FORT MILL - Mrs. Bessie Morgan Weaver, 86, of 7901 Henry Harris Road died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Independent Bible Baptist Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Jason Coley and the Rev. Arnold McCarver officiating. Burial will be at Pineville City Cemetery.
A native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., Mrs. Weaver was a daughter of the late James Ernest Morgan and Edna Alexander Morgan. She was a homemaker and was a member of Independent Bible Baptist Church. She was the widow of Willie Weaver.
Surviving are her daughters, Betty Weaver of Campobello and Nancy Weaver Helms of Fort Mill; her son, John Weaver of Fort Mill; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Independent Bible Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Independent Bible Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC 28277.

Mary Taylor
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Kathleen Carter Taylor, 64, of 3821 Camp Creek Road died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Bill Sumner and Wayne Dickson officiating. Burial will be in the New Cut Presbyterian Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Frank Carter and Ella Stevens Carter. She was retired from Springs Industries, was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a member of the Leroy Springs Senior Citizens Club. She was the widow of Carnell "Cob" Taylor.
Surviving are four sons, Larry Taylor, Randy Taylor, Lonnie Taylor and Chester Taylor, all of Lancaster; her brother, Fred Carter of Lancaster; two sisters, Azilee Polston of Kershaw and Annie Mae Sistare of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Wade Presbyterian Church, 1101 Memorial Park Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Boyd Watts
CONWAY - Mr. Boyd Thurman Watts, 81, of 1708 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Conway Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating and the Rev. Marie Knuckles of Conway assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.
A native of Conway, Mr. Watts was a son of the late Smithy Watts and Mattie Watts. He was a retired, self-employed industrial insulator and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Garden Sanctuary, where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was the widower of Edna Allen Watts.
Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Watts; his daughter, Betty W. Ludlam of Rock Hill; his sister, Laura Mills of Albemarle, N.C.; his stepson, Woody Atkison of Charleston; his stepdaughter, Ann Varn of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Betty Ludlam, 165 Willwood Circle.

Martha Bailey
CHESTER - Mrs. Martha Neal Bailey, 86, of 979 Holmes Road died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Oakmont Nursing Center in Union.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in White Oak, with the Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. officiating and the Rev. J.D. McClu-rkin assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Fairfield County, Mrs. Bailey was a daughter of the late John Neal and Plumie Douglas Neal. She was the widow of Richard Bailey. She was a member of Weeping Mary Baptist Church and the AP&B Society. She attended the public schools of Fairfield County and was a former apartment manager in Detroit, Mich.
Surviving is her son, Thomas Neal of Chester.
The family will receive friends at home.
The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Eula Eure
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Eula Lennon Eure, 90, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, N.C. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
A native of Columbus County, N.C., Mrs. Eure was a daughter of the late John Ballard Lennon and Chat Sealy Lennon. She was a school teacher in Robeson and Bladen County, N.C., schools for 41 years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lumberton.
Surviving are four nephews, Jon W. Garvey, E. Kelly Garvey, Jonathan Garvey and Jacob Austin Garvery, all of Rock Hill; and her niece, Jessica Dawn Garvey of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends Wednesday after the service at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, N.C.
Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, Inc. is in charge.

William Gardner Sr.
VERO BEACH, Fla. - Mr. William Richard Gardner Sr., 60, formerly of Rock Hill, of 485 53rd Square died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mike Black officiating.
A native of York, Mr. Gardner was a son of the late William Garvin Gardner and Marie Thompson Gardner Jones. He was self-employed in the citrus business in Ft. Pierce, Fla.
Surviving are his son, Rick Gardner of McConnells; his daughter, Terri Laffoon of Birmingham, Ala.; his brother, Jack Gardner of Savannah, Ga.; two stepsons, Joe Stonecipher and Ty Stonecipher, both of Fort Pierce; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and after the service.

Charles Chappell
COLUMBIA - Mr. Charles Chappell, 76, died Sunday, April 8, 2001.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jimmy Davis officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens with military honors.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Chappell was a son of the late Charles Chappell Sr. and Lena Barrow Chappell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Seabees, 46th Battalion. He worked in the exterminating business, with more than 30 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Iris Ewing Chappell of Columbia; two daughters, Charlene Chappell of Columbia and Christi C. Bradley of Rock Hill; his sister, Virginia Chappell Smith of Raleigh; and two granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel.
The body will be placed at Bayview Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Robert Baker
LANCASTER - Mr. Robert Brooks Baker, 87, of 430 Providence Road died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gilbert Rowell officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Baker was as son of the late George and Ida Blakeney Baker. He was the widower of Jeanette Phillips. He was a retired machinist at Springs Industries and was a member and elder of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was Past Master of Antioch Masonic Lodge No. 399, Past Worthy Patron of Antioch Chapter of Eastern Star No. 291, and Past Master of Fork Hill Masonic Lodge No. 316.
Surviving are two sons, James Brooks Baker of Liberty Hill and Reid Hamilton Baker of Lancaster; his sister, Clara Blackmon of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Reid Baker, 1136 West Manor Drive.

James Craven Sr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. James Russell Craven Sr., 69, of 225 Dotson St. died Sunday, April 1, 2001,at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral was Wednesday at Hamer Creek Baptist Church in Mount Gilead, N.C., with the Rev. Alex Willoughby officiating.
A native of Montgomery County, N.C., Mr. Craven was a son of the late James L. Craven and Bessie Russell Craven. He was a 1950 graduate of Mount Gilead High School. He was a retired supervisor in the Rock Hill sanitation department. He was a former employee of Stovall Wolfe Ford Co. and the city of Albemarle, N.C. He was a member of West Albermarle Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Billie Duncan Craven; three sons, James "Jimmy" R. Craven Jr. of Martinsville, Va., Fred E. Craven of Carlsbad, Calif., and Danny W. Craven of Albemarle; his daughter, Debbie S. Craven of Albemarle; three stepdaughters, Janet L. Vick of Norwood, N.C., Pam L. Crowder of Cheraw and Hope L. Hill of Albemarle; two foster sisters, Margaret Talbert of Salisbury, N.C., and Hilda Talbert of Bennettsville; and six grandchildren.

Clara Summerford
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Clara Sipe Summerford, 79, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Mecklenburg Health Care Center.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be after the visitation, with the Rev. Bob Jack officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mrs. Summerford was a daughter of the late Julius Sipe and Amanda Black Sipe. She was the widow of David Summerford Sr. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her son, David Summerford Jr. of Rock Hill; two sisters, Ruby Dickson of Cherryville, N.C., and Daisy Locke of Charlotte; and her granddaughter.
Wolfe Funeral Home of Fort Mill is in charge.

Elvira Goodine
SENECA - Mrs. Elvira Josephine Mitchell Goodine, 82, of 414 Stribling St., Apt. 231, died April 6, 2001, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Family Life Center, with the Revs. Kilpatrick, Allen, Reaves, Lewis and Evatt officiating. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery in Walhalla.
A native of Tamassee, Mrs. Goodine was a daughter of the late Henry Mitchell and Rose Mae Rice Mitchell. She was the widow of Abraham Goodine. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and was a member of the Richland Woman's Missionary Society and W.M.W.A.
Surviving are six sons, Henry Goodine and Jacob Goodine, both of New Rochelle, N.Y., Perry Goodine and Lawrence Goodine, both of Charlotte, Ernest Goodine of Rock Hill and Randy Goodine of the home; five daughters, Mary Hines of New Rochelle, Sarah Bruce, Eudotsie Hoover and Christine Henderson, all of Seneca, and Annie Blackwell of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jacob Mitchell of the home and Bill Hunter of California; her sister, Anna Hunter of Seneca; her granddaughter whom she reared, Theresa Mayes; 49 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed from 7 to 7:30 tonight at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.

Garlitia Howze
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Garlitia Howze, 57, of 420 Walnut St. died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with Dr. John T. McCoy officiating and the Rev. Will Black assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Howze was a daughter of the late Joe C. Graham and Willie Lowery. She was a widow of Jeff Howze. She attended Emmett Scott School and was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Michael A. Graham and John C. Graham, both of Rock Hill; three daughters, Denise Howze of Plainsfield, N.J., and Cathy Graham and Barbara Arnold, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Mary Graham Miller of Rock Hill; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 tonight at Parker Funeral Home.

Bruce Richardson
ROCK HILL - Mr. Bruce Gordon "Bubba" Richardson, 71, of 754 Cambridge Circle died Monday, April 9, 2001, at home.
The family will receive friends at home.
Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Kenneth Tyndall
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Kenneth Dale Tyndall, 35, died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pineville, N.C., Chapel of McEwen Funeral and Cremation Service.
A native of Charlotte, Mr. Tyndall was a son of William Tyndall of York and Wilma Blanton of Pineville, N.C.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Susan Tyndall; two sons, Brandon Hood and Russell Hood, both of Charlotte; his daughter, Jyssica Hood of Charlotte; his brother, Shannon Tyndall of Pineville; and two sisters, Donna Cooper of Myrtle Beach and Scarlett Graff of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Pineville Chapel of McEwen Funeral and Cremation Services.

Dorothy Rauch
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy S. Rauch of 1089 Evergreen Circle died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Eden Gar-dens.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William Pender officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Rauch was a daughter of the late John Benjamin Sealy and Lillian Hanks Sealy. She was a lifelong member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Winthrop College. She served as Campus Christian Life representative at Winthrop College for the Presbyterian Church, Synod of South Carolina, for 10 years. She was director of alumni affairs at Winthrop College until her retirement in 1980. At the time of her retirement, the Winthrop Alumni Association honored her by establishing a scholarship in her name.
Surviving are her brother, John B. Sealy Jr. of Greensboro, N.C.; and two sisters, Jean S. Mitchell and Rebecca S. Barry, both of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends after the service at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home of Jean Mitchell, 724 Charlotte Ave.
