GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Jean Hoffman Corbin, 76, of 1 Bowden St. died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, with Father Edward Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgemoor.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Corbin was a daughter of the late Earl Dewey Hoffman and Bernice Cook Hoffman. She was a former secretary to the president of the Bank of Great Falls, which later became First Citizens Bank. She graduated from Edgemoor High School and was a graduate of Winthrop University. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where she was active in the Women Of The Church.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip L. Corbin, and her son, Kenneth Landon Corbin of Columbia.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Harry Curlee Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Harry Belk Curlee Jr., 65, 1572 Crestdale Road died Friday, 27, 2001, at home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. Ray Scott officiating.
A native of Charlotte, Mr. Curlee was a son of the late Harry B. Curlee Sr. and Edith Hoover Curlee. He was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. He was educated in the Charlotte school system and graduated from the University of South Carolina. He was associated with Chadbourn Gotham Inc. in Charlotte for more than 12 years and later with M. Lowenstein Corp. in Rock Hill until his retirement.
The family will receive friends after the service.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is in charge.

Jack Threatt
CHESTER - Mr. Jack Threatt, 68, of 676 Howe Road died Monday, April 30, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Sealy and Chaplain Miriam Mick officiating. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery in Lowrys.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Threatt was a son of the late Julius Thomas Threatt and Leila Hunter Threatt. He retired from Springs Industries and attended Lancaster County schools. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Beam Threatt; his son, Bill Threatt of Chester; three daughters, Bonnie Hood of Fort Mill and Jackie Threatt and Teresa Renee White, both of Chester; two brothers, Paul Threatt of Rock Hill and Julius Threatt of Fort Lawn; his stepson, Roger Beam of Mascoutha, Ill.; his caregiver, Angela Wright of Chester; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

John Feaster
ROCK HILL - Mr. John Feaster, 81, of 343 Friendship Drive died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R. Shuler officiating. Eulogy will be given by the Rev. Billy Wilson, with the Rev. L. W. Edwards assisting.
A native of York County, Mr. Feaster was a son of the late John Feaster Sr. and Nannie Triplett Feaster. He was the widower of Maggie P. Feaster. He was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church, where he was vice president and president of the usher board and was a former treasurer. He attended the public schools of York County. He was a Mason and was a retired labor foreman at McDevitt & Street.
Surviving are his son, Bernard Feaster of Charlotte; four daughters, Susie Feaster Outing, Maggie Feaster Mack, Daisy L. Feaster and Margaret R. Feaster, all of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Joe McCullough
ROCK HILL - Mr. Joe R. McCullough of 732 Finley Road died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roderick Pendleton officiating. The Rev. W. B. White will deliver the eulogy, with Pastor Rodney Adams and the Rev. Dr. J. W. Threatt assisting.
A native of Chester County, Mr. McCullough was a son of Gennet Barber McCullough and the late Peter Allen. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Big Calvary Baptist Church and attended Flint Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the men's choir and was a youth adult leader. He was a scout leader of Troop No. 154. He was vice-president of Central City Optimist Club, Fraternal Order of Police, Palmetto State Law Enforcement Association and the Governor's Juvenile Task Force. He was a board member of the Flint Hill Adult Day Care Center. He attended Chester County public schools. He attended Emmett Scott High School and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He attended York Technical College. He was a lieutenant with the Rock Hill Police Department.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lynn R. McCullough; three sons, Joe Rion McCullough of the home and Masson Davis and T.J. Davis, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Nadia Lynn McCullough of the home; five brothers, John A. McCullough, James P. McCullough and Charles E. McCullough, all of Rock Hill, Eddie L. McCullough of Lancaster and William H. McCullough of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Eunice M. Neely and Mamie Able, both of Rock Hill, and Barbara J. Roberts of Baltimore; and his grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church and from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Margaret Heyman
CHESTER - Mrs. Margaret White Heyman died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Cordell Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at Benson Cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Heyman was a daughter of Lillian S. White of Durham, N.C., and the late Moses A. White. She was the widow of Elmer Heyman Sr. She was a member of Metropolitan AME Zion Church. She graduated from Finley High School and Benedict College. She taught in the Chester County public schools and first grade at York Road Elementary School in Rock Hill. She was a member of the Bathsheba Order of The Eastern Star, Chapter No. 7.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, Elmer "Buddy" Heyman Sr. of Chester; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from the home of Elmer "Buddy" Heyman, 132 Apt. B. Bailey St.
Order of Eastern Star Rites will be conducted by Queen Bathsheba Chapter No. 7, at 7 tonight at the chapel of Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 tonight at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.
The body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.

H. B. Montgomery
ROCK HILL - Mr. H. B. "Sonny" Montgomery, 72, of 407 Guilford Road died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oakland Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Memorial Park in Lancaster.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Montgomery was a son of the late Lee Oates Montgomery and Viola Blackmon Montgomery. He retired as vice president with Reader's Digest. He was a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and was a past member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53 in Lancaster. He was a former member of the Jaycees. He was an Eagle Scout. He served as a scoutmaster with the First Baptist Church Boy Scouts in Lancaster, where he was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Hagins Montgomery; two sons, Michael Lee Montgomery of Lancaster and Mitchell Bennett Montgomery of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Lou Montgomery and Joy Montgomery, both of Lancaster; his sister, Mary Etta Ware of Manor House in Gastonia, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home Rock Hill Chapel and at other times at home.

Ethel Neal
YORK - Mrs. Ethel Taylor Neal, 96, of 103 Norris Ave. died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. James L. Correll officiating.
A native of York County, Mrs. Neal was a daughter of the late Ardie Taylor and Maggie Moore Taylor. She was the widow of Claude R. Neal. She was co-owner of Neal's Grocery and Gas in Rock Hill and later in York. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Claude Taylor and Jack Taylor, both of York; and her sister, Ellie T. McDonald of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Trinity United Methodist Church Parlor.

Ruth Tilley
ANDERSON - Ms. Ruth Tilley, 87, of 1616 Sandy Hollow died Monday, April 30, 2001, at home.
Funeral services will be private.
A native of Pittsburgh, Ms. Tilley was a daughter of the late Charles Werft and Helen Clark Werft Shaffer. She was the widow of Greer H. Tilley. She was a homemaker and was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill.
Surviving are her son, Don Overstreet of Hampton, Ga.; her daughter, Brenda Backhaus of Anderson; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at home.

Vincent Anstey
LANCASTER - Mr. Vincent William Anstey, 89, of 4022 Pageland Highway died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Bolus officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Presbyterian Church cemetery.
A native of Medina, N.Y., Mr. Anstey was a son of the late Thomas Anstey and Katherine Vincent Anstey. He was retired from Chase Bag Co. in Buffalo, N.Y., with 20 years of service. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge in York and was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church. He was the widower of Verna P. Anstey.
Surviving are his son, Vincent Anstey of Rock Hill; his daughter, Deanna Miller of Rhonda, Fla.; three brothers, Roderick Anstey of Venice, Fla., Norman Anstey of Paris, Tenn., and Cedric Anstey of Medina; his sister, Naomi Watts of Medina; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and other times at the home of his son, Vincent Anstey, 3210 Timothy Drive, Rock Hill.

Robert Aughtry
CHESTER - Robert Woods Aughtry, 86, of 112 Hardin St. died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 5 p.m. today at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Whitmire, Mr. Aughtry was a son of the late Zack Aughtry and Mabel Aughtry. He formerly worked for Liberty Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 44 years, where he was trustee and taught the men's Bible class. He was a graduate of Whitmire High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Roseboro Masonic Lodge 195 in Whitmire, where he was a member for more than 50 years.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie W. Aughtry; his daughter, Julie A. Long of Rock Hill; his brother, Jack Aughtry of Whitmire; three sisters, Mabel Dillard and Myra Wilkerson, both of Whitmire, and Louise Aughtry of Clinton; his stepdaughter, Dale Jones of Morganton, N.C.; and two grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Mustard Seed Fund, P.O. Box 751, Chester, SC 29706.

William Black
LANCASTER - Mr. William James Black, 76, of 3574 E. North Corner Road died Monday, April 30, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Hill officiating.
A native of Matthews, N.C., Mr. Black was a son of the late William Mack Black and Jessie Mae Black. He was a member of the Matthews Murkland Presbyterian Church and was retired from General Tire Co.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Walker Black; three sons, William Black Jr. and Gregory Alexander Black, both of Cleveland, and James Edward Black of Lancaster; three daughters, Linda Marie Cunningham of Chester, Gloria Jean Witherspoon of Charlotte and Shirley Hogue of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home.

Mildred Henry
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred Powers Henry, 81, of 701 Sumter St. died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Humphries officiating.
A native of Chester, Mrs. Henry was a daughter of the late Edward Jasper and Barbara Ella Knight Powers. She was retired from Lancaster Bakery and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was the widow of Samuel W. "Wink" Henry.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Plyler, Dorothy Huffstickler and Barbara Dabbs, all of Lancaster; and her grandson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Johnny Howze
CATAWBA - Mr. Johnny E. Howze of 747 Hall Spencer Road died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Shuler officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Howze was a son of Leitha Howze Moffatt and the late Johnny E. Howze Sr. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and attended the public schools of Chester County.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Zachary E. Howze of York; his daughter, Andrena Howze McCullough of Rock Hill; three brothers, Kinard Moffatt of Gardena, Calif., Bernard Moffatt of Rock Hill and Curtis Moffatt of the home; six sisters, Addie Walker of the home, Ruby Howze and Lucille Stevenson, both of Rock Hill, Mary Dunham of Edgemoor, Nancy Glenn and Sara Ingram, both of Catawba; two grandchildren; and his special friend, Dianne Thompson of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.
