John Pressley Sr.
FOUNTAIN INN - John Edgar Pressley Sr., 74, of Cooper Bridge Road died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church in Greenville followed by a visitation at the church. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
A native of Chester, Mr. Pressley was a son of the late John Edgar Pressley and Evelyn McAliley Pressley. He retired from Exxon Co. He was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Chester High School in 1943 and attended the University of South Carolina. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was president of the Greenville Exxon Annuitant Club.
Surviving are his wife, Marion Shannon Pressley; two sons, John Pressley Jr. of Fountain Inn and Steve Pressley of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two daughters, Shan Pouliot of Fountain Inn and Neva Clark of Columbia; two brothers, Lytle Pressley of Lexington and Ross Pressley of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Barron Funeral Home in Chester.

Charlie Rollings Jr.
JONESVILLE - Mr. Charlie Edward Rollings Jr., 74, of 121 Park Drive, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, N.C.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, with Rev. James Merritt officiating.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Rollings was a son of the late Charlie Edward Rollings Sr. and Lula Belle Wells Rollings Helms. He was of the Nazarene faith.
Surviving is his sister, Beatrice McAteer of Waxhaw, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and following the service.

Sammie Price
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Sammie Price, 63, of 1027 Drummond Ave. died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.
A native of Charlotte, Mr. Price was a retired manager for Bi-Lo.
Surviving are eight sons, Sammie Pittman, Michael Anderson, Neal Price, Tyrone Nesbit, Lucal Nesbit and Larry J. Lawrence of Charlotte, Robert Simpson of Richburg and Jeffery Price of Fort Lawn; five daughters, Willie Ruth Lawrence, Latasha Nesbit, Jeannie Nesbit and Pauline Graves of Charlotte, and Anita Douglas of Fort Lawn; his brother, Robert Price of Charlotte; two sisters, Geneva Price and Rosa Mae Price, both of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; and several great- grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at King's Funeral Home.

James Roberts
BALTIMORE - Mr. James Roberts, 78, of 1102 Druid Hill Ave. died Monday, March 5, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Lockhart, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Lonnie Roberts and Vestula Roberts. He was a self-employed plumber.
Surviving are his wife, Robbie M. Roberts of Philadelphia, Pa.; four daughters, Edisto Roberts of Chester, Mary Wilks of Rock Hill, Tecola Rucker of Chester and Bernice Roberts of Baltimore; two sisters, Sadie Phillips of Glenarden, Md., and Mary Ross of Salisbury, N.C.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of his niece, Diane Roberts, 3811 Roland View Ave. in Baltimore.

Frances Cox
POOLER, Ga. - Mrs. Frances Cox, 61, of Pooler died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Hospice Savannah.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home West Chatham Chapel in Pooler. Burial will be at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery on Wheaton Street.
A native of Chatham County, Ga., Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and was a member of the former Tolliver Baptist Church in Savannah and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Pooler.
Surviving are her son, Joseph Williamson of Savannah; four daughters, Patricia Williamson of Lancaster, Donna Rielli of Fort Mill, Catherine Stephens of Savannah and Debbie Zitzman of Griffin, Ga.; two sisters, Josephine Brannen of Savannah and Betty Hamby of Ellabell, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.

Doris Cumberbath
OSSINING, N.Y.- Mrs. Doris L. Sitgraves Cumberbath, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church at 123rd Street and Lenox Avenue, New York.
Mrs. Cumberbath was retired from the detective division of the New York City Police Department.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Cumberbath of New York; her parents, Thomas D. Sitgraves and Mattie Sitgraves of Rock Hill; two brothers, Laben Sitgraves and Lawrence Sitgraves, both of Rock Hill; and her sister, Jeanette Simpson of Sacramento, Calif.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Amsterdam Memorial Chapel, 147th Street, New York.

John Farr
GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. John "Sam" Luther Farr, 65, of 4020 S. New Hope Road died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lake Wylie, with the Rev. Rick Lindsay officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Plains Baptist Church cemetery in Gastonia, N.C.
A native of Sweetwater, Tenn., Mr. Farr was the son of the late Bill M. Farr and the late Beulah Snyder Farr. He was a veteran of the National Guard and was a truck driver for Akers Motor Lines.
Mr. Farr is survived by his wife, M. Alice Lipscomb Farr; two sons, Joe Farr of Lake Wylie and William Bruce Farr of Belmont, N.C.; three brothers, Frank Farr and James Farr, both of Belmont, and Bob Farr of Gastonia; five sisters, Aileen Nichols and Pat Haney, both of Belmont, and Gene Tanner, Barbara McGinnas and Linda Weaver, all of Gastonia; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Charlie Knight
LANCASTER - Mr. Charlie Knight, 77, of 238 Wylie Park Road died Friday, March 9, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Canaan Free Will Baptist Church, with the Revs. Clayton Cordell and Tim Larrimore officiating. Burial will be at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Knight was a son of the late George Knight and Nancy Pressley Knight. He was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie Lee Dixon Knight; his son, Willard Knight of Lancaster; two daughters, Christine Rollings of Lancaster and Margaret Starnes of Long Beach, N.C.; two sisters, Susie Langley of Pageland and Arrie Hinson of Long Beach, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Willard Knight, 3254 Cimmeron Road, Lancaster.

Grace Kell
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Grace Robinson Kell, 76, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at home.
The funeral was held Saturday at Banks Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, N.C., with the Rev. Scott Hilborn officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
A native of Clover, Mrs. Kell was a daughter of the late William Rufus Robinson and Bessie Currence Robinson. She was the widow of William Delmas Kell. She was a graduate of Carolina Business School. She was a member of Banks Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Providence Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Kell Privette of Fort Mill and Perry Kell Smith of Huntersville, N.C.; two sisters, Lois R. Drennan of Clover and E. Pauline Robinson of York; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Rena and Drew White, 10115 Elmsbrook Lane, Fort Mill.

FORT MILL - Mr. Thomas William Lowder, 61, of 608 Banks St. died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Art Gate-wood officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Lowder was a retired mechanic for Westinghouse and was an honorary member of the American Legion Post No. 43.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marian Costner Lowder; two sons, Mitch Lowder of Camden and Ken Lowder of Fort Mill; his daughter, Lynn L. Tong of Charlotte; two brothers, Joe Lowder of Fort Mill and James Lowder of Neptune Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Myrtle Douglas, Shirley Mason, Mary McClain, Clara Lambert and Judy Moore, all of Fort Mill; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Fort Mill Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mamie Louise Talley Taylor, 88, of 159 Sedgewood Drive died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Ebenezer Senior Services and Rehabilitation Center.

GREAT FALLS - Henry Allen "Dusty" Wilson, of 5 Hall St. died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at his home.

Mary Morris
PINEVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Mary Frances Morris, 58, of Pineville, N.C., died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Independent Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Coley officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville.
A native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., Mrs. Morris was a daughter of the late Ellis Elders Milling and Edna Estelle Milling. She was the widow of Archie P. Morris Sr. She was a homemaker and attended Independent Bible Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Archie P. Morris Sr. of Louisville, Ky., and David Morris of Pineville; her daughter, Michelle Morris Bailes of Fort Mill; two brothers, Tommy Smith of Wesley Chapel, N.C., and Jim Smith of Belmont, N.C.; two sisters, Pat Avery of Gastonia, N.C., and Diane Shoupe of Waxhaw, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Janie Thomas
CHESTER - Mrs. Janie Melton Thomas, 72, of 2106 Pinckney Road died Friday, March 9, 2001, at the Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at the Wilksburg Baptist Church, with the Revs. Elton Hunter, Joey Beasley and Chris Snelgrove officiating. Burial will be in the Armenia United Methodist Church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late John J. Melton and the late Cora Dodds Melton. She was a member of the Wilksburg Baptist Church.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, Alvin Dean Thomas; three sons, Eddie Thomas, Doug Thomas and Shorty Thomas, all of Chester; her daughter, Debra T. Hyatt of Chester; three brothers, Ed Melton and Warren Melton, both of Chester, and Richard Melton of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals in Chester.

LANCASTER - Mrs. Dixie Thompson Robinson, 89, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at the White Oak Manor.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh ARP Church, with the Revs. David Lauten and Wayne Dickson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Waxhaw, N.C., Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of the late Charles Pinkney Thompson and Lillie Ann Simpson Thompson. Mrs. Robinson was a member of Shiloh ARP Church and was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of David P. "Speedy" Robinson.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Greene of Smithfield, Va., and Curtis Greene of Waxhaw, N.C.; her daughter, Linda Deese of Lancaster; her sister, Mary Twitty of Greenville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home Lancaster Chapel and at other times at the home of George and Linda Deese, 1330 W. Shore Drive, Lancaster.

Howard Rodgers
GREENVILLE - Howard Leonard Rodgers, 91, of 107 Howell Circle, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mackey Mortuary, with the Revs. Joel Wright and Wilton Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
Born in Greenville, Mr. Rodgers was the son of the late John Robinson Rodgers and Sunie Green Rodgers. He was the retired owner of Rodgers Sand and Stone and was a member of East North Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Tinkler Rodgers, formerly of Rock Hill; his son, Roland Howard Rodgers of Greenville; two sisters, Alice Maxwell of Mauldin and Edna Garren of Taylors.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today at Mackey Mortuary.
