COLIN WILLIAM DEADMOND

Colin William Deadmond, age 32, beloved husband of two-and-a-half years to Sybil Kirby Deadmond, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. He was born in Kittery, Maine. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.

Services will be announced by Bullock Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter.

JAMES 'BOY' JUNIOUS

SUMMERTON -- James "Boy" Junious, 78, widow of Ernestine Parker Junious, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Palmetto Richland Memorial in Columbia.

He was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Clarendon County the son of Ralph Junious and Mary Robinson Junious.

He attended the public schools of Clarendon County and was a member of Greater St. Phillip RUME Church. He was employed with Sunbeam bakery's Orangeburg plant and retired from the town of Summerton.

Survivors include three sons, Ernest (LuAnn) Junious of Brooklyn, N.Y., and James (Dottie) Canty, of Philadelphia, and Charlie Junious of the home; seven daughters, Hattie (Michel) Caul of Rosedale, N.Y., Margaret (Harold) Junious of Sumter, Ruth McQueen and Millie (Bernard) Johnson, both of Brooklyn, Barbara Mack and Carrie (LeRoy) Blackwell, all of Sumter; two brothers, Richard Canty and John (Rochelle) Canty, both of Philadelphia; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and an adopted daughter, Dorothy Ragin of Summerton.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Junious, three brothers and two sisters.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greater St. Phillip RUME Church, 4574 Old River Road, Pinewood.

The Rev. Warren Hatcher will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Amos Hatcher and presiding elder Malachi L. Duncan.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ther funeral procession will leave the residence, 1332 Lily Martin Road, Summerton, at 1:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1332, Lily Martin Road, Summerton.

Summerton Funeral Service of Summerton is in charge of arrangements.

MICHAEL SINGLETON

Michael Singleton, 32, husband of Kendra Wilson Singleton, died March 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1971, in Sumter, the son of Thomas Jones and Elizabeth Singleton Abram.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Elizabeth Abram, 523 S. Harvin St., Sumter.

Services will be announced by Williams Funeral Home Inc.

RUBY CLARK WATTS

MAYESVILLE -- Ruby Clark Watts, 91, widow of Edgar R. Watts, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at her home. Services will be announced by Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory.

WALTER L. BERRY

Walter Laverne Berry, husband of Alma Morris Berry, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., he was a son of Octavia Gunn Berry and the late John W. Berry. Mr. Berry was retired from Sumter School District 2 and was a member of the Elks Club.

Surviving along with his wife of Sumter are his mother of Sumter; two sons, Freddy Berry and wife, Jewel, of Lexington and Steve Berry and his wife, Deborah, of Sumter; two daughters, Debbie Ardis and her husband, Jimmy, of Sumter and Kathy Thynes of Sumter; one brother, Bobby Berry of Sumter; one sister, Patricia Hill of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Rusty Conyers officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sumter cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1921 Coral Way.

COLIN W. DEADMOND

Colin William Deadmond, age 32, husband of 2 1/2 years to Sybil Yvonne Kirby Deadmond, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Deadmond was born in Kittery, Maine, the son of Joyce Harju Richards and Colin Deadmond. He formerly worked for Southeastern Casework and Southern Coatings.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three sons, Bryan Deadmond, Brandon Deadmond and Craig Deadmond; one daughter, Diamond Deadmond, all of Sumter; a stepfather, Scott Richards of Garland, Texas; aunts and uncles, Bill and Jean Lundin of Big Bay, Mich., Elaine and Ken Harju of Gurnee, Ill., Ron Harju of Lake Villa, Fla., and Linda Painter of Willard, N.C.; and a large number of friends.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Memorials may be sent to the SPCA Humane Organization, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150, or the Leukemia Research Foundation, 820 Davis St., Suite 420, Evanston, IL 60201.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home for the arrangements.

LOUIS M. NELSON

Louis Melvin Nelson, 71, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born March 30, 1932, in New York City, he was a son of the late Samuel George and Cassie Marshan Wright Nelson.

The family will receive friends at the home of his niece, Bessie "Cukye" Nelson, 2835 Remington Drive, Sumter 29154.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

JAMES C. BROWN

PENNINGTON GAP, Va. -- James C. "Jim" Brown, 68, husband of Ruth Brown, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at his home in Pennington Gap, Va.

Services will be announced by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter.

ELDRIDGE FLOYD

FLORENCE -- Mr. Eldridge Floyd, age 72, of Florence, formerly of Sumter, went to meet the Lord on March 29, 2004, after a long illness with cancer.

The family will receive friends at Layton Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto St. (U.S. 76) in Florence from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Mr. Floyd will be in the Chapel one hour before service for those who may not be able to visit during the visitation night. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Larry Hummel of Open Bible Baptist Church of Sumter and the Rev. J. Timothy Howell of Gospel Temple in Florence. Entombment in the Mausoleum will follow the service.

Mr. Floyd retired from Santee Print Works in Sumter after 42 years of service. He then went on to work for Waste Management both in Sumter and Florence for three years. In his spare time, he enjoyed line dancing and was in a group that performed for functions especially at nursing facilities, which gave him great joy. He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church in Sumter but also attended his wife's church, Gospel Temple in Florence.

He was born Jan. 20, 1932, in Turbeville. His father was the late Henry Calvin Floyd, his mother the late Pearlie Floyd Coker and stepfather the late Woodrow Coker.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Inez Turner Floyd of Florence; his ex-wife, Ms. Letty McKenzie Floyd; his daughter, Ms. Nancy Darlene Floyd; and sons, Mr. Eldridge Levone "Bunky" Floyd and Mr. Stanley Ledale "Dale" Floyd, all of Sumter.

He was predeceased by a son, Mr. Bruce Kenneth "Jitters" Floyd.

He has nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving Mr. Floyd are his stepdaughters, Ms. Fran Dickerson Hawley and Mrs. Cathy T. Lovett and her husband, Cleon; a stepson, Mr. Richard Turner and his wife, Christine, along with their children and grandchildren; his sisters, Ms. Beulah Mae Fulton (Thomas), Ms. Jackie Coker, Ms.Evelyn Brinson, Ms. Janice Lee and Ms. Cleo (C.C.) Gainey; his brothers, Mr. Henry Calvin "Son" Floyd (Sara Jane), Mr. W.J. Coker (Christine), Mr. H.E. Floyd (Diane), all of Sumter; along with numerous friends and two loving church families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Bible Baptist Church in Sumter or Gospel Temple Church in Florence.

The family will be at the residence of Ms. Fran Dickerson Hawley, 402 Guildford Circle (Springdale subdivision), Florence, SC 29501.

BETTY JEAN McKENZIE

GABLE -- Betty Jean "Nana" McKenzie, 24, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident on Walker-Gamble Road in Gable.

Born June 29, 1979, in Gable, she was a daughter of George "Buddy" McKenzie and Catherine Kennedy McKenzie. She was a member of Howard Chapel AME Church and a 1999 graduate of East Clarendon High School in Turbeville.

Survivors besides her parents, George and Catherine Kennedy McKenzie of Gable, include one son, Trayshaun Q. McKenzie of the home; seven brothers, Willie J. (Hattie Mae) McKenzie of Gable, Curtis McKenzie of Manning, Lincoln McKenzie of the home; Tracy A. McKenzie of Dalzell, George E. McKenzie of Sumter, Freddie (Vicky) McKenzie of Sumter and Willie L. McKenzie of Bishopville; and two sisters, Mary L. McKenzie of Gable and Jannie L. McKenzie of the home.

The remains will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Howard Chapel AME Church, Old Manning Road, New Zion, with the Rev. Edward Roberts, pastor, assisting the Rev. Eddie Mayes and the Rev. Jerome McCray. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the male classmates of 1999, East Clarendon High School.

Floral bearers will be the female classmates of 1999, East Clarendon High School.

The family will receive friends at the home, 12420 U.S. 301, Gable.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

RUBY C. WATTS

MAYESVILLE -- Ruby Clark Watts, 91, widow of Edgar R. Watts, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at her home.

Born in Williamsburg County, she was the daughter of the late Lorenza Dow Clark and the late Julia Carolyn Cantey Clark. Mrs. Watts was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Oswego, where she served as president of the Alice Andrews Bible Class and secretary of United Methodist Church Women's group for more than 30 years. She also worked diligently heading up many church fund-raisers.

Surviving are a son, Clark Watts of Sumter; daughters-in-law, Deborah Watts, Rachel Watts Geddings and Alberta Watts, all of Sumter; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Michael Watts and Donald Watts; three sisters, Alma DuBose, Edna Clark and Grace Clark; and three brothers, Belton Clark, David Clark and L.D. Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Oswego with the Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2855 McCoy Road.

Pallbearers will be men of the J.L. Edens Bible Class.

Memorials may be sent to Bethel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, SC 29153.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

CAMDEN -- Stephen Ingram, 90, of 1360 Wells Road, died Sunday, March 28, 2004.

Visitation will be at 1360 Wells Road and 1408 Halley Road.
