VIDER LUE WHITE

LYNCHBURG -- Vider Lue White, daughter of the late McKinley and Lizzie Barnes, entered this life on Jan. 7, 1932, in Sumter County. She was one of nine children born to this union, five of whom preceded her in death.

Vider received her formal education in the South Carolina school system. She married Bernie L. Lowery and of this union had one child, Barbara. She remarried in 1981 to Willie James White and was employed by The Children's Aide Society for 20 years. She was a member of St. Matthew AME Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Willie J. White; daughter, Barbara Hudson; her brother, Leroy Barnes; two sisters, Pearl Simpson and Mary Sampson; two stepdaughters, Hattie M. Bristow and Greattea White; one stepson, Matthew White; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew AME Church on Main Street in Lynchburg with the Rev. Alvis Webb as pastor.

The body will be placed in the church at noon.

The family will leave the home of 265 Vista Lane, Lynchburg, at 12:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Chandler cemetery, St. John community, Lynchburg.

Commercial Funeral Home, 100 Main St., Lynchburg, is in charge of arrangements.

ELIZABETH WHITE

Elizabeth "Bessie" White died Monday, March 22, 2004, at a local nursing center.

Services will be announced by Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory.

M.D. COLLINS

M.D. "Rip" Collins, age 73, beloved husband of Barbara "Bobbie" Collins, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at his residence.

Mr. Collins was born in Horry County, son of the late French Smith and Lula Collins. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the FBI Academy. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant after 20 years serving during the Korean Conflict. He also retired as a major from the Sumter City Police Department after a distinguished and decorated career serving 26 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael Dewayne Collins of Lexington and Terry Glen Collins and his wife, Maxine, of Lynchburg; one sister, Barbara Jean Culp and her husband, David, of Lancaster; two brothers, Clarence D. Collins and his wife, Betty, of Sumter and the Rev. Hershel Collins and his wife, Shirley, of Alabama; two grandchildren, Terry Alan Collins and Amy Collins Barwick and her husband, Mike, all of Sumter; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Edward Collins; and one sister, Estelle Collins Rowell.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Bullock Funeral Home with the Rev. Walt Philips and the Rev. Hershel Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Bryant, Randy Collins, John Gault, Mark Mitcham, Roy Bryant and Jack Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Sumter City Police Department.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Ridgehill Drive.

Memorials may be sent to the First Church of the Nazarene, 1010 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home for the arrangements.

DEBRA ANN WILSON

TURBEVILLE -- Debra Ann Wilson, 27, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.

Born Aug. 15, 1976, in Manning, she was a daughter of Ernest Fulton and Hermeter Wilson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County, graduating from East Clarendon High School. She worked at Gold Kist in Sumter and attended St. Johns AME Church, Workman community of Kingstree.

Survivors besides her father, Ernest Fulton of Kingstree, and mother, Hermeter Wilson of New Zion, include her maternal grandmother, Pernel B. Wilson of Turbeville; two sons, Juwan O. Wilson of Columbia and Tyliek I. Wilson of Florence; one daughter, Kimberly Q. Wilson of Columbia; one brother, Roy Lee Wilson of Turbeville; five uncles; seven aunts; three nephews; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, George W. Wilson; and two uncles, Dalmer and David Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning. The Rev. Maggie Veronica White, pastor of Church of God Prophecy, New Zion, will officiate, assisted by Evangelist Mary Adams, Minnie P. Johnson and the Rev. Martin Cunningham.

Burial will be at St. Johns AME Church, Workman community, Kingstree.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1602 Farmwood Circle, Turbeville.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

MAGGIE B. HOLLAND

BISHOPVILLE -- Maggie Belle Holland, 92, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center.

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Ed Holland and the late Lizzie Jones Holland. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church at Springhill and was retired from Byerly Hospital in Hartsville. She was originally from Woodrow but lived with her niece and nephew, Wanda and Skeet Woodham.

Survivors include three nieces, Wanda Woodham of Bishopville, Winnie Clark of North Carolina and Florence Holland of Florida; a nephew, Henry L. Holland of Sumter; and a sister-in-law, Bootsey Holland of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Holland, Edward Holland and Henry Holland; and a sister, Iona Kelley.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the St. John United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Gary Boykin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at 3663 Una Road, Bishopville.

Memorials may be made to the St. John United Methodist Church cemetery Fund, 1530 St. Phillips Road, Dalzell, SC 29040.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of the arrangements.

CAMELIA FURBAY

Camelia Glover Tuthill Furbay, age 86, beloved wife of Dr. Walter M. Furbay, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Furbay was born in Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles Burt and Josephine Glover Tuthill. She graduated from King's College in Briar Cliff Manor, N.Y., earning an AA degree in pre-nursing and a B.S. degree in business management and economics. She worked in Suffolk County, N.Y., as the first woman police officer during World War II. She retired as a branch manager from Western Union with 46 years of service. She attended Gilead Friends Church in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and also attended Pine Brook Presbyterian Church in Sumter.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Hanover, Pa., are one son, William R. Boggs of Nokomis, Fla.; one daughter, Helen Mallon of Bonita Springs, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Vollie Boggs Jr.; six brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sumter Baptist Temple with the Rev. Ray Holland and the Rev. Eddie Richardson officiating.

The family will receive friends at her daughter-in-law's residence in Sumter.

Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association Mid-State SC Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202-7044.

MALCOLM E. BROWN

Malcolm Everett Brown, husband of Lillian Virginia Holliday Brown, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at his home.

Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Edward Brown and Louise Brunson Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Graham Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.

Surviving are five daughters, Evelyn Noles, Betty Goff and Barbara Broadway, all of Sumter, Gloria Masters of Simpsonville and Nancy Brewer of Hartsville; one sister, Bessie Mae Holliday of Sumter; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Betty Goff, 214 Thomas Drive.

Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29205.

JAMES JUNIOUS

SUMMERTON -- James "Boy" Junious, 78, widower of Ernestine Parker Junious, died Thursday evening, March 25, 2004, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.

Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Ralph Junious and Mary Robinson Junious.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1332 Lilly Martin Road, Summerton (old River Road community).

Services will be announced by Summerton Funeral Service.

BEAUTY MAE McCLAM McINTOSH

LAKE CITY -- Beauty Mae McClam McIntosh, 63, wife of Ernest Harold McIntosh, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004.

She was the daughter of the late Clyde McClam and Henrietta Atkinson McClam. She was a 1958 graduate of Carver High School and a member of Chapter 330 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Larry's Discount Store.

Survivors include a son, Harold Kevin McIntosh of Lake City; two daughters, Janice (Lerone) McKenzie and Cynthia McIntosh of Lake City; three brothers, Roy McClam (Janice) of Teaneck, N.J., the Rev. Mack (Gwendolyn) McClam of Columbia, and David McClam of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five sisters, Cleo Daniels of New York, Mary (Carvin) Fulmore, Mamie McClam, Rona McClam and Dorothy McClam all of Lake City; and eight grandchildren.

A wake service will be held tonight at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Deep River Street, Lake City, with the Rev. T.J. Barrett officiating.

Burial will be in Rest Lawn cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 501 W. Independence Ave., Lake City.

Green's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILL HOLLOMAN

BISHOPVILLE -- Will Holloman died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville.

The family will receive friends at 210 Roland St., Apt. 7A (Woodside Apartments), in Bishopville, the home of his sister Ruby Anderson.

Services are incomplete.

Boatwright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES BURTS CULBERTSON

Charles Burts Culbertson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, March 27, 2004. Mr. Culbertson was the husband of Ida Kate Moody Culbertson and son of the late Carl Young and Blanch Burts Culbertson.

Mr. Culbertson was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He served for nine years as a Headmaster of Porter Military and as principal of St. Andrews Elementary School in Charleston, S.C., for 29 years until his retirement in 1982.

In addition to his wife Ida Kate, he is survived by a son, Charles Burts Culbertson Jr. of Laurens, a daughter, Jean Culbertson Lewis of Sumter, four grandchildren and a brother, Carl Young Culbertson Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Union Baptist Church cemetery, Laurens, S.C. The Rev. Ron Shearer is officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Ashley River Baptist Church, Charleston, S.C., or Union Baptist Church, Laurens, S.C.

Kennedy Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
