James Hall
CHESTER - Mr. James Caldwell Hall, 77, of 1698 Saluda Road died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Westminster Towers Health Care in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Uriel Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. David Stover, Clarence Fouse and Bob Craven officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Hall was a son of the late Neely Ross Hall Sr. and Mamie Weaver Hall. He was the retired owner and operator of Garawco Inc. He was a member of Uriel Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and elder. He attended schools of Chester County and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a member of Associated General Contractors and Mechanical Contractors Association.
Surviving are his wife, Velma H. Hall; his son, Steve R. Hall of Rock Hill; two daughters, Linda Lanier of Concord, N.C., and Marsha McNinch of Chester; four sisters, Harriett Wrenn and Mattie Ernandez, both of Chester, Margaret Morrison of Richburg and Betty Jean Jacobs of Pontiac; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Marvin Reeves
ROCK HILL - Mr. Marvin Windell Reeves, 81, of 1215 India Hook Road died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be
11 a.m. Wednesday at Edgemoor ARP Church Cemetery, with Dr. Robert J. Robinson officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Reeves was a son of the late Erasmus Reeves and Amanda Wright Reeves. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he served in the European Theater of War. He was a retired printer from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing. He was a member of the First ARP Church, where he served as deacon and superintendent of Sunday school.
Surviving are his wife, Myra Walker Reeves; three daughters, Caroline R. Smith and Marty R. Tinkler, both of Rock Hill and Lillian R. Neely of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Peggy Hilton
LANCASTER - Mrs. Peggy Small Hilton, 69, of 1883 Lynwood Drive died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at her daughter's home.
A graveside service will be
2 p.m. today at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dale Roach officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Hilton was a daughter of the late John Walter "Walt" Small and Mamai Sullivan Small. She was a homemaker and provided in-home child care for 15 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and attended Golden Age and Oasis.
Surviving are her son, Tommy Christopher Hilton of Lancaster; three daughters, Kathy Hilton Grier and Robin Hilton Truesdale, both of Lancaster and Angela Dawn Hilton of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Carolyn Shute and Betty Evans, both of Lancaster; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at home.
Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Martha Shillinglaw
ROCK HILL - Miss Martha Elizabeth Shillinglaw, 81,of 1906 Porter Road died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Beverly Health Care.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neely's Creek ARP Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Mickey Boulous and Bill Flemming officiating.
A native of York County, Miss Shillinglaw was a daughter of the late J. Hall Shillinglaw and Mary Craig Shillinglaw. She was a retired accounting clerk at the Kendal Co. She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women of the Church Circle.
Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Roddey and Carrie H. Shillinglaw, both of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at
Bass funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 1571 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or Mount Holly United Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Alonzo White
ROCK HILL - Mr. Alonzo "Sam" White, 75,of 383 Redwood Road died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. John T. McCoy officiating and the Rev. J. H. Bailey assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of York County, Mr. White was a son of the late Charlie White and Rebecca White. He attended the public schools of York County and retired from the city of Charlotte, where he worked with the street department for 29 years. He was on staff at Parker Funeral Home. He was the widower of Rebecca Hinton White. He was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church, where he was a member of the AP&B Society No. 23, hymn choir
No. 1 and the trustee board.
Surviving are four sons, Marion Black of Charlotte, Alonzo White Jr. of Dalton, Ga., and Sammie Lee White and David Lee White, both of Rock Hill; three daughters, Marie W. Dickerson and Fannie W. Mobley, both of Rock Hill, and Patricia Thomas of Hartford, Conn.; four brothers, Bill White and Napoleon Walton, both of Charlotte, Herbert White of Rock Hill and Harold Walton of Bridge Port, Conn.; two sisters, Fannie W. Potts of Fort Mill and Ethel S. Goodwin of Bridge Port; three stepdaughters, Ethel M. Hinton of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Barbara Dolson of New York and Dorothy Weldon of Rock Hill; 37 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Nazareth
Baptist Church. Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Dessie Bradley
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dessie Mae Robinson Bradley, 89, of 3098 Lakeland Drive, formerly of Kershaw, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bill Fleming and Bill Morris officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Bradley was a daughter of the late Will Robinson and Martha Phillips Robinson. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the Kershaw County school district and Palm Beach County school district. She was a member of Neely's Creek ARP Church in Rock Hill and was the widow of Boyd B. Bradley.
Surviving are her son, Jerry Bradley of Kershaw; three daughters, Diane Catoe and Joann Nichols, both of Rock Hill, and Betty Baker of Kershaw; two sisters, Ruby Williams and Neatus Faulkenberry, both of Kershaw; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home.

ROCK HILL - Ms. Delphine L. Crawford of 302 Sidney St. died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Arrangements will be an-nounced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Mana Dunlap
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Mrs. Mana Bradley Dunlap, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Davis Health Care Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, with Dr. J. Lem Stokes and Dr. Tim McClendon officiating.
A native of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Dunlap was a daughter of the late James Berry Bradley and Martha Lewis Bradley. She attended East Carolina University and graduated from Winthrop University. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Rock Hill for 70 years. She was a hospital volunteer for 20 years and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was the widow of Harry Love Dunlap Sr.
Surviving are her son, Harry Dunlap Jr. of Pendleton; her daughter, MaLou Dunlap Stokes of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bass Funeral Home, Rock Hill.

Lucius Davis Sr.
CARLISLE - Mr. Lucius Davis Sr. of 6878 Ashford Ferry Road died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Chester County Nursing Center in Chester.
The family will receive friends at home.
Arrangements will be announced by Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

SHARON - Miss Ellen L. Hood died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Susan Holcombe
GREENVILLE - Mrs. Susan "Laurene" Chastain Holcombe, 79, of 22 Woodbriar Court died Sunday, May 6, 2001.
The funeral was Tuesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery West.
A native of Greenville County, Mrs. Chastain was a daughter of the late James Aler Chastain and Lillie Mae Shirley Chastain. She retired from Southern Weaving, with 30 years of service. She was a member of City View First Baptist Church and was the widow of William T. Holcombe.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn H. Miller of Greenville and Rebecca H. Hatley of Arlington, Texas; three sons, William E. Holcombe of Rock Hill and Johnny W. Holcombe and Leroy W. Holcombe, both of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.

CHESTER - Infant Jeremiah Da'CurtisSuber died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Paul Vick
KERSHAW - Mr. Paul Finley Vick, 90, of 6696 Hwy. 341 died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sand Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner Jr. officiating.
A native of Jefferson, Mr. Vick was a son of the late Duncan Benjamin Vick and Rebecca Louise Johnson Vick. He was the retired owner of Vick Radio & TV Service in Kershaw.
Surviving are his wife, Nell Knight Vick; two daughters, Paula Vick Kirkley of Pageland and Rebecca Vick Smith of Lincoln, Neb.; and six grandsons.
The family will receive friends after the service and at other times at home.
Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, is in charge.

Gertrude Whitesides
GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Gertrude Latham Whitesides, 82, of 104 Hollybrook Drive died Monday, May 7, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Darrell Twitty officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
A native of York County, Mrs. Whitesides was a daughter of the late William Andrew Latham and Sarah McAlily Latham. She retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Sharon High School in York County. She was a widow of John Thomas Whitesides.
Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Brannen of Chapin, and two grandsons.

Freddene Wylie
DETROIT - Mrs. Freddene Massey Wylie, 65, of 4907 Maple Wood died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Providence Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Johnson III officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Wylie was a daughter of Nancy Bell Brown Massey of Catawba and the late Frederick Massey Jr. She was a seamstress at John Johnson Co. in Detroit and was a member of Great New Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry Wylie.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Jackie L. Massey of Hodges and Jerry Wylie of Detroit; three brothers, Joe Massey of Rock Hill and Charlie Massey and Johnny Williams "J.W." Massey, both of Catawba; her sister, Brenda Massey Jones of Catawba; her grandson; and two granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, and other times at the home of Charlie and Mary Massey, 193 Rowells Road, Catawba.

Jack Biggers Sr.
GREENVILLE - Mr. Jack A. Biggers Sr., 67, of 4 Plymouth Ave. died Monday, May 7, 2001.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A native of York, Mr. Biggers was a son of the late Roy and Hazel Biggers. He was a retired state trooper and District 3 retired troopers coordinator. He was DMV manager for the South Carolina Highway Department. An Army veteran, he was a member of Roper Mountain Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday school class.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Whittington Biggers; his son, Jack Biggers Jr. of Lyman; his daughter, Rene Nelson of Charleston; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at home.
