AGNES B. BURNS

Agnes Bryant Burns, age 76, beloved wife of 58 years to Samuel Sidney Burns Sr., died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at her residence in Sumter.

Mrs. Burns was born in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of the late Fred Bryant and Rena Frierson Bryant Burns. She graduated from Greeleyville High School as salutatorian. She was a member of the Bethesda Church of God, the "Voices of Praise" church choir, the "Prime Timers" Sunday School class, the Ladies Ministries and involved in World Missions.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Sumter are two sons, Sam S. Burns Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Lexington and Richard H. Burns and his wife, Irene, of Sumter; three daughters, Jane B. Tidwell of Columbia, Emma B. Hawthorne and her husband, James, and Judy B. Hice, all of Sumter; two brothers, Richard Bryant and Thomas Bryant; one sister, Linda Faye Burns, all of Cayce; 17 grandchildren, Robin Burns, Richard Burns, Shanett Cole, Pamela Tidwell, Christina Burns, Aprile Tidwell, Charles Hice, Sammie Burns, Elizabeth Hice, Sierra Burns, Sam Hawthorne, Len Hawthorne, Jerin Hawthorne, Brianne Hawthorne, Heather Garza, Ashley Garza, and Christal Garza; and two great - grandchildren, Laten Turner and Stephanie Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert Burns and David Thomas Burns; and two sisters, Ruby Callahan and Ellen Bellamy.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. Albert Simms, the Rev. Howard Owens and Youth Pastor Neil DuBose officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry Martin, Kenneth Martin, Leroy Martin, Leonard Harrington, Larry Harrington, Mike Bryant, Paul Bryant and Lynn Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers will be the "Prime Timers" Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the daughter's residence on Twelve Bridges Road in Sumter.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home to handle the arrangements.

BOBBY R. QUICK

Bobby Ray Quick, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 06, 2003, at Dorn VA Medical Center.

Born in Rockingham, N.C., he was a son of the late Monroe Quick and the late Lula Hewitt Quick of Cheraw.

He was a paint contractor and the owner of Quick's Construction. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the DAV.

Surviving are his companion of 30 years, Florence S. Griffin of Sumter; three daughters, Debbie (Garrett) Morris, Tammy (Jim) Carter, and Amanda Quick, all of Cheraw; five granddaughters, Brook Morris, Misty Riggan and Amber Quick, all of Cheraw, and Stephanie Griffin and Jennifer Griffin, both of Sumter; three grandsons, Andrew Morris, Brandon Morris and Jacob Quick, all of Cheraw; two great - grandchildren, Jeffrey Riggan and Kalab Riggan, both of Cheraw; a brother, Tilman Quick of Patrick; two sisters, Lula Mae Polson and Faye McLain, both of Cheraw; and a dear friend, George Griffin of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Roscoe and Catherine Chavis; and a brother, L.C. Quick.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Elmore - Cannon - Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Driggers officiating.

Burial will be in the Chatham Hill Memorial Garden in Cheraw.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Cox, Junior Geddings, Steve Dewitt, Andrew Morris, Brandon Morris and Jacob Quick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Les Riggan and Adam Watford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore - Cannon - Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Elmore - Cannon - Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

WARREN DIBBLE EVANS

GEORGETOWN - Warren Dibble Evans, 79, died Nov. 7, 2003, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born in Sumter on Nov. 24, 1923, he was a son of the late John Linwood Evans and Mildred "Nan" Boone Evans.

Graveside memorial services will be Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at Old Sumter cemetery in Sumter.

The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Monday morning, Nov. 10, 2003, from 10 to 11 a.m.

The family suggests memorials to: National Brain Tumor Association, 414 13th St., Suite 700, Oakland, Ca. 94612 - 2603.

BISHOP HERMAN E. REMBERT Jr.

Bishop Herman E. Rembert Jr., 53, husband of Mary Sue DeLeon Rembert, died Nov. 6, 2003, at Tuomey Health Care System.

Born Aug. 24, 1904, in Sumter, he was a son of Herman Rembert Sr. and Elizabeth Vaughn Rembert.

Herman attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Ebenezer High School in 1968. He furthered his education at South Carolina State College, Orangeburg. He served a tour of duty in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined Shepherd United Methodist Church. Later, he joined St. Paul Holiness Church and then pastored at Greater Zion S.O.P. Then until, present, he served as the pastor and founder of Oasis Praise and Worship Center Ministries.

Survivors include: two stepsons, Samuel Law and Marcus Blyther; three daughter, Nephenia Gordon, Ashanti Rembert and Shuvona Spann; two stepdaughters, Mechelle Thopson and Jamie Chandler; a brother Kelvin Rembert; three sisters, Brenda Rembert, Nevetta Rembert and Patricia Rembert - Scott; a mother-in-law Hattie DeLeon; a grandchild; seven stepgrandchildren; one special son, Charlie Green; and one special nephew, Thabiti Scott.

The remains wil be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, from Oasis Praise Worship Church, 47 Jonathan St., Sumter.

Officiating ministers will be Apostle Keith Jordan, assisted by Assoc. Pastor James Drayton Jr., Dr. L. Flood, Rev. James Mack, Elder Chris Thompson, Evangelist Lizzie Johnson, Apostle L. Durant and Pastor E. Woods.

Burial will be in White's cemetery, Sumter.

Pallbearers will be Ebenezer High School Class of 1968.

Floral bearers will be Ebenezer High School Class of 1968.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:20 p.m. from his home, 640 W. Liberty St.

The family will receive friends at his home, 640 W. Liberty St.

Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MABLE M. BURROUGHS

Mable M. Burroughs, of 306 W. Bartlette St., died No. 7, 2003, at the Marcelus Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, N.J.

Services are incomplete and will be announced by Job's Mortuary.

BARBARA JO' BURGESS

LAKE CITY - Barbara Jo' Burgess, 55, wife of John Walter Burgess, died at the home 749 Old - McAllister Road in Lake City.

She was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Lake City. Immediate family members include her husband and stepmother, Pearlie Ann Graham of Lake City.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 749 Old McAllister Mill Road, Lake City.

Service will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.

QUEEN "TOOTSIE" WRIGHT

Queen "Tootsie" Wright, 62, wife of the late Daniel Wright, died Nov. 7, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born July 7, 1941, in Orangeburg County, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. King and Charlotte King.

The family will receive friends at the home 510 Knightbridge Road.

Services will be announced by Sumter Funeral Service.

AARON D. BARNETT Sr.

Aaron D. Barnett Sr., 67, husband of Minnie Barnett, died Nov. 7, 2003, at the home, 160 Praylou Road in Wedgefield.

Born July 2, 1936, in Athens, Ga., he was a son of the late Mireasie Johnson Barnett and Rezell Barnett.

The family will receive friends at the home, 160 Praylou Road in Wedgefield.

Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel, Sumter.

ADAM HARVIN

Adam Harvin died Nov. 8, 2003, at Mariner Health.

He was a son of the late Proctor Harvin and Annie Leonard Harvin.

The family will receive friends at the home of Deacon Robert and Rebecca Burgess, 8 E. Patricia Drive.

Services will be announced by Sumter Funeral Service.

NELL DUKE WILLIAMS

Nell Duke Williams, widow of T.D. Williams Jr., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 at Covenant Place in Sumter.

Born in Kingstree, she was the daughter of the late John Milton Duke and the late Erline McIntosh Duke.

Mrs. Williams was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, member of the choir and Presbyterian Women. She was a former member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in McColl. Mrs. Williams graduated summa cum laude from Columbia College and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught English in Georgetown, Myrtle Beach and Marlboro County. She served on the Board of Visitors for Presbyterian College and volunteered at Tuomey Regional Medical Center and the Sumter Gallery of Art.

Surviving are a son, Dr. T.D. "Ted" Williams III and his wife Debby of Sumter; a daughter, Nell "Dee" Williams Dailey and her husband Dr. James "Dee" of Sumter; three brothers, Lynwood Duke of Newport Ritchie, Fla., Raymond Duke of Surfside, A.C. Duke of Kingstree; two sisters, Elenor Duke Avant of Columbia and Barabara Duke McCutcheon of Kingstree; a sister-in-law, Jane Beasley Duke of Bishopville; a brother-in-law, James O. Williams of West Columbia; four grandchildren, T.D. "Tod" Williams IV, Montgomery Williams, McBride "Macky" Dailey and James D. "Jay" Dailey III.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson Duke and John Milton Duke.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Ed McLeod officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sumter cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin McCutcheon, Kip Duke, David Avant, Thomas Duke, Eddie McCutcheon and Barry Avant.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Elmore - Hill - McCreight Funeral Home and other time at the home of her son, 2897 Porcher Drive.

Memorials may be made to T.D. and Nell Williams Scholarship Fund, College of Pharmacy, USC, Columbia; First Presbyterian Church or Wilson Hall.

Elmore - Hill - McCreight Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

HAZEL BOYLE

SWANNANOA, N.C. - On Nov. 9, Mr. Hazel Boyle became absent from the body and present with the Lord. He was 84 years old. He was a lifelong resident of Sumter but had spent the last seven months at the home of his son in Swannanoa.

He was a veteran of the U.S. military, having served with the U.S. Army in World War II and during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Open Bible Baptist Church, where he had previously served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He was truly faithful unto death.

Mr. Boyle was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Phillips Boyle, who went home in 1993.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Boyle and his wife, Rhonda, of West Columbia and Bryan P. Boyle and his wife, Vickie, of Swannanoa. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Joel and Rachel Boyle of Swannanoa.

Services for Mr. Boyle will be at the Open Bible Baptist Church on Old Manning Road. Service time will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The family will receive friends immediately afterward. Burial will be at the Sumter cemetery.

Pastor Larry Hummel, Brother Joel Boyle and Pastor B.P. Boyle will officiate.

Mr. Boyle specifically requested that no flowers be sent, but that all memorials should go to the Open Bible Baptist Church mission fund.

These past seven months, he truly exhibited a testimony of God's grace and showed us all that God's people die well.

Brigman's Funeral Home of Black Mountain, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
