WASHINGTON, D.C. — James Johnson Jr., 49, husband of Grace Johnson, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Washington, D.C., General Hospital. He was born June 7, 1950. Services will be announced by Job’s Mortuary Inc. in Sumter, S.C.

ATLANTA, Ga. — Annette “Cookie” McCutcheon, 38, of Atlanta, and formerly of Scranton, S.C., died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after an illness. She was the daughter of Rosa Lee McCutcheon and the late Alford McCutcheon. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Teanie McCutcheon Burgess, 225 S. Ron McNair Blvd., Lake City, S.C. Services will be announced by Green’s Funeral Home in Lake City, S.C.

LEWIS D. BALLARD

SUMMERTON — Lewis Dale Ballard, 64, husband of Patricia Hall Ballard, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Mariner Healthcare of Sumter East. Born Aug. 27, 1935, in Altus, Okla., he was a son of the late Walter and Ida Grider Ballard. Mr. Ballard was a retired captain in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Weatherford University with a bachelor’s degree in education, and a graduate of Troy University in Troy, Ala., with a master’s degree in public administration. He was a Baptist. Survivors besides his wife of Summerton include a brother, Al Ballard of Altus; and a nephew, Britt Ballard of Altus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville. Members of the Military Honor Guard will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home, Goat Island Resort, Summerton. BISHOPVILLE — Lorene Corbett Byrd, widow of Mallie Byrd, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Carolina Pines in Hartsville. Born Jan. 3, 1921, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Spencer and Sarah Bishop Corbett. Mrs. Byrd attended Bishopville schools. She was a member of Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church, where she served as president of the gospel choir, a member of the ushers, missionary society and pastor’s aide. Survivors include four sons, Willie Byrd of Hartsville, Edward Byrd and Cloudy Byrd, all of Bishopville, and Henry Byrd of Newark, N.J.; a sister, Gettie Corbett Davis of Freehold, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Hodge Byrd. A wake service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the chapel of Boatwright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church with the Rev. O.S. Scott officiating, assisted by the Rev. Julia Sanders, the Rev. Rodney James and the Rev. Henry Davis. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery. The funeral procession will leave at 2:30 p.m. from the home, 520 E. First St. The family will receive friends at the home. FLORENCE — John Shaw, 86, husband of Helen Stegall Shaw, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Southland Health Care Center. Born Aug. 28, 1913, in Marion County, he was a son of the late Evander M. and Mary S. Shaw. A graduate of Marion High School, Mr. Shaw retired from Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company and was employed by the security divisions of McLeod Regional Medical Center and Florence General Hospital. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was a member of Ed River’s Sunday School Class, a life member of the Chancel Choir, and served on various committees of the church. He was a Mason in Amity Lodge 340 of Florence. Survivors besides his wife include his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Cindy Shaw of York, David and Audrey Shaw of Sumter, Bobby and LuAnn Shaw of Florence and John Rhett and Robert Shaw of Roanoke, Va.; and his grandchildren, Ashley Shaw of Columbia, Brian Shaw of Charleston, and Matthew, Caroline and Anne-Davis Shaw of Sumter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ebbie Shaw and Leslie Shaw; and two sisters, Eva S. Brown and Aline S. Spivey. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cain-Poston Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Bobby and LuAnn Shaw, 4113 Pelican Lane. Agnes Elizabeth Bochette Simon, 73, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at a local nursing center. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Dexter Boykin and Verley Hancock Boykin. She was first married to the late Blease Bochette, and then to the late Albert Simon. Survivors include a son, Danny Bochette; five daughters, Gloria Brown, Shirley Watson, Judy Scurry, Sylvia Sides and Cathy Baumeister; a brother, Jack Boykin; a sister, Mozelle Barnes; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Boykin. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with Mr. Clinton Goff, Mr. Carl Hamilton and Mr. Eric Hahn officiating. LYNCHBURG — Nathaniel “Nunnie” Burroughs Sr., husband of Clara McKnight Burroughs, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born May 3, 1942, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Franklin D. and Josephine Haynesworth Burroughs. Mr. Burroughs attended Sumter County public schools. He joined Goodwill Presbyterian Church USA of Mayesville. He was employed by Edward Phillips as a farmer and by Hercules Contractors and Engineers of Cayce as a construction worker until his health failed. Survivors besides his wife include five sons, Nathaniel Burroughs Jr. of Lynchburg, Keith, Barney and Clayton Burroughs, all of Timmonsville, and Wayne McKnight of Sardis; a daughter, Brenda Gamble of Manning; a brother, Julius Burroughs of Lynchburg; four sisters, Billie Jean Toney, Shirley Lowery and Marie Toney, all of Lynchburg, and Annie Lee Robinson of Sumter; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martain Burroughs and James Burroughs; and a sister, Earldine Davis. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Goodwill Presbyterian Church USA of Mayesville with the Rev. Richard R. Baxter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. BROOKLYN, N.Y. — William Albert Davis died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at his home. Born in Lee County, S.C., he was a son of the late Nunny Davis and Dessie Mack Davis. Mr. Davis attended Lee County public schools. He was employed by the State Hospital in New York until his retirement. Survivors include a son, Johnny Lee Davis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two brothers, Clifton Davis of San Francisco, Calif., and Tom Davis of New Port Richey, Fla.; two sisters, Inez Barrett of Asheboro, N.C., and Estell Simon of Bishopville, S.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. HAYWARD R. DINSMORE

WILBERFORCE, Ohio — Hayward Robert Dinsmore, 87, husband of Margaret Epps Brown Dinsmore, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1913, in Moulton, Ala., he was a son of the late Travis and Emma Haley Dinsmore. Mr. Dinsmore was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Xenia. He received an undergraduate degree in art from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in art education and a master of arts degree from New York University. In the early 1950s, he was an art instructor at Morris College in Sumter, S.C. He was a professor of art at Central State University and served as chairman of the art department for many years until his retirement in 1978. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army in Italy and North Africa. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity for over 50 years and a member of the Wilberforce Couples Club. Survivors besides his wife of Wilberforce include two sons, Hayward Robert Dinsmore Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Lloyd Creighton Dinsmore of Elk Grove, Calif.; a brother, Charles Dinsmore of Cincinnati, Ohio; and five grandchildren. MANNING — Adell Baker Franklin, 71, widow of Alson Franklin, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 27, 2000, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Born Jan. 22, 1909, in the New Zion community of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Grant Baker Sr. and Alice Lue Burgess Baker. Mrs. Franklin attended Clarendon County public schools. In her youth she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined St. John AME Church, where she served as secretary of the missionary society, president of Stewardess Board No. 1, secretary of the Sunday school and mother of the church. She was a retired employee of T.S. Ragsdale in Lake City. Survivors include three daughters, Gardenia Cain of the home, and Shirley Mack and Myra Lesene, both of Manning; a brother, Hardy T. Baker of Manning; a sister, Josephine Dickey McCray of Manning; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Hennett Franklin; four brothers, Grant Baker, Alfair Baker, Elijah Baker and Deas Baker; and two sisters, Violizette B. Woods and Charioty Baker. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. John AME Church, in the Workman community of Kingstree, with the Rev. B.L. Green, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles Thomas Parks, husband of Dorothy “Dottie” McCaskey Parks, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born April 14, 1927, in Harmony, N.C., he was a son of the late Ray Earl Parks and Minerva Shaw Parks. Mr. Parks was an electrical utility sales representative in North Carolina and South Carolina and was retired from General Electric Supply Company in Columbia. He came to Sumter in 1976 with Sumter Builders Inc. After his retirement, he owned and operated Parks Lawn Service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Citizens on Patrol of the Sumter Police Department, and he was a former member of Sumter Elks Lodge No. 885. Survivors besides his wife of the home include two daughters, Carol Parks Dahms and her husband Dennis E. Dahms of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Ginny Parks Hill and her husband Michael E. Hill of Florence; and two grandchildren, DoriBeth Hill and Ryan Michael Hill, both of Florence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. James C. MANNING — Rosa Lee Smith Johnson Pearson, 92, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton. Born March 4, 1907, in Camden, she was a daughter of the late Henry Smith and Ceila Murray Smith. Mrs. Pearson attended Kershaw County schools. In her adult life she became a member of Mt. Chapel Baptist Church in the Jordan community of Manning, where she served faithfully as a member of the senior choir, missionary society, YMCA and the trustees’ wives auxiliary. She was first married to the late William Johnson, and then to Roosevelt Pearson. Survivors besides her husband of Manning include a daughter, Inez J. Wilson of Manning; a stepson, Charles Pearson of Miami, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Annie Mae McCray of Miami; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Louis; and a daughter, Roxie Mae. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Chapel Baptist Church, in the Jordan community of Manning, with the Rev. L.W. Walker Jr., pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. S. Hicks, the Rev. J.H. Ellison and Evangelist Creque. Benenhaley and Myrtle Amerson Benenhaley. Mrs. Plemons was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Survivors besides her husband of Dalzell and her parents of Dalzell include two sons, Stephen E. Sanderson of Dalzell and Robert D. Plemons Jr. of Sumter; a daughter, Tonya M. Porter of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Henry A. WALTERBORO — Bernice Wilson Pope of Walterboro, 79, widower of Flossie Aileen Todd Pope, who died May 5, 1991, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Georgetown Hospital. Born May 21, 1921, in the Good Hope community of Georgetown County, he was a son of the late John M. Pope and Mollie Caroline Goude Pope. Mr. Pope was retired with Santee Gun Club Plantation. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include four daughters, Ann P. Leland of Wando, Aileen P. Hutchinson and Carol P. Cribb, both of Georgetown, and Wanda P. Drawdy of Sumter; a sister, Mary P. Sikes of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro. MANNING — Alvin Jackson, 46, of Manning, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home, 116 Reardon St. in Manning after a sudden illness. Born Feb. 17, 1954, in Manning, he was a son of the late Ingram Jackson and Edna Ruth Major Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a graduate of Manning High School. He also attended Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C., Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree and Sumter Technical College. Survivors include three brothers, Johnny Lee Jackson of Lake City, and Joe Jackson and Leroy Jackson, both of Manning; and a sister, Julia Mae Abraham of Philadelphia. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. C. Richburg officiating. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery. MELVIN L. THOMPSON JR.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Melvin L. Thompson Jr., 52, formerly of Manning, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Prince George Hospital in Washington. Born May 12, 1947, he was a son of Melvin L. Thompson Sr. and the late Miriam Servance Thompson and was reared by his paternal grandparents, the late John “Bully” and Lottie Thompson Billups. Mr. Jackson received his formal education at Manning Training School. During his youth, he joined Trinity A.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the sunday school department. He was employed at D.C. General Hospital, Washington, until his retirement. Survivors include a daughter, Drucilla Thompson of Landover, Md.; three sisters, Lottie Thompson of Washington, Elaine Gregory of Columbia and Deborah Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Gregory Thompson of Washington and Carde Thompson of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Miriam Thompson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, with the Rev. SUMMERTON — Durant Bannister, 44, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston. Born Dec. 15, 1956, in Summerton in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Nelson Bannister and Lillie Mae Dow Bannister. Mr. Bannister was reared by his stepmother, the late Ethel Bannister. In his youth he attended Taw Caw Baptist Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Scott’s Branch High School. Mr. Bannister was formerly employed by the first owned Piggly Wiggly in Summerton. After moving to New York, he was manager of Key Foods for over 15 years. Survivors include a daughter, Duren Bannister of New York, N.Y.; three brothers, Willie Bannister of Brooklyn, N.Y., Abraham Bannister of Summerton and Melvin Bannister of Conway; and three sisters, Frances Bannister and Janet Junius, both of Summerton, and Lila Mae Green of Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in the chapel of Summerton Funeral Service, 111 S. Duke St., with the Rev. Neolis Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Summerton Funeral Service Cemetery in the Davis Station community. MIAMI, Fla. — Esther Dozier Dupree Carter, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at South Miami Hospital. Born May 1, 1923, in Clarendon County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Luther Dozier and Lily Plowden Dozier. Mrs. Carter attended Clarendon County public schools. In her early youth she accepted Christ and joined Williams Chapel Christian Church. After moving to Miami, she joined the William Chapel Christian Church, where she served in many capacities. She received an LPN degree at Miami Nursing School. She was employed for many years at Jackson Memorial Hospital until she retired. She was first married to the late Moses Dupree. Survivors include five sons, Joseph, Benjamin, Mose, Julius and Anthony Dupree; a brother, the Rev. Charles Dozier; four sisters, Ollie Mae Reaves, Dorothy Banks, Luther Mae Sumpter and Mattie Lou Fredericks; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Williams Chapel Christian Church, U.S. 521 East, Manning, S.C., with the Rev. Emanuel King, pastor, officiating, and the eulogy by the Rev. BARBIE L. DAVIS

BALTIMORE, Md. — Barbie Lee “Bobby” Davis, 51, husband of Elease Moses Davis and formerly of Manning, S.C., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at his home in Baltimore. Born May 27, 1948, he was a son of the late Johnnie Davis and Charlotte Shuler Davis. Mr. Davis attended Clarendon County public schools. In his youth he became a member of Mt. Chapel Baptist Church in the Jordan community of Manning. In 1968 he joined the U.S. Army. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Medal and was honorably discharged. He was employed for 15 years for the Eastern Product Company in Baltimore. Survivors besides his wife of the home include two sons, Barbie Davis Jr. and Charles Moses, both of Baltimore; two daughters, Charlene Davis of Baltimore and Georgette Jones of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Harold Davis of Baltimore and Herton Davis of Manning; five sisters, Dora Holland of Chester, Pa., Wilhelmenia Johnson, Ernestine Carter and Bernice Davis, all of Baltimore, and Ada McKinney of Manning. He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Moses; a grandson, Domick Bryant Moses; and two brothers, Willie A. Davis and Horace Davis Jr. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Chapel Baptist Church, in the Jordan community of Manning, with the Rev. L.W. Walker Jr., pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Warren Pierce, the Rev. Gary Miller and the Rev. Jerial Dingle. Burial will be in Union Cypress AME Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Ada McKinney, Route 7, Box 652, in the Jordan community of Manning. Samuels Funeral Home in Manning, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

JAMES A. DICKINSON

SHIELDS TOWNSHIP, Ill. — James A. Dickinson of the U.S. Navy, 31, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000. Born May 13, 1968, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of Dorothy Pearson and the grandson of the late Elijah Pearson and Nora Rubin Pearson of Bishopville, S.C. Mr. Dickinson attended school in Brooklyn and also attended a technical college in Brooklyn. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 9, 1988. Survivors besides his mother of Brooklyn include a brother, Larry Pearson of Brooklyn; and a sister, Sandra Grant of Brooklyn. Funeral services will full military honors will be held at noon Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Bishopville with the Rev. Dr. T.O. Everett, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Square Deal Funeral Home in Bishopville, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

MARY F. FULWOOD

MAYESVILLE — Mary Francis Fulwood, wife of William Lawrence Fulwood, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born July 4, 1930, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Napoleon and Adella Johnson Keels. Mrs. Fulwood was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for 30 years. Survivors besides her husband of Mayesville include three sons, James, William and Jeffrey Keels; a daughter, Thelma Keels; a brother, Woodrow Keels; three sisters, Ella Williams, Nadine Robinson and Edith Sowers; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Nelson, Marina Keels and Arthur Nelson; and a sister, Hattie Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willie Lawson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mayesville Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at noon. The family will receive friends at the home, 230 Davis St., Mayesville. Job’s Mortuary Inc. in Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

TRENTON E. JONES

Trenton E. “Tex” Jones, 72, husband of Gertrude J. Jones, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Longview, Texas, he was a son of the late Hill and Willie Mae McKenney Jones. Mr. Jones was a Methodist. He retired from the U.S. Air Force, and he was a World War II veteran. Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include a sister, Ruth E. Leonard of Texas; two nephews, Rusty and Bill Vance, both of Texas; two nieces, Nicia Snethen and Celia M. Dunlap, both of Sumter; a brother-in-law, Lem Caughman of Sumter; and a sister-in-law, Florence J. Caughman of Sumter. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Dalzell with the Rev. Walter Proctor officiating. Pallbearers will be Tyler “Doc” Dunlap, Roy McCathern, Kirk McLeod III, Marcus Ridgeway, Clifton Terry and Robert Terry. Memorials may be made to First Southern Methodist Church or to a charity of one’s choice. The family will receive friends at the home. Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

EUGENE PAGE JR.

Eugene Page Jr., husband of Beaulah White Page, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born June 20, 1942, in Shreveport, La., he was a son of the late Eugene Page Sr. and Rodessa R. Page. Mr. Page attended Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, where he was a member of the ROTC. He later entered the U.S. Army Reserves, and in 1960 he began a 21 year career in the U.S. Air Force. He spent many years stationed at Shaw Air Force Base. He received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1981. Upon retirement he was employed by GTE as a communications service technician in Myrtle Beach. In 1987, he moved back to Sumter and was a dedicated employee of Central Carolina Technical College, where he served as the supervisor of security and communications technical support. He received the Student Choice Award for 1998-1999. Survivors include a son, Kelvin Eugene Page of Conway; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Winn of Houston, Texas, Vinceca Maria Bright of Kingstree and Yvette Denise Page-Turner of Charleston; a sister, Laura L. Bryant; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke AME Church, U.S. 76/378, with the Rev. Robert R. Hooper, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Elisa Black giving the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors. Members of the U.S. Air Force honor guard will serve as pallbearers. The funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from his home, 309 W. Oakland Ave. The family will receive friends at his home. Williams Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

KATIE M. PARKER

Katie McFaddin Parker, 78, widow of Eli E. Parker, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at NHC Healthcare of Sumter. Born March 12, 1921, in Sardinia, she was a daughter of the late Jefferson David McFaddin and Leola Kate Rose McFaddin. Mrs. Parker was reared on a farm in Sardinia, played sports, piano and violin, and received a bachelor’s degree in music at Columbia College. She taught school before marriage, and then raised a family while helping her husband manage the farm. She taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church in Sumter, where she was a member for over 50 years and active in Sunday school and church circles. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Katie always had a beautiful smile and kind words for everyone, and she was devoted and loving to her Savior, her family and her friends. Survivors include two sons, Mac Parker of Columbia and Thorny Parker of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Faye Boomer of Severna Park, Md.; a brother, Norman J. McFaddin of Sardinia; a sister, Ruth Slagle of Florence; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Sumter with the Rev. Dr. Edward A. McLeod Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sardinia-Gable Cemetery. Grandsons, Charles Taylor, Jeff Boomer, Greg Boomer, Tripp Parker, Mason Parker and Eli Parker II will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Katie and Laurel Parker. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Sumter, Sardinia Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Stephens Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of arrangements.
