Robert Moore
ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert L. Moore of 413 Fewell St. died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel of Remembrance, with the Rev. Jessie Peay officiating and the Revs. Spencer Johnson Jr., Ronal King and Billy Wilson assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Richmond, Va., Mr. Moore was a son of the late John Sylvester Moore and Martha Price Moore. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962. He attended schools in New York City and formerly worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was retired as a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department, with 20 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet S. Moore; his daughter, April Dawn Gilstrap of Rock Hill; his brother, Melvin Moore of Bronx, N.Y.; two sisters, Evelyn Henry of Bronx and Hester Kenner of Carrollton, Va.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel of Remembrance and at other times at the home.

David Shultz
CHESTER - The Rev. Dr. David Shultz, 89, of 648 Ebony Grove Lane died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Arrangements will be announced by Denton Funeral Home.

Flo Quillian
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Flo Quillian of 1920 Ebenezer Road died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Arrangements will be announced by Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel.

Lorretta Riley
CHESTER - Ms. Lorretta Riley, 37, of 301 Center St., Apt. 21, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Willie E. Page officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of New York City, Ms. Riley was a daughter of Gloria Jean Darby and the late Joe Riley. She was a convenience store clerk and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She attended New York City schools and graduated from Chester High School.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter, Ojetta Riley of the home; two brothers, James Lee Darby Jr. and Lonnie Darby, both of Chester; two half brothers; two half sisters; her paternal grandmother, Ester Lee Riley of Bronx, N.Y.; and her fiance, Bobby Boyd of Chester.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 120 Henry Woods Drive.
Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Janie Sprout
CHESTER - Mrs. Janie Mae Johnson Sprout, 65, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Palmetto Village Center.
The funeral willl be 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Brother James Rouse delivering the discourse. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mrs. Sprout was a daughter of the late Henry Johnson and Jessie Aikens Johnson. She was a retired health care provider. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She graduated from Finley High School.
Surviving are five sons, Rueben M. Sprout of Charlotte, Melvin L. Sprout of Spartanburg, James R. Johnson of Chester, Jarod McWhirter of Atlanta and Ernest J. McWhirter of Seattle; his daughter, Elaine S. Davis of Winnsboro; and two sisters, Beatrice Colbert of Chester and Martha Weldon of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends at 614 Ebony Grove Lane and at 104 W. Lacy St.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Minnie Collins
WAYCROSS, Ga. - Miss Minne Evelyn Collins, 67, of 1509 Mary St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at home.
A graveside service will be
10 a.m. Tuesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating.
A native of Florence, Miss Collins was a daughter of the late Barney E. Collins and Rebecca Ann Filyaw Collins. She was a member of Church of God in Waycross.
Surviving are two sisters, Eunice Bryant of Manning and Eleanor Gray of Waycross.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Blanche Cox
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Blanche H. Cox, 88, of 912 Piney Grove Road, formerly of York, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center.
The funeral will be private.
Mrs. Cox was a daughter of the late Hilary Herrin and Lura Herrin. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of John H. Cox.
Surviving are her daughter, Ruth B. White of Rock Hill; three stepsons, Keith Cox of Georgia, Eddie Cox of Florida and Jeff Cox of South Carolina; her brother, Mimz Herrin of Salisbury, N.C.; two sisters, Gladys Mintz of McConnells and Lucille H. Laney of Rock Hill; her grandson; and three stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Pierce Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1386-A Westgate Center Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Ada Culp
LANCASTER - Mrs. Ada Snipes Culp, 93, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh ARP Church, with the Revs. David Lauren and Jerry Helms officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Culp was a daughter of the late David Dock Snipes and Wren McAteer Snipes. She was a member of Shiloh ARP Church, where she was a charter member of the Mollie Draffin Circle. A past president of the Patrick Sabbath School class, she was a member of the Women of Shiloh and the Shiloh Waxhaw Bible Society. Mrs. Culp was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 146, and was a former member of the Lancaster Evening Garden Club. She retired after 45 years at Spring Industries and had worked at Cauthen Flower Shop. She was the widow of Hazel Brown Culp.
Surviving are her daughter, Sarah Frances Culp Slough of Rock Hill; her sister Margaret Snipes Small of Lancaster; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home, 2575 Charlotte Highway.

Christopher Hinson
LANCASTER - Christopher Dean Hinson, 11, of 1313 Cedar Pine Lake Road died Saturday, May 26, 2001, in Kershaw County.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A native of Lancaster County, Christopher was a son of the late Eddie Dean Hinson and Julia Barton Hinson. He was a student at Brooklyn Springs Elementary School and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his sister, Andrea Leigh Rollings of the home; his maternal grandmother, Jean Thompson of the home; four uncles, Greg Barton of the home, Tim Barton of Lancaster, Paul Hinson of Rock Hill and William Hinson of Columbia; and two aunts, Gail Hinson of Lancaster and Tina Black of Indian Land.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Maurine Holloway
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maurine "Beanie" Shaw Holloway, 97, died Saturday, May 26, 2001.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William C. Pender officiating.
A native of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. Holloway was a daughter of the late Robert Newell Shaw and Isabelle Robertson Davidson Shaw. She graduated from Knox College in Galesburg. She was a former feature writer with Better Homes and Gardens and a staff writer in the advertising department at Marshal Fields in Chicago. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann H. Olson of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., and Fran Verdery of Rock Hill; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the home of Dr. T. Mark and Fran Verdery, 1612 Heatherhill Road.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1011, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

David Schultz
CHESTER - The Rev. Dr. David Brown Schultz, 89, of 648 Ebony Grove Lane died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Willie Evans officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Waynesboro, Ga., the Rev. Dr. Schultz was a son of the late Sims Schultz and Amanda Lovett Schultz. He was a retired minister with the AME Zion Church South Carolina Conference and he ministered in York and Chester counties. He attended schools in Waynesboro, Ga..
Surviving are his wife, Beatrize Schultz of the home; two daughters, Roslyn Briscoe of Chester and Davida Schultz of the home; his brother, the Rev. Dr. George W. Schultz of Richmond, Va.; and his granddaughter, Courtney Amanda Briscoe, whom he reared.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the home.

Eva Raymes
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Eva Mae Marlowe Raymes, 81, of 1915 Ebenezer Road, formerly of Oconee Avenue, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Revs. Ken Raymes and Merv Horst officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Horry County, Mrs. Raymes was the daughter of the late Ira E. Marlowe and Suzanna Causey Marlowe. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God and the Order of Eastern Star, Catawba Chapter No. 131. She was the widow of Rufus "Bennett" Raymes.
Surviving are three sons, Clinton "Clint" Raymes and L. D. "Dart" Raymes, both of Rock Hill, and the Rev. Kenneth "Ken" Raymes of Evansville, Ind.; four daughters, Evangeline "Vangie" Boulware of Georgetown, Linda Nelson of Alta Loma, Calif., Delores "Dee" Walker of Rock Hill and Sue Lane of Melbourne, Fla.; her brother, Eddie Marlowe of Hopewell, Va.; her sister, Elma Mills of Hopewell; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and at other times at 1027 Oconee Ave.
Memorials may be made to Faith Assembly of God Building Fund, 2800 Faith Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Annie Jamison
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Annie Bell McClure Dover Jamison, 90, of 3008 Parkway Ave., formerly of York, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dennis Funderburk and the Minister Martha Cherry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of York, Mrs. Jamison was a daughter of the late John and Nancy Hunt McClure. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Usher Board, Kitchen Custodian Committee, Missionary Society and was a Sunday school teacher. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Start and the B&A Society.
Surviving are her son, David Webber Dover of York; three sisters, Beatrice Stewart of York, Ivory White of Greensboro, N.C., and Geneva Herron of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York and other times at the residence in Charlotte and at the home of Isaac N. Wright, Jr., 12 Hunter St. in York.

Harold Davis
ARLINGTON, Va. - Mr. Harold W. Davis, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at a hospice care center in Virginia.
Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Gene Able
GEORGETOWN, SC- Elijah Eugene Able. 60, died Monday at his home in Georgetown after an extended illness.
Able headed The Herald's sports department from 1983 to 1984. He also worked for several other South Carolina newspapers, most recently The Coastal Observer, on Pawleys Island.
Able was an avid outdoorsman. He wrote or co-authored numerous articles and books about the South Carolina outdoors, including "Paddling South Carolina: A Guide to the Palmetto State River Trails," which he wrote with Jack Horan in 1990, and "Exploring South Carolina: Wild and Natural Places." His short story, "Marrying Aunt Sadie," was selected for New Stories From The South, an annual anthology.
After leaving The Herald, he earned his master's degree at Winthrop University and later worked as an instructor at the University of South Carolina at Lancaster.
A native of Ridgeland, he once owned a weekly newspaper in Jasper County. He worked at The State newspaper in Colum-bia for 15 years and was editor of The Independent News, a weekly in Irmo, before joining The Herald.
Able was the first managing editor of The Island Packet, joining the Hilton Head Island newspaper in August 1970 weeks after it was founded.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Able of Barnwell, and three sisters, Priscilla Lyons of Yemassee, Nicholas Withroo of Irmo, and Jackie Able of West Columbia.
Arrangements will be made by Martin Sauls Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
