PAUL MARTIN HOLLADAY

MANNING - Paul Martin Holladay, 34, husband of Melissa Friel Holladay and a son of Paul James and Ruby Alsbrooks Holladay, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at his home in Manning.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory in Manning.

WALLACE CAMPBELL

Wallace Campbell died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, in Washington.

Born in Sumter County on Nov. 10, 1944, he was the sixth child and third son of the late Sam Campbell Jr. and Mary Hunter Campbell.

He attended the public schools in Sumter County. Wallace was raised in and attended Willow Grove AME Church until he moved to Washington in 1968. He was employed by Fort Myers Asphalt Construction Co. and Joy Construction Co.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Jane Mitchell, and a brother, Sammie Campbell.

Surviving are three brothers, Francis (Ruth) Campbell of Dalzell, William S. (Josephine) Campbell of Washington and Stevenson (Dawn) Campbell of Columbia; four sisters, Preshes Campbell Wilson of Dalzell, Dorothy P. (Leroy) Howard and Mary Ree (Leroy) Ramsey of Sumter and Irene (Sam) Simmoms of Cross.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Willow Grove AME Church, Horatio, with the Rev. Antonio M. Bonner, pastor, officiating assisted by the Revs. Laddie N. Howard and Heyward Hinton. The remains will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. until the hour of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The funeral procession will leave at 3 p.m. from the residence of his sister, Preshes Campbell Wilson, 5190 Ridge St., Dalzell.

The family will receive friends at 5190 Ridge St., Dalzell.

PERRY JOSEPH BONAPART

PHILADELPHIA -- Mr. Perry Joseph Bonapart, 79, widower of the late Jennie Beatrice Bonapart departed this life on Monday, July 26, 2004, in Philadelphia.

He was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Orangeburg, a son of the late Jeremiah and Rosa Lee Bonapart.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 at noon.

Burial will follow in the Bradford cemetery.

Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

WILLIE RILEY

MANNING - Willie Riley, 55, widower of Lillie Mae Wilson Riley, died on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Packard Lane in Manning.

Born on April 2, 1949, in the Paxville section of Clarendon County, he was a son of Nonie Richardson Riley and the late James Riley.

He received his formal education in the Paxville schools of Clarendon County and was a farmer.

Survivors include his mother, Nonie R. Riley of Manning; a grandmother, Louise RIley of Paxville; one daughter, Melissa (Michael) Hector of Kissimmee, Fla.; one brother, James E. (Eartha) Riley of Sumter; five sisters, Joann (James) Barnett, Margaret (Robert) Griffin and Carolyn Riley of Brooklyn, N.Y.,Cynthia (Craig) Bishop of Dale City, Va., and Dollie (Darrell) Shields of Virginia; and four grandchildren.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Church, Paxville Highway, S.C. 261, Manning with the Rev. Henry Pressley, pastor, officiating assisted by Min. Terry Johnson, Min. Darrell Shields and Elder Craig Bishop.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers and floral bearers will be friends of the family.

The family will receive friends at the home, 322 E. Huggins St., Manning.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning is in charge of arrangements.

MARY TIMMONS MORRIS

BISHOPVILLE -- Mary Timmons Morris, 84, widow of James Wheeler Morris Sr., died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.

Born in Olympia, she was a daughter of the late Norman Knight Timmons and the late Henrietta Cornelia Ellison Timmons.

She was a member of Hephzibah Presbyterian Church. She was a registered nurse having received her training at Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

Survivors include a son, James Wheeler Morris Jr. and his wife, Marie; three daughters, Diane McElveen and her husband, William, Sandy Garron and her husband, Bernie, and Lindy Johnson; a brother, John D. Timmons; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Hephzibah Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow in the Brewington Presbyterian Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 309 Law St., Bishopville.

Memorials may be made to Hephzibah Presbyterian Church, 461 Sumter Highway, Bishopville, SC 29010.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of arrangements.

SAMUEL SIDNEY BURNS SR.

Samuel Sidney Burns Sr., 81, husband of the late Agnes Bryant Burns, died on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at Mariner Health of Sumter East.

He was born in Taft, a son of the late Henry Isaac and Minnie Wright Burns. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Daniel Construction as a pipe fitter. He was a charter member of The South Sumter Church of God.

Surviving are two sons, Sam S. Burns Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Lexington and Richard H. Burns and his wife, Irene, of Sumter; three daughters, Jane B. Tidwell of Columbia, Emma B. Hawthorne and her husband, James, of Sumter and Judy B. Hice of Sumter; two sisters, Linda Faye Burns of Cayce and Annie Burns Martin of Andrews; 16 Grandchildren, Robin Burns, Richard Burns, Shanett Cole and her husband, Chris, Pamela Tidwell, Christina Burns, Aprile Tidwell, Charles Hice, Sammie Burns, Elizabeth Hice, Sierra Burns, Sam Hawthorne, Brianne Hawthorne, Jerin Hawthorne, Heather Garza, Ashley Garza, and Christal Garza; and two great-grandchildren, Laten Turner and Stephanie Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Robert Burns and David Thomas Burns; two sisters, Effie Burns Pack and Mary Burns Frierson; and one grandson, Len Hawthorne.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at The Bethesda Church of God with the Revs. Albert Simms and Howard Owens and Youth Pastor Neil DuBose officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Le Roy Martin, Larry Harrington, Mike Bryant, Lynn Bryant, Paul Kevin Bryant and Todd Bryant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Martin and Kenneth Martin.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Bullock Funeral Home and at other times at the daughter's residence on Twelve Bridges Road, Sumter.

NINETY SIX -- Donna Arlene Barber Turner, 73, of 95 Kitson St., wife of C.Z. Turner, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

SUMMERTON -- Dyson's Home for Funerals and Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, along with the Rev. M. L. Capers, pastor, sorrowfully regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Sarah Canty McBride, 88, who entered into eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Rosena Johnson, 1130 Prince Circle, Columbia.

Born in Clarendon County on April 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James Canty and Susan Martin Canty. She was the widow of Robert E. McBride.

The family is receiving friends at the home, 1030 Fourth St., Summerton.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dyson's Home of Funerals in Summerton.

PATRICIA JOHNSON

Patricia Mae Stamps Johnson, 62, wife of Morgan Daniel Johnson, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Rufus William Stamps and Ruby Gainelle Geddings Stamps.

Surviving are her husband of Sumter; two sons, Frank W. Weatherly of Sumter and John Daniel Weatherly of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Carol Denice Gainey of Sumter; three brothers, Stephen W. Stamps and Michael Stamps, both of Sumter, and Terrel Stamps of Columbia; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Betty Gainey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sumter cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 21 Wayne Drive.

SHERIDAN WEBB Jr.

Sheridan Webb Jr., 77, husband of Nellie Johnson Webb, died Aug. 5, 2004, at V.A. Bryan Dorn Hospital in Columbia.

Born on July 3, 1928, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Sheridan Webb Sr. and Mary Kershaw Webb.

He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He retired from the Sumter School District 2 Maintenance Division. At an early age, he joined High Hill AME Church. He was a member of Rembert Masonic Lodge No. 1 and a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include four daughters, Ida Gurley of Philadelphia, Carol, Barbara and Sandra Webb, all of Sumter; one son, James (Betty) Webb of Sumter; four aunts, Hattie K. Blanding and Bernice Kershaw, both of Sumter, Elizabeth Woods of New Haven, Conn., and Ethel Kershaw of Orangeburg; one uncle, Raymond Woods of New Haven; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, Louis Webb; three sisters, Bessie Praileau, Lucille Webb and Lottie Moore; one brother, Daniel Webb; his mother-in-law, Mary Dawson; and one brother-in-law, James Roach.

The remains will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday from the High Hill AME Church with the Rev. Charmaine Ragin, pastor, eulogist, officiating, assisted by the Revs. Ruth Robinson Wiley, Jeffrey Wilson and Linda Richbow.

Burial will be in High Hill AME Church Yard cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the Rembert Masonic Lodge No. 1.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Floral bearers will be nieces.

The procession will leave at 2:45 p.m. from his home, 5670 Shakemia Road, Dalzell.

The family will receive friends at his home 5670 Shakemia Road, Dalzell.
