ABBEVLLE - Delores Johnson, 68, of 42 Oak Lawn Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville County, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Jackson and Tilman Wooden. She was a retired employee of Abbeville Nursing Home, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are daughters, Sherry Sanders and Barbara Crawford, both of Abbeville, Tammy Johnson of Columbia, Judi Gooden of Detroit, Mich., and Charlene Parker of Atlanta; son, Terry Johnson of Abbeville; brothers, John Henry Jackson of Calhoun Falls, Tillan Wooden of Decatur, Ga., and Joseph Wooden, Henry L. Wooden and Hiram Wooden, all of Harvey, Ill; sisters, Jean Hall and Junanita Baker, both of Harvey, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Alice Ridgill; burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Garden. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday. Visitation and viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Brown and Walker Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home.

DERRICK LAMAR WILEY

July 13, 1968 - Jan. 30, 2005

Derrick Lamar Wiley, 36, of 504 Crescent Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Anderson Area Medical Center.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Linda and Marlee Wiley. He was a member of Mt. Able Baptist Church in Anderson County.

Surviving are his widow, Diane F. Wiley; sons, Derrick Jr., Brandon and Traywon Wiley, all of Anderson; brother, Chadric A. Wiley of Columbia; sister, Shajuana Boyd of Anderson; and his stepsisters, Lagana Lawrence of Summerville and Jennifer Pugh of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elijah and Naomi McDowell Robinson.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Able Baptist Church in Anderson County by the Revs. Jerome Taylor and James Blanding; burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The family is at the home.

FRANCES LOLLIS CULPEPPER

Sept. 20, 1924 - Feb. 2, 2005

ANDERSON - Frances Lollis Culpepper, 80, of 1053 West Whitner St., wife of the late Joseph Culpepper, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Brooks Lollis and Jane Montez Lollis. She was retired from McLeoud Rentals with 23 years of service as a bookkeeper and accountant and was formerly employed with The McDougald Funeral Home as a hostess.

She was a member of High Praises Church of God and a former member of McDuffie Street Church of God.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia LaVone Holden of Greenville; brothers, Ernest Lollis of Powdersville, Kenneth Lollis of Anderson and Douglas Lollis of Starr; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Ariel Propes; and a sister, Elizabeth Shiflet.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Revs. Chris Sustar and Delton Hand. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

JESSE BOUCHILLON

ABBEVILLE, SC - Jesse Lee Bouchillon, 16, resident of 531 Bouchillon Rd., Nation Community, Abbeville, SC, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at his home.

Born in Anderson, SC, he was a son of Dave Pruitt Bouchillon and Rita Whitfield Thomas.

He was a sophomore at Dixie High School where he was very active in school activities. He was a member of the Dixie High School football team and was the Head Goaltender on the Varsity Soccer Team.

Survivors are his father, Dave Pruitt Bouchillon of the home; mother, Rita Whitfield Thomas of Greenville, SC; 2 sisters, Tracy Clamp of Anderson, SC and Angie Gray of Anderson, SC; grandmothers, Patsy Bouchillon of Abbeville, SC and Sarah Graham of Anderson, SC.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 4, 2005 at 2:00PM from Due West ARP Church with the Rev. Terry Greer officiating. The burial will follow in Bells United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of Wendy Newell, 1854 Hwy 284, Abbeville, SC and at the home of his sister, Tracy Clamp, 2610 Whitehall Ave., Anderson, SC.

The body is at the Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM Thursday evening.

Memorials may be made to the Dixie High School Booster Club, PO Box 158, Due West, SC 29639.

Active Pallbearers will be Kyle Crawford, Matthew Graham, Chris Graham, Christian Kay, Jeffery Hannah, Jacob Turner, Elijah Proctor and John Proctor.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dixie High School football and soccer teams.

LEGRAND M. SPARKS

CLEMSON, SC - LeGrand McIver (Mac) Sparks, 85, of 103 Strawberry Lane, Clemson, died at Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, SC, on Tuesday, February 2, 2005. Born in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late LeGrand McIver Sparks, Sr. and Beatrice Millsaps Sparks.

He graduated from Clemson University in 1941 with a degree in Entomology and entered active duty as a 2nd Lt. with the 13th Infantry of the 8th Division. In the Infantry, he served as a platoon leader, company commander, and Intelligence Officer. In 1943, Mr. Sparks transferred to the Air Corps where he completed flight training and served as an instrument instructor, adjutant, intelligence officer, and flight commander. he piloted B-24 and B-29 aircraft. After six years of active duty, he joined the Reserves-retiring with 28 years of service as a Lt. Colonel. Upon separation from active duty, he was employed by the Clemson University Extension Service and served as cotton entomologist and wildlife specialist. He retired in 1976 with 30 years of service to the state. Mr. Sparks was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, and a Mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church near Seneca, SC.

Surviving him are sisters-in-law, Aretha Sears King of Hilton Head, SC and Priscilla Sears Schmidt of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 5th at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clemson University Foundation, 110 Daniel Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.

MYRTLE R. MICHEL

June 29, 1925 - January 22, 2005

GREENVILLE, SC - Myrtle "Perkie" Michel, 79, of Lambertville, MI, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005 following a battle with Alzheimer's disease and it's complication. Born June 29, 1925 in Anniston, AL, she was the daughter of the late E.R. "Rob" and Ola McCall Robertson.

Gifted with a lovely voice and often asked to sing at church and for weddings and funerals, she especially enjoyed singing with her sisters at Donaldson Air Base USO where she met her future husband, Marlan "Mike" Michel. married in 1945, they later attended Columbia Bible College. Following Mike's graduation, they served as missionaries in Brazil for 38 years with the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions. While there, Perkie fostered many strong relationships with their Brazilian friends.

After Mike became ill with Parkinson's disease, she devoted her life to caring for him until his death in 2000. She spent the last 18 months with her daughter, Terrie in Lambertville, MI while battling Alzheimer's disease.

She is survived by her children: Sheri (Ken) Fenn, Terrie (Bob) Houck, Sam (Mary), Paula (Michael) Beebe and Janet Michel; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Estelle Roberts, Louise Cochran, Deede Bagwell, Bookie Rigdon and brothers, Charles and Dick. She was predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen, Roy and Buddy (James).

Funeral services: Sunday, February 6, 2005 at 3:30PM at The Mackey Mortuary with visitation from 1:30PM until the hour of service.

Graveside services: Monday, February 7, 2005 at 11:00AM in Six and Twenty Baptist Church Cemetery, Pendleton, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions, 246 W. Walnut Ln., Philadelphia, PA 19144.

August 19, 1906 - February 3, 2005

HARTWELL - Mrs. Nell Adams Myers, 98, of Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, formerly of the Sardis Community, Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.

Born August 19, 1906 in Hart County, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Luther Adams and Mary Jane Bobo Adams. She was a retired Lunchroom Supervisor from Sardis School and worked at Hart County High School Lunchroom. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

She is survived by: daughter, Jane A. Seawright of Hartwell, GA; two grandchildren, Linda Findley of Hartwell, GA and Peggy Smith of Duluth, GA; and four great grandchildren, Nick Harris, Jeff Harris, Lindsey Smith and Parker Smith. She was preceded in death by husband, Floyd Myers and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 2:00p.m. from the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2:00p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home of Linda Findley, 298 Uly White Road, Hartwell, GA. Memorials may be made to Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 1219, Hartwell, GA 30643.

SAVALAS COWANS

CHAROLTTE, N.C. - Savalas Cowans, 26, of 822 Tiger Lane, formerly of Anderson, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at CMC University Hospital Charlotte, N.C.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., Anderson.

The family will be at the home of his mother, Wilma Cowans, 302 Pennelly St., Anderson, SC.

VIRGINIA SMITH

BELTON - Virginia Campbell Smith, 77, of Belton, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the Hospice House, Anderson, S.C.

Born on October 5, 1927, in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late William V. and Ione T. Campbell. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy C. Campbell and C. Edwin Campbell.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norman W. Smith; five children and their spouses: Keith and Beth Smith of Richmond, VA; Kaye and Stephen Morrow of Cleveland, TN; Jerry and Donna Smith of Belton; Dennis and Janet Smith of Newberry; and Donna Bradberry of Anderson; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers and their spouses: Thomas and Kathryn Campbell of Laurens; Frances and Gordon Thackston of Simpsonville; Mary Jane and Warren Templeton of Spartanburg; John H. Campbell of Greenville; Taylor and Joyce Campbell of Greenwood; and Cecil and Ann Campbell of Boyce, VA; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Campbell and Debbie Campbell, Gray Court.

She was a partner in Smith's Accounting and Income Tax Service for more than 30 years, was a member of Belton First Baptist Church, the Martha Adams Kay Sunday School Class, and for over 20 years served as active teacher and leader of the church's youth.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 5, at Belton First Baptist Church, with Rev. T. Dale Lynch and Dr. Booker Bagby officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Cox Funeral Home, Belton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry, P. O. Box 366, Belton, S.C. 29627, or Callie and John Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

THE REV. PAUL W. KREBS

Dec. 24, 1925 -- March 17, 2005

STARR -- The Rev. Paul William Krebs, 79, of Starr died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Anderson Area Medical Center in Anderson.

Born in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of Edna King Krebs of Dover and the late Homer Krebs. He pastored for more than 50 years at the Foursquare Church in New York, Washington, Ohio and retired in 1995 from Rochester, N.Y. He was a member and served as the senior's pastor of the First Assembly of God in Anderson. He was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his widow, Marilyn E. Krebs of the home; daughters, Marla Kay Allen and Marcine Baker, both of York, Pa.; stepdaughters, Angela Buck of New Hampshire and Pamela Smith and Cheryl Raczynski, both of California; brother, Charles Krebs of New Philadelphia, Ohio; sister, Gloria Kleinhen of Rootstown, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Krebs and his first wife, Ruth Marie Sweitzer Krebs.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Assembly of God in Anderson by the Rev. Phillip Sears. Interment will follow in Grand View Union Cemetery in Strasburg, Ohio. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

BEATRICE LOCKARD KELLY

May 18, 1919 -- March 17, 2005

Beatrice Lockard Kelly passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2005. She was born on May 18, 1919 in Barboursville, KY, the daughter of Gertrude and Betty Jane Baker Lockard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude J. Kelly; 2 sons, Bobby Ray Kelly and Roy Lockard Kelly; a great-grandson, Levii English; 3 brothers, Dillard, George, and Tilmon Lockard; and a sister, Leo Newman.

Mrs. Kelly was a homemaker, a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Rabun Chapter #164, and a director of Rabun County Bank from 1990-2002. In 1935 Beatrice married Claude Kelly, a native of Rabun County. They traveled with the TVA until 1945 when they returned to Rabun County and established Rabun Quarries, Inc. on Kelly's Creek Road in Rabun Gap. The Quarry is still owned by the Claude Kelly family, leased and operated by Vulcan Materials.

Survivors include one son, William (Bill) T. Kelly and his wife, Jean of Dillard, GA; two daughters, Betty Wyatt and her husband, Leigh of Rabun Gap, and Claudia Cantrell and her husband, Jim of Columbus, GA; one sister, Sue Rice of Oak Ridge, TN; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Lockard of Orlando, FL and Top Lockard of Berea, KY; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19, 2005 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard at 2:00PM with the Reverend Doug Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Wesley Memorial Cemetery at Rabun Gap. The pallbearers will be her grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roy Kelly Benevolent Fund at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church, 895 Franklin Street, Dillard, GA 30537.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Betty Wyatt on Kellys Creek Road in Rabun Gap.
