Gaither McDonald McDonald. She was the widow of James Marion Bankhead. She was formerly a nurse at Pryor Hospital in Chester and was a homemaker. She was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Great Falls High School.
Surviving are two daughters, Eunice Boone of Beech Island and Patricia Beer of Richburg; two sisters, Betty Moore of Blackstock and Joyce Orban of Euclid, Ohio; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4776 Mount Gap Road, Blackstock, SC 29014.

Frances Brinkley
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances Hines Brinkley, 89, of 613 Briarcliff Road died Friday, March 2, 2001, at home.
Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

Josephine Childers
CLOVER - Ms. Josephine Lindsay Childers, 81, of 401A Willow Oaks Circle died Friday, March 2, 2001, at home.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, N.C., with the Rev. Wayne Spear officiating.
A native of Kings Mountain, Ms. Childers was a daughter of the late Phillip L. Lindsay and Maggie Jackson Lindsay. She retired from Kenda Knit in Clover. She was a member of Clover Wesleyan Church, where she had been active as the choir director and was a Sunday school teacher. She served as a WAC during World War II.
Surviving are three sisters, Eunice Lindsay of Gastonia, N.C., Kathleen Mull of York and Ruth Wallace of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ruth Wallace, 109 Parkview Ave., Clover.

Johnnie Gilfillan Sr.
SHARON - Mr. Johnnie B. Gilfillan, 71, of 490 Highway 97 died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Chester, with the Rev. Jody Foster officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Hickory Grove, Mr. Gilfillan was a son of the late John Gilfillan and Effie Brakefield Gilfillan. He was the widower of Annie Porter Gilfillan. He was a retired packer at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., with 42 years of service. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Johnnie B. Gilfillan Jr. of the home and Jeff Gilfillan of Blacksburg; two daughters, Cathy G. Adams of Rock Hill and Alisa G. Edmunds of Clover; two brothers, Bert Gilfillan of Clover and Calvin Gilfillan of Hickory Grove; five sisters, Ann Batchler and Jean White, both of Blacksburg, Ruth McGill of Smyrna, Annie Mae Martin of Hickory Grove and Martha Hogue of York; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Pauline Montgomery
YORK - Mrs. Pauline Spencer Montgomery, 84, of 907 E. Liberty St. died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bratton Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bratton Funeral Home.
Arrangements will be announced by Bratton Funeral Home.

Tashawn Kennedy
ROCK HILL - Tashawn Na-Damion Kennedy, 7 weeks old, infant son of Letera Davis and Tavion A. Kennedy, of 1233 Russell St. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rehoboth AME Zion Church in Chester, with the Rev. Willie H. Wood officiating and the Rev. Allen Stewart assisting.
Surviving are his brother, Tyquan A. Kennedy of Rock Hill; his paternal grandparents, Sandy Kennedy and Barbara Kennedy, both of Rock Hill; his grandparents, Eddie Stewart, Charlotte Armstrong-Stewart, Mary Stewart and Donnie Stewart, all of Rock Hill; his stepfather, Donnie Stewart of Rock Hill; and his great-grandmother, Willie Mae Cherry of Rock Hill.
Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Viola Lumpkin
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Viola Lumpkin died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Tanglewood Health Care Center in Ridgeway.
Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Jeffrey Luse
ROCK HILL - Mr. Jeffrey Lynn Luse, 37, died Thursday, March 1, 2001.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. T. Mark Verdery officiating.
A native of Bellevue, Wash., Mr. Luse was a son of Elvin Luse and the late Latisha McConville Luse. He was the owner of JLC Concrete Co. and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, LuAnne Hopkins Luse; his son, Dillon McConnell Luse of the home; two daughters, Alexandria Ann Luse and Rebecca Lena Luse, both of the home; three brothers, Thomas Luse of Seattle, Joseph Luse of Galveston, Texas, and Michael Luse of Georgetown, Texas; two sisters, Amy Kincaid of Wylie, Texas, and Sabryna Luse of Dallas; his grandmothers, Doris Luse of Issaquah, Wash., and Helen Kegel of Seattle.
The family will receive friends after the memorial service at First Presbyterian Church.

Frances Brinkley
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances Hines Brinkley, 89, of 613 Briarcliff Road died Friday, March 2, 2001, at home.
The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga., with the Rev. Glenn Martin officiating.
A native of Muscogee County, Ga., Mrs. Brinkley was a daughter of the late Albert M. Hines and Annie Woodcock Hines. She was a widow of Joseph A. Brinkley. She was a homemaker and an Avon representative. Mrs. Brinkley was a former resident of Westminster Towers. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Rock Hill and was a former member of Wynnton United Methodist Church in Columbus.
Surviving are her three daughters, Barbara B. Puckett of Rock Hill, Julia A. Brinkley of Charlotte and Catherine B. Dodson of Fayetteville, N.C.; her sister Marjorie Handcock of Columbus; eight grandchildren, including Elizabeth Medlin, her caregiver; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice or to Aldersgate UMC, 2115 Celanese Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Hiram Davis Sr.
SENECA - H. Ross Davis Sr., 85, of 508 Seneca Drive died Friday, March 2, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster, with the Rev. George B. Shealy and Dr. Charles "D" Dougherty officiating.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Arthur W. Davis and Ellen Brenner Walker Davis. Mr. Davis was the owner of Oconee Salvage Company. He served as a deacon at Seneca Presbyterian Church, where he was the church's chef for 30 years. Mr. Davis was a past president of the Aeronautics Commission of Oconee County and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for more than 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Cagle Davis; two daughters, Shirley Davis Lunsford of Danville, Va., and Rebecca Davis Richardson of Fort Mill; three stepdaughters, Vicky H. Wood and Deborah H. Owens of Westminster and Rhonda S. Hostetler of Seneca; his son, H. Ross Davis Jr. of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.

William Cheshire
CATAWBA - Mr. William Jackson Cheshire, 78, of 298 Rowells Road died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Napier officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Mooresville, N.C., Mr. Cheshire was a son of the late John L. Cheshire and Lizzie Puckett Cheshire. He was a WWII Army veteran and was retired from the textile industry. He as a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Sims Cheshire; three sons, William Cheshire of Bessemer City, N.C., Sherrill Cheshire of Gastonia, N.C., and Gene D. Cheshire of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three daughters, Brenda Lingerfelt of Stanley, N.C., Rosemary Cheshire of Hays, N.C., and Diane Tadlock of Rock Hill; three stepsons, Gary D. Tadlock, Barry D. Tadlock and Bruce "Scott" Tadlock, all of Rock Hill; two stepdaughters, Sarah Barnes of York and Pat Dawkins of Edgemoor; two brothers, Andy Cheshire and Henry Cheshire, both of Waxhaw, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Cheshire and Dorothy Cheshire; 33 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, and other times at the residence of Gary Tadlock Sr., 2721 Greenwood Road, Rock Hill.

CHESTER - Mr. Robert Neely Love, 59, of 2662 Cameron Road died Friday, March 2, 2001, at the Chester County Nursing Center.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Together As One Church, Saluda Street, Chester, with the Rev. Ronnie Greene officiating.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Love was a son of Ivory Clark Love and the late William Haskell Love.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three daughters, Rhonda Johnson and Missy Yarborough, both of Chester, and Robin Love of Burnsville, W.Va.; two brothers, Larry Love and William Love, both of Chester; three sisters, Nancy Taylor, Carol McWaters and Jane White, all of Chester; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of his mother, 2662 Cameron Road, Chester.
