Selma Owens
JAMAICA, N.Y. - Mrs. Selma Eaves Owens, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001.
The funeral will be Saturday in Jamaica, N.Y.
Mrs. Owens was a daughter of the late Frazier Eaves and Bennie Baccus Eaves. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Owens Pena of Jamaica; her sister, Ruth E. Young of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Beaunetta Glenn
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Beaunetta Brice "Net" Glenn of 219 S. Charlotte Ave. died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Thomas Barber officiating and the Revs. W.B. White, Leroy McCrae, Clyde Raymond, Floretta Watkins and Dr. Cynthia Russell assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of York County, Mrs. Glenn was a daughter of the late Page Brice and Ophelia Massey Brice. She was the widow of David Lee Glenn. She was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Rose of Sharon No. 30 O.E.S. and the Boyd Hill Missionary Society.
Surviving are three brothers, James Brice and Julius H. Brice, both of Washington, D.C., and Robert Lewis Brice of Rock Hill; two sisters, Alberta Brice Page of Rock Hill and Barbara Brice Durham of Washington, D.C.; and her goddaughter, Dorothy Jean Killian of Rock Hill.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 today at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.
The family will receive friends at 451 Castlewood Circle and 3001 Devonshire Drive.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, SC 29650.

Annie Guy
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Lovine Guy, 84, of 1661 Shadyside Lane died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be private.
A native of Columbus, Ga., Mrs. Guy was a daughter of the late Walter McMickle and Myrtle Kilgore. She was the owner of a plumbing wholesale business and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her son, William T. Birchfield of Tega Cay; her brother, Walter McMickle Jr. of Atlanta; her sister, Edna Jacobs of Phoenix City, Ala.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202.
Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

William Smith
ROCK HILL - Mr. William Smith, 59, of 655 Lige St. died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at China Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. B.J. Davis officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Joecephus Smith and Mary Qualls. He was a member of China Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill. He cared for horses at a horse racing track. He attended York County public schools.
Surviving are his wife, Mary P. Smith of Rock Hill; his son, William Smith of Queens, N.Y.; three daughters, Janie Blackmon, Sara Smith and Lois Smith-Stewart, all of Rock Hill; his brother, Elliot Smith of Rock Hill; three sisters, Lucille Young of York, Geola Smith of Rock Hill and Christa Billups of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

Melvin Cunnup
CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Mr. Melvin L. Cunnup, 65, of the 1000 block of Stillmeadow Court died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Chesapeake General Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, with the Rev. Paul J. Eure officiating. Burial will follow at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Cunnup was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, with 20 years of service. He was vice president of States Roofing Corp., serving for 30 years. He was a former member of Azalea Garden Road Church Of God in Norfolk, Va.
Surviving are his wife, A. Maxine Cunnup; three daughters, Anita Miller of Virginia Beach, Va., Katrina Cunnup and Connie Cunnup, both of Chesapeake; five sisters, Martha Farris, Catherine Hunsucker and Mary Wicker, all of Rock Hill; Frances Gardner of Columbia and Barbara Thompson of Charlotte; his brother, Lloyd K. Cunnup of Columbia; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 360 Southport Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.

Carlisle Smith
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mr. Carlisle Smith, formerly of the Baton Rouge Community of Chester County, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Emma McCree, 562 McCree Drive, Lowrys, SC.
Local arrangements will be announced by Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road in Chester.

Claude Bailey
UNION - Mr. Claude Stanley Bailey, 52, of 126 Baileytown Road died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in Wallace Thomson Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Steve Lemons officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with full Masonic Rites.
A native of the Mount Tabor Community of Union County, Mr. Bailey was a son of the late W.D. Bailey and Mary Jenkins Bailey. He was a member of the Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge No. 244 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He graduated from Lockhart High School and Massey Technical College in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a technician with Duke Power.
Surviving are his wife, Rhonda D. Bailey; three sons, Stanley Kevin Bailey of Camp LeJeune, N.C., John Mark Bailey of Union and Will Bailey of Sharon; his daughter, Nikki Valentine of Sharon; two sisters, Brenda Clark of the Mount Tabor Community and Sue Jackson of Union; and his grandson.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.
The family will be at the home.

Virginia Crosby
CHESTER - Mrs. Virginia Bea Young Crosby, 71, of 526 Columbia Road died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating and the Revs. Robert Z. Bailey and Robert Worthy assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Crosby was a daughter of the late Will Coleman and Sallie Young Coleman. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she served as a former usher. She was a former employee of Cyclone Restaurant and Macks Laundry.
Surviving are her brother, A.C. Coleman of Baltimore; and five sisters, Frances Mack, Bobbie Houston, Betty Overbey, Dorothy Boyd and Cathy Camps, all of Chester.
The family will receive friends at the home of Charlie and Cathy C. Camps, 206 Lilly St., Chester.
The body may be viewed from
1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Louise DeCaron
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. - Ms. Louise Lee DeCaron, 86, of 4945 Orange Grove Blvd. died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Chapel in Chester, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
A native of Chester, Ms. DeCaron was a daughter of the late Oscar A. Lee and Mary Sheriff Lee. She retired from the school district of Lee County, Fla. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Fla., where she was a member of the choir. She was a volunteer piano player for area nursing homes. She was a graduate of Chester High School and Winthrop College in Rock Hill. She attended Limestone College in Gaffney.
Surviving are her son, Byron DeCaron of Mooresville, N.C.; three grandsons; and her great-grandson.
The family will receive friends after the burial.

Alice Hickman
ROCK HILL - Ms. Alice Marie Hickman, 86, of 261 S. Herlong Ave. died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Beverly Health Care.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Guilford Memorial Park, 600 Highpoint Road, Greensboro, N.C.
Born in Stoneville, N.C., Ms. Hickman was a daughter of the late Judd and Susan Goins Hickman. She was retired from Guilford Mills in Greensboro, and had worked at Burlington Mills in Burlington, N.C. She was a member of Oakwood Acres Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Jerry L. Walker of Winnsboro; two sisters, Della R. Gilmore of Greensboro and Bessie Mae Dayllrumpe of Charlotte; four grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Carlisle Smith
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mr. Carlisle L. Smith, formerly of Chester, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center in Kentucky.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Kingdom Hall, with Zachary Taylor officiating.
A native of Chester, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Paul Smith and Beluah Smith, Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He attended the public schools of Chester County.
Surviving are seven sons, Carlisle Smith, Arthur Smith, Davis Smith, Benjamin Smith, Robert Smith and Michael Smith, all of Louisville, and Gilbert Worthy of Pennsylvania; his daughter, Armenthia Boyd of Chester; his brother, Billy Smith of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Laura Smith and Mary Gunther, both of Washington, D.C., and Emma McCree of Chester; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from
6 to 9 tonight at G.C. Mortuary, 1935 West Broadway.

William Hare
CHESTER - Mr. William W. Hare, 74, of 166 Saluda St. died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodward Baptist Church, with the Revs. Tommy Roper and Vernon Craig officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester, Mr. Hare was a son of the late Will Hare and Edith McClain Hare. He was a retired pipe and boiler insulator with the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was a member of Woodward Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
A graduate of Oakley Hall School in Chester, Mr. Hare was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He also was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge No. 18, the VFW and the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Crosby Hare; two sons, Larry Hare of Chester and Gene Hare of Lancaster; his daughter, Mary Fowler of Sharon; and five grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
