WILLIE E. BLAIR

Willie Edward "Terry" Blair, 74, widower of Thelma Glencamp Blair, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at his home, 920 Collins St.

Born Dec. 14, 1929, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Charles and Annie Singleton Blair. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he joined Pearson Welcome Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Leroy Blair of Jacksonville, N.C., Lucious Blair of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Alexander Blair of Sumter and Kenneth Blair of Sumter; one daughter, Nancy A. Blair Brooks of Belleville, Ill.; three brothers, James H. (Bernice) Blair and Charles (Nellie) Blair, both of Sumter, and Arthur (Eunice) Blair of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight sisters, Catherine (Richard) Andrews of Hampton, Va., Martha (Julio) Rizzo and Earlene Weston, both of West Palm Beach, Fla., Sallie (James) Summers and Agnes (Travis) Caldwell, both of Columbia, Ola (Roy) Sweeney of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Bobbie (Harry) McClary of Bronx, N.Y., and Easter Lily Blair Brunson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; two daughters-in-law, Janie Blair and Mary Blair; a son-in-law, B. Eric Brooks; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Rose.

The remains will be placed in the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Willie A. Wright officiating. Burial will be in Bradford cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Floral bearers will be nieces.

The funeral procession will leave from the home, 920 Collins St., at 1:25 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, 920 Collins St.

Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

JUNIE S. FLOYD

TURBEVILLE -- Junie Strickland Floyd, 70, widow of Napoleon Ollie Floyd, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at the home of her son, Chris Floyd, 914 Wisteria Way, Sumter.

Born June 1, 1933, in Olanta, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Monroe and Ella Miles Strickland. She was formerly employed by East Clarendon Cafeteria and by Southern Methodist Day Care. She was a member of Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Miriam (Ben) Strickland of Scranton and Marie (Herbert) Mozingo of Bishopville; four sons, Charles (Jane) Strickland of Kingstree, Kenny (Elaine) Floyd of New Zion, Danny Floyd of Turbeville and Chris (Wendi) Floyd of Sumter; a sister, Wilhemina Flowers of Scranton; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Gladys Pressley of Gable.

She was preceded in death by a son, J.M. Strickland.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Legrande Taylor officiating, assisted by the Rev. Clyde Bagnal. Burial will follow in Pine Dale cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rembert Floyd, Will Brown, Ernie Strickland, Joey Strickland, Lamar Welch and Timmy Strickland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Emergency Services, Bruce Floyd, William Levone Bennett, Ralph Strickland, Van Green, Benji Strickland and Kevin Strickland.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church.

WILLIE SINGLETON

Willie Singleton, 71, husband of Louise Harrison Singleton, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at his residence, 1893 Roche Road, Sumter.

Born May 11, 1932, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Allen and Rosa James Singleton.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1893 Roche Road, Sumter 29153.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

JANNETTE McFADDEN

Jannette McFadden, 45, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at her residence, 434 Council St.

Born Nov. 7, 1958, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Sadie Evelyn Williams Boone. She was a 1977 graduate of Sumter High School and attended the University of South Carolina on a basketball scholarship.

Survivors include her companion, Johnnie Davis; four brothers, Harold (Carrie) Boone, Hillard (Rolina) Boone, Herbert (Tracey) Boone and Timothy (Gladys) McFadden, all of Sumter; two sisters, Mary Philip of Richmond, Va., and Catherine Jacobs of Sumter; and a special nephew, Rodney McFadden of Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Herbert L. Boone officiating.

Burial will be in Bradford cemetery, Sumter.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Floral bearers will be friends of the family.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the home of her mother, Sadie Evelyn Williams Boone, 316 South St., Sumter.

ISAAC J. LeGRANT

LYNCHBURG -- Mr. Isaac J. "Nathan" LeGrant, 53, departed his life on Jan. 12, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center after a period of illness. He was born in Lee County on Aug. 14, 1950, to Mattie E. Jenkins LeGrant and the late Sammie LeGrant.

Mr. LeGrant was educated in the public schools of Lee County. He was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a trustee. He was employed with Burlington Industry of Bishopville for many years.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Mattie E. LeGrant of Lynchburg; one son, Albert (Delphine) Parrott of Sumter; one daughter, Andrea Kennedy of Georgia; one brother, Sammie J. LeGrant of Lynchburg; three sisters, Deloris LeGrant of Lynchburg, Mildred (Jimmy) Mills of Lynchburg and Rochelle Jenkins of Bronx, N.Y.; seven uncles; nine aunts; two grandchildren; four nephews; two nieces; two special friends, Mrs. Gloria Durant and Mrs. Ruby Fortune; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca K. LeGrant, who was his twin, and Shelia J. Bembry.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Sammie D. Simmons as pastor.

The body will lie in state at the church at noon Saturday.

The family will leave the home of 232 LeGrand Road, Lynchburg, at 12:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Bethesday Memorial Garden, S.C. 341, Lynchburg.

Floral bearers will be friends and family.

Pallbearers will be trustees and family.

TAMORA E. HOLMES

Tamora Elaine Holmes, 47, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 29, 1956, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of Samuel Holmes and the late Sue Lee Brisbon Holmes. She attended the public schools of Sumter County, graduating from Sumter High School in 1975. At an early age, she joined Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church in Bishopville. Tamora was employed by DuBose Association Printing for several years. After leaving DuBose Printing, she joined the Sumter School District 2 family, where she was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

Survivors include two loving and devoted sons, Latimore Leron and Juwon Akeem Marquis Holmes of the home; two brothers, Sammie Lee (Mary) Holmes and Herbert (Nancy) Holmes, and one adopted brother, James Jenkins, all of Sumter; four sisters, Barbara Ann Crim of Wedgefield, Evelyn (Leon) Holmes Whaley, Marilyn Virginia Holmes and Wendy (William) Dinkins, all of Sumter; two adopted sisters, Altomeaze (Linton) Britman of Newport News, Va., and Debra Simon of Anchorage, Alaska; four aunts, Sadie Stuckey of Rembert, Edna Joe and Janie Jamison, both of Philadelphia, and Inez Chester of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Jerusalem Stuckey Baptist Church, 1407 Jamestown Road, Bishopville, with the Rev. Julia N. Sanders, pastor.

Burial will be in Davis cemetery, Bishopville.

Pallbearers will be Sumter School District 2 maintenance department.

Floral bearers will be Sumter School District 2 employees.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:15 p.m. from the home, 40 S. Blanding St., Sumter.

MANNING -- Rose Marie Coker Tomlinson, 59, widow of the late Joel G. Tomlinson, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at a Florence hospital.

Born in Turbeville, she was a daughter of Edith Driggers Coker and the late Carlisle R. Coker. She was a member of Manning First Baptist Church and the manager of the Deli at the Piggly Wiggly in Manning.

Surviving besides her mother of Manning are one daughter, Edith T. Terolli and husband, Walt, of Waterbury, Conn.; three sisters, Mary Frances Jackson, Lois C. Harvin and Brenda Gayle Coker, all of Manning; four brothers, Raymond Coker of Denmark, Glenn Coker of Moncks Corner, Jerry Coker and Rick Coker of Manning; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Clarendon Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Carey McElveen and Danny Bridges officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 326 Brockington St., Manning.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 120 Wall St., 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
