GENIE D. FULLARD

LAKE CITY – Genie D. Fullard, 55, wife of Jefferson Fullard, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.

She was a daughter of the late Joshua and Bessie McGill Daniels. She was employed as a nursing assistant at McLeod Regional Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa (Lawrence) Brunson of Charlotte, N.C., and Wanda (Prince) Gilliard of England; three sisters, Ruby Perdue and Myrtle Floy of New York and Ellaray Burgess of Lake Worth, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at New Zion Baptist Church in the Camerontown Community of Lake City with the Rev. J.J. Wilson officiating. Burial will be held in Sandhill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at 331 Wilmont St. in Lake City.

Green's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM S. KELLEY

William Sanford Kelley, 62, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Jessie W. Kelley and the late Janie Wilson Kelley.

Mr. Kelley was employed by Santee Print Works. He was an avid fisherman and sports enthusiast.

Surviving are four brothers, Samuel J. Kelley and James W. Kelley, both of Sumter, Dorse S. Kelley of Lexington and Aaron Frank Kelley of Warner Robins, Ga.; a sister, Alice K. Vest of Olar and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Sumter cemetery with the Rev. Jackie Jenkins officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Stephen, Clark Stephen Jr., Clark Stephen Sr., Mark Stephen, B.J. Sisson, Keith Hunt, Charles Windham and Charles Gleaton.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 365 Barney Lane.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

HENRY H. GRAHAM

PINEWOOD – Henry Hazel Graham Sr., 77, husband of 55 years to Ruth Edgeworth Graham, died, Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pinewood, he was a son of the late Milton Allen Graham and the late Allie Lee Barkley Graham.

He was a member of Pinewood United Methodist Church and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Sumter for 25 years. He was an active member of both churches serving on numerous boards and committees.

Mr. Graham retired from Black River Electric Cooperative after 34 years of service. He was a former Sumter County Magistrate, owner/operator of Thick and Thin Sawmill in Pinewood and was employed by the Town of Pinewood. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was a Korean War veteran.

He was a member of the Claremont Masonic Lodge #164, a charter member of the Jamil Temple and a member of the Jamil Honor Guard.

Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Henry Hazel Graham Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Chantilly, Va., and Vincent Morgan Graham and his wife, Melanie, of Columbia; two brothers, Howard Graham of Abrai, Ga., and Joe Graham of Byron, Ga., ; two sisters, Sadie Hatfield of Warner Robins, Ga., and Peggy Shirah of Irmo; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, M.A. Graham, Ed Graham and John Allen Graham; and a sister, Sarah Alice Graham.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Pinewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Broomall officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery in Sumter with Masonic Rites.

Pallbearers will be Hazel Graham, Morgan Graham, Richard Jenkinson, Sammy Shirah Jr., Edward Hatfield and Howard Graham Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be retired and current employees of Black River Electric Cooperative and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Pinewood United Methodist Church Benevolence Fund, 211 East Avenue North, Pinewood, SC 29125.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.

DORIS WOODS

Doris Jean Kennedy Woods, 68, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Hunter, Kan., she was a daughter of the late Carroll Earl Kennedy and the late Olive Blanche Lee Kennedy.

Mrs. Woods was a member of the First Church of God where she was a member of the Service Seekers and the Young At Heart. She was retired from Madison Industries.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Woods and his wife, Marsha, of Columbia and Adrian Woods and his wife, Debbie, of Sumter; a brother, Carroll Earl Kennedy Jr. of Manhattan, Kan.; four sisters, Ilene Wallace of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Roma Lee Irby and Ora Mae Irby, both of Bogue, Kan., and Ruthie Norsworthy of Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Lynn Lob and Deborah Ann Woods; and a son, David Burton Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating.

Burial will be in Wild Horse Township cemetery in Bogue, Kan.

The family will receive friends at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. today and other times at the home of her son, Adrian Woods, 1215 Warwick Drive.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of God, 318 N. Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

WILLIAM C. LEVETTE Sr.

COLUMBIA – William Colonel Levette Sr., 86, widower of Lula Levette, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Palmetto Baptist Hospital.

He was born July 8, 1917, in Talladega, Ala. He was employed by the City of New York as an elevator operator where he retired. After joining Bethel AME Church in Wedgefield, he served on the Steward Board and the Sons of Allen.

Survivors include a son, William Colonel Levette Jr. of New York; a stepson, Leroy (Rev. Mary Ann) Glisson of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Cassandra Ravenell of New York; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Andrew Levette and a sister, Luryne Sharpe, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; a special friend, Alice R. West of Wedgefield and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Loraine Glisson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Bethel AME Church in Wedgefield with the Rev. R.L. Cleckley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be held in Bethel AME Church cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Alice West, 375 Tee Boy Lane in Wedgefield.

ROBERTA J. SCHMITT

MANNING – Mrs. Roberta Julie Schmitt, 59, widow of Raymond L. Schmitt, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at her home in Manning.

Born May 3, 1944, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Vera Suggs Raymond. She attended Manning Assembly of God.

Surviving are a son, Julius O'Neal of Walterboro; a daughter, Ellen O'Neal of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Mary Hiers of Lodge, Lula Bell Benton of Walterboro and Helen Jones of Manning; three grandchildren, Cassidy, Scott and Terry Ray O'Neal.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Sam Neal officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Beaufort National cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today, prior to the funeral service at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning.

MARIA J. RILEY

Marie Jane Riley, 90, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 22, 1914, in Wedgefield, she was a daughter of the late Murphy and Menda Harvin Riley.

The family will receive friends at the home of her granddaughter, Tara Robinson, 580 Eagle Lane in Wedgefield.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc.

Dr. EUGENE W. KELLER Jr.

SUMMERTON – Dr. Eugene William Keller Jr., 79, husband of Frances Jean Chapman Keller, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Born August 10, 1924, in St. Matthews, he was a son of the late Eugene William Keller Sr., and the late Mary East Keller. He was a member of Summerton United Methodist Church, and ran a medical practice in Summerton for 28 years, and practiced with S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation for eight years. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife of Summerton; three daughters, Leslie K. Hofammann and her husband, Dr. Dabney Y. Hofammann, of Decatur, Ala., Linda K. Hart and her husband, Larry W., of Indian Land, and Elizabeth K. Lierley and her husband, Michael J., of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Mrs. Ken Feryus of St. Matthews; and six grandchildren.

A private family burial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at West End cemetery in St. Matthews with the Rev. Carolyn Malphrus officiating.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 14 Mood Drive, Summerton.

Memorials may be made to Summerton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 35, Summerton, SC 29148 or to a charity of one's choice.

HOWARD RIVERS

BISHOPVILLE – Howard "BJ" Rivers died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at his home, 214 Davis St.

The family will receive friends at the home, 214 Davis St.

Funeral services will be announced by Square Deal Funeral Home.

MABELL BENNETT OWENS

Mabell Bennett Owens, 86, wife of the late Isaac Owens, died March 17, 2004, at Toumey Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 7, 1917, in Pinewood, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Rosa Kelly Felder Bennett.

She attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, she relocated to New York where she worked for many years.

Survivors include three sisters, Katie (Joe) Osorio, Elease Hastie and Dorothy (James) Myers, all of Sumter; two brothers, Dea. Bobby Bennett of Sumter and the Rev. Neal (Jannie) Bennett of Baltimore; two sisters-in-law, Mary L. Bennett and Margaret Bennett, both of Baltimore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Timothy, Tammy, Sylvester, William, and James Bennett; one sister, Lutisha B. Washington; two sisters-in-law, Julia Hastie Bennett and Elsie Chambers Bennett; and one brother-in-law, Harmon Washington.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Willie Wright Jr. and Dr. Ralph W. Canty Sr. and Neal Bennett officiating. The body will be placed in the Heritage Chapel, 710 Manning Ave., at 1 p.m.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 345 Rolling Creek Drive.

Job's Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
