Mr. Skinner died Friday, July 25, 2003. Born in Lee Co., SC, he was a son of the late Fred and Evelyn Smith Skinner. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, a graduate of the Citadel, veteran of WWII, and retired as a contractor.

Surviving are his wife, Paulette Gray Skinner of Hartsville, SC; sons, Tommy A. Skinner of Hartsville, SC, Fred G. Skinner of Hartsville, SC; daughters, Tammie D. Moore of Lamar, SC, Ellen S. Mrs. Barnett, widow of William “Bill” Barnett, died Friday, July 25, 2003. Born in Lee Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late Liston B. and Lissie Grantham Best. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Hartsville Manufacturing.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Judy Beasley of Hartsville, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Delores Best of Hartsville, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Edward Porter of Sumter, SC; step - daughters, Lillie Ann Stewart of Lexington, SC, Brenda Floyd of Rock Hill, SC: granddaughter and spouse, Selena and Robbie Mooring; great - granddaughter, Kathryn "Bailee" Mooring. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Best and Marshall Best, and her sister, Elizabeth B. Gaskins.

Mrs. Johnson worked for Hartsville Cotton Mill for 17 years. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist church Building Fund.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints. He was a U. S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, and was retired from the Job Corps.

Mr. Gardner died Thursday, November 27, 2003. Born in Lee Co., SC, he was a son of the late Foster E. and Ruby Josey Gardner. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Bethune Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Mines died Friday, November 28, 2003. Born in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., he was a son of the late Herman and Genevieve Mines. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was retired from the Millwright department at Sonoco Products Company and was a member of the Old Timers Club. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He played the piano at Morningside Assisted Living, Morrell Nursing Home and the Carriage House.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Weaver Mines of Hartsville, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Judy Mines of Hartsville, SC, Joey and Betty Mines of LaGrange, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne and Mike Griggs of Columbia, SC; sister, Mae Costello of St. Louis, Mo; grandchildren, Kayce Mines, Jennifer Schulze, Jamie Goodson, Meredith Mines and Will Mines. He was predeceased by his brothers, Herman Mines and Roy Mines, and sister, Grace Fuerer.

Mrs. Cowick, widow of Monroe H. “Curly” Cowick, died Thursday, April 1, 2004. Born in Florence Co., SC, she was a daughter of the late John Lawrence and Ozela Isgett Rotan. She was a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sisters and brother-in-law, Isla Mae R. Cooke of Scranton, SC, Carolyn R. and Larry Godfrey of Florence, SC; brother, George E. and Inez Rotan of Florence, SC. She was preceded in death by her sons, Richard Kent Cowick and Morral H. Cowick, and her brother, Lawton Rotan.

Mrs. Parker, widow of Manning E. Parker, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Born in Lynchburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Payton and Love Boykin Plummer. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethune where she was active throughout her lifetime. She was also a member of the Bethune Woman's Club.

Surviving are her daughter, Eugenia Parker Sowell of Bethune, SC; sisters and brother-in-law, Minnie and John Cordray of Charleston, SC, Cleta Scarborough of Lynchburg, SC; grandchildren, Dianne Sowell McCaskill, Joseph P. Sowell, Jr., Kim Parker Anderson, Mark E. Parker; six great grandchildren; five great - great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Emily Parker. She was preceded in death by her son, Marion E. Parker.
