ANDERSON -- Jack Alve Holler, 67, husband of Colette Looney Holler of 320 Lakeforest Circle, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by The McDougald Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home.

The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

JACK SANDERS SR.

Feb. 2, 1932 -- Jan. 6, 2005

ANDERSON -- Jack Brown Sanders Sr., 72, of 306 Keith Ave. died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, he was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Anderson. He was retired from the United States Navy and the Michelin Corporation. He was a torpedo MD 46 Shop Supervisor and petty officer of weapons department, USS YELLOWSTONE. He was the recipient of the following awards: Good Conduct, National Defense Medal (two awards); United Nations Service Medal; Korean Service Medal (four stars); Korean Presidential Unit Citation; Japanese Occupation Medal; China Service Medal and Lebanon Expeditionary Medal.

Surviving are his widow, Pauline Pierce Sanders of the home; sons, Jack Sanders Jr. and Terrance Sanders, both of Anderson; sister, Betty Sanders Bolt of North Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was the son of the late Roscoe "Scoby" Sanders and Vera Brown Sanders. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Berry Sanders and Fred Sanders.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tracy Ivester; burial will be in New Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson with full military rites. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The family will be at the home of his granddaughter, Tonya Porter, 304 Keith Ave., Anderson.

Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Easter Seal Society, 1104 Ella St., Anderson, S.C. 29621.

LEXANNA H. 'PETE' BURTON

Oct. 12, 1922 -- Jan. 6, 2005

ANDERSON -- Lexanna H. Burton, 82, of Anderson, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was retired from South Carolina National Bank as a bank teller. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son, Charles D. Burton Jr. of Anderson; daughter, Connie Herring of Abbeville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of Charles D. Burton and was the daughter of the late William Augustas Heaton and Ella Whitten Heaton. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Idanell Woolbright and Sara Elrod.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson by the Rev. Frank Lybrand. The family will be at the home of her son, 117 Oxford Drive, (Regency Park) Anderson.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LINDA CLAMP ACKER

HONEA PATH -- Linda Clamp Acker, 58, wife of David Acker of 208 Shaw Rd., Honea Path died Thursday, Jan. 6th at home.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Lucy Hughes Clamp and the late Raymond Lewis Clamp. She was a beloved mother and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are: Sons, Danny Acker of the home, Robert Gregory Acker and wife Angie Tribble Acker of Honea Path; Daughter, Misty Clamp of the home; Brothers, Roger Clamp of Anderson, Eddie Clamp of Honea Path; Grandsons, Austin Acker and Donnie Ray Dooley.

A brother Bobby Clamp predeceased her.

Services will be held 3:00pm Saturday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm Saturday prior to service at Cox Funeral Home.

The family is at the residence.

LINDA SMITH

SENECA -- Linda Lee Ramsay Smith, 55, of 130 Sunny Dell Drive died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, in the St. Francis Hospital, Greenville.

Born on September 7, 1949 in Oconee County, she was a computer operator with the Oconee County School System, retired from Code Elementary and a member of Seneca Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her widower, Aaron D. Smith of the home; son, A. Todd Smith of Seneca; brother: Gene Ramsay of Westminster; and sisters, Martha Knight of Jacksonville, Fla., Elizabeth McLemore of Hartsell, Ala., Catherine "Caty" Taffe of Atlanta and Ann Smith of Seneca.

She was the daughter of the late E. B. "Buck" and Virginia Dickson Ramsay Jr.

Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Sandifer Funeral Home chapel, Westminster with burial following in the Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House Building Fund, Hospice of The Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, S.C. 29678.

MARTHA 'EVIE' CLEMONS ORR

June 14, 1913 -- Jan. 6, 2005

ANDERSON -- Martha Clemons Orr, 91, of Anderson, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at NHC HealthCare of Anderson.

Born in Tennessee, she was a member of Homeland Park Church of God. She was retired from textiles.

Surviving are sons, Robert T. "Bobby" Foster of Anderson and Paul H. Foster of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; daughter, Sue O. Todd of Anderson; sisters, Nanie B. Bennett and Mildred Gaines Peterson, both of Anderson, and Pearl Mize of Starr; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was the widow of George J.B. Orr and was the daughter of the late Haver T. Clemons and Carrie Prather Clemons, She was preceded in death by one son, George E. "Eddie" Orr; one brother; three sisters; and one grandson, Michael Carl Foster.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Mike Harrell and Roy Puckett; burial will be in New Silverbrook Cemetery, Anderson. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Robert T. "Bobby" Foster, 411 E. Roosevelt Drive, Anderson.

Flowers are optional. The family suggests memorials be made to NHC HealthCare, Foundation for Geriatric Education, 1501 E. Greenville St., Anderson, S.C. 29621.

MRS. LEILA SAVANNAH MULLINAX

Aug. 15, 1924 -- Jan. 6 2005

BELTON, SC -- Mrs. Leila Savannah Smith Mullinax, age 80, wife of the late Robert T. Mullinax, Sr., of 207 Anderson Street, Belton, SC, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA.

Born in Anderson, SC on August 15, 1924, Mrs. Mullinax was the daughter of the late Marion B. Smith and Ethel Gary Smith. She was a 1941 graduate of Girls High School and a member of Young Memorial A.R.P. Church. She was a former employee of McCord & Reeves in Hapeville, GA as an insurance secretary.

She is survived by a son, Robert T. "Ted" Mullinax, Jr., and his wife, Ginny Mullinax of Lawrenceville, GA; daughters, Gary M. Banks and her husband, Art Banks of Belton, SC and Ann M. Jordan and her husband, Larry Jordan of Belton, SC; brother, Miles "Tag" Smith and his wife, Evelyn Smith of Charlotte, NC and sister-in-law, Josie G. Smith of Anderson, SC.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles M. Smith, James B. Smith and Joseph G. "Gary" Smith and a sister, Annie Elizabeth Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 10:30 am at Belton City Cemetery, Belton, SC officiated by Dr. L. Thomas Richie.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at The McDougald Funeral Home.

The family will be at the residence, 207 Anderson Street, Belton, SC.

RACHEL MCALISTER

WILLIAMSTON -- Rachel B. Owens McAlister, 83, of 3 Tony St. died Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was twice married, first to the late Alvin R. Owens and then to the late Rev. James A. McAlister.

She was the daughter of the late Connor and Pawnee Bradshaw Brown. She was a homemaker and charter member of the Pelzer Church of God.

Surviving are son, Jim Owens of Williamston with whom she made her home; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Dell Owens of Taylors; three stepchildren; a brother and his wife, William E. and Shortie Brown of West Pelzer; two grandchildren, Ryan Owens and his wife, Stephanie of Easley, Ashley M. Owens, Ph.D. of Taylors. Her heart longed to see her first great-grandson, Grayson Owens, due to be born January 13, 2005.

Funeral services will be 2pm Sunday at the Pelzer Church of God. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

The family is at the home and will receive friends 6-8pm Saturday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

RED BANNISTER

June 15, 1928 -- Jan. 7, 2005

ANDERSON -- John Allan Bannister Jr., 76, of 515 Airline Road died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at his residence.

Born in Anderson, he was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas and was a United States Navy World War II veteran.

Surviving are his son, Guy Allan Bannister of Gainesville, Ga.; daughter, Terri Moon of Starr; brother, Herman Jerome Bannister of Anderson; sister, Mildred Latham of Carey, N.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was the son of the late John Allan Bannister and Georiga McLaurin Bannister.

Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson by the Rev. Gary Bill. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Terri Moon, 116 First Ave., Starr.

The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT H. TALLEY

SENECA -- Robert "Bob" H. Talley, 52, of 1096 Fairfield Drive died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 18, 1942 in Shelleyville, Tenn., he was a maintenance worker for Camp Kindering Recreational and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran.

Surviving are widow, Judith Lane Wood Talley of the home; stepson, James A. Turner II of Seneca; stepdaughters, Pamela Jordan of Six Mile, Rhonda Lanetta Jordan of Clayton, Ga., and Tammy Lynn Jordan and Cathy Jo Jordan, both of Seneca; 13 grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Paul Alexander Sr. and Clara Curtis Curley Talley. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bart, Paul, Jr., and David Talley; and two sisters, Nancy Talley and Peggy Ashey.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, S.C. 130, Seneca with burial following in Heritage Memorial Gardens, Westminster. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster.

The family is at the residence of James and Betty Wood, 1005 South Depot St., Seneca.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Foothills 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca.

THOMAS CHRISTMAS

CLEMSON -- Thomas Christmas, 61, of 218 Summey St. died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gilbert Funeral Parlor of Seneca.

The family will be at the home.

BEATRICE MASON

WESTMINSTER - Beatrice Lorene Mason, 87 of 230 Deer Run Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Mariner Health Care in Seneca.

Born in Hartwell, Ga. on June 22, 1917, she was retired from Roses and was a homemaker.

She was a very active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Westminster where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir and was a member of the Adult Sunday school class.

Survivors are his sons, Steve Mason of Westminster and Lloyd Mason of Seneca; brothers, J.T. Brown of Toccoa, Ga. and Thomas Brown Jr. of Seneca; sister, Betty Richardson of Seneca; and one grandson.

She was the widow of James Cohen Mason and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Betty Byrum Brown. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles, Robert and Ray Brown; and two sisters, Mary Brown Roberts and Leona Brown.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

The family is at their respective homes.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Mason to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund, 512 Mt. Pleasant Road, Westminster, S.C. 29693.
