LIONEL M. DANEY

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Lionel Myron Daney, 40, of 5220 Firelight Lane, Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Carolinas Hospital, Charlotte.

Born May 24, 1963, in Manning, he was a son of Lionel Daney Jr. and Annette Colclough Edwards and stepson of David L. Edwards.

The family will receive friends at the home of his grandfather, Harry S. Colclough Sr. and mother, Annette C. Edwards, 1781 Goward Road, Alcolu.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

PATSY M. FRYE

Patsy Edell McCoy Frye, 55, widow of Ted Levell Frye Sr., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Leon R. McCoy and the late Nancy Ann McCoy Freeman.

Mrs. Frye was a member of Christian Tabernacle Church.

Surviving are two sons, Ted Levell Frye Jr. and Robert Perry Frye, both of Sumter; a daughter, Nancy Louise Parker of Sumter; four brothers, Glenn McCoy, Melvin McCoy, Tim McCoy and Leon McCoy, all of Sumter; a sister, Myrtle Ann Gibbons of Turbeville; five grandchildren, Ashley Renee Parker, Whitney Kayla Frye, Christopher Dean Parker, Bradley Dalton Frye and Dustin Perry Frye.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Clifton McCoy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore - Hill - McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Andrew Van Allen, the Rev. Bobby Driggers and the Rev. Gerald Starnes officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore - Hill - McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, 3661 Susan St.

Memorials may be made to Christian Tabernacle Church, 3018 U.S. 15 South, Sumter, SC 29150.

Elmore - Hill - McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

VERNICE WILSON TONEY

Vernice Wilson Toney, 40, wife of Anthony Toney, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born May 29, 1963, in Lee County, she was the daughter of Earnest and Cornell Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the home of her mother 198 Joe Atkinson Road in Mayesville.

Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CAMARION EMANUEL STILLWELL

FLORENCE - The infant Camarion Emanuel Stillwell was born and died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at McLeod Women's Pavilion in Florence.

He was the son of Carl L. Stillwell Jr. and Betty Brayboy Stillwell.

The family will receive friends at the home 2286 Pope St. in Turbeville.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home of Manning.

EVELYN DINGLE GIBSON

MANNING - Evelyn Dingle Gibson, 73, wife of Emanuel Gibson, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born April 17, 1930, in the White Oak #1 "Pearsontown" section of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Washington Dingle and Victoria Pearson Dingle and reared by her grandmother, the late Liza Pearson.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. Being reared in a Christian home, she sought the need of a personal savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus and joined Laurel Hill A.M.E. Church. She later became a member of Triumph The Church Kingdom of God of Christ where she served faithfully until her health failed.

Survivors include her husband Emanuel Gibson of the home; four sons, James (Sarah) Gibson of Manning, Albert Gibson, Minister Lee Samuel (Valerie) Gibson, Milton (Julia) Gibson, all of Columbia; four daughters, Eva Gibson of the home, Julia Ann (Minister Steve) Munns, Artril Enwere, both of Fayetteville, Julia (Pastor Joe) Ellison of Columbia; a brother, the Rev. Washington (Sudie) Dingle of Manning; three sisters, Pauline Walker, Viola Pearson, both of Manning, Hattie Jenkins of Beaufort; 21 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.

The deceased was preceded in death by a daughter Lucinda.

The remains will be place in Triumph The Church Kingdom of God of Christ in the Davis Station Community of Clarendon County at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.

Service will follow at 2 p.m. with Elder Sampson Pearson, Pastor officiating, assisted by Elder Abraham Gibson, Pastor Joe Ellison and the Rev. Ronnie Brown.

Burial will be in Carolina Johnson cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence 1237 Palms Spring Road in Davis Station.

Samuels Funeral Home of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

HOPPIE SKEENS

Hoppie Skeens, husband of Audrey Skeens, died Saturday, Nov. 15 at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Services are incomplete and will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc.

MARY HELEN S. DODSON

BATON ROUGE, La. - John Wesley said, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." Helen was "Mrs. Clean" until Alzheimer's disease ravaged her mind and body.

She was born Feb. 28, 1912, and died on Nov. 16, 2003. Her parents were William H. "Pete" Steele and Crissie Keaton Steele. She graduated from Powell High School, Powell, Tenn., in 1929 and continued her education with a business course. She worked many years as a secretary with the last 24 years of her career being with TVA in Chattanooga, Tenn., in the traffic division. She moved to Baton Rouge in 1994 to be close to her caretaker and always longed to return to her native state of Tennessee.

Her ashes will be interred at a future date at Bookwalter cemetery, Knoxville, Tenn.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy B. O'Hara of Sumter and Carolynn B. Ensminger and her husband, Jack, of Baton Rouge. She has five granddaughters, Robin E. Barber and her husband, Dave, of Albuquerque, N.M., Katherine O'Hara of Nashville, Tenn., Teresa O'Hara of Wedgefield, Angela O. Dukes and her husband, Glenn, of Auburn, Ga., and Rachel E. Seymour and her husband, Chris, of Lake Jackson, Texas. She has five great - grands, her namesake, Helen Marie Barber, Toby and Maggie Dukes, and Andy and Alex Seymour. She is also survived by a sister, Lois S. Webb of Lake Wales, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Bonds in 1938, and her second husband, Carl T. Dodson in 1955; her stepmother, Marie Otto Steele; her sister, Ruth S. Roberts; her brothers, Robert and Claude Steele; and a grandson, Patrick O'Hara.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 5215 Essen Lane, Suite 10, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, or Bookwalter United Methodist Church, 4218 Central Ave. Pike, Knoxville, TN 37912.

MIKE J. SCIALABBA

LANCASTER, Pa. - Mike J. Scialabba, 73, of 162 Colonial Crest Drive, Lancaster, Pa., formerly of Huntingdon, Pa., and Sumter, S.C., died Thursday at Lancaster Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Scialabba retired as personnel manager at Elco Corp. He previously worked 25 years at Huston Motor Co. and at Prismo Co., both of Huntingdon. He moved in April from Sumter to be closer to his children. A Catholic, he attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lancaster, Pa.

Scialabba graduated in 1948 from Huntingdon High School and attended Juniata College. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and served in Germany during the Korean War. A member of Huntingdon Rotary Club, Scialabba was a former member of the Huntingdon school board and served as mayor of Huntingdon Borough from 1988 to 1992.

He received a heart transplant at Hershey Medical Center and was the longest survivor of a transplant from the hospital, living for 18 years after the operation.

Born in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Michael and Nardina Capizzi Scialabba.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah S. Martin of Lancaster and Susan S., married to Harry Price, of Chester, Va.; a son, David Scialabba of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Keely, Kiel and Jordan. He is also survived by two sisters, Pauline Scialabba Mills of Mount Union and Patricia Scialabba Marshall of Bethlehem, Pa.; and a brother, Richard W. Scialabba of Huntingdon.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon, Pa., on Dec. 5 at 1 p.m., with the Father David Arseneault as Celebrant. Private Commendation and Farewell will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon on Dec. 5 from noon until the time of service.

CHRISTINE S. REMBERT

Ms. Christine Smith Rembert, daughter of the late James and Emmaline Smith, departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 6, 1935, in St. Louis.

She attended the public schools of Laurel, Miss. She later moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she met Mr. Edgar "Buster" Rembert. The two fell in love and began a lifelong relationship for 33 years. They relocated to Elliott in 1978.

Ms. Rembert was a devoted member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Elliott, where she served as president of the adult choir, a member of the missionary board, a Sunday school teacher for many years and director of the church's recreational activities. She was also an active member of Lee County Council on Aging Adolescent Teen Pregnancy Committee and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar "Buster" Rembert, and two daughters, Pamela and Emma.

Ms. Rembert leaves to cherish loving memories four sons, Johnny (Alfreda) Tatum and Tyrue (Emma) Rembert, both of Charlotte, N.C., Jerry Tatum and James Tatum, both of Columbus, Ohio; one adopted daughter, Matoya Aiken of California; two sisters, Eliza J. Campbell of Laurel and Luella Taylor of New Orleans, La.; one brother, Roosevelt Smith of Columbus, Ohio; a devoted brother-in-law, Thomas Rembert of Elliott; 11 grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; a devoted lifetime friend, Hilda Butler of Augusta, Ga.; and two dear and close friends, Theodore Ray and Ruthie Pearson, both of Elliott.

Visitation was held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The remains will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elliott. Burial will be in the St. Paul Wisacky cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 523 Bradley Road in Elliott.

Wilson's Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Bishopville, is in charge of arrangements.

JEFFERY D. GREER

WEDGEFIELD - Jeffery Darrin Greer, age 39, died on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Mr. Greer was born in Paintsville, Ky., the son of Bobby Gene Greer Sr. and Rose Mary Wallen Geerer.

Surviving in addition to his parents are six brothers, Bobby Gene Greer Jr. of Beckley, W.Va., Michael Anthony Greer of Wedgefield, Richard Dean Greer of Hudson, N.C., Barry Joseph Greer of Ft. Meade, Fla., Hollie Dewayne Greer of Columbia and Donald Scott Mullins of Pinewood; and one sister, Shawnda Shel Greer Whitney of Charleston.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services of S.C., P.O. Box 11705, Columbia, SC 29211 - 1705.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home and Crematorium to handle the arrangements.
