Bettie Louise Stacks Smallwood, 75 formerly of 204 O’Kelley Rd., Westminster, SC, died Saturday, May 26, 2006 in Mt. View Nursing Home, Clayton, Ga.

Born in Keiser, Ark. to the late John Westley and Nettie Bailey Stacks; she was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband Charles Eugene Smallwood and son David Harold Smallwood of the home.

Foster daughter Rosa Smallwood of Westminster.

Brother: Joseph Roberts Stacks of Mo.

Sisters: Thelma LaFave of Gwinn, Mich., Gertie Brasfield of Orlando, Fla., Carlie Moore of Wyandotte, Mich., Helen Blackwell of Orlando, Fla., and Nancy Meade Leamin of Kissimmee, Fla.

2 Grandchildren – Betty & Tina

In addition to her parents, a daughter Linda Hampton, grandson Timothy James Smallwood, brothers Bill, Lloyd and Lester Stacks, and sister Sylvia Anderson precede her death.

Funeral Services will be 1 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel, Westminster, with burial following in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Sandifer Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

JEANETTE HAWKINS

Seneca – Jeanette Frances Craine Hawkins, 72, of 1211 Burns Dr., died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oconee County in 1935, she was retired from Beacon Mfg. and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are husband Clarence George Hawkins of the home, sons George Bradley and James Michael Hawkins of Seneca, daughters Frances Smith, Daisy Lynn Cannon and Cathy Ann Cannon all of Seneca, sister Joyce Baxton of Seneca, cousins Lisa Chapman, Greg Hawkins, Genia Hawkins and Scott Hawkins and one grandchild, Misty Renee Hunnicutt.

Her parents Ernest and Eugenia Craine precede her in death.

A private family burial will be held at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills Foundation, 390 Keowee School Rd., Seneca, SC 29672.

Hattie Freeman

Westminster – Hattie McGuffin Freeman, 95, of 247 Burt Freeman Dr., died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Helen, GA in 1912, she had worked at Oconee Mills for several years.

Mrs. Freeman was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed taking care of her family.

She was a member of Clearmont Baptist Church and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughters Hazel McCall of Westminster, Sara Sims of Seneca and Mary Ann Holden of Walhalla, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Her husband, the late Williams Burt Freeman, son James Leroy Freeman, grandson Barry McCall, great grandson Michael Leopard, parents Lawrence and Sue Bell Pitts McGuffin, four brothers and two sisters precede her in death.

Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster.

Burial will follow at Clearmont Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2-3 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Clearmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 1740 Clearmont Rd, Westminster, SC 29693. The family is at their respective homes.

OLLIE CARVER

Seneca – Ollie Eva Lee Carver, 87, formerly of Westminster died Friday, August 24, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oconee County in 1919, Mrs. Carver had retired from the textile industry having worked for 10 years at Beacon Mfg., and later at Richland Garment Plant. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons Roy Carver and wife Brenda of Savannah, GA., and Charles Carver and wife Judy of Seneca, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and half-brother Carlize Lee of Westminster.

Her husband, John Henry Carver, parents Bert and Sally Harbin Lee and eight siblings predecease her.

Graveside services will be 3:30 pm, Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 2-3 pm, August 26, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Flowers are accepted.

Dewey Bowen

Westminster – Dewey Ryal Bowen, 88, of 5857 West Oak Hwy, died Friday, August 24, 2007 at his home.

Born in Oconee County in 1918, Mr. Bowen was a member of the Westminster Rotary Club; he was a Paul Harris Fellow and a founder of the Westminster Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, a member of the Cattleman’s Association and Bethel Baptist Church.

He was the owner of B & B Pipeline Company.

Surviving is wife Lula Bess Keese Bowen of the home, sons Dewey Keese Bowen of Walhalla, John Ryal Bowen and Edward Eubanks Bowen both of Westminster, daughters Mahala Bowen Moore of Colbert, GA., and Peggy Bowen Moore of Westminster, brothers John Hulan Bowen of Mobile, AL, sister Ethelda Bowen Ables of Sanford, FL, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

His parents Adger DeWitt and Ethel Eubanks Bowen, brother Lamar Bowen and sisters Francis, B. Hough, Wyona Richey and Patricia Garrison precede him in death.

The family will receive friends 4-6 pm, Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster.

A private family burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 in the Bowen Family Cemetery.

The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Westminster Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, c/o Connie Spencer, Westminster Rotary, 118 W. Windsor St., Westminster, SC 29693.

Seneca – Betty Emma Crymes Leroy, 78, of 455 Lawrence Bridge Rd., died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Greenville County in 1929, Mrs. Leroy was a homemaker.

Surviving are sons Floyd Clifton “Nut” Leroy, Jr., Donnie Wayne Leroy and James Richard “Rick” Leroy all of Seneca, daughters Sarah Brown and Betty Johnson both of Seneca, sister Frances Beech of Hickory, NC, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two expected great grandchildren.

Her husband, the late Floyd Clifton Leroy, son Billy Edward Leroy, parents Bub and Delia McJunkin Crymes, brother James Crymes and sister Willie Mae Justice predecease her.

Funeral services will be 11:30 am, Saturday, August 25, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster.

Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am, Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are accepted.

Theresa Walsh-Mollenhauer

Seneca, SC – Theresa Tucker Walsh Mollenhauer, 94, of Benton Village formerly of St. Augustine, FL died Thursday, July 12, 2007 at her residence.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1913 to Thomas and Mary Lawlor Tucker.

Mrs Mollenhauer retired as an administrative assistant to the president in the banking industry in 1976 and moved to Pinellas Park, Florida before moving to St. Augustine, Fl, where she lived until moving to South Carolina.

Surviving is a son Dr. Thomas F. Walsh of Salem, SC; two daughters, Theresa Maloney of Mattawan, MI and Jeannie Castle of Blue Point, NY, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Francis A. Walsh and second husband Gerard Mollenhauer.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Mrs. Mollenhauer’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Foothills Foundation, 390 Keowee School Rd, Seneca, SC 29672.

Westminster – Glena Mamie Smith Wilson, 88, of 943 Seed Farm Rd., died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Habersham County, GA in 1919, she was a homemaker and member of Clearmont Baptist Church.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are daughters Shelby Wittrock and Helen Busha both of Westminster, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Her husband Bewley D. Wilson, parents Charlie and Ellie Mae Reppes Smith, brothers Fred and George Smith and sisters Mae McNab, Lacy Ellrod and Faye Kelly precede her in death.

Funeral services will be 11 am, Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster.

Burial will follow in the Clearmont Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Sandifer Funeral Home.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Shelby Wittrock, 943 Seed Farm Rd., Westminster.

Flowers are accepted.

Liberty – Harbin Billy Brown, 65, of 1143 Chastain Rd. died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oconee County in 1941 he retired from the textile industry and attended Light House Mission Church.

Mr. Brown was a Mason and a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are wife Dorothy Smith Brown of the home, sons Richard Dean Brown of Pickens and Russell James Brown of Commerce, GA, daughter Norma Jean Hendrix of Liberty, brother Paul Brown of Seneca, sisters Ola Mae Holder, Betty Youngblood, Elizabeth Stancil, Cody Beatty and Edline Logan, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

His parents Gordon and Martha Johnson Brown and a son Billy Ray Brown precede him in death.

Funeral services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster.

Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Hwy 11, Westminster.

The family will receive friends 12 – 1:30 pm, prior to the service on Tuesday.

The family is at the residence and flowers are accepted.
