KIZER HARVIN Sr.

Kizer Harvin Sr., 75, husband of Maggie Lawson Harvin, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Mariner Health of Sumter East.

Born Dec. 26, 1928, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Cicero Harvin and Ella Lee Jones.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 39 S. Blanding St., Sumter.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

CORNELL HAMLET

LAKE CITY -- Cornell "Daddy" Hamlet, 49, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.

He was born in Florence County.

Services will be announced by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.

MICHAEL S. SINGLETON

Michael Shawn Singleton, 32, husband of Kendra Wilson Singleton, died March 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born April 10, 1971, in Sumter County, he was a son of Thomas Jones and Elizabeth Singleton Abram. Michael attended the public schools of Sumter County and Sumter High School. He also attended Central Carolina Technical College. During his working career, he was employed by VB Williams, Gold Kist Inc., and Santee Print Co.

Survivors include two sons, Rashard Hardy and Marquis Rogers; one daughter, Chiquanda Hardy; one brother, Kevin W. Abram; one sister, Whitney M. Abram.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ben Singleton Sr. and Theodosia Diggs Singleton.

The remains will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday from the Canty Memorial Church, 873 Woodcrest Road, Sumter, with Elder Eugene Canty, pastor, and the Rev. Eddie Mayes officiating.

Burial will be in Walker cemetery, Sumter.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Floral bearers will be friends of the family.

The funeral procession will leave at 12:15 p.m. from the home of his mother, Elizabeth Singleton Abram, 523 S. Harvin St., Sumter.

Williams Funeral Home Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

DONALD E. BUSLETT

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Mr. Donald E. Buslett, of 2209 Linda Lane, died Thursday, April 1, 2004.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bob Glasgow. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 7, 1929, in Lewistown, Mont., he was a son of the late Edgar Morris and Madeline Janeaux Buslett. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Creighton Shirt.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Jessie Boyce Buslett of Sumter; three daughters, Connie Bridgers, Donna Roach and Susan Wetmore; six grandchildren, Cristy Phillips, Sarah Hood, Jason Keranen, Leigh Ann and Jessica Keranen, and Justin Wetmore; two brothers, Dorm (Bud) Poulin and Richard Buslett; sister, Myrle Opitz; and a special dog, Lady.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

JOHN D. HODGE Sr.

John Delton Hodge Sr., 66, husband of Patricia Riles Hodge, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Boyd Odell Hodge and the late Crecie Maynard Hodge. Mr. Hodge was employed by Broadway Brunson and Gates Heating and Air Conditioning Co.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; three sons, John D. Hodge Jr. and wife, Ernie, James Odell Hodge and wife, Brenda, and Roger Dale Hodge and wife, Jeanette, all of Sumter; two daughters, Donna Taylor and husband, Steve, and Jenny Hodge and Mike Kemp of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Hodge and Lorraine H. Ridgill, both of Sumter; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles O. Hodge.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

SHIRLEY B. McENTIRE

Shirley Bailey McEntire, age 64, wife of 46 years to Albert Osborn McEntire Sr., died on Thursday, March 31, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Wadesboro, N.C., a daughter of the late Prentice Clyde and Della Louise Cowick Bailey. She loved ceramics and painting. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Albert McEntire Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Sumter; two daughters, Pamela McEntire Ross and her husband, Jackie Ross Sr., and Sandra McEntire, both of Sumter; one brother, Ellis Cowick of Wadesboro, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Brenda Bailey of Norwood, N.C.; two grandchildren, Deborah McEntire Lynch and her husband, Stan Lynch Jr., and Jackie Ross Jr., both of Sumter; two great-grandchildren, Harmony Lynch and Jasmine McEntire; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, David Bailey of Norwood, N.C.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Tony Sanders officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home and at other times at the family residence.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home to handle the arrangements.

CHARLIE LEE BRACEY

Charlie Lee Bracey, husband of Uther Scarborough Bracey, died at his residence in Sumter.

Born in Winston Salem, N.C., on May 31, 1932, he was a son of the late Moses J. Bracey and Henretta Carpenter P. Bracey.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Ronetta B. Watson, 9 Cleveland St., Sumter.

Palmer Memorial Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

NATHANIEL COPELAND

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Mr. Nathaniel Copeland, husband of Mrs. Helen Copeland, departed this life on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at North West Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

He was born in Lee County, a son of the late Mr. Harry Copeland and Mrs. Bertha Washington Copeland.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Sumter Funeral Service Inc.

William Cullie "Billy" Dennis Sr., 71, husband of Iva Nell Morris Dennis, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at his home.

Services will be announced by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter.

WILLIAM CULLIE 'BILLY' DENNIS Sr.

William Cullie "Billy" Dennis Sr., 71, husband of Iva Nell Morris Dennis, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at his home.

Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Cullie Pepper Dennis and the late Ellen Gibbons Dennis.

Mr. Dennis attended Smithville Evangelical Baptist Church and was retired from Santee Print Works.

Survivors besides his wife include one son, William C. "Bill" Dennis Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Sumter; four granddaughters, Tabetha Lucille Dennis, Kylie Nicole Dennis, April Michelle Dennis and Ellen Elizabeth Dennis; and a great-granddaughter, Layla Marie Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Coker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Freddie Gaymon and Carl Miles officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Turbeville.

Pallbearers will be Richard Wessinger, Richard Linville, Alan Smith, Bobby Davis and Harold Hodge.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

KIZER HARVIN Sr.

Kizer Harvin Sr., 75, husband of Maggie Lawson Harvin, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Mariner Healthcare, East.

Born on Dec. 26, 1928, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Cicero and Ella Lee Jones Harvin. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he joined the Walker Avenue Church of God where he served on auxiliaries to include the Usher Board, Trustee Board and as a member of the male chorus. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Co. and Tuomey Healthcare System where he worked diligently for a combined number of 45 years.

Surviviors besides his wife include two children, the Rev. Kizer (Sherrie) Harvin Jr. of Canton, Miss., and Minister Maggie Richardson of Atlanta; five children he reared, Robert (Edna) Bethea of Sumter, Willie (Joyce) Lawson of Austin, Texas, Mary Kelly of Charleston, S.C., Yolanda Lewis of Columbus, Ohio, and Betty Randolph of New York; one sister, Katie Mae (Rufus) Wright of Sumter; four grandchildren, Kelso (Brenda) Harvin and Corey (Youlinda) Richardson, both of Sumter, Monique Harvin and Sharie Harvin, both of Canton; seven great-grandchildren, Atia, Emani, Nia, Joy, Justin, Zion and Josiah; a special son-in-law, Herbert Albert of Sumter; five brothers-in-law, Robert Lawson, John Lewis, Roosevelt Lawson, Thomas Coldman and James Magazine; five sisters-in-law, Elouise Harvin, Parrlee Lewis, Eula Bethea, Corrine Lewis and a special sister-in-law, Ida Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Richardson; one aunt, Lou Ethel Pellman; one sister, Mable Burroughs; and two brothers, Leroy Harvin and William Harvin.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, at Walker Avenue Church of God with the Rev. Bobby Damon, pastor, officiating, assisted by Bishop Timothy Clarke, the Revs. Willie Lawson and Kizer Harvin Jr. and Minister Maggie Richardson.

The body will be placed in the church Monday, April 5, 2004, at 12 p.m.

Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 39 S. Blanding St., Sumter.

Job's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
