ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lottie Tallent Benfield, 89, of 433 Willowbrook Ave. died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. W. Timothy McClendon officiating.
A native of York, Mrs. Benfield was the daughter of the late Henry C. Tallent and Elizabeth Hogue Tallent. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, James H. Benfield of Rock Hill; her daughter, Sara Frances Harris of Chickamauga, Ga.; her brother, Max Tallent of York; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

Sadie Cauthen
LANCASTER - Mrs. Sadie Irene Sims Cauthen, 71, of 1213 McIlwain Road died Friday, June 1, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Crestview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Stewart officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Cauthen was a daughter of the late John Furman Sims and Gertrude Blackmon Sims. She was a homemaker and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Tim Cauthen and Paul Cauthen, both of Lancaster; six daughters, Susan Rose of Monroe, N.C., and Pam Sistare, Cathy Mahaffey, Wanda Cauthen, Carol Mullis and Missy Sistar, all of Lancaster; two brothers, Jimmy Darrell Sims of Wilmington, N.C., and Toby Sims of Lancaster; her sister, Peggy Huffman of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Howard Fewell
CLOVER - Mr. Howard Lewis Fewell, 60, of 1395 Tom Joye Road died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Zoah AME Zion Church in Kings Creek, with the Rev. Margaret Powell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Clover, Mr. Fewell was a son of Bernice Rawlinson Fewell of Clover and the late Ellie Fewell. He was an automobile mechanic for Automatic Transmissions in Gastonia, N.C. He was a member of Zoah AME Zion Church, where he was a preacher's steward, and a member of the American Legion Post 198. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Aleene Mackins Fewell; three sons, Howard Demound Fewell, Tony Orlando Fewell and Lee Tyrell Fewell, all of the home; his daughter, Crystal Aleene Fewell of the home; three brothers, Leon Rawlinson of Dallas, N.C., John Clyde Fewell of Clover and Willie Davis of Stamford, Conn.; two sisters, Mary Thelma Fewell of Clover and Veola Garrett of Stamford; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home, York, and at other times at home.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Margaret Bosking
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Margaret Ann Bosking, 89, of 1330 India Hook Road died Friday, June 1, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be private.
A native of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Bosking was a daughter of the late Frank Machal and Anna Voboril Machal.
Surviving are her husband, Herman J. Bosking; her daughter, Linda B. Long of Lake Wylie; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

McNeal Hargett
UNION MILLS, N.C. - Mr. McNeal "Mack" Hargett, 78, of 2905 Camp Creak Road died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Rev. Odell Cogdell officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.
A native of York County, Mr. Hargett was a son of the late W.C. Hargett and Larah Sexton Hargett. He was a member of Fork Creek Baptist Church in Union Mills, where he served as deacon. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a furniture builder.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Louise Sanford Hargett; two daughters, Shirley Whiting of Rock Hill and Mary Ellen Ross of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Bonnie Smith
MYRTLE BEACH - Mrs. Bonnie Berry Smith, 76, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Conway Hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Myrtle Beach, and 11 a.m. Saturday at Ashwood Baptist Church, Ashwood.
A native of Lee County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Daniel Berry and Maggie Berry. She was on the original staff of the Sun News in Myrtle Beach and was head of membership and publications for the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce until her retirement. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her son, Wade Smith of Little River; three sisters, Cartha Hopkins of Bishopville, Wanda Suaso of Rock Hill and Joye Nesbitt of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Ellis Berry of Ashwood and Howell Berry of Little Mountain; and two grandchildren.

Ernest Watts Sr.
WADESBORO, N.C. - Mr. Ernest Lee Watts Sr., 67, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at El Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Wensil officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery.
A native of Lancaster, Mr. Watts was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mamie Leona Watts.
Surviving are his son, Ernest Lee Watts Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Angela W. Flynn of Rock Hill and Dolly Ann Watts of Lancaster; his brother, John Henry Fletcher of Carrollton, Texas; and his sister, Betty Barber of Wadesboro.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home.

Lougene Wells
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lougene Sanders Wells, 61, of 2253 Indian Trail Road died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, with the Bishop Pieter B. Reynders officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Wells was the daughter of the late Willie Sanders and Verdie Harris San-ders. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward.
Surviving are her husband, William Wells; two sons, Jason Harris and Elic W. Vinson, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Dicy Anna Black of Rock Hill; her adopted son, Jerry Keith Black Jr. of Rock Hill; her brother, Keith Sanders of Rock Hill; five sisters, Ruthie Mae Johnson of Winnsboro, Caroleen Sanders of Con-cord, N.C., Darnell Smith of York and Colleen Scott and Pearl Potts, both of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and at other times at home.

Julia Williams
FORT LAWN - Ms. Julia C. "Ren" Williams of 5515 Williams St. died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Union Ezell AME Zion Church, with the Rev. William Long officiating and the Rev. Leroy Ellison assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Ms. Williams was a daughter of the late Javan Williams and Estelle Ingram. She attended Chester County public schools and was retired from Duracell. She was a member of Union Ezell AME Zion Church, where she was a deaconess and was a member of the Missionary Society and the Stewardess Board No. 3. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Gideon Chapter No. 86. She was the widow of William H. Cloud.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty Belton of the home; three brothers, James Williams and Javan Williams, both of Fort Lawn, and Lloyd Williams of Lancaster; his nephew whom he reared, Charles Williams of Bronx, N.Y.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandsons; and her great-great-grandson.
The family will be at the chapel of Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, from 2 to 5 p.m. today. Eastern Star rites will be 7 tonight at Union Ezell AME Zion Church.
The family will receive friends at the church from 7 to 8 tonight and other times at the home. The body will be taken to the chuch at 2 p.m. Monday.

Edna Bolden
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Edna Thompson Bolden, 73, 714 Rocklyn Drive died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Haywood County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Claude Thompson and Jennie Synder Thompson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired cash room supervisor at Target Stores in Charlotte.
Surviving are her husband, Guy E. Bolden; two daughters, Barbara Black of Suwanee, Ga., and Patty Hinson of Alabaster, Ala.; her brother, Howard Thompson of Athens, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel and at other times at home.

Lenson Funderburke
SALISBURY, N.C. - Mr. Lenson Leroy Funderburke, 82, of 314 Flowering Tree Lane in Rockwell, N.C., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating.
A native of Stanly County, N.C., Mr. Funderburke was a son of the late Bennet R. Funderburk and Lillie Baker Funderburk. He was a U.S Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a loom fixer at Arcade Mills in Rock Hill for more than 20 years and was a member of the American Legion. He was the widower of Elizabeth Broughton Funder-burke.
Surviving are his daughter, Joyce F. Furr of the home; his brother, Roy Funderburk of Mountain City, Tenn.; his sister, Azale Stewart of Lancaster; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is in charge.

William Jones
TEGA CAY - Mr. William Marshall Jones, 63, of 16019 Kura Court died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Matt Horne officiating and the Rev. Dan Cole assisting.
A native of Pineville, W.Va., Mr. Jones was a son of Fern Cole Jones of Tega Cay and the late Ivan Jones. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Va., in 1955. He was a salesman for Wheeling Corrugating Co. and Roll Form Products. He was the former owner of Antiques on Main in Fort Mill.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lynne Loomis Jones; his son, William Brian Jones of Monroe, N.C.; his daughter, Carolyn Blythe Jones of Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Etta Robertson
LANCASTER - Mrs. Etta Nelson Robertson, 91, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Camp Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating.
A native of Laurens County, Mrs. Robertson was a daughter of the late Henry Tillman Nelson and Mae Fuller Nelson. She retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church. She was the widow of W.H. Robertson.
Surviving are her daughter, Estelle Cairnes of Lancaster; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the service.

Janie Medlin
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Janie Bass Medlin, 89, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. John Powell officiating.
A native of York, Mrs. Medlin was a daughter of the late Charles W. Robinson and Nannie Barne Robinson. She was a member of West Main Church of the Nazarene and was the widow of M.R. Medlin.
Surviving are her son, Henry Bass Jr.; two daughters, Gladys McAteer of Fort Mill and Sarah "Betsy" Williams of Lowrys; her brother, Walter Robinson Jr. of Kannapolis, N.C.; her sister, Rose Stillwell of Charlotte; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Down-town Chapel.

Edith Norman
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mrs. Edith Cumbo Norman, 79, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Philadelphia Moravian Church, with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will be at the church graveyard.
A native of Leaksville, N.C., Mrs. Norman was a daughter of Harvey Cumbo and Carrie Pickrel Cumbo. She was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. She received her LPN degree from Forsyth Tech. She worked at N.C. Baptist Hospital from 1965 to 1985. She was the widow of Chilton Harvey Norman.
Surviving are her son, Timothy F. Norman of York; her daughter, Rebecca N. Orr of Greenville, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel in Winston-Salem.
