EARLIE GRADY CLINKSCALES

Dec. 28, 1916 - May 1, 2006

ANDERSON - Earlie Grady Clinkscales, age 89, of 405 Sims St., Anderson, SC, died Monday, May 1, 2006 at Anderson Area Medical Center.

A native of Anderson County, Mr. Clinkscales was a son of the late Horace and Annie Clinkscales. He was married to the late Malona Louise Chamblee Clinkscales. He was a member of Royal Baptist Church, Anderson, where he was a member of the Deacon Board. He also was a mason.

Services will be at 2p.m. Thursday at Royal Baptist Church, Anderson with the Rev. Julius Sciplo officiating. burial will be in the Anderson Memorial Garden Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church Thursday at 1p.m. until hour of service.

Survivors include his sons, Grady Clinkscales of Anderson, SC, Horace (Ernestine) Clinkscales of Lawrenceville, GA, John (Karen) Clinkscales of Lathonia, GA; daughters, JoAnn (Martin) Johnson of Sykesville, MD, Ella Ruth (Ransom) Adams of Anderson, SC, Jannie (Willie) Hill of Simpsonville, SC, Sally (Herman) Boseman of Anderson, SC; brothers, Calvin "Bobby" Clinkscales, Julius Clinkscales both of Anderson, SC, Lester Clinkscales of Indianapolis, IN; L.T. Harper of Massachusetts; sisters, Eula Wansley of Elbeberton, Minnie Nance of Anderson and Martha Parks of Anderson; 28 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand.

The family is at the residence of his daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Boseman of 133 Towne Creek Trail, Anderson, SC and will receive friends from 7p.m. until 8p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Anderson.

JEWELL MANLEY

Oct. 16, 1916 - May 2, 2006

LAVONIA - Mrs. Jewell Jones Manley, 89, of 205 Bartson Street, Lavonia, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, following an extended illness.

Born October 16, 1916, in Hart County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth Morris Jones. She was a textile worker and homemaker. Mrs. Manley was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include her son: Freddie Manley and wife Joan of Lavonia; brothers: Artis Jones of Lavonia, Alton Jones of Decatur, Ray Jones of Jonesboro, and Kendall Jones of Shelby, NC; sister: Peggy Andrews of Carnesville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband: William "Buster" Manley; daughter: Glenda M. Kelly; grandson: William "Bill" Kelley.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Bishops Tyrone Hutchinson and Willard Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens - North.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday. The family will be at the home of son, Freddie Manley, 205 Bartson Street, Lavonia.

JOHN C. CURETON

CLEMSON, SC - John Charles Cureton, 78, husband of Evelyn White Cureton of 106 Mitchell Avenue, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Anderson Area Medical Center. He was a native of Pickens County and a son of the late James Henry and Bernice Robinson Cureton.

He was a Clemson-Calhoun High School graduate and attended Clemson University. He was an Army veteran and was manager at the Clemson University Bookstore for 34 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven Cureton of Pendleton; two daughters, Lee. C. Wylie and husband, Keith, of North Charleston and Christie C. Ackerman and husband, Carl, of Clemson; two brothers, Al Cureton and wife, Beverly, of Central and Robert Cureton and wife, Betsy, of Greenwood; two sisters, Helen Smith of Sullivan's Island and Lydia Smith of Bennettsville; and grandchildren: Justin, Matthew, Ann-Catherine and Frances Wylie and April Ackerman.

He was predeceased by his brother, James Henry Cureton, Jr.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens. The family will receive friends Friday, May 5, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

KATHLEEN B. WRIGHT

June 8, 1912 - May 3, 2006

ANDERSON - Mary Kathleen Bridgeman Wright, 93, of 508 Mary St., and widow of Clarence C. Wright, went home to be with her Lord, May 3, 2006 at the Hospice House.

Born June 8, 1912 in Piedmont, SC she was the daughter of the late W.M. and Carra Paxton Bridgeman. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Carra Smith and husband Johnny of the home; granddaughter, Sherry Smith and her husband Glenn; and great granddaughter, Lauren Smith all of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold A. Bridgeman.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday at Old Silver Brook Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Rex Simmons. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family is at their respective homes.

MR. DANIEL 'POP' HUNTER

Jan. 7, 1933 - May 3, 2006

IVA, SC - Mr. Daniel Webster Hunter, Sr., 73, husband of Mary Smith Hunter of 360 Liberty Road, Iva, SC, died Wednesday, May 03, 2006 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.

Born in Bainbridge, GA on January 7, 1933, Mr. Hunter was a son of the late Walter Henry Hunter and Annie Lucille Askew Hunter. He retired from Chloride Battery Corporation in Tampa, FL and moved to Anderson in 1997. He served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith Hunter of the home; sons, Daniel Hunter, Jr., and his wife, Lisa of Iva, SC and David Hunter and his wife, Jean of Stockbridge, GA; daughters, Billiejo Hunter of the home, Stacey Hunter and her husband, Jim of Anderson and Dannell Hunter of Germany; brother, Rufus Hunter of Plant City, FL; sister, Lula Mae H. Tucker of Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Morris, Tom and Pete Hunter.

There will be a family visitation Friday, May 5, 2006 at 11:00 am at The McDougald Funeral Home.

ANDERSON, SC - Mrs. Nellie Elouise Martin Boggs, age 98, formerly of Phillips Street, Anderson, SC and wife of the late Saratus Arlington Boggs, died Tuesday, May 02, 2006 at Riverside Health Care in Covington, GA.

Born in Bowersville, GA on December 5, 1907, Mrs. Boggs was the daughter of the late Jess Rutledge Martin and Lizzie Beth Adams Martin. Upon graduation of high school, she attended Business School in Washington, DC and married her husband, Saratus Boggs on July 12, 1931. She was a homemaker and seamstress and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Ret. Sgt. Major Harold Eugene Boggs of Melrose, FL, Ralph Lewis Boggs and his wife, Betty of Fair Play, SC and Jessie Arlington Boggs, and his wife, Carolyn of Dallas, GA; daughter, Julia Ann Boggs Sticher and her husband, Richard of Covington, GA; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rufus Milton Boggs.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Brent Armstrong. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 4, 2006 from 6-8 pm.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Genia Groves, 105 Concord Circle, Anderson, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 304 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.

May 30, 1918 - May 3, 2006

BELTON, SC - Ozella Ruth Poole Chapman, 87, of 301 Lickville Road, beloved wife and widow of Dr. John B. Chapman, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Ozella Rose Stone and Joseph Edward Poole. She was a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald and Eleanor Chapman of Belton, Joe and Wanda Chapman of Piedmont; daughter, Linda G. Richey of Honea Path; seven grandchildren, Deborah Matteson, Ed Chapman, Chris Chapman, Robby Richey, Chad Richey, Heather Seawright, Joey Chapman; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Will, Jacob and Scarlett Matteson, Ryan and Amber Chapman, Kristina, Jared and Ruthie Chapman, Clayton Chapman, Dustin and Callie Richey, Will and Angellia Seawright.

She was predeceased by a son, Johnny E. Chapman.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Burton, Dr. Glenn Taylor, and the Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family members are at the home of a grandson, Ed Chapman, 301 Lickville Road, Belton and will receive friends 6-7:30 pm Thursday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

ROBERT L. 'BOBBY' WILLIAMS

PENDLETON - Robert Leroy "Bobby" Williams, 75, of 1116 Autun Road, husband of Alice Corrine Hill Williams, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Hospice House.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. The family is at the residence.

Walter P. Gravely Jr.

ANDERSON - Walter P. Gravely, Jr., of 1111 Southern Acres, husband of Dorothy Glymph Gravely, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Hospice House.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel.

ADDIE LOU SCOTT

Sept. 15, 1914 - June 16, 2006

BELTON, SC - Addie Lou Creamer Scott, 91, widow of Frank Scott, formerly of Dunlap Road, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Ellenburg Nursing Center in Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late George Washington and Cora Lou Rogers Creamer. She was a homemaker and baby sitter. She was also the oldest living member of Big Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU and Fidelis Sunday School Class.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are sons, Otis Scott of Williamston, Kenneth Scott of Pelzer; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three daughters; two sons; five sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday at Big Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitch Gambrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family members are at their respective homes and will receive friends 2-3 pm Sunday at the church prior to services.

Gray Mortuary, Pelzer is in charge of arrangements.

ARLINE WILES

IVA, SC - Arline Wiles, 95, of Iva died Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was born in Anderson County to the late Daniel E. and Essie Campbell Wiles.

Ms. Wiles was a life long member of Union Baptist Church in Iva.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ralph and Clem Wiles.

Surviving Ms. Wiles is her son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Ellen Wiles of Iva; a brother, Harold Wiles of Elberton, GA; a sister, Mary Hill of Iva; a granddaughter and her husband, Cheryl and Phil Gosnell; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM (TODAY) Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Union Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00PM in the church with the Rev. Ray Hansel and Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

COLUMBIA, SC - Eugene Gilliard of Columbia, SC, formerly of 2006 Oliver St., Anderson, SC, passed away on June 14, 2006, in Columbia, SC

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Irene Gilliard.

He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board. He was a member of Anderson Masonic Lodge 207.

He is survived by his wife, Ester Bell Harrison Gilliard formerly of Anderson; daughters, Mary Brailey of Columbia and Gloria J. Forbes (Joseph) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Tracy L. Brailey, Baltimore, MD and LaToya S. Forbes, Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 3:00PM at the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of the Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home.
