JAMES FLOYD

James Floyd died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in Sumter County.

Born April 19, 1950, in Horatio, Sumter County, he was a son of the late Style Chinky Floyd and Sarah Lee "Hand" Gayle Floyd.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Nancy Floyd Bradford, 7175 Rostyles Lane, the Claremont community.

Services will be announced by Palmer Memorial Chapel Inc. of Sumter.

OTIS L. RABON

LUGOFF -- Funeral services for Otis Laverne Rabon, 64, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Harvest Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Bill Delane and the Rev. Joe Stines will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Elgin Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kershaw County, 2001 W. DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020, or to Harvest Baptist Church, 281 Wildwood Lane, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Mr. Rabon died April 7, 2004, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

Born in Ashwood on March 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Tillman and Annie Ray Rabon. He was a retired truck driver from McLean and Conoco and was co-owner of Brothers Lawn Service with his brother, Pete, from 1993 to 2000. Mr. Rabon was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and spending time with his two Jack Russell Terriers, Buddy and Bessie.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Annelle Atkinson Rabon; daughters and spouses, Jackie and Rick Jordan of Lake Wateree and Jill and Mack Upchurch of Lugoff; granddaughter and her spouse, Rhagen and Jeff Harsey of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren also include Jared, Jenna, Jacob and Jason Upchurch of Lugoff; great-grandson, Tillman Jordan "T.J." Harsey of Memphis, Tenn.; siblings, George Rabon of Sumter, Dallas Pete Rabon of Lugoff, Mrs. Tommy (Eloise) Browne of Hartsville, Mrs. Clayton (Elise) Hancock of Lugoff, Mrs. Watson (Lillian) Barwick of Sumter, Mrs. Eddie (Margaret) Cook of Lugoff and Mrs. Lewis (Vivian) Atkinson of Ashwood; special friends, John Maczko of Camden, Ken Frazier of Camden and Donnie McElveen of Lugoff.

He was predeceased by a brother, Claude Rabon.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Alice Brooks, Dr Paul Christenberry, Dr. Thomas Brandt, the Oncology Department of Kershaw County Medical Center and the Kershaw County Hospice Team.

OLLIE I. STUKES

MANNING -- Ollie I. Stukes, 98, widower of Mattie Land Boswell Stukes, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton.

Born Oct. 3, 1905, in Manning, he was a son of the late Perry and Onita Bryant Stukes. He was owner and operator of Ollie's Barber Shop and a member of Manning First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Ollie L. Stukes and wife, Shirley, of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Dr. Kathy Allan of Atlanta, Teri Wallin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Elizabeth Dean of Hartsville; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Manning First Baptist Church. The Rev. Carey McElveen and the Rev. Dr. Paul Sullivan will officiate. Burial will follow in Manning cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Williamson, Larry Whitley, Jackie Hodge, Archie Stukes, L.G. Mathis and Wilbur Ardis.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 607 Pickwood Drive.

Memorials may be made to Manning First Baptist Church, 49 W. Boyce St., Manning, SC 29102.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

WILLIE L. BANNISTER

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Willie L. Bannister, 54, died Sunday, April 3, 2004, at Kingsbrough Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Born March 12, 1949, in Summerton, Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Nelson Bannister Sr. and Lillie Mae Dow Bannister.

The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Janet B. Junius, 1046 Governor Richardson Road, Summerton, and other times at the home of Frances Bannister, 1290 Thistle Place, Summerton, beginning Sunday.

Services will be announced by Summerton Funeral Service.

CLEO B. GREEN

OLANTA -- Cleo Brown Green, 69, widow of the late Willie James Brown, died Monday, April 5, 2004.

She was a daughter of the late Rev. James Brown Sr. and Minnie Woods Brown. She was a member of Jordan Chapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 237.

Survivors include one daughter, Lillian (Larry) McCray of the home; three sisters, Calena Brayboy of Lake City, Lou Willer Rush of Opalaki, Fla., and Eulla Leach of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from Jordan Chapel Baptist Church, Olanta, with Elder Kenneth L. Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 117 Augusta St., Olanta.

Green's Funeral Home of Lake City is in charge of arrangements.

LUCILLE McKNIGHT

Mrs. Lucille McKnight, 91, of 1008 Morton St., died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the home of her daughter, 5508 Silver Road, Manning.

The family is receiving visitors at the home, 1008 Morton St., Sumter.

Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced by Community Funeral Home of Sumter.

MINNIE MAE J. HOLLIDAY

Minnie Mae Johnson Holliday, 91, widow of Roy Daniel Holliday, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bullock Funeral Home.

Services will be announced by Bullock Funeral Home of Sumter.

BENJAMIN D. JENKINS

COLUMBIA -- Homegoing service for Benjamin Davis Jenkins, 46, of Columbia, will be held at 5 p.m. today at Grace Church Ministries Inc.

Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, is in charge.

Mr. Jenkins died on April 4. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Maggie Davis Jenkins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was currently employed in telemarketing. He was a faithful member of Grace Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Jenkins; siblings, Diane and Michael DeMary; Avon, Jimmy and Terry Richardson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Christian Church Min. Inc.

ROBERT D. BELK

Mr. Robert Dillon "Bob" Belk, 74, husband of Ida Mae Kolb Belk, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

Born in Union County, N.C., he was a son of the late Stafford Memphis Belk and the late Martha Ida McManus Belk of Monroe, N.C. Mr. Belk was a prominent businessman and real estate developer.

Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, Gene Clark Belk and wife, Leslie Moore Belk, and Robert Memphis Belk and wife, Sherri Christine Belk, all of Sumter; three daughters, Linda Gayle Harris, Cheryl Ann Hanlon and husband, William Thomas Hanlon, and Patricia Faye Schmid and husband, Peter Dirk Schmid, all of Sumter; a brother, Stafford M. Belk of Rock Hill; a sister, Agnes Wolffe of Monroe, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James D. Belk and Archie Belk; three sisters, Pauline Bryant, Lula Mae Coffee and Martha Belk.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower and the Rev. Harold Reaves officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Garrett, Michael Dale Lyles, Michael Todd Harris, Mitchell Lee Harris, Matthew Adam Harris and Robert Memphis Belk Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be M.M. Weinberg Jr., C.O. Gulledge, Wilson M. MacEwen, Carlton R. Davidson, Steve Barwick, William E. DuRant Jr. and Charles E. Dinkins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, Gene C. Belk, 7 Paisley Park.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund, 318 N. Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.

JANIE MAE WHEELER

Janie Mae Wheeler died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the residence, 44 Dunway Drive.

Born in Mayesville, she was a daughter of Mary Plowden Rouse and the late West Rouse.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 44 Dunway Drive, Sumter.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

JAMES F. STEVENS Jr.

James Floyd Stevens Jr., 56, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at his home.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late James Floyd Stevens Sr. and the late Carrie Mae Kelly Stevens. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina Ann Butler of Gaston and Mary Stevens Harris of Columbia; one brother, Robert Hatchell of Sumter; five sisters, Angie Gause of Kingstree, Daisy McIntosh of Pinewood, Mary Thomas of Florida, Dorothy Matthews and Helen Geddings, both of Sumter; and three grandchildren, Kelly Ann Williams, Ashley Ray Hardin and Jeffery L. Butler Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating.

Burial will be in the Paxville cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

INEZ BOWMAN

SUMMERTON -- Inez Bowman, 84, wife of Isacc Bowman, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.

Born July 13, 1919, in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Pinckney Ragin and Luvenia Lawson Ragin.

The family will receive friends at the home, 6551 Liberty Hill Road, Summerton.

Services will be announced by King Funeral Home of Summerton.
