Wilma Gore

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Wilma Lee Brown Gore, 48, of the Century Care Nursing Center, formerly of York, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at home.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Alexander Love Highway, York.

A native of Sharon, Mrs. Gore was a daughter of the late Clem Brown Sr. and Ella Lee Brown Barber. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a 1971 graduate of York Comprehensive High School and worked for the former Cannon Mills of York.

Surviving are her son, Myron C. Brown of York; her daughter, Shamva B. Burris of York; five brothers, Thornia Brown, the Rev. Edward Brown, Larry C. Brown, John W. Brown and Robert McClure, all of Rock Hill; three sisters, the Rev. Blanche L. Jamerson and Leona S. Thompson, both of York, and Ella M. Allison of Gastonia, N.C.; and two grandchildren whom she reared, Ishida A. Burris and Imari Burris, both of York.

Wright Funeral Home, York, is in charge.

Margaret Douglas

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth McWatters Douglas, 83, of 2657 Shannon Road died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Lancaster Convalescent Center in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Catholic Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Forrest Musselman and Joel Rhyner officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Fort Lawn, Mrs. Douglas was a daughter of the late Sylvester Scott McWatters and Betty Kirkpatrick McCarley McWatters. She was a homemaker and was a member of Catholic Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Blackstock High School. She was the widow of Robert William Douglas Sr.

Surviving are her son, Robert W. Douglas Jr. of Blackstock; three daughters, Etta Mae Douglas of West Lancaster and Margaret Douglas Hunter and Grace Douglas Boyd, both of Blackstock; her sister, Jessie McWatters Bagley of Blackstock; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home, Chester.

Jack Kimbrell

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack Hamilton Kimbrell, 77, of 1211 Meadowlakes Road died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Kimbrell was a son of the late Austin E. Kimbrell and Vivian Hamilton Kimbrell. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Elks Club. He was the owner of Stars and Bars Clothing Store and the Disabled American Veterans Club in Rock Hill. He sold insurance for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Rudder Kimbrell; his son, Jack C. Kimbrell of Rock Hill; three daughters, Donna M. Kimbrell, Sandy K. Yarborough and Karyn I. Kimbrell, all of Fort Mill; two sisters, Virginia Kimbrell and Mickey K. Michaels, both of York; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 today at Bass Funeral Home.

William Smith

BLACKSBURG - Mr. William Carl Smith, 72, of 509 Indian Springs Road died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church, with Dr. Marnese Hampton and the Rev. James Price officiating. Burial will be at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

A native of York County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late James Walter Smith and Macey Ramsey Smith. He was a retired textile worker in the paint and dye department. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and was a former deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Campbell Smith; two sons, William L. Smith and David L. Smith, both of Blacksburg; two daughters, Annette S. Hamilton of Charlotte and Sue S. Gregory of York; two brothers, John Smith of Blacks-burg and Charles Wesley Smith of Smyrna; five sisters, Doris Comer and Margie Smarr, both of Hickory Grove, Inez Adair of Rock Hill, Francis Moore of Blacksburg and Mary Ellen Rollins of Gaffney; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Nancy Ratterree

CATAWBA - Mrs. Nancy Giles Ratterree, 73, of 5000 Roddey Road died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Roddey Baptist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Morrow officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Indian Land, Mrs. Ratterree was a daughter of the late Arthur Steven Giles and Isabell Railey Giles. She was retired from Everlock in Pineville, N.C., with 23 years of service. She was a member of Roddey Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, David F. Ratterree Sr.; her son, David F. Ratterree Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Janet R. Hearn of Catawba; her brother, Arthur Ray Giles of Fort Mill; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at home.

Stanley Yongue

CHESTER - Mr. Stanley Wellington Yongue, 82, of 614 Fernwood Drive died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Levister officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Yongue was a son of the late Brooks Neal Yongue and Essie Varnadore Yongue. He was retired from Shugart Manufacturing Co. and graduated from Chester High School. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was the widower of Bessie Peak Yongue.

Surviving are his daughter, Shirley W. Tidwell of Chester; his brother, Jesse Thomas "Tom" Yongue of Chester; his sister, Essie Yarborough of Richburg; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home.

Macie Black
PORT HURON, Mich. - Mrs. Macie Black died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Port Huron.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Port Huron, with the Rev. Alex Crittenden officiating.

Surviving are her son, W.J. Davis of Port Huron; two daughters, Dorothy D. McCullough of Rock Hill and Shelia Ross of Detroit; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Monica McClinton

CHARLOTTE - Miss Monica "Lee" McClinton, 28, of 3201 Nobles Ave. No. 5 died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pineville, N.C., with the Rev. Mack McRay officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Miss McClin-ton was a daughter of Vera Pittman McClinton of Charlotte.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her daughter, Makala Love of Charlotte; her brother, John McClinton Jr. of Fort Mill; two sisters, Denise McClinton Hutchinson and Justine McClinton, both of Charlotte; and her special friend, Stanley "Sam" Love of McConnells.

A.L. Jinwright Funeral Service in Charlotte is in charge.

Mary Barnes

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Lou Turney Barnes, 82, of 2821 Neely Store Road died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. David Inman officiating. Burial will be at Friendship UMC Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Barnes was a daughter of the late A. C. Turney and Alice Garvin Turney. She retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., with 37 years of service. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Luther "Luke" Barnes; and her son, Robert Joseph Barnes of Greensboro, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel and other times at home.

Smiley Anderson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Mrs. Smiley Anderson, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alvin Daniels officiating and the Rev. Percy Carter assisting. Burial will be at Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery in York.

A native of York, Mrs. Anderson was a daughter of the late George Anderson and Isabella McCleave Anderson. She was the widow of the Rev. E. B. Anderson. She was a housewife and a member of the Golden Hill United Methodist Church in Bridgeport under watchcare. She was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Cowpens for more than 40 years.

Surviving are her son, Esau Aldolphus Anderson of Philadelphia; three daughters, Dorothy Anderson of Murray, Utah, Roena Littlejohn of Bridgeport, Conn. and Sylvia Reed of Atlanta; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant View United Methodist Church and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Cynthia Lyles, 124 Loblolly Drive, Spartanburg.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Joseph Wright of 535 Hampton St., formerly of Bronx, N.Y., died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

CHESTER - Mr. Robert Lee Brice, 70, of Chester Heights No. 2 Apt. 146 died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Chester County Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Denton Funeral Home.

James McCullough

EDGEMOOR - Mr. James R. "Jim" McCullough of 3722 Dion Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Red Oak AME Zion Church in Edgemoor, with the Rev. Gary W. Smith officiating and the Rev. Mil-dred Watson as-sisting. Burial will be at Red Oak AME Zion Church Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McCullough was a son of the late John McCullough and Mary E. Lee McCullough. He was a member of Red Oak AME Zion Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct medal. He was a sergeant in the Korean War. He was chairman of the trustee board and chairman of the building committee. He was a member of the Red Oak Ensembles and was a class leader. He was a member of Archive Masonic Lodge No. 149. He was a church caretaker. He attended the public schools of Chester County and attended Friendship College. He was retired from Morrison Textile Machinery in Fort Lawn.

Surviving are his wife, Joceas Welch McCullough; two sons, Dennis McCullough of Edgemoor and Lamar McCullough of Rock Hill; three daughters, Joanne M. Howze, Sharon McKnight and Ashley McCullough, all of Edgemoor; two brothers, Joe L. McCullough of Edgemoor and Clyde McCullough of Rock Hill; three sisters, Clara Gilmore of Rock Hill; Lena Mae Boyd of Buffalo, N.Y., and Alberta McCullough of Edgemoor; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body may be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Millen Murphy

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Millen Anne Mackey Murphy, 59, of 3 Hillcrest Drive died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tony Medlin officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of the late Thomas Rudolph Mackey and Lillian Bell Mackey. She was a retired court reporter. She attended schools in Lancaster County and the University of South Carolina.

Surviving are her husband, retired Federal Judge Robert J. Murphy Jr.; and two brothers, Stover Mackey of Great Falls and Tony Mackey of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends at the home of Stover Mackey, 6427 Richburg Road, immediately following the service.

Ella Berry

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ella Louise Berry of 341 Frank St. died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at White Hill AME Zion Church in York, with the Rev. Dr. W.O. Thompson officiating and Dr. Osbey Roddey, and the Revs. J. C. McGill and C. J. Jenkins assisting. Burial will be at White Hill AME Zion Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Berry was a daughter of the late Cecil Dixon and Mozelle Starnes Dixon. She was a member of White Hill AME Zion Church. She was a member of the Hymn Choir, Deaconess Board, Women's Club and Church Aid Society. She was a member of AP&B Society No. 20. She attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are her husband, Theo Berry; her son, John Berry of Charlotte; three daughters, Dorothy B. Archie and Eleanor Berry, both of Rock Hill, and Mary Berry Brice of the home; three brothers, Charlie Dixon Sr. of Clover, and Cleveland Dixon and Joseph Dixon, both of York; two sisters, Elizabeth D. Garvin and Mary D. Sims, both of York; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
