Jean B. Latham

IVA -- Jean Brown Latham, of Parker Bowie Road, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Iva, she was a homemaker, Past Matron of The Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Generostee Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she served as Pianist for a number of years.

Surviving are sisters, Lois Lane of Annapolis, Md. and Mildred Jordan of Asheville, N.C.; and a brother, Grier Brown of Iva.

She was the widow of the Rev. Vernon Latham and the daughter of the late William David and Varina Campbell Brown. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Brice Hood Brown, David Brown, James L. Brown and Stewart Brown; and a sister, Sara Brown Evans.

Graveside services are at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Generostee Baptist A.R.P. Church cemetery with Dr. L. Thomas Richie officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family will be at their respective homes. The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel.

The family suggests memorials be made to the church or charity of choice.

John C. Mish

IVA -- John Cashimer Mish, 59, of 144 Sharon and Karen Road, husband of Debra R. Mish, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel.

John Harte

May 20, 1924 -- June 5, 2003
ANDERSON -- John Joseph Harte, 79, of 4204 Ridge Road, formerly of Newburgh, N.Y., died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Hospice House.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and attended St. Anselm's College before entering the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a Lieutenant. Following the war, he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He was an engineer with DuPont Corporation and Stauffer Chemical Company. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are widow, Frances "Barney" C. Harte of the home; sons, Peter J. Harte of Cleveland, Ohio and Thomas M. Harte of Short Hills, N.J.; daughter, Jean P. Harte of Berkeley, Calif.; brother, William P. Harte of Plymouth Township, Pa.; sister, Madelyn Harte of Pittsfield, MA; and five grandchildren.

He was the son of the late William J. Harte and Elizabeth C. Harte. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John H. Harte and Bridget M. Harte, Peter P. Curtin and Julia K. Curtin; and three sisters, Elizabeth O'Gara, Rosemary Harte and Gertrude Brennan.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father James Dubrouillet; burial will be held in Pittsfield, MA on Tuesday, June 10, 2003.The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The family will be at the residence.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

John Nickles

BELTON -- John Oscar Nickles, 82, husband of Jane Thornton Nickles, of 120 Woodlake Drive, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Friday, June 6, 2003 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson. The body is the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family will be at the residence.

Lucile Wiley

ABBEVILLE -- Lucile Scott Wiley, 69, resident of Abbeville Arms Apts., died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Hospice House, Anderson.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, Abbeville.

Macie Olgelsby

IVA -- Macie Olgelsby, of 110 Riddle Road, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Hospice House of the Upstate.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Unity Mortuary, Anderson.

The family is at the home.

Peanut Gibson

Sept. 11, 1945 -- June 6, 2003
PELZER -- Dennis Forest Gibson, 57, of 408 Chevy Chase Blvd., died Friday, June 6, 2003 at his residence.

Born in Anderson, he was employed as a truck driver with Momentum Logistics in Greer. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are widow, Joann Emery Gibson of the home; father and stepmother, Dennis A. Gibson and Mable H. Gibson of Sandy Springs; son, Russell R. Gibson of Pendleton; stepsons, James Abercrombie of Greenville, Kevin Abercrombie and Jeffrey Vaughn, both of Pelzer; stepsisters, Vickie M. Rumsey of Anderson and Margaret M. Pruitt of Warner Robins, Ga.; and a number of grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Gladys Thomason Gibson.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Seneca, by the Rev. Jimmy Cox; burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The family will be at the residence and respective homes.

Ruth Jimerson

LIBERTY -- Ruth Biter Holcombe Jimerson, 72, of Mullberry, Fla., formerly of Liberty, died Thursday, June 5, 2003.
Born in Oconee County, she was formerly a nurse at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens and was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church.

Surviving are widower, Kenneth Gene Jimerson of the home; daughters, Lynne Clayton of Liberty and Janet Nations of Six Mile; sons, Gregory Holcombe of Pickens and Johnny Holcombe of Fletcher, N.C.; sister, Mary Capps of Selma, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Maude Coreen Goss Biter.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Liberty Mortuary; entombment will be in Liberty Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The family will be at the home of Lynn Clayton, 204 Heathwood Drive, Hampton Place, Liberty.

Todd Overcash

PENDLETON -- Creighton Todd Overcash, 14, son of Butch and Lisa Overcash, of 2137 Dannehower Road, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in Pendleton.
Funeral arrangements will be announced The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Tracey Vargo Sr.

June 1, 1980 -- June 4, 2003
NORTH CHARLESTON -- Tracey Adam Vargo Sr., of North Charleston, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003.

Born in Easley, he was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans.

Surviving are widow, Melissa Burek Vargo of North Charleston; daughter, Jasmin Eve Vargo of North Charleston; son, Tracey Adam Vargo Jr. of North Charleston; brothers, Matthew Vargo of Summerville, Steven Robinson of North Charleston, Stephen Vargo of Chiliota, Fla., Christopher Vargo of Deltona, Fla., and Jeffrey Vargo of Hopkins, Ky.; sisters, Sandi Vargo of Deltona, Fla., Cheri Smith of Orlando, Fla., and Michelle Resos of St. Augustine, Fla.: mother, Shelby Gable Vargo of North Charleston; maternal grandmother, Geraldine Gable of Abbeville; and his paternal grandmother, Katherine Crozier of Orlando, Fla.

He was the son of the late Michael J. Vargo and was preceded in death by a brother, John Vargo; and his maternal grandfather, Wallace Gable.

Funeral services are at 5 p.m. Sunday at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., North Area Chapel in North Charleston.

Additional funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Fellowship Weslyn Church in Iva. Burial will follow in Iva City Cemetery.

William F. Westbrook

ANDERSON -- William F. Westbrook, 70, husband of Glenda Westbrook, of 906 Mountain Creek Church Road, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by The McDougald Funeral Home.

William West

May 5, 1923 -- June 6, 2003
HICKORY, N.C. -- William Earl West, age 80, of Hickory, N.C., husband of Mary Susan Smith West, died Friday, June 6, 2003 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born in Spartanburg County, S.C. on May 5, 1923, Mr. West was the son of James Patrick and Lula Bagwell West. He was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. He was a retired Division Manager at Piedmont Natural Gas Company with 28 years of service. He was a former member of Hickory Lion's Club, former member of Hickory Rotary Club, worked with Hospice of Catawba Valley, and served in the US Air Force WW 2. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C.

Mr. west was very active in the Hickory Chamber of Commerce. He was a registered professional engineer in North Carolina and South Carolina, former member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, a former director of Catawba County Economic Development Committee.

He is survived by a son, Craig West of Hickory, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenney and Debbie V. West of Anderson, S.C.; grandsons, Robert West and David West, both of Anderson, S.C.; granddaughter, Stephanie West of Anderson, S.C.; great-granddaughters, Lauren West, Ashley West and Rebecca Elise West, all of Anderson, S.C.; sisters, Ruth W. Hahn of Salisbury, N.C., Betty W. Mullinax of Tucker, Ga. and Doris W. Mullinax of Columbia, S.C.; and a special friend, Caroline Robbins of Hickory, N.C.

Mr. West is preceded in death by 2 brothers, James Harold (Red) West, Greenville, S.C. and Warren Wright West, East Spencer, N.C.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Lakeview Baptist Church with the Reverends Ben Rowe, Bruce Schronce and Lynn Houston officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, S.C. (Graveside Services will be held at 4 PM Monday.) Visitation will be from 7-8:30 PM Sunday night at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.

Active Pallbearers will be Cotton Lyalls, Mark Webb, Bryan Hildebran, Jeff Fussell, Doug Vance and Robert Parlier.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Bob Bowles School Class at Lakeview Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 4080 North Center Street, Hickory, N.C. 28601 or to Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, N.C. 28658.

A.E. "Bush" Bouchillon

PIEDMONT -- Archie Edward "Bush" Bouchillon, 82, of 27 Fairview Drive died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville County, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was apPurchasing agent for Bi-Lo before his retirement. He was a member and deacon of Grove Road Baptist Church.

Surviving are widow, Jean Greenway Bouchillon of the home; daughter, Debbie Grooms of Simpsonville; son, Barry Bouchillon of Clemson; sisters, Leuna Kay of Abbeville and Julia Alewine of Antreville; brother, Roger Leslie Bouchillon of Greenville; and five grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Lee Junot and Frances Campbell Bouchillon. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Guilford, Hobson and Louie Bouchillon.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grove Road Baptist Church; burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

The family is at the residence.

Memorials may be made to Grove Road Baptist Church, 1223 Grove Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605.

Annie Ruth Jenkins

SENECA -- Annie Ruth Gibson Jenkins, of 911 S. Stribling St. died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oconee County, she was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Townville.

Surviving are daughters, Paula Anita Dunston of Seneca and Casandra Jenkins of Westminster; mother, Ovaline Williams Gibson; sisters, Elzora Pickens, Jacqueline Gibson and Mabeline Earl, all of Seneca; brother, Clarence Gibson of Easley; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was the daughter of the late L.C. Gibson.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Townville; burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Mortuary. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

The family is at the home of daughter, Paula Dunston, 108 Elane Drive, Seneca.
