MARTA K. ANDERSON

DALZELL -- Marta Anna Emma Kapitein Anderson, 92, widow of Karl R. Anderson, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at a local nursing center.

Born in Luttringhausen-Beyenburg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Anton Kapitein and the late Emma Henriette Frese Kapitein. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the New Apostolic Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sonja K. Floyd of Dalzell; two grandchildren, Rocky W. Floyd and Donna M. Campbell; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

MARY ELLEN P. ENGLISH

BISHOPVILLE -- Funeral services for Mary Ellen Pugh English, widow of Rescoe Leland English, who died Jan. 9, 2004, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist Church in Bishopville. Burial will be in the Piedmont cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. English was born in Newberry County, the daughter of the late John Samuel and Rebecca Bedenbaugh Pugh. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bishopville for 50 years. She was a former teacher's aide with the Lee County School District.

Surviving are one son, Leland English of Greenville; one daughter, Rebecca English Mozo of Columbia; and three grandchildren, Michelle English, Marianne Mozo and Hillary Mozo.

PERCY C. WILDER

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Percy C. "P.C." Wilder died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Medical Hospital of Williamsburg, Va.

Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Percy Wilder Sr. and Fannie Allen Wilder.

Funeral services will be held Monday in Williamsburg, Va.

Whiting Funeral Home of Williamsburg is in charge of arrangements.

ROSA MAE A. SIMMONS

Mrs. Rosa Mae Alford Simmons, widow of the late Rev. Moses Simmons Sr., and mother of the Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Simmons Sr., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Mariner Health of Sumter West.

Born July 15, 1909, in Clio, she was a daughter of the late James and Nancy Ellen Alford.

The family will receive friends at 402 Dingle St.

Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc. of Sumter.

KAISER CHATMON

CAMDEN -- Mr. Kaiser Chatmon, 82, of 9100 Pineview Lane, Clinton, Md., passed on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Rafting Creek Baptist Church, Rembert. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Haile's Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements.

LETITIA H. DUDLEY

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Letitia Hucks Dudley, 79, of North Myrtle Beach, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1924 in Conway, a daughter of the late Sparkman and Mattie Louise Williams Hucks.

Survivors include four daughters, Katherine D. Smith of Little River, Linda G. Johnson of Myrtle Beach, Loraine D. Lambert of Conway and Vickie D. Matthews of Longs; two brothers, David S. Hucks of Conway and Collin Hucks of Aynor; two sisters, Thelma Singleton of Conway and Eloise Causey of Surfside; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Victor Lloyd Dudley; a sister, Wilma Jolly; and two grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Dudley, 1012 1st Ave. South, North Myrtle Beach.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at 1st Baptist Church Church of North Myrtle Beach. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belle Edge Sunday School Class, c/o 1st Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200 Hwy. 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. The Rev. John Gambrell will officiate.

Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.

LEROY BOYD

BISHOPVILLE -- Leroy Boyd, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, Bishopville.

The family will receive friends at 329 King Ave., Bishopville.

HALLIE'O MARIE T. WAY

MANNING -- Hallie'O Marie T. Way, 76, wife of John E. Way, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born July 7, 1927, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Butler and Hallie Stokes Tarleton.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 12049 Pinewood Highway (Paxville Highway), Manning, SC 29102.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

MARY B. FRANK

SUMMERTON -- Mary Bennett Frank, 73, widow of the late Joseph Frank, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born June 6, 1930, in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Wash Bennett Sr. and the late Daisy Johnson Bennett.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1060 Kephart Lane, Summerton.

Services will be announced by King Funeral Home of Summerton.

ELLIOTT M. ROBBINS

AIKEN -- Elliott Matthew Robbins, 52, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his residence, 201 North Gate Circle, Aiken.

Born Jan. 25, 1951, in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Matthew Robbins and Ida Worthy Robbins. He graduated from Rock Hill High School and Friendship Junior College, Rock Hill. He also attended Benedict College, Columbia.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Robbins and Elizabeth Robbins; one son, Elliott Robbins Jr.; three brothers, Worthy (Emma) Robbins Sr. of Manning, James F. Robbins of Columbia and Marion Robbins of Clover; and eight sisters, Minnie (Roosevelt) Kendrick, Doris June, Mamie Phillips, Christine Leach, Francis Williams, all of Clover, Jean Jones of Detroit, Cleophus Barnes of New York City, Mary Elizabeth Robbins of Catawba.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, with the Rev. Leroy Green, the Rev. Northern Miller and evangelist Debbie Miller.

Burial will be in St. Mark cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Worthy "Tex" and Emma Robbins, 1278 Little Star Road, Manning.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

ROY LEON MATTHEWS

Roy Leon Matthews, 69, husband of Dorothy Mae Matthews, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Born in Pineville, Ga., he was a son of the late Pat Mell Matthews Sr. and the late Bonnie May Nichelson Matthews.

He was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God Church, where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities. He was employed by Campbell Soup Co. and later retired from Gold Kist.

Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include a sister, Lucille Blackwell of Rock Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Matthews, Claude Matthews, Lanier Matthews, and Pat Mell Matthews Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Green Acres Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating.

Burial will be in the Green Acres cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Burgess Oxendine, David Collins, Linwood Collins, Larry Lynch, Larry Hill, and Kenny Collins.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Green Acres Assembly of God Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Green Acres Assembly of God Church, 537 Lewis Road, Sumter, SC 29150.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

GEORGE A. COOK

DALZELL -- George Allen Cook, 49, husband of Joyce Garrison Cook, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his home.

Born in Dalzell, he was a son of George William Cook and Betty Marsh Cook. Mr. Cook was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was employed by the city of Sumter and was affiliated with Cook's Auto Parts. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving along with his parents and wife of Dalzell are a stepson, Brian Kee of Dalzell; a brother, Carey Cook of Borden; two sisters, Sheryl Tidwell of Sumter and Susann Hallman of Dalzell; and a granddaughter, Destiny Kee of Dalzell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Pressley Morris and the Rev. Homer Hinson officiating.

Burial will be in the Providence Southern Methodist Church cemetery in Dalzell.

Pallbearers will be Paul Byrd, Gene Stokes, Charles Brotherton, Daniel Cook, Jason Hallman and William Oakley.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Providence Southern Methodist Church cemetery Fund, 5470 Live Oak Drive, Dalzell, SC 29040.
