HOPE MILLS, N.C. - Mr. Marion Thomas Quinn, 71, of 2922 Woolard Drive died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at home.
A memorial service will be
2 p.m. Saturday at Reeves Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Sandhills State Veterans cemetery.
Mr. Quinn was a son of Lillie Mae Quinn of Rock Hill. He was a retired staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.
Surviving in addition to his mother are three sons, David Quinn of Hope Mills, Bryan Quinn of Goose Creek and Robert Quinn of Charlotte; his daughter, Donna Quinn of Goldsboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, Hospice Golf Tournament, 235 N. McPherson Church Road, Suit 210, Fayetteville, NC 28303.

Rosa Hill
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Mrs. Rosa Mae Hill, 89, formerly of Rock Hill, of 6535 Chester Ave. died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Taylor Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Dr. William A. Fox Jr. officiating.
A native of Pineville, N.C., Mrs. Hill was a daughter of the late Guy Bradford and Rosa Bailes Bradford. She was a retired grocery clerk with Neely's Store and Glasscock Store. She was the widow of Clyde Wilkes Hill Sr.
Surviving are three sons, Clyde W. Hill Jr. of Ridgeway, Robert H. Hill of Jacksonville and Daniel C. Hill of Hawthorne, Fla; her half brother, Guy Bradford Jr. of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel is in charge.

Bernard McNeal
ROCK HILL - Mr. Bernard "Peanut" McNeal of 430 Williamson St. died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at China Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. B.J. Davis officiating and the Revs. Dr. John T. McCoy and Willie E. Page assisting. The eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. Johnny Worthy.
A native of York County, Mr. McNeal was a son of the late Annie McNeal Gaston. He attended Nazareth Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of York County and was a 1975 graduate of Northwestern High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Gloris Anderson McNeal; his son, Bernard Gabriel McNeal of Rock Hill; his daughter, Karee Ann McNeal of Rock Hill; his brother, William McNeal of Rock Hill; and his stepdaughter, Lorraine Anderson of Rock Hill.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Ella Hemenway
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ella Augusta "Grandma" Sohlick Hemenway, 85, of 2281 Ferncliff Road died Friday, May 11, 2001, at home.
A memorial service will be
6 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Father William Pentis officiating.
A native Montreal, Mrs. Hemenway was a daughter of the late John Sohlick and Rose Pzybyla Sohlick. She was of the Catholic faith and was a retired classification supervisor at the Detroit Free Press. She was the widow of Arba Hemenway.
Surviving are two sons, Thom Hemenway of Battleground, Wash., and Gary Hemenway of Concord, N.C.; her daughter, Candace Costley of Rock Hill; her brother, Art Sohlick of Northfield, Mich.; her granddaughter and caregiver, Holly Baranowski of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Will Daniel Perry Jr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie "Will Daniel" Perry Jr., 99, of 234 Saluda St. died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lillian H. Washington officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Perry was a son of the late John Daniel and Mary Daniel. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of Sterling Lodge No. 344. He was the widower of Willie Mae Anderson Perry.
Surviving are five sons, Willie J. Perry Sr., Phillip D. Perry and Robert E. Perry, all of Rock Hill, John E. Perry of Lancaster and Edward L. Perry of Catawba; five daughters, Betty Peterson of Philadelphia, Hattie Rhodes of Detroit, Nannie Adam and Betty Elliott, both of Rock Hill, and Julia Watkins of the home; 64 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; 98 great-great-grandchildren; 55 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

John Plyler
FORT MILL - Mr. John Harrison Plyler, 56, of 478 Lazywood Lane, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be
11 a.m. Friday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Wilkes and Levi Wilson officiating.
A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Plyler was a son of Brinnie Hammond Plyler Gardner of Lancaster and the late William Robert Plyler. He retired from Monroe Hardware Co. and was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Walters Plyler; two daughters, Leigh Allison Plyler Carter and Jonna Plyler Carter, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Darrell Plyler and Larry Plyler, both of Lancaster; three sisters, Linda P. Lucas, Brenda P. Harmon and Frances Ann P. Montgomery, all of Lancaster; and his stepfather, Ray Gardner of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Ada Russell
PLANT CITY, Fla. - Mrs. Ada Thomasson Russell, 102, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at South Florida Baptist Hospital.
A graveside service will be
4 p.m. today at Mount Holly United Methodist Church cemetery in Rock Hill.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Russell was a daughter of the late Robert F. Thomasson and Mar-garet Ann Phillips Thomasson. She was of the Baptist faith and was the widower of William Kirton Russell Sr.
Surviving are her daughter, Louise R. Roberts of Rock Hill; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bass Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

Mary Privette
ROCK HILL - Ms. Mary A. Privette, 64, of 973 Church Road died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Oakdale Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jerry Devinney, Robert Alford and Rick Sturgis officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Hickory Grove, Ms. Privette was a daughter of the late G.P. Martin and Sally Belle Childers Martin. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was active in WMU and Senior Adult Activities. She retired from Aplix in Charlotte. She formerly worked at Cone Mills in Pineville, N.C., with 1612 years of service.
Surviving are her daughter, Terry L. Brown of Lancaster; two brothers, John B. Martin of Fort Lawn and James C. Martin of Rock Hill; her sister, Thelma E. Craig of Rock Hill; two granddaughters; and her great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and at other times at the home of her daughter, Terry L. Brown, 4588 Bon Rea Drive.

Barbara Watts
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Barbara Sue Jennings Smith Watts, 59, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.T. Barber officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Watts was a daughter of the late John Adam Jennings Sr. and Richelene Sandifer Jennings. She attended the public schools of Rock Hill and Queens College in Charlotte. She worked at the Bethlehem Center in Charlotte. She was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church. She attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Surviving are her son, Brian Keith Smith of Atlanta; two daughters, Kimberly Arvette Smith Longshore of Atlanta and Alesia Nadine "Beb" Smith of Charlotte; four brothers, Glenn P. Jennings, Jackie Earle Jennings and Wayne Ellis Jennings, all of Rock Hill, and George Edward Daniels of Charlotte; four sisters, Mary Ruth Jennings Reaves of Columbia, Gwendolyn Jennings Worley of Concord, N.C., Jodye M. Jennings of Charlotte and Rosalind M. Jennings of Troy, Ala.; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Parker Funeral Home.

Virginia Goines Ferguson
FOLLY BEACH - Virginia Goines Ferguson, the former leader of several statewide organizations, died Wednesday at her home in Folly Beach.
Ferguson, a Rock Hill native, was the past state president of the American Legion Auxiliary and was past president of the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill. She was also recognized locally and statewide for her work with several organizations, including the PTA and the Palmetto Girls State.
Mrs. Ferguson was a daughter of Roy Goines and Alma Starnes Goines. She was a member of James Island Presbyterian Church and was a life member of the PTA.
She was past president of BPOE Does in Rock Hill and was a member of Charleston Drove No. 231 BPO Does.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel in Charleston. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill.
Surviving are her husband, John Lewis Ferguson; her son, John F. Ferguson Jr. of Charleston; two stepgrandsons; and two great-granddaughters;.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel.

Frances Alexander
MAULDIN - Ms. Frances LeAnn Alexander of 330 Miller Road died Wednesday, May 16, 2001.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Gess officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Gaston County, N.C., Ms. Alexander was a daughter of Thomas Lee Alexander and Myra Brandon Alexander. She was a graduate of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother, Shawn B. Alexander of Atlanta, and her sister, Beth Harrell of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

YORK - Mrs. Marjorie Price Barrett, 59, of 565 Windy Hill Road died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bible Covenant Community Church, with the Rev. Jeff O'Rourke officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of Laurel Hill, N.C., Mrs. Barrett was a daughter of Nellie Norton Price of North Canton, Ohio, and the late Edward Price. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bible Covenant Community Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, James Thomas Barrett; four sons, Ricky Christian of Cleveland, Randy Drayer and James Patrick Barrett, both of York, and Jeff Drayer of North Florence, Ohio; her daughter, Lorie Rohrer of York; two sisters, Jean Callahan and Debby Lambright, both of Canton, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

John Mullinax Sr.
CLOVER - Mr. John Mullinax Sr. of 114 Flatrock St. died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, W.Va.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Clover Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Wayne Spear officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
A native of Bessemer City, N.C., Mr. Mullinax was a son of the late John Henry Mullinax and Bessie Alice Brakefield. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II, earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He retired from Springs Industries Springstine Plant in Chester. He was a member of Clover Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his wife, Alba Lee McFalls Mullinax; his son, John W. Mullinax Jr. of Union; his daughter, Mona Windham of Chester; his brother, Leon Mullinax of Chester; his sister, Cora M. Campbell of Chester; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

James Douthitt
DUARTE, Calif. - The Rev. James B. Douthitt, 92, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Buena Vista Manor.
The Rev. Douthitt was a retired Presbyterian minister and served pastorates in Colorado, Nebraska, Arizona and California. From 1945 to 1954, he was pastor-evangelist at Ganado Mission on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. In 1954, he began a new church in Whittier, Calif., which he served for 19 years.
Surviving are his wife, Levia Douthitt; his son, Kenneth Douthitt of Yakima, Wash.; and his daughter, Marilyn Magers of Rock Hill.
Arrangements will be announced by Douglass & Zook Mortuary in Monrovia, Calif.
