EILEEN G. BLOMENKAMP

Eileen G. Blomenkamp, nee Wittling, 79, of Freeburg, Ill., born Oct. 8, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Blomenkamp retired as a secretary from Scott Air Force Base, Ill. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill. She was very active in both the church and the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman E. Blomenkamp, whom she married July 19, 1947, and who died Jan. 12, 1992; her father, Frank Wittling; and her mother, Gertrude (nee DeLonjay) Mertens.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas M. (Elsie) Blomenkamp, Gregg S. (Teresa M.) Blomenkamp and John Scott (Patty) Blomenkamp; three daughters, Anne C. (Mark) Ecker, Karen M. Blomenkamp and Joan E. Blomenkamp, all of Freeburg, Ill.; two sisters, Jacqueline (Vincent) Tosto of St. Peters, Mo., and Sharon (Dwight) Mikkelson of Louisville, Texas; a sister-in-law, Verna Moore of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Brenda, Michael, Gregory, Bryan, Ryan, Breanne, Katie and Emilie; and five great - grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, Ill.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill., with Msgr. Ted Baumann officiating.

Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.

GRACE CLEMENTINE GRAYBEAL RAUHOF

Mrs. Grace Clementine Graybeal Rauhof, age 105, 2012 Sherwood Dr., Johnson City, died Thursday, November 20, 2003, in the Appalachian Christian Village.

Mrs. Rauhof was a native West Jefferson in Ashe County, NC, and had been a resident of Washington County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late William Baxter and Maggie Jane Austin Graybeal.

She received a B.S. degree in Education from Carson Newman College and did graduate work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Appalachian State University, NC, and East Tennessee State University.

Mrs. Rauhof was an educator for 49 years and had served as a guidance counselor, english teacher and latin teacher in Rogersville, Johnson City, Boone, and Washington College Academy. She retired from the Washington County School System. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Tennessee Retired Teachers Association and the Washington County Retired Teacher's Association.

Mrs. Rauhof was a member of the American Classical Society of Latin Teachers.

She was a member and former elder of Salem Presbyterian Church, Limestone. Mrs. Rauhof was also a member of the choir and Women's Church Organization as well as a former Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rauhof was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce C. Rauhof; one step - daughter, Virginia Rauhof Powers; three brothers, Roger Graybeal, Fred "Dooley" Graybeal and Austin Graybeal; and four sisters, Vanessa Graybeal, Mamie Shull Graybeal, Lucy Graybeal Lovill and Ruby Graybeal Norris.

Survivors include one brother, Frank Graybeal, Sumpter, SC; one sister, Pearl Farthing, Boone, NC; three grandchildren, Dolores Powers Fredericks, Johnson City, William A. Powers, El Paso, TX, and Michael Bruce Powers, Richmond, VA; ten great - grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great - nieces and great - nephews; two great - great - grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rauhof will be conducted Sunday, November 23, 2003, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Salem Presbyterian Church, Limestone, with Rev. Brian Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Presbyterian Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Salem Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church 147 Washington College Rd., Limestone,TN 37681.

AGNES L. PRUESSING

ALEXIS, Ill. - Agnes L. Pruessing, 80, of Sumter, formerly of Galesburg, Ill., died at 3 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at her home.

She was born Feb. 21, 1923, in North Henderson, Ill., the daughter of George and Cecil (Bair) Gordon. She was reared and educated in North Henderson, attending school in Alpha and Alexis. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1941.

Agnes married Charles "Speed" Pruessing in Coal Valley, Ill., on Oct. 27, 1945, and he died Feb. 2, 2002.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and bowling.

Agnes was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Ill.

Surviving are her daughter, Sue Ann (Marvin) Fuller of Sumter; two grandsons, Gregory (Vicki) Fuller and Robert Fuller, both of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Joan (Robert) Hunt of Galesburg, Ill., and Barbara (Ward) Roseberry of Galesburg; and one brother, Ron Gordon of Bloomfield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Tom Gordon and Don Gordon.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the North Henderson United Methodist Church in North Henderson, Ill., with the Rev. Delores DeArmond officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery, North Henderson.

Friends may call Saturday at the North Henderson United Methodist Church where her family will be present from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorials may be given to the North Henderson United Methodist Church.

Hoover - Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, is in charge of the arrangements.

Bullock Funeral Home and Crematorium is in charge of local arrangements.

DERRY L. STOCKBRIDGE Jr.

Derry Lamar Stockbridge Jr., age 82, beloved grandfather of Jason and Anna Stockbridge, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Savannah, Ga.

Born in Griffin, Ga., he was the son of Derry Lamar Stockbridge Sr. and Olive Mattox Stockbridge.

Mr. Stockbridge was a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He worked as a chemical engineer, principally for Kaiser Agricultural. A member of the American Chemical Society, he held regional office in the ACS. He was a member of the Society of Colonial Wars and served as a board member at Baptist Village, Waycross, Ga. He was an active member of the Fourth Marine Division Alumni. Mr. Stockbridge was recently honored for his volunteer service at Candler Hospital.

His military career included service in World War II in the United States Navy, attached to the Fourth Marine Division. He saw action at Iwo Jima, Saipan and the Marshall Islands.

Mr. Stockbridge was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church in Savannah, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday.

Private interment will be at Elmhurst cemetery, Elberton, Ga.

Mr. Stockbridge was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Bragg Stockbridge; and his son, John McLeod Stockbridge.

Survivors include his grandson, Jason Mattox Stockbridge, and his granddaughter, Anna Lamar Stockbridge, both of Sumter.

Local memorials include the Sumter County Museum Heritage Education Center and the Sumter County Friends of the Library.

ROSE A. WORKMAN

Rose Abbott Workman, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late John Forrest Workman and Bonnie Anderson Workman.

Ms. Workman was a lifelong member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities. She was a charter member of the Altrusa Club and was retired from Korn Industries as vice president and treasurer after 47 years of service.

Surviving are one sister, Sarah W. Van Dalen of Charleston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances W. Murray and Bonnie A. Workman.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall at St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150.

RUBY C. BAKER

MANNING – Ruby Cantey Baker, 86, widow of Joseph Fletcher Baker, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Born April 20, 1917, in New Zion, she was a daughter of the late David Christopher Cantey and the late Janie Baker Cantey. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Joanne Baker Thompson of Kingstree, Jeri (Leroy) Phillips of Manning, and Angie (James III) Bland of Mayesville; a son, Dr. Fletcher Keels (Laura) Baker of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Ruth C. Johnson of Manning; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Vernon United Methodist Church near Kingstree, with the Rev. Gary Adams, the Rev. Dr. Paul Sullivan, and the Rev. Joseph A. Poston officiating. Entombment will follow in Mount Vernon UMC cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bo Phillips, Shawn Phillips, Ki Thompson, Chris Thompson, Jay Bland, Steve Lowman, Michael Lane and Robbie Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 1159 Seminole Drive, Manning.

Memorials may be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Tommy Dukes, 2340 Manning Highway, Greeleyville, SC 29056, or to a charity of one's choice.

W.R. GRAY

MANNING – William Ralph Gray, 80, husband of Rebecca Holladay Gray, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born Feb. 20, 1923, in Bennettsville, he was a son of the late Luther and Beulah Gray Gray. He was a retired general contractor, a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, and a member of Union United Methodist Church in Wilson.

Surviving are his wife of Manning; a son, Jack (Judy) Gray of Greeleyville; a daughter, Kanda G. (Raymond) Brunson of Greenwood; a sister, Jincy Green of Clio; one granddaughter; three grandsons.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday in Wilson Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Poston officiating, assisted by the Rev. Miriam Hadden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Holladay, Kelly Cannon, Lionel Marion Holladay Jr., John Igo, Charles Barrett and Bert Holladay.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

BURNIE DEASE

Burnie Dease, 84, widower of Mattie Mae Harris - Dease, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Houston Dease and Estell Delay Dease.

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a member of Catchall Lodge No. 425, CC Johnson Consisory No. 136 and Cario Temple No. 125. He was a World War II veteran. He was employed by Santee Print Corp., where he retired in 1971 after more than 30 years of service.

Survivors include a son, Matthew Dease; a granddaughter, Penny Dease - Wright; three great - grandchildren, Joi, Dove and Grayson Wright, all of Houston; and a very special friend, Mrs. Rosa Nathaniel of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and his only daughter, Burnice Dease - Nelson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Joshua Baptist Church in Dalzell, the Rev. Eugene G. Dennis, pastor, officiating, assisted by Minister Janette Jenkins and Minister R.L. Williams.

The casket will be placed in the church 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery in Rembert.

Pallbearers will be Catchall Lodge No. 425.

Honorary pallbearers will be trustees.

Floral bearers will be trustee wives and missionary.

The funeral procession will leave 1:15 p.m. from the home of Mrs. Rosa Nathaniel, 26 Friendship Apartment in Sumter.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Rosa Nathaniel.

Williams Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
