FRANCIS CHANEY Jr.

Francis Chaney Jr. died Aug. 4, 2004, at Dorn Veterans Medical Center in Columbia.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of Estelle Ballard Chaney and the late Francis Chaney Sr.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 232 S. Purdy St., Sumter, SC 29150.

Services will be announced by Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter.

KENNETH E. ROBISON

Kenneth Eugene Robison, 64, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born Aug. 19, 1939, in Bradenton, Fla., he was a son of the late Delmar P. and Bertie Geddings Robison. He was employed by K&R Pest Control in Sumter.

Surviving are a daughter, Tonya Marsh of Jonesboro, Ark.; two sisters, Darlene Bochette of Sumter and Marcia Hodges of Georgia; a brother, Harold Wayne Robison of Hendersonville, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

WISDOM D. WILLIS III

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mr. Wisdom DeLorme Willis III died on July 31, 2004, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

The funeral for Mr. Willis will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Fulton St., Sumter, with burial at Walker cemetery in Sumter.

Jackson & McGill Funeral Home of 612 S. Main St., Marion, serves the Willis family.

PEARL L. ADAMS

WEST COLUMBIA -- Mrs. Pearl Lanham Adams, 82, widow of the late Rev. Mark Samuel Adams, died Aug. 2, 2004, at her residence in West Columbia.

Born Jan. 12, 1922, in Edgefield, she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. Lanham and Ethel Jennings Lanham. She attended Bettis Academy, Benedict College and South Carolina State University. She was a graduate of Allen University and was a retired teacher from the Edgefield public school system. She joined Jeter Baptist Church at an early age.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Adams McCain (Joseph) of Edgefield and Thyra Adams Briggs (Willie) of West Columbia; one sister, Ruby Lanham Campbell of Rochester, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jeter Baptist Church, Edgefield, with the Rev. Thyra A. Briggs, the Rev. Bob Haskell and the Rev. B.V. Fore.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial, Edgefield.

The family will receive friends at 2309 Bob White Lane, West Columbia, and 280 Glover St., Edgefield.

Fleming-DeLaine Funeral Home of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

EDDIE LEE HICKMAN

BISHOPVILLE -- Mr. Eddie Lee Hickman, 54, died July 31, 2004, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

Born July 23, 1950, in Lee County, he was a son of Mr. George Hickman Sr. and the late Mrs. Bertha Mae Ford Hickman. Mr. Hickman was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Elliott and a 1971 graduate of Friendship Junior College, Rock Hill. He entered the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 1972, and retired on Dec. 31, 1995, having served 23 years with a rank of command sergeant major.

Survivors besides his father include three daughters, Towanda (William) Whitaker, Tamara (Christopher) Vincent and Tiffany Hickman, all of Anniston, Ala.; seven brothers, George (Mary) Hickman Jr. of Boonesville, N.C., David Lee (Paulette) Hickman of Camden, Robert Lee Hickman, Jesse Lee (Marie) Hickman and James Edward Hickman, all of Sumter, Harry Lee Hickman of Mayesville, and Anthony LaVance (Kyeeniah) Hickman of Bishopville; four sisters, Georgia Mae Mack of Bishopville, Carrie Lee Williams of Cambria Heights, N.Y., Mary Lee (William) Bell and Virginia Mae Hickman, both of Sumter; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Ann Hickman.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Barnettsville Baptist Church, Bishopville. Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

The funeral procession will leave from the home of his sister, Ms. Georgia Mae Mack, 44 Hawthorne Court, Bishopville.

The family will receive friends at 44 Hawthorne Court, Bishopville.

Wilson's Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

HATTIE LEE B. BRADSHAW

GREELEYVILLE -- Hattie Lee Benjamin Bradshaw, 73, widow of Udell Bradshaw, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Mariner Health West of Sumter.

Born May 24, 1931, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Addison Benjamin Jr. and Marie Navy Benjamin.

The family will receive friends at the family residence, 1525 Bradshaw Road, Greeleyville.

Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

WALLACE CAMPBELL

Wallace Campbell, 59, died on Aug. 3, 2004, in Washington, D.C.

Born in Sumter County on Nov. 10, 1944, he was a son of the late Sam Campbell Jr. and Mary Hunter Campbell.

The family will recieve friends at the home of his sister, Precious Campbell Wilson, 5190 Ridge St. in Dalzell.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Palmer Memorial Chapel of Sumter.

BEVERLY ANN D. STEWART

WEDGEFIELD -- Beverly Ann DuPont Stewart, 52, wife of Wilbert Stewart, died Aug. 3, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1951, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Dorothy Prince DuPont and the late Norman DuPont. She joined Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the nursery ministry and the Route 66 Classes. In 1970, she graduated from Sumter High School. She obtained a nurse's assistant diploma from Sumter Area Technical College and was later employed by National Healthcare for 10 years.

Survivors besides her husband and mother include four children, Maverick Stewart and Wendol (Rhonda) Stewart, both of Huntersville, N.C., Karen (Marcello) Boatright of Sumter and Daryl (Amy) Stewart of Fayetteville, N.C.; nine precious grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Jean Blanding, Naomi China and Carol Ann Durant, all of Sumter; three brothers, Norman (Catherine) DuPont of Miami, Clarence DuPont of Atlanta and Marion DuPont of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Joyce (Sam) Tomlin of Sumter; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Croskey; paternal grandparents, Helen and Marion DuPont; and maternal grandparents, Lillie and Lockley Prince.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Marion H. Newton, pastor.

Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 13 Sandra Court, Wedgefield, SC 29168, and at the home of her daughter, Karen Boatright, 1035 Belmont Drive, Sumter.

Job's Mortuary Inc. of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.

SAMUEL A. NEELY

Samuel A. Neely, 93, widower of Cornelia Davis Neely, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was a son of the late Samuel M. Neely and the late Mamie McKnight Neely. Mr. Neely was a member of Shaw Heights Baptist Church. He was a retired U.S. Air Force staff sergeant with 21 years of service and a World War II and Korean veteran. He was also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was a former area supervisor for Pinkerton Security.

Surviving are a son, Rudolph Neely of Gravois Mills, Mo.; a granddaughter, Dana Neely of Texas; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shaw Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Victor Cheek officiating.

Burial will be in Flint Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Ft. Mill.

Pallbearers will be Larry Cress, Jesse Sarvis, Bill Hamilton, Bob Hillman, Johnnie Arnold and B.C. Long.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

ELLA MAE M. BROWN

NEW ZION -- Ella Mae McKenzie Brown, 90, widow of Jaris Brown, died Aug. 3, 2004, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born May 2, 1914, in the New Zion section of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel McKenzie and Olivia Rose McKenzie. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal savior and joined Howard Chapel AME Church, serving faithfully as a member of the Stewardess Board, Missionary Society and anywhere needed.

Survivors include three sons, Isiah Brown Sr. of New Zion, James Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jerry Brown of the home; five daughters, Martha (Wesley) Butler Jr., Lettie (Johnny) McDowell, both of New Zion, Louisa Butler of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Celain Jackson of Gable and Verline (Raynold) Muldrow of Sumter; one brother, George (Catherine) McKenzie of Gable; five grandchildren she reared as her own, Kimberly (Michael) Douglas of the home, Nathan (Ella Mae) Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Clyde Brown of Kingstree, Earl Brown Jr. of New Zion and Marshal Jackson of Sumter; three sisters, Lillie Bell Brown of San Diego, Sadie Ceasar of Manning and Shelly McKenzie of Gable; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven children and eight siblings.

The remains will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Howard Chapel AME, Old Manning Road, New Zion, with the Rev. Edward Roberts, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Jerome McCray presiding, assisting the Revs. Vermell Humes, Eddie Mayes and Bobby McDonald.

Pallbearers will be men of the church and friends of the family.

Burial will be in the churchyard cemetery.

Floral bearers will be ladies of the church and friends of the family.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lettie and Johnny McDowell, 1185 527 Subdivision Road, New Zion.

KEVINLIN WELLS Jr.

SUMMERTON -- Kevinlin "Keith" Wells Jr., 19, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in the Summerton community.

Born Jan. 26, 1985, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Kevin S. Wells Sr. of Summerton and Margaret Fuller of Miami. He was reared by his grandparents, Samuel (Hattie Mae) Wells of Summerton. He received his education in the public schools of Clarendon County and Dade County schools, Miami. In his youth, he attended Spring Hill AME Church with his family. He was employed by Taw Caw Creek Nursery and Tomberlin Pole Treatment Co.

Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Wells and Otto Johnson, both of Miami; and six sisters, Jacquline Tindal of Miami, Tanika Biggins, Otteisha and Oushell Johnson, all of Miami, Sheila Carter of Summerton and Valencia Wells of Fort Campbell, Ky.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Spring Hill AME Church, 4304 Bill Davis Road, Summerton, with the Rev. Phillip Mixon, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from the home of his grandparents, Samuel (Hattie Mae) Wells, 1163 Saluda St., Goat Island community, Summerton.

The family will receive friends at the home of his grandparents and the home of his aunt, Mae Dell Lawson, 1163 A Saluda St., Summerton.

Summerton Funeral Service of Summerton is in charge of arrangements.
