Odell Martin
YORK - Mr. Madison Odell Martin, 91, of 931 Turkey Creek Ridge died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Sharon Baptist Church, with Dr. James Mooney and the Rev. James Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Cherokee County, Mr. Martin was a son of the late Ross B. Martin and Susie Alice Moss Martin. He was the widower of Lottie Gunn Martin. He retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. in the Rayon Department, with 31 years of service. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and visited shut-ins.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. "Ed" Martin of Mount Holly, N.C., and M. Calvin Martin of Sharon; three daughters, Roberta M. Howell of York, Frances M. Porcher of Columbia and Lois Louise M. Mathias of Cayce; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at York Funeral Home and other times at the home of Calvin Martin, 3360 Shillinglaw Road in Sharon.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 667, Mauldin, SC 29762.

Joe McCullough
ROCK HILL - Mr. Joe R. McCullough of 732 Finley Road died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roderick Pendleton officiating. The Rev. W.B. White will deliver the eulogy, with Pastor Rodney Adams and the Rev. Dr. J.W. Threatt assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Chester County, Mr. McCullough was a son of Gennet Barber McCullough and the late Peter Allen. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Big Calvary Baptist Church and attended Flint Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the men's choir and was a youth adult leader. He was a Scout leader of Troop 154. He was vice president of Central City Optimist Club, Fraternal Order of Police, Palmetto State Law Enforcement Association and the Governor's Juvenile Task Force. He was a board member of the Flint Hill Adult Day Care Center. He attended Chester County public schools. He attended Emmett Scott High School and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He attended York Technical College. He was a lieutenant with the Rock Hill Police Department.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lynn R. McCullough; three sons, Joe Rion McCullough of the home, and Masson Davis and T.J. Davis, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Nadia Lynn McCullough of the home; five brothers, John A. McCullough, James P. McCullough and Charles E. McCullough, all of Rock Hill, Eddie L. McCullough of Lancaster and William H. McCullough of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Eunice M. Neely and Mamie Able, both of Rock Hill, and Barbara J. Roberts of Baltimore; and his grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Flint Hill Baptist Church and from 1 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church.

H.B. Montgomery
ROCK HILL - Mr. H.B. "Sonny" Montgomery, 72, of 407 Guilford Road died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home chapel, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Lancaster Memorial Park in Lancaster.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Mont-gomery was a son of the late Lee Oates Montgomery and Viola Blackmon Montgomery. He retired as vice president with Reader's Digest. He was a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and was a past master of the Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 53 in Lancaster. He was a former member of the Jaycees. He was an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts and served as a Scoutmaster with the First Baptist Church Boy Scouts in Lancaster, where he was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Hagins Montgomery; two sons, Michael Lee Montgomery of Lancaster and Mitchell Bennett Montgomery of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Lou Montgomery and Joy Montgomery, both of Lancaster; his sister, Mary Etta Ware of Gastonia, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.

Douglas Stacks
LANCASTER - Mr. Douglas David "Bolo" Stacks, 40, of 814 Langley Road died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Rommy Mullis officiating. Burial will be at Union Baptist Church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Stacks was a son of Peggy Langley and the late David Lackie Stacks. He worked for Conbraco Industries in Pageland.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his sister, Audra Stacks Howser of Murrells Inlet; his stepmother, Laura Stacks of Lancaster; two stepbrothers, Tim Stacks and Darren Stacks, both of Lancaster; and his stepsister, Kendra Stacks of Lancaster.

Charles Anderson Jr.
NEW YORK - Mr. Charles C. Anderson Jr. died Thursday, April 19, 2001, in New York City.
The funeral was Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at George Weldon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Johnny Caldwell Jr. conducting the eulogy. Burial was at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
Mr. Anderson was a son of Charles Anderson Sr. and the late Martha McCullough. He attended public schools in New York City and worked for New York City Parks Department.
Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Sarah Anderson of New York City; his son, Charles C. Anderson III of New York City; his daughter, Bianca Marie Anderson of New York City; his brother, Christopher McCullough of Charlotte; his sister, Barbara Anderson of Rock Hill; his stepmother, Sandra Thomas Anderson of New York City; and his grandmother, Genette McCullough of Rock Hill.

John Corkill
CHESTER - Mr. John Buchanan Corkill, 86, formerly of 129 York St., died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.
A native of Chester, Mr. Corkill was a son of the late W.A. Corkill and Moultrie Buchanan Corkill. He retired from Peoples Bank and was a graduate of Chester High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was formerly the organist.
Surviving are his caregiver, Linda Mobley of Chester.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Linda Mobley, 561 Simpson Drive, Chester.

Florence Dixon
BALTIMORE - Mrs. Florence Jones Dixon of 46 N. Morley St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, April 27, 2001.
The funeral will be Friday at Village Baptist Church in Baltimore. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Surviving are her sister, Odessa Jones Cosby of Rock Hill, and her brother, the Rev. Obedia Jones of Rock Hill.

Lavinia Grant
CHESTER - Mrs. Lavinia Morgan Grant, 78, of 105 Berry St. died Wednesday, May 2, 2001.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Grant was a daughter of the late Albert Thomas Morgan and Tenie Dickens Morgan. She was retired from Springs Industries and was a graduate of Chester High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class. She was a member of the This & That Club. She participated in the Senior Olympics, where she won the 2000 State Spirit Award.
Surviving are her daughter, Trina Whitesides of Chester; her sister, Linnie Baker of Chester; and three grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

FORT LAWN - Mrs. Viola Gaston Robinson, 86, of 994 Old Nunnery Farm Road died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at home.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mattie Strong of 1121 E. Chapel Road died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at home.
The family will receive friends at home.

Mildred Henry
LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred Powers Henry, 81, of 701 Sumter St. died Monday, April 30, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Humphries officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Henry was a daughter of the late Edward Jasper and Barbara Ella Knight Powers. She was retired from Lancaster Bakery and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was the widow of Samuel W. "Wink" Henry.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Plyler, Dorothy Huffstickler and Barbara Dabbs, all of Lancaster; and her grandson.

Carl Horton Jr.
KERSHAW - Mr. Carl Alex Horton Jr., 59, of 1662 Horton Rollins Road died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Marion County Medical Center in Mullins.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gene Ghent officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.
A native of Kershaw County, Mr. Horton was a son of the late Carl Alexander Horton Sr. and Annie Lou Query Horton. He graduated from Kershaw High School and earned the Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He attended The Citadel and the University of South Carolina. He served in the Army National Guard. He retired in June after 38 years from Georgia Pacific Co., where he was a foreman. He owned and managed Horton Leasing & Rentals on Lake Wateree and was a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir.
Surviving are his wife, Ina Belk Horton; two daughters, Amelia Louann Horton of Columbia and Lisa Horton Bertram of California; two stepsons, Marion A. Sims of Lancaster and J. Wendall Sims of Rock Hill; and his granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Willie McManus
LANCASTER - Mrs. Willie Mae McManus McManus, 76, of 6673 Taxahaw Road died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Taxahaw Baptist Church, with the Revs. Rodney Nicholson and Della Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Taxahaw Baptist Church Massey Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late Aaron McManus and Viola Hinson McManus. She was a homemaker and was a member of Taxahaw Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Hawley McManus; her son, Dr. Donald McManus of Concord, N.C.; four daughters, Matrell Taylor, Margaret Henry, Dorothy Boone and Dianne McManus, all of Lancaster; her brother, George Mason McManus of Florida; two sisters, Virginia Owens of Lancaster and Ann Ivey of Greer; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Dianne McManus, 6829 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster.

Armando Ramirez
TEGA CAY - Mr. Armando Arthur Ramirez, 75, of 2058 Manilla Bay Lane died Tuesday, May 2, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A memorial service will be noon Saturday at Grace Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Art Gatewood officiating. Military honors and a reception will follow the service at the church.
A native of Los Angeles, Mr. Ramirez was a son of the late John Ramirez and Angela Ramirez. He graduated from Polytechnic High School and served in the U.S Navy for 20 years. After he left the service, he attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he assisted in the church's development and was on its first board of elders, serving 3 years. He was involved in volunteer activities including the fire department; the U.S. Power Squadron, for which he was past commander; POA, Fort Mill Band Boosters, for which he was former chairman; the Red Cross; and the Tega Cay Beautification Committee, for which he was former chairman. After retirement, he completed master gardener and ham radio classes. He was a member of the Men's Breakfast Group, the Vintage Club and ROMEO's (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 9138 and the Fleet Reserve Association.
Surviving are his wife, Dean Ramirez of Tega Cay; his daughter, Anne Smyre of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Richard Ramirez of Clarksville, Va., and Arthur Michael Ramirez and Kelly Sherman Ramirez, both of Greenville; his sister, Lolita Araujo of El Salvador; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Ramirez Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 3454, Fort Mill, SC 29708.

Ronnie Roberts Sr.
LANCASTER - Mr. Ronnie "Roundman" Roberts Sr., 46, of 2388 Sims Drive died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Clay Cordell officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Roberts was a son of Vera Lee Boone Roberts of Kershaw and the late James Cletus Roberts. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Joyce Hanna Roberts; three sons, Michael Charles Roberts and Joshua Andrew Roberts, both of the home, and Ronnie Leon Roberts Jr. of Lancaster; his daughter, April Denise Roberts of the home; two brothers, James Otis Roberts and Grady Thomas Roberts, both of Kershaw; two sisters, Susie Mae Gunn of Lancaster and Darlene Holden of Kershaw; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Lonnie Walker
FORT MILL - Mr. Lonnie Odell Walker, 88, of 304 Academy St. died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, at the Fort Mill Church of God, with Pastor David Kemp, the Rev. Mark Leonhardt and Brother S.B. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Walker was a son of the late Lonnie Calvin Walker and Annie Ida Denton Walker. He worked for Springs Industries and was retired from Southern Electric. He owned and operated the Shell station on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. He was a charter member of the Fort Mill Church of God, where he was a musician. Surviving are his wife, Edna Dinkins Walker of Fort Mill; his son, Cleduth Walker of Catawba; two daughters, Phyllis Childers and Linda Hilton, both of Fort Mill; his sister, Mazelle Keatts of Burlington, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Church of God, 221 Academy St.
