YORK - Mr. Donald Edward Brown, 68, of 688 Mason Dickson Road died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Robert Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Velt Brown and Jessielee Brackett Brown. He was a retired supervisor for York County Road Maintenance and worked part time for York Convenience Centers. He was a member of Temple Presbyterian Church in America in Clover, where he was an elder and a Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Margie Roberts Brown; his son, Steven Brown of Rock Hill; three daughters, Libby B. Davis and Deb B. Martin, both of York, and Lisa B. Rogers of Clover; his brother, Oren Brown of York; two sisters, Edith Oneida B. Dover of Smyrna and Doris B. Wray of Conway; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Temple Presbyterian Church in America Building Fund, P.O. Box 733, York, SC 29745.

Larry Craig Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Larry Gene Craig Jr., 33, of 1606 Barringer Road died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

Ernest Douglas

EDGEMOOR - Mr. Ernest Douglas, 51, of 3836 Patton Drive died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clyde Raymond officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Douglas was a son of the late Eddie Lewis Douglas and Mable L. Douglas. He attended Chester County and York County public schools and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his wife, Betty P. Douglas; his son, Jamil A. Douglas of Rock Hill; his daughter, Tylisha Crawford of Rock Hill; and three brothers, Willie E. Douglas, MacArthur Douglas and Jack Douglas, all of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

Dorothy Falls

CLOVER - Mrs. Dorothy B. "Cookie" Falls, 51, of 111 Zion Church Road died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at John's Chapel F.B.H. Church, with the Rev. Lawson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Garden in Filbert.

Mrs. Falls was a daughter of Roberta Barnette Burris of York and the late Willie Burris. She was a member of John's Chapel F.B.H. Church in Hickory Grove.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Charles L. Falls; two sons, Brennet Falls of Pineville, N.C,. and Domiano J. Falls of the home; her daughter, Vadia L. Falls of Charleston; four brothers, Robert A. Burris and Walter A. Burris, both of Radcliff, Ky., Tommie L. Burris of York and Phillip Duane White of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Elder Janice Burris and Debra Burris, both of York.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. today at the church.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Generation Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Margaret Griffith

PINEVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Margaret Keel Griffith, 90, formerly of Fort Mill, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the Laurels in the Village at Carolina Place.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Pineville Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Griffin officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m Saturday at Newton Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Ragland, Ky.

A native of McCracken County, Ky., Mrs. Griffith was a daughter of the late Albert Keel and Bessie Scoggin Keel. She was the widow of Aubrey Griffith. She was retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Garden City, Mich. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill.

Surviving are her daughter, Joleta Simpkins of Fort Mill; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, Ky.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Raffield E. "Jack" Holland, 69, of 3356 Goodplace Road died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002.

Kathleen Hughey

SHELBY, N.C. - Mrs. Kathleen Ledbetter Hughey, 72, of 2908 Dravo Road died Monday, Feb., 4, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, with the Revs. Tim Trexler and Broadus Heatherly officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Hughey was a daughter of the late Claude Marion Wray and Barbara Ellen Martin. She was the widow of Sidney Bryan Ledbetter. She was retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center, where she was a nurse. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James Hughey; four sons, Jerry Ledbetter, Clyde Ledbetter, Lee Ledbetter and Bobby Ledbetter, all of Shelby; three brothers, Arnold Wray, Gene Wray and Frank Wray, all of Shelby; two stepdaughters, Judy Porter of Blacksburg and Carolyn Hughey of Chesnee; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two stepgrandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at home.

Willie Irby

LANDO - Mrs. Willie Mae Irby, 95, of 3527 Gaston Farm Road died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Heath Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sam Warwick officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Irby was a daughter of the late William John Parrish and Sarah Frances Elkins Parrish. She was the widow of Clarence F. Irby. She was a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She retired from Manetta Mills, with 50 years of service.

Surviving are two sons, C.F. Irby of Vinton, Va., and Richard Irby of Rock Hill; four daughters, Gertie Wyant of Summerville, Bernice Coggins of Lando, Betty Goodale of Columbia and Rubanell Vinson of Richburg; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Bessie Jones

MATTHEWS, N.C. - Mrs. Bessie I. Jones, formerly of Clover, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Carrington Place Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Clover, with the Rev. David J. Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Clover.

Surviving is her daughter, Mary Ellen Black of Charlotte.

Curtis Simmons Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Curtis Leon Simmons Sr., 79, of 3099 Sims Road died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with the Revs. Ron Fite, Larry Sizemore and Ray Long officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Simmons was a son of the late Andrew Simmons and Lillie Norris Simmons. He was a retired insurance agent with Independent Life Insurance and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 416, Crescent Shrine Club and the American Legion-Frank Roach Post 34. He was a veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Belk Simmons; two sons, Curtis Leon Simmons Jr. and Steven W. Simmons, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sandy Wilson and Gayle Carter, both of Rock Hill; his sister, Ethel Simmons of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park.

A native of Tazewill County, Va., Mr. Stiff was a son of the late Eugene Stiff and Mary Alice Brumley Stiff. He retired from A.K. Steel Co. in Ashland, Ky., and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Greenway Stiff; his son, Russell Edward Stiff Jr. of Blue Ridge, Va.; two daughters, Sharon Guacheta of Roanoke, Va., and Susan Wolford of Russell Springs, Ky; three brothers, Paul F. Whitley of China Grove, N.C., Eugene C. Stiff Jr. of Rock Hill and Earl G. Stiff of Jefferson City, Tenn.; his sister, Mary Frances Tennent of Kannapolis; his stepson, Danny Ray Beam of China Grove; his stepdaughter, Rita Faye Smith of Mooresville, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City, N.C., with the Rev. Dickie Spargo officiating. Burial will be at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Anderson County, Mrs. Boone was a daughter of the late William Augustus "Gus" Fowler and Minnie Ola Tinsley Fowler. She was retired from Hardin Mill. She was the widow of Clark Cornelius Boone.

Surviving are her son, Roy Steele of Gastonia, N.C.; four daughters, Rosa Wyatt of the home, Carolyn Parker and Kristy Whisenant, both of Clover, and Patricia Evon of Sacramento, Calif.; several grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kristy and Max Whisenant, 1251 Burrell Road.

CHESTER - Mr. J.B. Boyd, 66, of 533 Denton St. died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Janet Gardner

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Janet Rabon Gardner, 68, of 1112 Lesslie Trail Drive died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. David Taylor officiating.

A native of Lugoff, Mrs. Gardner was a daughter of the late Ben Tillman Rabon and Maude Hinson Rabon. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are her husband, Gene Gardner Sr.; her son, Gene Gardner Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Karen Gardner Coble of Rock Hill; her brother, Bobby Rabon of Bonneau; her sister, Doris Rabon Purkypile of Eureka, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Karen Coble, 637 Stratford Lane.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, with the Rev. John Bridges officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Gaston County, Mrs. Grindle was a daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Hulda Jane Burgess Reinhardt. She was retired from the Gaston County school system. She was a member of Loray Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday school class and the senior adult choir. She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Woodmen of the World and was a member of Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was the widow of Roscoe E. Grindle.

Surviving are her son, Robert Grindle of Lake Wylie; her daughter, Gail Kenefick of Bath, N.C.; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Carothers Funeral Home.
